Chapter One: The Wondering Coins, Ritchie and Brandon's Life in Atlantide Begins.

Ritchie woke up to the same familiar gray ceiling of the prison. However, he quickly realized that this wasn't the same cell that he had been living in for the last week. For one the cell was wider than the one before it. Secondly there was more light within the room. Third was the fact that the room had two beds the other one not taken by him layed his brother.

Looking around a bit more showed that the cell was large enough for two people walk around in at the most. There was also a small table that would allow two people to share a meal. However, Ritchie ignored that and went over to his brother to check on him.

He was asleep but look to be just fine from what the older twin could see. Which brought Ritchie relief has he had been worried about his brother. It was also a relief that he could no longer hear the voice of his devil Raijin in his head. He hopes that the ritual had the same results for his brother.

Ritchie took one of the chairs from the table and moved it so that he could sit beside his brother's bed. They stayed like this for about an hour before Brandon woke up in a daze. However, he could still tell that his brother was beside him. "Brother?" Brandon called out softly.

"I'm here, how are you feeling?" Ritchie asked his younger twin with a smile. Brandon sat up with a smile.

"I can't hear him anymore brother. He's still there, I can sense him, but I can't hear him." Brandon replied with a hopeful smile. Ritchie nodded with a smile of his own has he had a similar reaction when he woke up.

The two brothers sat together for quite some time talking about what they wanted to do when they finished fulfilling the conditions of the pardon that they had been given. They were only interrupted when a guard came to check up on them and when the caretakers came to bring them dinner. They were told that they were going to be staying in that cell for the next week, when they would be released into the care of Reaper.

A week later just has promised, a group of nine guards came and brought them to a release perp room, they were each given a simple white shirt, brown pants, and brown leather shoes. With that they were brought out to the lobby of the prison to wait for their temporary guardian until they completed the terms of their conditional pardon.

Reaper, the strongest wizard in Atlantide and Terrarium has a whole would be the one that they would be staying with. They had heard stories of his accomplishments from the guards and caretakers alike. Not that they needed to hear the stories to know how strong he was. Many had come to challenge their demons and none of them succeeded before Reaper. Even the other royal guild leaders only could hold a candle to them. Many who tried to defeat them before Reaper had died and very few survived.

Has they sat in the lobby together the twins talked about what they thought it would be like to serve in a guild. Ritchie and Brandon weren't sure what it would be like exactly since all they heard from the newspapers they were given, was that guilds went on "quest" and got rewards for completing them, and that there were two types of Guilds. Royal Guilds and Public Guilds.

Reaper entered the lobby with a soft smile. He had high hopes for his newest students. They definitely had potential that if developed properly could help keep Atlantide safe for years. All they needed was the correct type of guidance and they may be able to control their powers and not have to worry about their demons taking over them again.

Looking over where the twins were seated, he could tell that they were rather observant of their surroundings. Their conversation had halted right when he entered the room. Furthermore, is how they kept looking over the area around them has if scanning for a potential threat.

"Hello you two, are you ready to go?" Reaper asked the twins with a smile. They nodded and Reaper lead them out of the prison after completing the paperwork to show that he had taken them out of there. Upon existing the prison, they were greeted with the sight of Atlantide's capital of Oceanus. It was a beautiful city with buildings that had white walls and dark aqua green roofs. The sound of the ocean could be faintly heard throughout the city.

The twins looked around in wonder. The other cities they had been to in Atlantide, and Terrarium has a whole were completely different from the ones that they were seeing here in Oceanus. What's more was the fact that the people were wondering about freely and enjoying their lives in peace and harmony.

Reaper led them through the city while pointing out important landmarks that they would need to know about. Like the palace, the local guild halls, the place they would be attending magic counseling and therapy, and more. Soon enough they reached the building that was known to the city folk has The Wondering Coins Guildhall.

The building was made of stone unlike the others. An image of a Coin was near the roof and there were a few windows. Reaper led them inside where they recognized Reaper's second in command Shades. He wore a skull mask and a black robe.

"Ah Reaper, welcome back. I see that you brought our newest guild members." Shades nodded in acknowledgement. Reaper nodded and looked around the guildhall. There were a few members of the guild wondering around the guildhall either doing paperwork or looking at boards with sheets of paper on them.

"I see things have gone well while I was gone. Do you have anything to report?" Reaper asked the man in front of him. The man shook his head and Reaper nodded in satisfaction. "Good, please tell the guild that I will be busy getting our new members settled in. If they need anything, please take care of them." Shades nodded and left to tell the guild.

Reaper then led the twins through the guildhall and showed them the places in the guildhall that they needed to know about. The last place they stopped was their new bedroom. "And this will be your room. I hope you don't mind sharing one because this is the only room, we have available." Reaper said opening the bedroom door.

It was a descent size room that was big enough to house two people comfortably. There were two queen size beds. The room wasn't too decorated aside from two desk, a restroom, and two closets. Needless to say, it was perfect for two people to live in temporarily.

"It's fine, the two of us prefer to share anyways." Ritchie smiled at Reaper thankfully. Brandon nodded in agreement has he looked around the room. Reaper nodded happy to hear the two didn't mind sharing.

"Good, I have to fill out some paperwork for my guild really quick to make sure that your registered has part of the guild. I'll also need you two to sign these forms. I meant to give them to you here, but I left them in the office and still haven't finished them. After I finish that I will come back here and get you two your guild marks. After that I will take you two into the city to get you two some different clothes and some things to decorate your room." Reaper told them with a smile.

About fifteen minutes later Reaper came back with the paperwork for them to join the guild. It wasn't much, just filling out information that Reaper would need to know about like medicine they needed, allergies, magic and other information they would need to know.

After the paperwork they went with Reaper to a clothing store and pick out their new outfits. Both of them still looked unique but similar in their own way. Thankfully, the store had more than one of each outfit in stock.

Ritchie had chosen a blue poncho with yellow tassels that opened on his left side, secured with a golden clasp and brown leather pants with black leather boots. His guild mark was on his left wrist and his blue hair was unkept with a yellow head band with white polka dots that he had from home.

Brandon on the other hand had opted to forgo having a headband since he his lost a long time ago but kept a similar look to his brother. His poncho was opened on the right side showing his guild mark clearly. Instead of being blue and yellow it was white and purple and was secured by the same gold clasp that Ritchie's had. He had gray pants with pockets and the same black boots has Ritchie.

Both of them looked at their new looks with a satisfied look on their face and brought a few of these outfits before going to another store to decorate their room. Both of them decorating their sides of the room in their respective color schemes.

By the time everything was said and done for the day the pair of twins were tired out. They ate dinner which was a hearty meal of beetroot soup and a glowing type of bread which they were assured was safe to eat and they ended up particularly liking. After they finished their meal, they went to bed and rested for the next day.

That next day they woke up to Reaper entering the room with a meal for them to eat. Noticing that they were awake he turned to them with a smile. "Good morning you two, I brought you two breakfast. When your finished come to my office and I will tell you the plan for today." He smiled before leaving the twins to eat and get ready.

The twins ate their meal and made their way to Reaper's office. They knew that they would be learning about Atlantide since they planned on living here after their time in mandatory guild service was over. They had talked about it during the week that they shared a cell and agreed that if they liked guild life enough, they would either stay with The Wondering Coins, transfer to another guild, or make their own. Reaper knowing this would also be teaching them about how guild life worked since they would be serving a year anyways.

The two twins sat across from Reaper in his office. His office was made of stone walls and wooden floors. "Alright you two, let's start today's lessons. Today you'll be learning how guild life works. Has you most likely already know there are multiple guilds out there. However, what you might not know is that there are three types of guilds. The first and most common type of guild are public guilds. They take quest only from people in this country and its allies. The second are dark guilds and they are considered illegal due to the fact that they take on illegal quest and use illegal magic. Third and the most rare and important, are the royal guilds. They are the only guild that can take quest outside the country and directly from the royal family. Do you understand so far?" Reaper asked with a smile.

The twins nodded and Reaper continued the lesson. "Good, now each guild, no matter what type has a unique mark. This mark is given to all members upon joining the guild. This mark represents their loyalty to the guild and denotes items that are owned by and used for guild purposes. Anyone who wears the mark of the guild is also under the protection of that guild's leader. In other words, so long has your part of the guild I'm responsible for your wellbeing, understand?"

The twins nodded and went over the things that Reaper taught them so far. "There are three types of guilds, public, royal, and dark guilds. Public guilds are the most common and can only take quest inside the country and its allies. Dark is the second most common and use illegal magic and take on illegal quest. Royals are the most rarest and can travel freely when it comes to quest. Each guild no matter what type has a mark that represents their membership and loyalty to the guild. So long has one has that mark they are under the care of that guild's leader." Ritchie summarized with a nod which was mirrored by Brandon.

"Good, now let's talk about quest… Quest are ranked based on difficulty. Starting from the lest difficult the ranks are D, C, B, A, S and SS. Wizards who are parts of a guild are ranked with the same system only based on their power and their control over it. Wizards can only take quest equal to or lower than their rank. While they can take a wizard one rank lower than them on a quest, the wizard who is taking the quest will be responsible for the wizard or wizard they take on that quest.

For that reason, the royal guild council passed a law years ago that states that if a wizard wishes to take a guildmate of lower rank on a quest with them they must have the approval of the guild leader to do so. Since you two don't know how to control your power yet you'll start at D rank. Work hard and you'll be able to make your way up the ranks and take on the S class trials and hopefully earn S or SS Rank. But you have to be at least B or A rank to be considered eligible for the trails." Reaper continued with the lesson.

"Okay that makes since. But what's the royal guild council and what do they do?" Ritchie asked with a frown. Brandon nodded wondering the same thing has his brother.

"That was actually going to be the next topic that I was going to cover this lesson. The Royal Guild Council is a council that consists of the leaders of the royal guild, their seconds in command and the grand guild master. They make the laws that guilds have to follow, resolve issues between guilds, help them get quest and more.

The grand guild master or grand master for short is the leader of the council but any decision made by him can be overturned by the royal guild leaders. The grand master also represents the public guilds on the council and assigns the guilds quest though people can request that their quest get sent to a specific guild or even a specific guildmember or type of mage." Reaper replied with a smile.

"Alright that makes since. But I do have one more questions. How are guilds formed?" Ritchie asked curiously. Reaper nodded and continued the lesson has that was also what was next on the list of topics for this lesson.

"All guilds start has a public guild once they register their guild with the royal guild council. If they make a significant name for themselves or get enough support from the public, they can apply to become a royal guild. In order to do that they must get a majority vote from the royal family, the royal council, the civilian console and the royal guild council." Reaper explained

The twins nodded in understand has Reaper concluded the lesson for the day. After that they had therapy and then training with Reaper and then free time where they could take quest. On days that they didn't have therapy they had magic counseling instead where they learned about how their magic worked and what they would need to know in order to make sure they didn't hurt anyone on accident.

Ritche and Brandon looked at each other and nodded. They maybe in another world, but as long as they had one another they would be just fine. Afterall it was how they survived back on Horedora in their home kingdom, and it was how they would survive now. But this time with out the need to fear for their lives.
