Nigel Channing was the chairman of the Imagination Institute and the host of the Journey Into Your Imagination attraction. He was proud of this role, though people didn't necessarily like him. He knew they preferred Figment and Dreamfinder, but they were long gone.
It was a surprise when, on October 8th 2001, a certain purple dragon was left on the doorstep of the Imagination Institute, with a letter. Nigel read it. Then temporarily shut the Imagination Institute to visitors while the dragon acclimated.
Nigel vowed to never tell Figment the contents of the letter. It would only break his heart.
A/N
October 8th 2001 was the closing date for the ill-fated Journey Into Your Imagination attraction. It only had Nigel Channing in it, no Figment. So Imagineers shut the ride to bring Figment back after many guest complaints.
