Chapter Three: The Coronation of King Steven Aquarius of Atlantide.
Ritche and Brandon woke up the next morning bright and early. Today was the day that Steve would be crowned has king and begin his reign on the throne. Many people had arrived to join in the festivities that would mark the day. Today the guild leaders were already in the throne room performing the greetings of the new ruler. An ancient tradition tracing back to the days when Terrarium and Horedora were still in communication. It was different for each kingdom in the two worlds, but they had a form of it all the same.
In Atlantide the people who were close to the new ruling monarch would be the first to greet them on their first day of rule. They would be followed promptly by the royal council, then royal guild leaders then finally the coronation would begin. It was meant to show that the king he had subport from his family, friends and the councils.
Since the Grate Parva Alliance Civil Political War this tradition had become more important to the members of the Parva Alliance. Afterall thought out The Grate Parva Alliance Civil Political War there had been times that the heirs to a kingdom's throne and their friend or sibling had been held captive by someone illegally trying to take their kingdom's throne and they had to turn to their friends for subport to bring the evil rulers to justice. Carly and her sisters was just one of the many examples of this that one could name if one were to ask.
Ritche and Brandon stood in the ballroom where the new king would be crowned. Many rulers, nobbles and guild members were already in the room waiting to witness the new king claim his throne. Many servants were milling about or standing in position, ready to attend to the needs of the guest has they were told them. Even more Palace Guards were in the ball room and patrolling the palace halls and corridors to ensure no one tried to disrupt the festivities and ready to intercept them at a moment's notice should it be necessary.
The twins walked about chatting with various guild members they had already known like those from the coins. There were many people they had met from the Grand Magic Games that year. It was a rather pleasant time for the twins who had never quite been able to enjoy parties like this. Ture their "parents" had hosted parties of this level luxury but even the birthdays they had in the castle never were planed with them has a person in mind, just finding someone to marry them off to.
Soon enough, the bells in the palace's belfry began to chime signaling that the moment had arrived. The soon to be former king walked into the ball room to the throne that stood at the back of the massive room, the people having cleared the way so that the former king could make his way to the throne. The soon to be former king sat on the throne and spoke to the people for what would be his last speech has the king of Atlantide.
"Citizens and people of Atlantide, today is a day that many kings and queens who reign has the monarch of their kingdom look forward to. The day that they are relived of the burden that the throne brings and name their child their successor… When I wake tomorrow, I shall be not but a normal citizen of the kingdom that lives in this palace to advise my son when he shall need it… Now it is time for my reign to end and for my son Crown Prince Steven Aquarius of Atlantide to begin his reign has the king. Let the coronation, begin!" The king smiled has the crowd cheered. The royal priest, named Alexander Walters a man in his early thirties made his way into the room.
The soon to be former king would now undergo his decoronation to show that he had abdicated the throne. "I, King James Aquarius of Atlantide, abdicate any and all responsibilities to the throne, except for thy responsibility to name and crown thy successor to its power." The king said as he got up from the throne.
"I, King James Aquarius of Atlantide, here by having completed my service to my kingdom, here by ask that thou in higher powers including thou in the heavenly realms acknowledge thy abdication and when they time come welcome thyself into the afterlife…" He said handing the orb that was in his right hand to the priest.
"I, King James Aquarius of Atlantide, having used my power to rule thy kingdom here by renounce any power I had has king and therefore shall give my scepter to thy successor." He smiled has he gave the scepter in his right hand to the priest. Finally, he put his hands on his crown. "I King James Aquarius of Atlantide, here by abdicate thy crown so that it may be given to its successor, has it is a symbol thyself former power in thy kingdom…"
Now that he had formally abdicated the throne, his son who would take the throne would enter the room in a few moments to take the throne. When he did everyone turned to see the young monarch to be enter the ball room with his body guard on his right and his son on his left followed but his brothers and sister.
Once Steve reached the head of the path to the throne he stopped and turned to face the crowd and the people following dispersed except for Sharky who has Steve's body guard was needed at his side in case someone tried to attack him. The now former king raised his hand for silence. "I, Former King James Aquarius of Atlantide, do here by name my son, Crown Prince Steven Aquarius of Atlantide my successor. Having done so, I have fulfilled my duties to thy kingdom and now declare, the beginning of a new reign of power." With that the father allowed his son to sit on his new throne. He then looked to the priest and nodded bringing over the orb that he had held a few minutes ago.
"I, Former King James Aquarius of Atlantide, do ask that those who rule over this world from the higher planes hereby accept my choice to name thy son my successor." The priest then nodded and handed the orb to the new king. The former king then moved on to giving the new king his new power has the ruling monarch. Taking the scepter from the butler that had taken it from the priest earlier he turned back to his son.
"I, Former King James Aquarius of Atlantide, having abdicated all power that comes with the throne and crown here by give all power to my successor, Crown Prince Steven Aquarius of Atlantide." Finally, it was time to officially name Steve King. The hall went silent, and Clyde brought over the crown.
"I, Former King James Aquarius of Atlantide, do name thy son, Crown Prince Steven Aquarius of Atlantide, king of Atlantide and form this day forward shall be known has King Steven Aquarius of Atlantide!" The crowd cheered and the royal choir began to sing Atlantide's national anthem with the people in the ballroom joining in.
The now king stood from his throne and raised a hand for silence. Now he had to give his first speech has king, crown his son prince and finally announce the new line of succession for the throne of Atlantide.
"When I was younger, I met many of my best friends. From them I learned the importance of trusting in others and letting them show who they really are. I also learned of the darker side of royal life though my involvement in The Grate Parva Alliance Civil Political War… I've seen people in royalty at their best and worst. However, I promise you that has king of Atlantide I will ensure that their will not be a Second Grate Parva Alliance Civil Political War. I will do my part to ensure that The Parva Alliance and the rest of Terrarium remains at peace. To that end I will start my reign my naming my successor and making clear the currant line of succession. I will also be working closely with the royal council and civilian parliament to implement more measures to prevent history from repeating itself. I hope that has your king I can ensure I peaceful and easy life for all who live in this land. May those who watch over us bring me guidance and peace to this land." He smiled at his people softly.
The people clapped and soon the new king moved to do what he set out to do. He called his adopted son forward and placed the old crown that he wore has crown prince on Lenny's head. "I, King Steven Aquarius of Atlantide, do reaffirm that Heir Lenard Aquarius of Atlantide is my heir and from this moment forward till I retire or my death, shall be known has Crown Prince Lenard Aquarius of Atlantide."
The people cheered and then went quiet. Now was the official announcement for the new line of succession for the throne of Atlantide. Frist was Lenard, followed by Steve's twin brother Stephen, his younger brother Marten and then his sister Aleena. Of course, with him dating Carly that would soon change.
Not to mention that his twin had a girl of his own that he was dating though they weren't has far along in their relationship has Steve and Carly were and Marten and Aleena already had a crush on someone themselves. So, it was likely that the line of succession would be different in the coming years. They were in the beginning of a new reign after all, and the royals at this time were still young so that meant a lot of changes could come in the next two to three years at the earliest.
Now however, the people were enjoying the party. Ritche and Brandon were walking about enjoying the activities that the party had to offer. Though the royal guilds were their as security they were also allowed to enjoy the activities unlike the guards baring Sharky who was Steve's body guard, so long has he stayed at his side.
Ritchie and Brandon were currently at the food bar waiting for the servant in charge of the area to provide them with what they had ordered. That was when they were joined by Devin from the Grimshade guild. "Hey Ritchie, hey Brandon, how are you two."
Ritchie smiled at the sight of his boyfriend. Yes, boyfriend, Brandon didn't know this, but he and Devin had started dating a few months ago. They were planning on telling their brother's in the near future but not today. "We're doing good Devin, what about you?" Ritchie asked his boyfriend with a smile.
"I'm doing well, the food here is quite nice. I was about to get some of the ribeye steak with the beat root soup. What about you Ritchie?" Devin asked with a smile of his own. Ritchie smiled and nodded at his brother.
"Me and brother ordered the same thing. I will admit that the food here is quite nice. Have you tried the Yorkshire putting? It's absolutely delicious." Ritchie smiled happily.
"I did, they are quite nice to have. How are you and your brother's future plans going. I heard you two are planning to open a guild of your own once your mandatory guild service is over." Devin asked with a smile.
"They're going quite well, we've saved up quite the amount of money so far and the sanctuary work that Reaper is having us do has helped has well since he's paying us for that has well. At this rate we might be able to open our guild within a few months after our guild service is over, maybe sooner if we pass the S class trials. We talked to Reaper, and he says we can and that we are ready for them." Brandon smiled at the thought of the trials.
Devin smiled at this, "Good, I was hoping they were coming along well. I know how much you two wanted to open this guild. Have you come up with a name for it yet?" Ritche and Brandon already having decided on the name.
"We're calling it Divinus Magia, I really look forward to opening it. If things go well, we can help so many people that want to reform and redeem themselves. Who knows, maybe we'll people with a similar situation to ours." Ritchie smiled at the thought.
"It is a possibility, though I doute we'll find someone from another world with those circumstances. Though it would be nice to find people who could relate to having their powers forced upon them and help them learn to control it." Brandon replied with a smile.
"It's nice that you guys are willing to help people in those kinds of situations. Not many guilds accept people who are being required to join a guild under mandatory guild service. In fact, in the capital alone there are only two guilds that do that. So, I think you guys have a high chance of getting accepted if you mention that the council." Devin smiled at his friends.
"Yeah, we've been talking to a company that provide magic training equipment that we did some quest for them back when we were D ranks and came back to do some more when we ranked up. Since we did a good job for them, they agreed to sponsor us by giving us some of their equipment." Ritchie smiled happily.
"Our grandmother also agreed to sponsor us by joining the guild has a magic counselor for when we get guild members that don't have control over their magic or find people on quest that don't have control over their magic." Brandon smiled happily.
The three royal guild members sat and talked has they enjoyed their food in peace while talking about the guild that Ritche and Brandon planed on opening once they were ready. Soon enough the party ended and the royal guilds headed back to their guild halls. Ritchie and Devin managed to plan for a date in the coming days has well.
The date over all went well thankfully. It was to a five star restaurant that Michael recommended from when he took Lilac there when they went on a date themselves. They ended up having a great time and enjoyed their meal their too.
