Chapter 5

Beca's POV

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! I roll over and reach out for my phone to turn off my alarm. I look at my phone and see that it's 7am. Who decides to have classes at 8am? We shouldn't be expected to start learning until 11 at least. After 2 weeks of this I'm already sick of it, even though I haven't gone to most of my classes.

I'm sitting there debating whether or not I should skip my philosophy class when I hear a knock on my door. Ugh, who would be here at this ungodly hour. I pull my covers over my head in hopes that whoever is trying to bother me will just go away. Another knock. Whoever it is doesn't sound like they are going away, so I decide to get up and open the door. I slowly slide out of my bed and grab a sweatshirt on my desk chair to pull over my head as I walk to the door. Whoever it is keeps obnoxiously knocking as I make my way to the door.

"What!" I snap as I open the door. I look up to see Aubrey standing at the door with a coffee in each hand. Of course she is up this early.

"Good morning to you too!" Aubrey says way too cheery and loud for my liking this early.

"What are you doing here? And one of those coffees better be for me."

"Well… dad wanted to make sure you are going to be attending classes and I thought you'd appreciate me coming by to check on you instead of him. He's heard you've been skipping." She states as she hands me one of the coffees which I gladly accept. "I also wanted to check to make sure you are still going to auditions tonight." Of course she also has an ulterior motive.

"Well you are right I'd much rather have you check in on me than dad. And yes I'm still planning on going to auditions, so you can tell dad that I'm making the most of my college experience." I say the last part mockingly. "Now as much as I would like to sit here and talk with you and skip my class, I should probably be getting ready so I can actually go."

"Alright, I'll leave so you can get ready, but I expect you to actually go and not go back to sleep as soon as I leave" God she knows me so well. She's about to leave my room when she says "I expect you to send me a text with a selfie of you in class so I know you actually went." I roll my eyes, of course she would expect me to do something lame like that.

"Fine, now I really have to get ready or I'm going to be late, then dad will find out and we'll both get an angry visit from him."

"Alright, I'm going. See you later at auditions!" I close the door and head over to my closet to get ready for my day.

I reach the auditorium in time to see the last person auditioning. I know I'm late and I know that I'm gonna get an earful from Aubrey about it later. Luckily they see me and still let me audition. I didn't know there was a specific song I was supposed to sing either (how did neither Chloe or Aubrey mention that to me), but they luckily let me sing whatever I wanted.

I tried my hardest to not look at Chloe throughout my audition. I don't think I could focus if I looked into her perfect blue eyes. I'm struggling to focus just knowing that she's staring at me. When I finish singing I know I killed it like I always do, so I let myself look at Chloe. Big mistake. We make eye contact and she's smiling at me. I feel myself start to blush. I quickly look away and start to exit the stage.

"Becs wait!" I hear Chloe's voice and instantly freeze. Her voice is beautiful. I turn around and see her walking towards me with Aubrey close behind.

"I'm sorry I was late. I had to rush over here from the English building all the way across campus" I quickly say, but Chloe puts up a hand to stop me.

"Don't worry about it, you made it and you killed it!" She is beaming as she says it and I can feel my face turning red again. "That was honestly amazing! You're obviously going to get in and not just because you're Aubrey's sister." She winks at me. "Though you will have to wait until the end of the week to find out just like everyone else."

I'm hardly able to focus on anything she's saying. I just keep staring at her beautiful face and trying to keep my blush under control. I then notice Aurbrey waving her hand in front of my face and I realize I've zoned out staring at Chloe and Aubrey has been asking me a question.

"Huh?" I say as I snap out of my daze.

"I said, do you want to grab dinner with me and Chloe? Jesse can come too." I turn around and see Jesse heading over to us.

"Uh sure I'll ask him." I mumble out, still embarrassed about staring at Chloe.

"Ask who what?" Jesse asks as he comes over to where we are standing.

"Ask if you want to come to dinner with Beca, Chloe and I." Aubrey answers him.

"Sure! That would be great!" I roll my eyes, of course he would be overly excited about this.

"Come on, let's hurry up and go, I'm starving!" I say as I head to the auditorium door.

We leave the auditorium and head over to the diner I went to with Aubrey our first week here. It's not that far of a walk from campus and they have great food. We walk in and a waitress seats us all at a booth. I slide in next to Jesse and Chloe and Aubrey sit down across from us.

"I think you will really like the burgers here Jesse" I say as I turn to look at him

Jesse chuckles "Of course you would already know that" Burgers are our favorite food, while after Taco Bell.

"This was the diner that I was telling you about that I met Aubrey at the first week. It's not like I went searching for it."

I give Jesse a friendly punch on the arm and he just laughs and looks back at the menu. The waitress comes back a few minutes later and takes our order.

"So how are you guys liking Barden?" Aubrey asks us

"I love it! All of my classes are really fun so far, I have a great roommate and the campus is just awesome!" Of course Jesse loves everything about it. To be fair his roommate Benji is a nice guy, nothing like Kimmy Jin.

"It's alright." I say

"Wow, alright. That's better than what I was expecting to hear from you" Aubrey says as she and Jesse laugh. "I was expecting something like it's the worst place on earth, or I'd rather be in hell."

"Ha Ha, very funny" I say with an eye roll and a smirk. "What about you guys? How's your senior year going?"

"I think it's going well so far." I can hear the hesitation in Chloe's voice. "I mean I've been pushing off taking Russian Lit until this year and it's actually really hard. I'm also really nervous to graduate. Other than that I'm great!" She tries to end with a classic Chloe smile, but I can tell that it isn't genuine.

"Well my classes are good, challenging as usual, but nothing I can't handle. I'll be starting my law school applications soon which I'm both excited and nervous for." Aubrey calmly states.

The waitress then comes back with our food. We sit in silence for a few minutes eating our food before Jesse speaks up.

"So Beca, got your eye on anyone new yet?" Why does he have to word things so weird?

"Do you?" I try to turn it back around on him to avoid answering.

"Why yes, I do! A girl named Sarah in my film class. Now who's your lucky lady? Don't try and tell me there isn't one because there clearly is since you didn't want to answer me." He knows me too well.

"It's nobody. Don't worry about it." I can't tell him that it's Chloe, especially since her and Aubrey are sitting right across from me.

"Come on Becs! You finally told me that you are gay so we can talk about these things now. Who is it?" She says with a pout. Ugh, she's really trying to guilt me into it.

"I really can't tell you." I cross my arms over my chest to indicate that I'm serious.

"Don't worry Becs, we won't tell anyone or tease you." Now Chloe is doing her signature puppy dog look that neither me or Aubrey can resist.

"Fine. She is older than me and really pretty. That's all you're getting and I'm serious!" I go back to eating my food and hope they drop the subject.

"Well, I think there are a lot of hot Bella's that auditioned." Chloe says with a wink that I swear is intended for me, which causes me to choke on my food. "You okay Becs?" She asks with a smirk on her face.

"Yeah. I'm fine." I manage to get out between coughs. I grab the water in front of me and take a long drink. "I just didn't know you were into girls. I always thought you were straight." I can feel myself blushing as Chloe stares at me with her beautiful blue eyes.

"Nope" she says, popping the p. "I'm bi. I just assumed that you knew. I don't try to hide it"

"Good to know." I say. I know my face is bright red at this point. Jesse nudges me under the table and I know he's figured out my crush on Chloe.

We all return to eating and finish our food. We then pay and leave the diner going our separate ways back to where we live. About halfway back to our dorm I can feel Jesse staring at me.

He clears his throat. "It's Chloe isn't it?" I feel myself blushing at his statement. "Oh my God it is! You're blushing!"

"Don't say anything to anyone. It doesn't matter anyway. She doesn't feel the same, plus she's Aubrey's best friend so I can't act on it."

"From what I've seen, I think she likes you back. Also, I think Aubrey figured out at the same time as me." he says as we climb the stairs of our dorm.

We stop at the second floor and say goodbye. I turn and walk down the hallway to my room as Jesse continues his climb to the third floor. I get to my room and change. I then decide to work on a mix for a while before heading to bed.
