Kurenai was worried about Hinata, she was glad Kakashi and Gai would be there at least, they were arguably the strongest jonin in Konoha besides Jiraiya himself, Asuma being the only other jonin considered on their level had professed that he doubted he actually could match them at their best to her privately. What worried her most was that a pair of genin had effectively given orders and jonin had obeyed, granted Shikamaru had the tact to act like he was advising, but Naruto had spoken with alarming authority for his age and rank.
She wondered if Kakashi's hands off approach to training had merits or if the Daemon, Maemi, could be given credit for how swiftly Naruto had grown. It was downright meteoric, his rise in not only ability and skill, but his grasp on controlling his vast power made him a force to be reckoned with. The issue was slowly becoming his ego and charisma, thanks to him following Shikamaru's advice, everyone was basically obeying his plan.
The Yuhi wondered why Shikamaru had loaned such aid to Naruto, was he simply more loyal to the Kami that marked both of them than she thought?
For his part Shikamaru silently wished Gai had come with his group, but the jonin had made a good point so he'd spoken up in favor of the man's proposal to stop any further arguing that might give the enemy a chance to recover. He hadn't truly intended to make Naruto seem like the leader during that exchange, but the blonde had taken his advice well, with surprising wisdom considering what Nara remembered of the blonde even as recently as the last chunin examinations.
"These examinations are cursed." Kankuro decided bluntly, "I blame Gaara, this shit always happens around him." he added and Temari rolled her eyes as Baki sighed.
"You have clearly never been on a mission with Naruto Uzumaki, this is his curse." Shino argued bluntly, Ino nodding in agreement and Choji shrugging amicably.
Shibuki sighed, "Could you all please stop blaming curses before you bring one down on us?" he requested, casting a slightly nervous glance at Fu but not wanting to say these things tended to happen around her too.
Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Hinata, Maemi, Kakashi, Gaara, Genkei and Gai all stood on the wall, the Imps standing by their masters, "There are nine of us." Naruto realized idly.
Genkei made an irritated grinding sound that could only be his equivalent of grinding teeth, although more metallic, "You forgot that I can fight too?" the Malice asked angrily, brandishing Sakura's smaller axe as the Haruno rested against her larger one lodged into the top of the Doryuheki they stood on.
"Yeah." Naruto confessed with a nod, earning a louder grinding sound from the Malice. Kakashi wondered if he'd need to intercept the armored Imp, but Genkei seemed capable of controlling himself much to his surprise.
Sasuke scoffed, "With Kakashi and Gai here we'll barely get a chance to show our stuff. I want to deal with that lava guy. I need to prove my jutsu are better than his." he decided plainly, picking his target before the battle even began as he pulled out a hyorogan.
"That armored guy," Sakura began, "I want to take him." she declared.
"Not a good idea," Gai disagreed, "Naruto or I should handle that one." he said, acknowledging verbally the speed the blonde possessed.
Sakura scowled at that, "I can take him! If they got reinforcements who knows how many other strong bastards there are!" she pointed out.
Kakashi shook his head, "Drop it, Sakura-chan, that guy is just above your level right now, even Sasuke-kun shouldn't challenge him." he pointed out, but both his other students Naruto hadn't been excluded nor did their jonin sensei argue with Gai's assessment.
Naruto didn't like only having four of his swords, his scabbard for his nodachi was still down in the flooded street but he couldn't use iaijutsu with it anyway and he could tell that he was getting better with the fundamentals by training with the long tungsten sword. The blonde lifted it to rest the back of it against his right shoulder as his new tail swayed behind him, "See anything, Hinata-chan?" he asked casually.
Hinata activated her Byakugan, "Some scouts noticed us and are moving to investigate, two o'clock." she informed quickly, Kakashi and Gai both leaped to deal with the situation in sync. Naruto smirked proudly, Sasuke engulfed his spear in orange flames after swallowing his hyorogan, shaping it into a long bow and carefully stringing it with golden chakra, "What is that?" Hinata asked the Uchiha.
"Yumi." Sasuke answered, knowing well enough she meant the golden chakra string and not the bow, he activated his yellow flame and aimed his new weapon, pulling a golden arrow into existence and launching it at the distant tents with speed that didn't seem possible.
Naruto narrowed his eyes, "Nice shot." he commented, able to see that the arrow had gone right through one of the tents.
"Pretty sure I hit someone important." Sasuke bragged, letting the again unstringed longbow rest against his left shoulder as he deactivated his yellow flame, "So we're waiting for their answer to that challenge samurai style?" he asked dryly.
Naruto laughed at the comparison, "You're the one who shot the arrow." he pointed out, "But yeah, Konton no Ninso are a lot like a blend of a ninso and a samurai." he agreed, nodding as if he came up with it.
Gaara turned his head, "More went around the other side, I'll try to halt them." he said, disappearing with a Suna Shunshin no Jutsu.
Kakashi and Gai returned with a pair of captured shinobi just as the Suna nin left, "One got away." the silver haired jonin warned quickly, ready to start interrogating.
"Good." Naruto said happily, stalling the interrogation, "Sasuke just launched our challenge. Iwa's forces are probably on the way." he said, reaching for the horn next to the gourd hanging under his katana and wakizashi, "Unfortunately for them, my magnificent self, is Konton no Omo!" he declared, blowing into the horn with a chakra infused blast. The deep sound shook the others to their bones, and despite the fact that it shouldn't be connected to anything, from the nearby lumber farm charged an army of Beastmen.
Naruto made the seal of confrontation, "Try to keep up!" he ordered before crossing the distance with shunshin, Sasuke cursed under his breath and moved to follow. A counter charge had not been something the blonde had verbalized was part of the plan, Maemi made a mental note to lecture him about that as she hitched a ride with Hinata who moved to keep pace with Kakashi as he and Gai followed Sakura and Genkei after Sasuke.
The blonde grinned as he rushed the surprised Iwa shinobi, the double counter charge working exactly like he expected. His nodachi carved through a pair of flatfooted chunin before the Iwa forces even noticed he was upon them, most of them busy recovering from the shock of the charging herd of Beastmen. Unfortunately said Beastmen were mostly Ungor, their spears and ambush had taken a few Iwa genin by surprise but the jonin turned the tide quickly. Few chunin fell to the Gors axes and the Slaangor weren't much of a match for the jonin level enemies either.
Naruto spotted the red armored man named Han going for Bakkus and leaped to intercept, his blade narrowly missing taking the arm off the man as he backed off at the arrival of the blonde. He moved to test Naruto's defenses but was forced to back off by the reach and speed of the younger shinobi, "Shit, you're no ordinary genin, Gyumahime." he praised.
"Kajomahime!" Naruto snapped in retort, swinging his nodachi furiously once before he regained control and twisted it to parry the gauntlet clad fist of his current opponent. The blonde hopped back and swung his blade to force some distance, swiftly slicing a second time in the same breath to halt his opponents attempts to weave around his attack and cross the distance. Han was impressed with the speed of his opponent, the swordplay and footwork, or hoofwork as it were, were also high level, he could tell that much as a taijutsu specialist himself.
Then the song picked up and the blonde had to twist, duck, snap his tail into the neck of another shinobi, and dive to avoid being overwhelmed, rolling off his shoulder and coming up to stab his sword into the path of a charging jonin, skewering the man before he stood, reared back and stabbed the man again in the chest. The force of the thrust knocked the dying man stumbling back as Sasuke arrived to invoke a pillar of blue flame that scattered the Iwa shinobi forces.
Han decided to deal with the Uchiha, and in a momentary burst of steam he'd slammed his right fist into the solar plexus of the airborne genin, sending the raven-looking ninso flying backwards so far that Han landed before he crashed into Sakura who dived to catch him, "You're lucky I didn't have my Sharingan or Kiiro-en active!" the one eyed genin shouted angrily, his pride more wounded than he was by the blow much to the surprise of the man who struck him.
Naruto slit open his right thumb on his nodachi and hopped at an Iwa shinobi to plunge his nodachi through them, swiftly weaving hand signs as the man staggered, "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!" he declared as he thrust his right hand down and withdrew his nodachi with his left hand, adjusting his grip within the resulting cloud of smoke and charging ahead of the twelve Daemonettes he'd summoned. Han rushed to intercept, attempting to block Naruto's swing with his gauntlet but flinching at the weight behind the blow, the chunin he saved backing up with him as the Daemonettes fanned out to carve into the rallying Iwa shinobi, forcing the surprised forces on the defensive.
Han wasn't sure what happened but the next thing he knew he felt his ribs and armor crack, he realized after the fact that Naruto had shifted his stance and swung that sword again, the reach and speed of the tungsten blade enhanced by the devastating weight of it. Naruto pulled on his Hoshi chakra, forming a six feathered wing of pink chakra from each shoulder blade to flex and block a volley of shuriken before he swung again.
Han dodged backwards with a burst of steam, dragging one of the Iwa nin back as the others fought the Daemonettes to a standstill, many of them still preoccupied by the force of Beastmen Naruto had called with his horn. Sasuke bit open his left thumb as Gai and Kakashi arrived, the green clad jonin rushing to intercept and engage Han in taijutsu while the other leaped to toss a volley of shuriken at the preoccupied chunin.
More Iwa shinobi began to arrive, attempting to turn the tide against the surprise counterattack from Konoha, only to see a group of eighteen Pink Horrors charging from Sasuke's direction. The Uchiha was less than amused when the front five of them were melted by lava, even if smaller blue versions of them did burst out and spit fire as they died they didn't last long and he turned to face the other notable Iwa shinobi, Roshi.
Asuma figured he should comment on Tenten's performance, seeing as Gai was busy helping ensure they escaped, "Even if it was a bunshin, I noticed you took out an S rank shinobi back there, how'd you throw that kibaku fuda so fast?" he questioned curiously.
Tenten had not been aware those were all S rank shinobi, "Oh! Uh, well, the thing is my affinity is Futon, and Naruto-kun happened to know a Futon no Jutsu that he said would be perfect for me and I learned it and that's how I throw things so much faster now." she said, her speech speeding up as she became embarrassed to admit who had taught her that.
Samui glanced back at them, "A younger genin taught you a ninjutsu that let you defeat an S rank shinobi?" she asked dryly.
Shikamaru scoffed, "If any of us are still genin after this I'm going to protest Hokage-sama myself." he said bluntly.
Asuma chuckled despite the insubordination of it, "I can't say I disagree, all of you proved yourselves, that's for sure." he agreed easily.
Neji suddenly stopped and held up a hand to indicate everyone else should halt too, "Large group of Iwa shinobi just went under us at high speed, we've been spotted." he warned quickly, "They don't have us truly outnumbered, but with Lee, Shino, and Shikamaru unable to fight-" he began.
"I can fight." Shino spoke up dryly.
"As can I!" Lee insisted hotly, eager to do battle again.
"Are there as many of them as there are us?" Shikamaru asked, as he truly didn't have much stamina left and lacked Lee's unwillingness to stand down.
Neji focused for a moment before he answered, "Sixteen total." he revealed, meaning that even including Akamaru the enemy had sent a force that matched their numbers, "They realized we stopped and are coming this way now." he added.
"Stay in the trees." Asuma ordered, "Don't engage the enemy until they emerge from the ground." he added quickly, just in case. Samui nodded in agreement to show her students they should follow his advice too.
Naruto moved to assist the herd he'd called, rescuing a group of them from being slaughtered by jonin as his team moved to engage enemies. Sakura came spinning through the air and slammed her axe through a man and into the ground before using it as a leverage point to pole vault a flying kick into a man's face, yanking the axe out of the ground and swinging it into the ground again as another man dodged the attack.
Sasuke noticed her style was similar to how Zabuza used the Kubikiribocho against Kakashi a while ago, but he focused on his current opponent, dispelling a gout of lava to protect his summoned Daemons as they launched flames into the Iwa forces, forcing them to split further to deal with Naruto and Sasuke's combined Daemonic forces. Kakashi landed in between the Horrors and a charging jonin, catching the other man's tanto in his left hand and redirecting the surprisingly strong thrust into his left shoulder when he couldn't stop it entirely before he plunged a kunai into the pinned right arm of the other shinobi at the elbow, twisting the metal tool to shatter his joint viciously.
Gai noticed Han had been hurt before he'd arrived and was impressed both by Naruto's ability and the armor of his opponent, that it had only cracked under the weight of the tungsten blade spoke of the quality of Iwa's metal. Equally impressive was the steam assisted taijutsu of his opponent, the armored ninja matching his speed and agility despite wearing O-yoroi that seemed to be iron or steel painted red.
Hinata and Maemi were the last to arrive, right behind Genkei who charged to follow Sakura into battle carrying her shield and old axe. The former heiress moved to assist Naruto, not that he seemed to need it as the blonde danced between Iwa shinobi, his blade knocking aside guards and allowing his new tail or bone spur kicks to vital points to kill with alarming ease. Genkei dived to deliver the blade from his left pauldron into the back of the leg of a man that moved to attack Sakura as the pink haired girl used the end of her greataxe's haft to poke an kunoichi in the solar plexus.
Kakashi withdrew his kunai as the man he'd crippled stumbled back, yanking the tanto from his left shoulder as he elbowed the kunai thrust of another shinobi aside with his right arm as he reversed the grip on his own kunai before plunging it into the temple of the attacker. The silver haired jonin followed up by swinging his right arm down to catch the falling kunai of his now dead opponent and flicking his arm back up to toss the kunai at the man he'd already crippled.
Roshi charged Sasuke, forming his cloak of lava chakra as he did. The Uchiha swore he saw a monkey tail trailing behind the man and was swiftly proven right when he used orange fire to turn his seemingly ever-changing weapon into an iron staff, fighting defensively and barely blocking the tail swings thanks to his yellow flame in his left socket, his golden orb glinting in the light as he fought. Sasuke frowned as he saw each block and parry shaved away some of his weapon, at the end of the day it was a cheap wooden catalyst but it had served him well so he was irritated to be unable to form a metal that could withstand the magma-like chakra of his current opponent and preserve the staff.
Gai was proud of Lee for managing to gain the upper hand against someone like Han, even if it had taken most of the Hachimon his student could open he was barely matching the man without Hachimon, and he didn't want to risk opening it too early if Iwa had someone else more powerful in reserves. The man had already decided that if the Tsuchikage showed up he would unleash his full power and burn out in a blaze of glory so his rival and team could escape.
Naruto grinned at Hinata as she took out an Iwa kunoichi he was hesitating on with a swift trio of Juken jabs, Maemi diving to the blonde and suddenly bursting with Hoshi chakra, "My turn, finally!" the Muse exclaimed, much to the surprise of every shinobi she used the Kujaku Myoho and formed a large mantis-like claw to tear into an Iwa shinobi's leg, severing femoral artery thanks to her catching the man off guard. Naruto had not been aware his Familiar could do that but fell back into step with the song in time to knock aside a ninjato and deliver a high snap kick over the left shoulder of a young Iwa shinobi that sent his striking left bone spur through the left clavicle of the young man.
Kakashi tore the tanto out of his left hand, his opponent's eyes widening in alarm as his wound healed by the time Kakashi crossed the distance, knocking aside his guard, throwing the man off balance by grabbing him by the throat and choke slamming him to the ground, delivering his tanto through the left forearm to pin it to the ground. The silver haired jonin shifted to drive his left knee into the throat of his pinned opponent, weaving hand signs quickly and forming a Doryuheki to protect himself from a volley of kunai from Iwa shinobi who seemed to be retreating.
"Bakuton, Futton, and Yoton." Sasuke commented as he was forced on the back foot by the last nature transformation he listed, surprising his opponent with his insight as the iron staff of the young genin was reduced to nearly half of its original mass, "I feel like other nations have more Kekkei Genkai related to Seishitsu Henka, but my Sharingan is better I think." he spoke calmly despite his situation, focusing his chakra for a trick he wasn't sure would work but was worth the small amount of chakra to attempt.
Gai noticed that as the Iwa forces lost ground against them they lost morale, understandably so given the Daemons Naruto and Sasuke had summoned. The Daemonettes giggling morbidly as they tore through genin, the Horrors cackling as they unleashed a coruscating wave of chakra in a swirling vortex at a small group of charging chunin. Han seemed to notice as well, his gaze shifting to Roshi and across the battlefield as he kept pace with Gai.
Naruto moved to cover Sakura, thrusting thrice swiftly to force a pair of shinobi to back off, "Call some of your Daemons too, Sakura-chan!" he ordered, stepping in and carving one of the in half, his cut following through to cleave into the guard of the second and knock the man off balance, which he capitalized on with his new tail, whipping the scorpion sting into the man's heart. He didn't actually know how toxic his venom was, if he had any, or if it was the same as the venom gland in his mouth, but the stinger was long enough to be lethal in the right vital points and he could practically instinctively incorporate it into the Tatakainouta.
Sakura scowled but cut her left palm on her axe, leaving it to balance in the ground with her foot stopping it from falling as she weaved hand signs. Naruto, Hinata, Maemi, and Genkei covered the girl from the superior numbers of the Iwa shinobi, "Kuchiyose!" she exclaimed, thrusting her palm out. Eight Bloodletters emerged from the smoke, Sakura didn't know them by name but she'd seen one before. She smirked at the number she'd managed to conjure as they forced the Iwa to experience yet another summoned counter charge.
Genkei caught a chokuto on Sakura's shield, rearing back his right arm and twisting to catch the follow up strike on the axe head protruding from his left pauldron before swinging his arm forward to use Sakura's first axe to forcibly disarm the man with a swing at the handle of his weapon. The man backed off but was caught off guard by one of Sakura's Bloodletters, the double edged and cross guard design of their swords exoitic to the shinobi and wreathed in flames as if using Katon chakra nagashi was more than enough to clean the head from four Iwa nin including the man disarmed by Genkei.
Kakashi noticed more Iwa shinobi making a retreat but saw a few staying, one coming to meet him with a ninjato. He retrieved the tanto of his last opponent with his right hand as he used his left to lift up his hitai-ate, revealing his Sharingan as he dashed to meet the man, spotting his students handling themselves well despite the circumstances. His opponent surprised him with their kenjutsu skill, it had been a while since he'd practiced such an art diligently and he was glad he'd unveiled his dojutsu for this.
Sasuke was surprised at how susceptible to genjutsu the older man was, the cloak of Yoton chakra receding into the hypnotized Iwa shinobi. The Uchiha examined the remains of his weapon, "You were a dangerous one, a shame you didn't develop a defense against genjutsu." he mused, his orange flame reshaping the remains of his weapon into a steel javelin, condensing the remaining material as best as he could into a usable weapon.
Hinata found herself matched by an Iwa jonin using some kind of Doton no Jutsu to form an armor of stone, her Juken unable to penetrate and she didn't want to risk attempting her bioelectricity against the older man. She found herself on the defensive, Maemi moved to assist but her Hoshi chakra fell short, then Naruto moved in but found his nodachi halted by an enemy katana. The blonde was visibly surprised by this, he'd though he'd snapped lesser katana with the nodachi already, he wondered if Iwa really did have amazing metal.
"Doton chakra nagashi!" Hinata exclaimed as a warning as she stepped back, using her three armed Juken to at least parry her opponents armored taijutsu, apparently something of an Iwa specialty. Naruto sized up his new opponent, their katana seemed normal enough, and they were wearing roughly as much armor as him, although the young man's blonde hair was in a much neater ponytail and he had green eyes.
Sakura lifted her axe, straining herself to twirl it and focusing the momentum, moving her whole body with the weapon when she swung, she killed another two Iwa shinobi this way before a young woman with auburn hair in a topknot managed to evade her wild swings and deliver a left back kick to the jaw. Sakura maintained her grip, lessening the distance she traveled as her axe left a gouge in the earth. Then Sakura punched forward, catching her opponent who managed a guard on the forearms with her left fist, unleashing a sudden conflaguration of flame with the punch. The force of the blast knocked the older kunoichi back, giving Sakura time to attempt a defensive stance as Genkei defended her from thrown shuriken of a retreating Iwa shinobi.
Han noticed the situation and boiled the furnace on the back of his armor, releasing a burst of steam to cover his next move and forcing Gai to back away from the scalding steam. Sasuke was startled to catching a fist to the back of his skull, having deactivated his yellow fire to preserve his chakra slightly the attack from his blind spot rightfully blindsided him and sent him rolling away from the man he'd been about to finish off.
Gai moved to give chase but found himself intercepted by two Iwa jonin with good teamwork and impressive taijutsu, he frowned, opening the first of his Hachimon to overpower them, crescent kicking the guard of one out of the way before sending him flying with his right foot. The other tried to capitalize and drive a kunai into Gai's back but the man spun as his left foot touched the ground, getting a graze on his flak jacket as he elbowed the kunai aside with his left elbow, following up with a left jab to the face of his opponent and a right hook to the temple while the man was dazed.
Naruto was surprised to find someone besides Kisame who could still match swords with him and wasn't a member of some famous sword group as far as he was aware, he knew he was getting cocky but he felt justified. Maemi however was noticing something, Naruto was getting diminishing returns. She was confused for a moment until she realized it was simply a matter of him finally being used to the weight of his sword, now that he was able to wield it properly his growth was slowed down to a more normal rate. HIs muscles wouldn't grow as rapidly because he wasn't tearing them as much to put it simply.
Hinata sidestepped, using her third arm to knock her opponents attack aside and forming a Rasengan in her right hand as she formed the sign of confrontation with her remaining left hand. Using shunshin she delivered the spiraling orb of chakra into the base of her opponents spine. While an impressive display of chakra control and power, and it did hurt the man, it was not enough to completely go through the Doton no Yoroi.
Kakashi decided to stop trying to match a kenjutsu specialist, leaving a false opening to perform a kawarimi without hand seals, sending a mizu bunshin formed from the steam Han had left behind to attack and getting behind the ninjato wielding Iwa nin as he cut down his bunshin and sliding his stolen tanto into the base of the man's neck, "Sorry, but I'm a ninjutsu and assassination specialist, real pain in the ass to fight I know." he apologized, recalling his fight with Zabuza.
Sasuke groaned as he sat up, noticing Sakura matching an enemy kunoichi and finally realizing the Iwa shinobi were retreating with the cover of a select few powerful the distance already formed, Kakashi and Gai decided not to chase the retreating Iwa shinobi further, looking back to see Sakura, Hinata, and Naruto fighting the final three enemies. Genkei attempted to upset the rhythm of Sakura's opponent but was countered with a kick to the faceplate as the Iwa kunoichi backed up and tossed shuriken at the Haruno.
Maemi narrowly avoided a similar fate by using Naruto's Hoshi chakra before she saw an opening, the Muse dived, a flap of Hoshi formed wings boosting her speed as she rolled through an arcing swing of the Iwa shinobi's sword, startling the man as it went right through her as the Imp rolled and leaped to assist Hinata. Her pink aura faltered as she made distance with Naruto, but the Imp flicked her wrist, "Shifuku no Kurushimi!" she announced, as a Familiar she could assist those she was bonded to using their own chakra.
Hinata was surprised by the sudden drain as a whip of dark blue chakra snapped from Maemi at the opening her Rasengan had formed moments ago, stunning the stone armored man. The former Hyuga heiress leaped at the opening, using her two original arms to catch the attempted grapple of her opponent as her third arm delivered a Juken strike to his forehead. The strength of the man almost broke her guard before blood spurt from his nose and his eyes rolled back, Hinata pushed to land on his chest as he fell back and the stone armor crumbled, a fourth arm bursting from her right shoulder to mirror her third.
Sakura spun her oversized weapon like a baton, carefully carrying the momentum into a swing as she leaped at her opponent again. However the Iwa kunoichi had gotten used to the limited range of angles Sakura could attack from due to the awkward size of the axe, almost casually evading the next swing before trying to strap a kibaku fuda to the pink haired girls left arm. In a panic the Haruno blocked the tag with her right arm, flowing Suiton chakra to try protecting herself as her opponent tried to leap away. Sakura dropped her axe and lashed out with her left hand, the clawed demonic appendage gripping her enemy by the wrist so the brass skinned girl could drag her opponent into the blast zone.
Sasuke was a little worried about Sakura, but the girl got up before her opponent and stumbled over to the concussed Iwa kunoichi while readying a kunai. When Sakura plunged the kunai into the base of her opponents neck and horns burst from her temples to curve up before arcing forward the only one left with a living opponent was surprisingly Naruto, the blonde matching blows with an Iwa shinobi that Kakashi could see was using chakra nagashi on his katana.
"You're fast considering how miuch weight it behind that blade, chakra nagashi or tungsten?" The Iwa shinobi guessed calmly, surprising the Konoha shinobi when he got it in two guesses.
Naruto grinned as he recovered from the surprise to weave around a quartet of thrusts, interposing his nodachi between his body and the enemy blade to thwart follow up cuts from each thrust, "Of course my magnificent self is fast, how else would one develop a kenjutsu to cut a swallow out of the air?" he asked cheerfully.
The Iwa shinobi seemed confused by the rather nonsensical reason, wondering what had prompted such an obsession in the blonde. Then Naruto struck, the man saw the beginnings of a horizontal swing and moved his blade to block but was startled by the force behind the swing and that two vertical gashes opened up on either of his arms with three spurts of blood as Naruto ended his swing as if his strike had been vertical.
Kakashi and Sasuke were both pretty sure that saying Naruto had cut three times in one breath would be an understatement that time, the young Uchiha almost wished he'd had the energy to watch that with his yellow flame to see if it differed greatly from the form he'd used on Kisame's odd bunshin. It took the startled dying Iwa nin a moment to realise the third spurt of blood had come from his own throat, the Iwa shinobi realizing slowly that his guard hadn't been enough to stop the initial horizontal swing entirely.
Gaara appeared in a cloud of sand, "Sorry, I got caught up with that other group, but some got away." he apologized, Naruto could smell blood in the auburn haired boy's sand but grinned since he was covered with arterial spray anyway. Yet unnoticed by the blonde was that his teeth had grown another pair of canines, giving him four pairs of extra sharp teeth that only added to his increasingly uncanny visage.
"It's fine." The Uzumaki insisted, "We won and you dealt with some of their numbers for us, good job, and surely the others can protect themselves from whoever managed to slip by." he said confidently, "Neji and Tenten-chan are there after all." he added with a chuckle, the Daemons cell seven had summoned dispelling as the Beastmen retreated back into the forest, the survivors of that group scavenging some shinobi weapons as they did.
Tenten used the Kiba blades to match an older shinobi in kenjutsu as the Inuzuka of the same name caught a chokuto on his left arms metallic scales, already looking feral he plunged his right hand nails under the guard of his opponent, digging deep into the flesh beneath the ribs. The injured Iwa shinobi cried out in pain as he pulled away, Akamaru in Kiba's form on the other side of the Inuzuka fending off a young man wielding stone nunchucks.
Shikamaru watched, still recovering from the staggering amount of chakra stopping Han for even a short moment had cost him. The Nara was surprised that he wasn't just playing it up to get out of work, he really did want a chance to fight. Instead Shino watched over him as Asuma and Kurenai handled a pair of enemy ninja each, the jonin managing to hold those four at a standstill. The two Kumo genin were in kenjutsu deadlocks against older and more experienced katana wielding Iwa shinobi while their sensei, Samui, had another Iwa kunoichi on the defensive in a kenjutsu duel.
Neji and Lee fought side by side against a duo of Iwa taijutsu specialists, the bowl cut boy barely keeping up due to his injuries despite not having his weights on. The Hyuga was surprised his teammate could move at all, but silently covered any openings Lee's exhaustion left. Ino and Fu were having the easiest time, despite the Yamanaka facing off against a young man using Doton no Yoroi.
Shibuki was having the hardest time, using a surging blade of water to defend himself but draining his stamina too much against his opponents ordinary ninjato. Fu unfurled her chakra wings, catching the attention of the Konoha shinobi again as she kicked her opponent into Shibuki's opponent, throwing them off balance long enough for the green haired young kunoichi to throw scale powder out that flashed brightly with chakra.
Samui managed to deal with her opponent, disarming the kunoichi and punching the other woman in the throat before kicking her in the temple and leaping to assist Kurenai. The genjutsu mistress was glad for the assist, trapping both opponents in well timed double layered genjutsu, confusing their senses enough for the two kunoichi jonin to plunge their respective short blades, a kunai from Konoha and a tanto from Kumo taking out two more Iwa shinobi by the throat while they were still breaking the first genjutsu.
Baki fended off three enemy, with Kankuro providing ranged support with his puppet and Temari doing similar with her ninjutsu. One of them used Doton no Yoroi to ignore Temari's wind blades and Kankuro's poisoned weaponry, holding his breath as he charged through a gas bomb. The Suna jonin frowned as he palmed a kunai in his left hand and tested the stone against his blades edge, staggering to hold the arm back with the small blade.
Kankuro moved Karasu to defend Baki from the other two Iwa shinobi as Temari shot blades of Futon chakra in their paths with her fan, giving Baki enough time to focus his chakra and disarm his opponent at the elbow with a swift Futon no Jutsu. The Suna jonin followed up by shooting the same Futon no Jutsu Temari was using with his hands, catching one of the other Iwa jonin as they tried to dodge as Kankuro managed to catch the third with a stray senbon.
Choji was not having an easy time, fending off a pair of sai with a pair of kunai, barely managing a good defense and losing ground but at least avoiding taking any damage himself. Kurenai assisted Asuma as Samui leaped to do the same, trapping his opponents in genjutsu right as the other two jonin lined up fatal strikes with their blades. The remaining Iwa nin sensed the tide turning against them and made to retreat, however Lee managed to catch his and Neji's opponents in a Konoha Senpu as they made to back off, halting their escape and following up with a vicious combination of kicks that left the two older men unconcious and the already tired Lee panting and sweating.
Ino thought she dealt with her opponent thanks to Tsunade's training but the man had left behind a bunshin or used kawarimi with one, she hadn't seen which one exactly. Asuma tried to deal with two escaping shinobi but both managed to evade him with kawarimi, Samui finding the same issue when she tried to do similar. Neji frowned, "They used shunshin once they cleared line of sight, they got away." he informed, keeping his Byakugan active just in case.
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow as Lee's left arm became a large crustacean claw from the elbow down, much like Shizune now that he thought about it. Although in Lee's case he didn't use anything but taijutsu anyway, so the claw was just an additional weapon for the genin. The boy seemed quite proud of himself as he inspected his new 'natural' weapon.
