PADAWAN

Din Djarin is not himself and the man is terrified.

A/N: I'm a Trekkie though and through but I love the story of Din Djarin and Grogu. I don't need anything else. Also I am writing this because of the force/my inspiration Pedro Pascal and not for monetary gain. I have spoken.

Additional Characters: Cara Dune, Fennec Shand, Bobba Fett, Bo Katan Kryze, Koska Reeves, Luke Skywalker

Note: This event happened after Luke Skywalker took Grogu from Mando and they entered the elevator in Season 2 Episode 16. The chapters might sometimes be long or short depending on the story plot.

CHAPTER 4

SECRET

Moff Gideon's Bridge-

The elevator closed with a hiss ferrying Grogu with the Jedi who would now be his son's teacher and guardian. Din Djarin couldn't peel his eyes off from the closed door as if he wanted the last image of the boy burned in his brain.

He was surprised that he felt good at his decision. It was not a happy one of course, but he was at peace in his heart. He believed that the Jedi will not let anything come between him and the little one. The arrival of someone who could competently protect the boy made everything that the Mandalorian went through worth it.

His gloved hand brushed the saber on his right hip. After a thought he switched it to his left hip. Few people could impress the hunter when it comes to fighting but that Jedi is on a different level. Yeah, I think I need to learn how use it well. I might drop in Corvus and challenge Ahsoka to a friendly duel or two.

On the upper deck of the bridge Bo Katan looked back at Koska Reeves as if the other woman was playing a joke on her but the younger member of the Nite Owls looked back at the leader with a steady gaze.

Bo Katan took a deep breath, "Show me again." She whispered as she sat in the chair. Koska pushed a button to play the footage. With eyes narrowed she leaned forward and played with the controls.

When she stood up Bo's face was a blank mask. "So," she said in a clear voice, brow arched. "You're a force wielder as well."

Din Djarin stood stock still at the words. Casually, he got his helmet from the floor and slid it on.

Fennec Shand and Cara Dune had matching frowns on their faces. Both looked around in confusion on which one of them Bo was talking about, until Koska Reeves smugly pointed between them.

"What do you mean?" Cara swung around, confused.

Bo Katan crossed her arms, "Your friend is hiding a secret, Marshall. Don't you," she almost purred the question, "Din Djarin?"

Cara raised a brow at Din, "That's ridiculous." She snorted as she faced Bo. "Where'd you get that idea?"

Bo Katan languidly gestured to the monitor where she left her helmet. "See for yourself."

Cara's smirk slowly melted when her eyes fell on Shand who was staring at Din with an expression as if the assassin found an answer to her question. The former dropper turned serious eyes on her friend, "What's she saying?" but the Mandalorian remained quiet. "What will I see there?" she pressed him.

"I don't know." They might not have caught the husky reply if the bridge isn't as quiet as a tomb.

"Huh." Cara grunted as she turned her attention back on that screen and again to Din Djarin. She tapped her fingers on her weapon; a habit that Din recognized whenever the dropper turned Marshall is indecisive.

"I want to take a look." Shand sprinted up to the dais.

Din stood on approximately the same spot where he said his farewell to Grogu. It took a lot out of him emotionally when he removed his helmet because he couldn't deny that simple request anymore. The boy had been trying to get a glimpse of him for a long time now. The two of them even made a game out of it.

Now that the helmet's back no one would see the beads of sweat that broke on his forehead. He cursed to himself for not turning the fan on.

"Okay…" Cara drawled, "I will…"

"This is Fett.' Crackled the coms, "Acknowledge."

Fennec pressed her earpiece, "I think we are done here. You can swing by. Mando…" The assassin lifted her head and looked at the group. "We'll wait but don't be long." She raised a meaningful brow to Din who nodded without looking at Fennec. She left a parting glance at Dune who nodded back then strode towards the lift.

With four of them left one can cut the tense situation with the dark saber. Din stood relaxed but ready to spring into action in case Katan or Reeves decide to do something rash or violent even.

"Well, this is awkward." Bo Katan smirked. She went to the console and cradled her helmet under her arm. "We will leave you to your decision, Marshall." The woman stopped before Din. "You won the dark saber in fair combat, Din Djarin. Whether you want it or not you have a responsibility to our people now." She felt him tense at her words. "That is what it means to wield that weapon. Be one with that weapon; that is all the advice I can give you." To Dune, "We will take Gideon to the transport."

Koska bent down and injected something to Moff Gideon. "What's that?" Marshall Dune questioned the woman.

"It's a sedative so he won't give us trouble." Both female Mandalorian grabbed hold of the Imperial officer and with a closing hiss of the lift they left Cara and Din.

"Cara…" Din took a step.

The Marshall swiftly went to the console and slid a data cylinder; it immediately began copying every bit of information about Moff Gideon's operation. "We need to go." She nodded the order after the cylinder finished flashing.

"Don't you want to see what Bo Katan was talking about?" Din cautiously followed Dune two steps behind.

The Marshall snorted, stopped at the lift and faced him, "Nah. I saw. You did this," she stretched out a hand behind her and used her weapon to demonstrate exactly what she saw. "I was way ahead of those two." She said smugly.

The Mandalorian shook his head in disbelief. "You should be pissed at me."

She shrugged matter-of-factly. "Oh well, I could do that. Or, " The lift hissed open and they both stepped in. "You can tell me all about it on the way down."

Luke Skywalker gasped slightly as he was about to flip the switch of the hyper drive.

It felt…

The Jedi looked up at the huge cruiser looming over his tiny craft; craning his neck. There. He mouthed the word.

The pilot almost rose from his seat. From stem to stern he scanned the ship meticulously. It was gone! The man slowly settled back in the pilot's seat.

How strange…

He turned to the little boy fast asleep on the seat to his left. Poor tyke. He needs sustenance and a lot of rest. "Yes, R2, we are going. Stop reminding me." The man addressed the droid in a long suffering voice.

With a resigned sigh the young man fired up his engines and left in a streak of light.
