Alright this is the chapter you've all been waiting for! There shouldn't be anymore angst for the rest of this story. I think I have everything laid out for the rest of this. As always I don't own Pitch Perfect or any of the characters.
Chapter 25
Beca's POV
I arrive at the coffee shop 15 minutes early. Not on purpose, but I was so anxious about meeting Chloe today that I hardly slept and practically ran all the way here. I go up to the counter and order myself a large black coffee and find a table near the window so Chloe can easily find me. Chloe seemed fine in her texts, but maybe that was just her trying to be nice. She might be mad at me. I've never really seen an angry Chloe, she is usually always so happy and bubbly. Maybe that is why I'm freaking out so much, maybe I misread everything with her. Maybe she was never actually flirting with me, maybe that's just how she is with all of her friends. God I really think I fucked up.
I'm only able to freak myself out for 5 minutes when I see Chloe walk into the shop. She gives me a small wave and a huge smile as she walks up to the counter to order. So she's definitely not mad at me. I think. I find myself staring at her while she's waiting to get her drink. She is dressed in her usual Bellas workout attire, leggings, crop top and a sports bra underneath. Her hair is up in a ponytail, nothing too fancy, but she looks really good. Before I know it she is turning around and walking towards the table. I can feel my cheeks heat up as a smirk begins to form on her lips. I know that I've been caught staring at her. As she gets closer to the table I use everything in me to try and stop my leg from bouncing and quickly wipe the sweat from my palms on my pants.
"Hey Becs! So happy to see you today! How are you doing with everything?" Chloe says as she arrives at the table. Before she sits down she stops by me and leans in to kiss me on the cheek. I feel the blush that's already there intensifying. Definitely not mad at me.
"Ummm… yeah, hey! I'm uhhh… good… I guess. I talked with Jesse last night. How are you?" I manage to get out without hopefully sounding too stupid.
"I'm doing great!" Chloe says with a huge smile on her face. She reaches out and grabs one of my hands off the table. "Hey Becs, you don't need to be nervous." She almost whispers to me. I slowly manage to look up from my coffee and make eye contact with her. She's using that sweet, comforting smile that I love so much.
"Chlo, listen… I'm sorry about yesterday. I was really upset about my dad and you were there and you were being so nice. Which isn't an excuse becau-"
"Becs, it's fine!" She interrupts me, "I liked it." She says, now looking shy, which isn't a look I've seen from her before.
"You what?" I can't hide the shock in my voice. Maybe I wasn't imagining anything.
"I liked the kiss Becs. I've been wanting to kiss you from the moment I met you. I just didn't want to scare you and I was afraid that you didn't like me back. I just never wanted to ruin our friendship." I can see that Chloe is blushing now. I can't believe the words coming out of her mouth.
"Chloe, I've wanted to kiss you since the first time I met you as Aubrey's roommate. Then you kept coming around because you and Bree became best friends and the attraction grew. I knew we couldn't do anything though because you are Bree's best friend, but then we started hanging out this year. The more I got to know you, you became my best friend and it was more than just a physical attraction. Chlo, I really like you, so much that it kind of scares me. I've never felt like this about anyone. You've been so good to me, especially recently with all the stuff with my dad."
"Becs, if you want to, I'd really love to take you on a date. Don't worry about Bree, she already gave me her blessing." Chloe chuckles.
"Wait, she gave you her blessing to date me?" Chloe nods her head. "Chlo, she gave me her blessing to date you!" We both start laughing at this.
After we both manage to stop laughing I look at the time on my phone, 8:55. "Shit Chlo! We've got to go, practice starts in 5 minutes! We're gonna be late!" We throw away our garbage and leave the coffee shop. I'm about to start rushing to practice when Chloe grabs my arm and pulls me closer to her.
"Chloe what are you doing we're gonna be late?" We are inches apart now. I can feel her breath on my face.
"Shhh Becs it's fine even if we run there we're gonna be late. They're gonna talk about why we're late, so let's give them something to talk about." Before I can ask what she means Chloe closes the small gap between us and kisses me. This kiss is much better than the one last night. It is slow and passionate. Our lips fit together perfectly and move in sync. Even though I don't want to, I pull away slightly for some air. We rest our foreheads together standing in the middle of campus.
"That was the perfect ending to our first date don't you think Becs?" Chloe whispers, out of breath.
"First date?" I ask slightly confused.
"If that's okay with you? I just don't think I could wait anymore." I pull her into another kiss. It doesn't last as long as the previous one, but it is just as good.
"I agree. What'd you say to having our second date this evening?" I can't help the smile forming on my face when I ask the question.
"I'd say that sounds perfect Beca Mitchell!" She moves away from me and grabs my hand starting to pull me in the direction of the auditorium. "However, I get to ask you on date three, not fair that you got to ask me out the first two times." She starts giggling at that.
"Technically I didn't ask you on the first date, it was you who decided it was a date!" I argue.
"Well Beca that might technically be true, but if I remember correctly it was you who asked me to come today. In my books that's you asking me out." She looks so smug right now I just want to kiss her. I then remember that I can so I stop walking and pull her in for a quick kiss.
"Now Becs, if we want to make it to practice at all today we need to stop making out." Chloe teases
"Who said I want to make it to practice?" I joke back.
"If you don't want Bree to be pissed at us, then I think we should probably make it there. Plus we're already" She pulls out her phone to check the time "Shit 30 minutes late!"
