"So this is the Lookout," Ling said as she arrived at Kami's Lookout with Piccolo. On the way, Piccolo explains to Ling who Kami is and that he and Kami used to be one person but split into two. He also explains that if one dies the other dies too and the Dragon Balls no longer work.
"You've never been here before?" Piccolo asked.
Ling shakes her head, "No, I think Gohan tried to take me and Trunks here, but all we found was an empty spot in the sky. Gohan looked a bit sad,"
"I think the Androids of your time destroyed the Lookout. Unfortunate because they are things in this place that could aid in your training,"
"So that's why Gohan was so upset," Ling thought. She recalled the day when Gohan tried to take her and Trunks to the lookout but there was nothing. But Gohan didn't lose heart, he continued training Ling and Trunks the way he has been.
Two people soon approached Piccolo and Ling. They were Kami and Mr. Popo.
"Hello, Piccolo, it's rare that you come to visit," Kami said with a warm voice.
Piccolo points at Ling with his thumb, "This is Ling and she has great power but she has a hard time controlling it. She needs special training so she better harness it,"
"Always straight to the point," Kami smiles and holds his chin and thinks of what kind of training to put Ling through, "I got it, follow me," Kami lends Ling into inside the Lookout. Piccolo and Mr. Popo followed after them. Ling soon finds herself in a dark room with a glowing circle in the middle and what looks like a pendulum hanging from the ceiling.
"I took Krillin and the others here when they needed training," Kami explains.
"Oh! Where were they training for the Saiyan invasion? Gohan told me and my brother about the time when Vegeta invaded Earth. He had another Saiyan with him but I forgot his name," Ling said.
Kami nods, "Correct but the training was not enough as the Saiyans were too strong for them. But I hope this time will be different," he then points with his staff, "Now stand there and you will be transported to a safe location where you can learn how to control your powers. From what I saw, you need it,"
"You saw?!" Ling gasped and blushed.
"I can see everything and I know these Androids have infinite stamina so endurance training is in order. So that's why the enemies you're going to fight are weak but are great in number. Endurance and control are key to this training exercise," Kami explains.
"Got it and thanks," Ling smiles and holds out her hand.
"You're welcome," Kami smiles and shakes her hand. "I must ask you to give me your Scouter as you don't need it for your training,"
"Sure," Ling said and handed Kami her Scouter.
Ling steps on the spot Kami pointed. The circle glows and the pendulum starts to move. "Now close your eyes and see with your heart," Ling nodded and did what Kami said, Piccolo, walked up to Kami, "I have another reason why I'm here," Piccolo said.
Kami had a stern look on his face, "I know,"
When Ling opens her eyes finds herself in a strange location. She can tell this place is ravaged by a great battle and she's not on Earth. The sky and the scent of the air told her she was on a different planet. She decides to walk around instead of flying because Ki is used up when flying and Ling needs every bit Ki for this training exercise.
Ling continued to walk and stumbled across a large number of skeletal remains of Saiyans. She then spots a fountain that has a statue of a Saiyan holding a sword triumphantly over his head.
"I'm at the Saiyan homeworld?" Ling asked aloud then walked up to the fountain to drink some water. As she looks into the water, notices the black highlights in her hair and the scars on her face, "Damn it, must have happened when I lost control," she said with an annoyed tone and drank the water. For some strange reason, she felt at home. Maybe because she's a Saiyan or that the destroyed buildings remind her of home.
As she drinks the water, hears two voices coming from behind her.
"Now that's not you see every day, a white-haired Saiyan,"
"And a Saiyan wearing gold. Now let's see what the Scouter says about your power level, 3000. Not bad,"
Hearing those voices cause Ling to freeze and her heart starts to race. It's not fear she's feeling but excitement. It's not a good time of excitement. It's the type felt when a predator feels when finding their prey. Ling has never felt this before, "You should not rely on those Scouters in judging a person's power level," Ling said.
She teleports to one of the Saiyans and grabs him by the neck. He's bald, short and has some scars on his face. "Why you!" the taller Saiyan growls and tries to punch Ling but she grabs his neck too. She lets go of them and as they fall, punches them in the gut. Her first went right through them. "Oops, I used too much strength," Ling said and pulled her fist out.
As the two Saiyans fall to the ground lifelessly takes one of their Scouters, "Now, where am I," Ling said as she uses the Scouter. Though the display is in a different language, Ling can still read it. "I'm 100 years in the past?!" Ling gasped. The Scouter also tells her that she's on Planet Vegeta. Specifically, in a rural part of the planet.
Before Ling can explore this city, more Saiyans arrived. All of them are looking for a fight, "Bring it on!" Ling smiles and starts a counter on the Scouter. She wants to track how many Saiyans she had defeated. As she gets into a fighting stance, the sky darkens and stormy. "I don't need to use power to take you out," Ling said with a mocking smile.
Her words angered the other Saiyans and all of them rushed at her at once. The Saiyans who weren't fighting Ling watched her fight. They thought there was no way she could win this fight. But two hours later, their confident smiles faded when Ling was still fighting. She showed no signs of slowing down.
Saiyan bodies started piling up around the fountain. Whenever a Ki blast is fried at her, Ling uses her raw strength to knock it right back at them. "What? What are you?" a dying female Saiyan asked.
"I am the Saiyan Legend! I'm nobody's bitch, you are mine," Ling said not only to the dying Saiyan but to the other Saiyans still around her. Which made them angry and rushed at her again, "Weak," Ling said with a smile. She can't believe how untrained these Saiyans are. They leave so many openings and rely mostly on strength alone then on skill.
Ling is also using strength but she enforced it with skill. She uses everything she learned from Gohan to the fullest. "Strength means nothing if you don't have the skills to back it up!" that's what Gohan once told her and Trunks.
As she continues to fight the Saiyans, feels her material arts skills improve. She can now do most of them by instinct rather than thinking about them.
When the fight finally ended, Ling is holding the last Saiyan enemy by the armour, "It was an honour to die by the Saiyan Legend's hands," those were the last words the Saiyan said before dying.
"Well that was fun," Ling said and dropped the dead Saiyan. She smiles when she sees the end count of how many Saiyans she beat, "Nice 100," it was easy to get that many because these Saiyans are weak. They stood no chance against the Legendary Super Saiyan! The thought was enough to make her laugh.
Which she did but stopped when she heard how evil it sounded. Looking at her hands, Ling is horrified by how much blood is on them. She then recalls her fight with the Saiyans. How she killed them without mercy. Some tried to get away but Ling just shot them down. Some even begged for their lives but Ling just responded, "You're not worthy to call yourself a Saiyan, die!"
Her hands start to shake when she calls how she laughed evilly when a group of Saiyans teamed up on her, but their efforts were in vain and she killed them, "I-I was just like 17 and 18. Cold, ruthless…evil," Ling falls to her knees and starts to cry, "Why?! Is being evil a Saiyan's true nature? If so…" Ling punches the ground hard, "Why isn't Kakarot like this?! Why is he the lucky one? I'm a Saiyan just like him!"
Ling realized that the only way for her to not let the evil Saiyan nature take control of her again is if she closes her heart. To incase it into a block of ice. After all, it was her emotions that made her lose control. It was her emotions that caused her to attack Trunks. So it will be best for everyone if she locks her emotions away.
She didn't need to use her emotions to turn into a Super Saiyan because her body remembers it so she can do it instinctively.
Sensing some more Saiyans coming her way. Ling wipes the tears from her face and prepares to fight with no emotion.
When she was training in the pendulum room. She leaves it to find Piccolo. She tracks him down by sensing his Ki, which felt much bigger. Did he do some training too? She soon finds both Piccolo and Mr. Popo. But Kami is nowhere to be seen. "Here's Kami?" she asked.
Piccolo and Mr. Popo took notice of the lack of emotion in her voice. "Kami and I fuse because there's a new threat that has arrived on Earth," Piccolo said then asked, "What happened to you?"
"I conclude that evil runs deep in the hearts of us Saiyans but Kakarot is an expectation. I can't be like him so the best thing to combat my evil nature is to have a heart of ice," Ling explains.
It was then Piccolo realized the grave mistake of leaving Ling alone with her training. She's still a kid and kids make irrational decisions. "I'm sorry Bulma," Piccolo thought.
"What's the new threat?" Ling asked.
"I'm not sure, I was about to check and find out. Follow me," Piccolo said.
"Of course," Ling nods.
Piccolo turns to Mr. Popo and held out a hand to him, "Goodbye," he said with a warm smile.
Piccolo and Ling fly to Ginger Town. Ling's newly frozen heart is about to be tested.
