Game Corner (Part 1)
With only a short visit to the Pokemon Center to make sure my fighting force was ready, I wasted no time. I wore my black clothing under my regular clothes and put the Jigglypuff mask in my pocket.
Sitting at one of the slot machines, I waited a bit to make sure no one was watching before I crept up towards the poster. Everyone was too distracted by their own machines to even notice. Acting as naturally as I could, I pressed the secret button, which released a lock on the wall beside it. I pushed open the secret door and walked down the stairs.
I went into stealth mode and sent out my Pikachu for recon (she was the smallest).
There indeed WERE Rocket guys. Down here, away from the eyes of the public, they were dressed freely in their ugly Team Rocket uniforms. There were some computers, file cabinets, and crates containing who-knows-what required for their evil deeds. It was not hard to sneak around down here, being a basement with no windows and not the brightest lighting. It also helped that I was in the body of a small boy.
They were on patrol and were doing mundane tasks like checking something on the computer or moving crates, taking things out of them, etc. I waited for them to be alone, and then I snuck up on them, telling Primeape to hit them gently at the back of their heads, knocking them out. I had my Tangela provide the vines to tie them up very tightly, and put tape over their mouths and eyes so they wouldn't be a nuisance.
I did this while checking out all the rooms on B1 floor, occasionally gathering useful Pokemon items. I even found a small safe that I had Charmeleon cut open with his Steel Claw, and discovered wads of cash.
"Holy money!" I couldn't contain myself. I stuffed all the bills in my knapsack. Not only was this a nice pay day, it was also going to put a dent into Team Rocket's plans.
It's hard to do evil deeds without the funds. Perhaps a few of the newer Rocket members would quit being Rockets if they found out they weren't gonna get their next paycheck.
On three occasions it was impossible for me to avoid battle, due to where and how the Rockets were patrolling. In these cases, it was easy for me to destroy these dudes with my overpowered team.
"How can a kid be so strong…!" One of them said as my Graveler knocked him unconscious.
His Ekans and Machop had been defeated easily by my team.
And then another dude recognized me.
"You! You Jigglypuff mask!" He said, but not long before also being knocked unconscious.
In B2 I found more valuables and a bit more cash. I took out a few more Rockets here and tied them up. I found an elevator but required a special key card to even open the doors, and none of the goons I knocked out so far had them. I had no choice but to take the stairs to B3.
In B3 I found two Rockets standing outside a particular door, standing guard. I was able to eavesdrop without being seen.
"How long are we supposed to guard her anyways? I'm so bored," one said to the other.
"I dunno, man, we just gotta follow instructions."
Hmm… 'Guard her'? Anyone that the Rockets were keeping captive was potentially someone that I should be saving. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Standing around the corner and out of sight, I took out the two guards by having my Gloom release her Sleep Powder at a slow, controlled rate. I then had Pidgeotto fan her wings gently toward the two guards. By the time they had noticed the purple powders, it was too late.
"I'm …. so… sleepy…" one of them said.
"Wagarbralargaba…." the other replied.
I tied them up and retried a key card from one of them. It opened the door they were guarding.
It was a large room, almost pitch black. It also didn't help that there were stacks of crates impeding the vision all the way to the back. It was the stereotypical evil lair storage room slash hostage room.
"Wha…? Who's there?" I heard a weak voice from the back. A… girl's voice…?
There was a single yellow lightbulb illuminating a person tied to a chair. And the face of the fatigued and disoriented (but thankfully, not physical beaten up) face was… Erina! My friend from Mt. Moon.
"Erina! What are YOU doing here?!" I said, motioning to my Raticate to bite through the ropes. I removed my Jigglypuff mask and splashed some water from a bottle to wake her up from a daze. Most likely intoxication from inhaling gas from a Team Rocket's Koffing.
"It's…you…!" She was weak, but she recognized me and her pupils were coming into focus. It was a good sign.
"Come on, let's get you out of here," I said, helping her up and drew her arms around my shoulder.
"Wait! It's a trap!" She woke up enough to warn me.
From outside the room, I heard the warning screeches from my Zubat, whom I had instructed to use echolocation to detect anyone approaching. And indeed there were.
"Eek! Eek! Eek! Eek! Eek!" Zubat screeched. So at least 5 approaching Rockets, and probably more.
"Hahaha! You feel right into our trap, GREEN!" the one in the middle of the group said. The Rockets had their typical Pokemon out to fight: Ekans, Koffing, Machop, Rattata, etc.
I immediately judged in my head that it wouldn't be a problem for me to muscle my way through these noobs. But I had to do it quickly. There was a difference between sneaking around taking out Rockets in small numbers and being surrounded by all of them all at once. The longer we stayed, the harder it would be for us to make it out unscathed. And the fact that Erina needed to get to a doctor to make sure she wasn't poisoned was more important than anything.
But why did the Rocket think that I'm Green?
As my Pokemon were going berserk over the Rockets, Erina gathered enough strength to speak again.
"Is she here? Did she come with you?!" she asked, urgently.
"Uh, no. I came alone. Who is 'she'? And what are you doing here anyways?"
But before she could say more, I heard more shrieks from Zubat, who flew back to my position. It was bad. It meant that there were more people than he could "eek."
"Well, I guess it's time for some serious ass-kicking," I said, getting ready to unleash more of my Pokemon, but then suddenly the lights went off in the entire floor.
The whole floor turned pitch black for a few seconds because there were no windows, but then the red emergency lights kicked in so we could just barely see.
"He's here!" I heard a Rocket shout from way back in their lines.
"Get him! He's just one guy!"
"Ekans, Koffing, ATTACK!"
But soon these turned into screams of agony and pain, as something started taking them out. The Rockets had originally surrounded me, but now they were the ones that were surrounded, their Pokemon being knocked out by my own, and whatever was behind them.
Eventually, the unconscious bodies of the Rockets and their Pokemon piled up and I could see what was happening on the other side. It was a giant Exeggutor, Victreebel, and Vileplume that were hilariously overpowering the Rocket Pokemon. And while this team was efficiently taking out Rocket Pokemon, there was a person, clad in all black, wearing a motorcycle helmet with dark green tints. It was Green.
Rocket tried to punch and kick and tackle Green, but it was all too easy for Green to take them out in hand-to-hand combat. It was like watching Batman take out goons. Green's speed and accuracy in combat was something to admire. The fact that his face was covered and he didn't say anything as he was doing this made him scarier. I was glad that he was on our side. Kinda slimmer than I thought he would be, though.
It was down to the last guy, and Victreebel was holding him in the air up by his throat using her vines.
"Argh, ekg…" he was struggling to breathe.
"Where's your boss?" Green said, his voice scrambled.
"I'll never tell-" and then Green punched him in the face, knocking him out.
Exeggutor headbutted the security cameras in the hall, and when the coast was clear, Green took off his helmet.
"Sis!" Erina ran up and gave him a hug.
I mean… HER.
Green was none other than the Celadon City Gym Leader, Erika.
