Kiba and I spent the day relaxing. For the most part, we've been letting the getting to know one another happen more naturally. Some things we know won't, but the rest can.
We played a handful of board games. Monopoly, trouble, tic tac toe, and even connect four. I found out one of Kiba's dislikes with that one. He's apparently not a fan of cats but will tolerate them. When I play Monopoly, I usually pick the cat or dog. They're my favorite game pieces and some of the easiest to pick up and move.
Since Kiba picked the dog, I chose the cat. That sparked a funny conversation. Then later it got a little awkward. It went something like this.
Kiba and I decided to play some board games, besides to have fun, in hopes of sparking likes and dislikes for our next progress report. Kiba goes to the closet in the hallway and pulls out an array of board games for us to play.
One of the boxes in the middle was Monopoly. "Ooh, can we play that one first?" I asked excitedly. "Which one's that?" He asks. I blush a little upon realizing that I forgot he's got multiple boxes in his hand, and I didn't specify which one I meant. "Um, M-Monopoly." I point to the game box in the middle. He smiles. "Sure." He closes the closet door and walks over to the kitchen table. Kiba sits the boxes down and pulls out the game I wanted. I sit in a chair and start setting up the game.
I get the game situated and set out all the pieces. "Which one do you wanna be?" I gesture towards the metal tokens. "The dog one of course." He grins and snatches up the dog token. I snicker. "Fine, guess I'll be the cat one then." Kiba looks at me funny. "The cat one, really?" "Yeah. You picked the dog token, so I'll just go with the cat one." I shrugged and placed my token on the board with Kiba's. "S-Sorry, I'm just not a fan of cats." He explains, scratching the back of his head. I giggle. "I love both actually. I love most house pets honestly. Except snakes and spiders. Not a fan of them." I shudder at the thought. Kiba chuckles. "Gotcha." "When it comes to this game, I always pick the cat or dog token because I like their designs best and they're easy to move around the board." I explain. "I see. Ready to play now?" "Yeap." I put away the extra tokens and then grab dice and roll.
We played the quick version of the game and somehow Kiba won. He got so cocky about his win that he decided he wanted to make a bet with our game night. I decided to indulge him seeing as he couldn't ask for anything too crazy. "Maki, let's make a bet, shall we? Can't request anything crazy cause I don't want Neji to kill me." His cheeks get a little pink at that. "R-Right. Considering if you win of course." I feel my own blush creeping up on me. "So, what's the reward gonna be?" "Winner gets a shoulder massage if he or she can win the last game played. Can be redeemed whenever the winner chooses." He said. I nod.
A thought comes to mind and really makes me blush. Kiba notices and cocks his head to the side, faintly smirking. "What, the reward not good enough for ya?" I shake my head and blush more. I can't believe this even crossed my mind. But if I'm gonna ask I better do it now while I have the guts to. "So, um, what would it be if Neji wasn't a concern?" I bite my lip as I wait for an answer.
I watch his face turn a light shade of red. "I uh, never thought um... I guess if I could pick whatever I'd say a kiss of the winners choosing." "Winner's choosing?" I curiously tilt my head to the side. "Lips or cheek. Why, would you want that to be the reward instead or something?" His cheeks get a little redder. It was my turn to go red. "N-No, I was just curious in case I lost and wanted to know what you would say if there weren't any boundaries. I, I'll stick to the massage." "Okay. Let's get back to the games. I'll pick this time since you picked the first game." His cheeks slowly go back to their normal coloring. I nod.
In the end I lost. Now I have to give Kiba a shoulder massage whenever he requests for it. I have no clue when he'll ask for it. I hope he asks for it sooner rather than later so I can get the embarrassing moment over with. Maybe I should have okayed the other one. It's quick and he'd probably want that now instead of later. It also leaves me with the curious thought of what kiss he would have picked.
I shook my head, not needing to think about that. Kiba asked what I was thinking about. I fibbed and told him it was just a cold chill. He shrugged and reminded me it might get cold tonight. I waved it off and told him I would be fine. He chuckled and told me I knew where he was if I needed him. I rolled my eyes and stuck my tongue out at him.
Now I'm getting ready for bed. So far so good. I'm still warm so that's a plus. I'm glad their couch is so comfy cause I couldn't imagine sleeping on a not so comfy one for a month. I get situated and burrow under the plush blanket I've been using for about a week. I fall asleep once I get nice and warm.
I jolt awake shivering. I sit up and huddle my frozen toes. I figured it was going to get cold tonight but not this frigging cold. I don't have much of a choice. I have to see if Kiba's got another fluffy plush blanket I can use.
I groan, just wanting to go back to sleep. I quickly and quietly jog up to Kiba's room. When I get to his door, I knock kinda hard. I shift my weight side to side to keep from thinking about the cold while I waited.
It took long enough but the door finally opened and out came a sleepy eyed Kiba. "What's up, you okay Maki?" He asked, rubbing his eyes to try and wake up a little. "I, I'm c-cold. D-Do you have another warm blanket I c-could u-use?" I stutter, hugging myself to stay warm as possible. "I do but it's not plush. They're kind of stiff and itchy too. It should be fine though if you use the plush one as a base. I'll go get it and help you with it." He groggily answers. Kiba takes a step forward to go get me another blanket, but I spontaneously step in front of him. "C-Can I just sleep with you instead? I, I'm too cold and tired to wait." I ask, getting impatient. I swear I catch him blushing.
He clears his throat. "Come on then." He motions me in. I carefully make my way through Kiba's room to his bed. As I navigate through the dark room, I almost trip over my feet. Thankfully Kiba catches me. Instead of letting me continue on my own, he picks me up and places me on the bed. My face gets warm at this.
Once I realize how nice and warm the bed is, I clambered to get under the covers. I hear soft chuckling as the bed gently dips. "Shut up. I can't help I get cold easy." My face heats up once again. "Don't worry, I'll keep you nice and warm." Kiba says as he gets underneath the warm blankets. "What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, not thinking straight. I mean I only had a few hours of sleep before I woke up as a frostbitten popsicle. "Whatever you want it to mean." Kiba answers. "Oh." I didn't know what to say to that
What do I want it to mean? Do I want it to mean something else? Grrr, why does he have to say all the things with double meanings? "Sorry Maki, I didn't mean anything by it." He reaches his hand out and ruffles my hair. "Okay..." "Are you still cold?" He changes the subject. "A little bit." I pull the blanket closer to my neck. "I can warm you up faster if you let me." He offers. "How?" I ask curiously. "Let me hold you if you want to warm up faster." Kiba suggests. I want to politely decline his offer but I'm honestly too cold to say no. It should be okay though. He's proven he doesn't want to jeopardize my relationship with Neji.
I scoot closer to him. "There you go. You can face me or have your back to me. It's up to you and what you're most comfortable with." Kiba wraps his arms around me and holds me close. I'm definitely starting to warm up now. I snuggled close to his chest. He smells so good. "It's okay Maki, you'll be warm in a few minutes." He starts soothingly rubbing my shoulder. I close my eyes and lean into his touch.
I unconsciously nuzzle his arm. "Kiba?" I mumble his name sleepily. "Hm?" He responds. "Thank you." I smile. "What for?" He asks. "Warming me up." He chuckles softly. "No problem." "Let me know when you want that shoulder massage." I yawn. "I'll let you know by the end of the weekend." He strokes my hair. The warmer I get, the sleepier I get. I scoot as close to him as I possibly can. I even kind of wedge my knee between his legs to help out with comfortability. I don't know why, but I felt like I couldn't get close enough to his warmth. This will have to suffice.
I'm so sleepy yet I can't fall asleep. He was so sweet for sharing his bed with me and helping me stay warm. He's very gentlemanly. Not going to lie. I'm feeling really affectionate right now. I must be about to start soon.
I need to do my very best to contain it. I could hurt Kiba if I get too affectionate from my hormones. I gently squeeze his arm. "Hm? You okay?" He asks. "Mmhm." I breathe into his ear. "Nice and warm yet?" His voice is starting to sound husky. I do my best not to get enchanted by it. "Almost." I let out a small yawn. "Good."
After a few seconds Kiba yawns. I don't know if it's because of how sleepy I am, but his yawn sounds kind of hot. My face gets really hot at this thought. I groan in frustration. I must have groaned more audibly than I thought because the next thing I know Kiba was checking my temperature with the back of his hand. "You okay? Your forehead's kind of warm. I'm not giving you a fever am I?" He really sounded concerned. "N-No, I'm fine, promise." I bury my face in his chest from all the embarrassment.
I unsquish my hands and reach to hug him. Instead of feeling his T-shirt, I felt skin. I froze for a few seconds before jerking away. "I, I should turn over. I, I feel like I'm groping you or something." "Wouldn't mind if you actually did." I hear him mumble something. "Huh?" What did he just say? Kiba clears his throat. "N-Nothing." "O-Okay, I'm, I'm just going to turn over now." I slowly start to turn over in his arms. "Careful, you might feel something you don't mean to." Kiba warns.
By the time I realize what he's talking about, I've scooted down just a little too far. My face gets as red as Kiba's clan markings. I jerk upwards and cling tightly to his arm. He does his best to comfort me. "Shh, it's okay. I'm not normally like this. It's from it being so cold out." "T-That, that felt weird." I mumble. He doesn't comment on my response. His free hand begins to rub my side.
I hadn't noticed my shirt raised until his warm hand came into contact with my skin. My skin shivered and tingled. The touch of heat felt so good. After a few passes I started to get used to his touch, but not quite. I may only have imagined it but I thought I felt him kiss my head.
A few more passes went by. Each surge of warmth made me miss the skin on skin touch once it passed. The next time his hand glided over my skin, I pressed my hand on his, stopping him from going back up. The heat from his hand surged through my body.
I feel warmer and more content now. "Did I do something wrong?" He asked, his voice filled with husky inflections. "N-No.." I'm not sure of the right words but I had to let him know he's not doing anything I don't want. "What is it?" He asks. "I, I know I shouldn't be sleeping with you like this but it's just too cold not to curl up to someone.." I explain. "Are you warm enough now?" He gives me a little squeeze. "F-For the most part." I close my eyes and just lay there. "I'll always be there for you." He breathes in my ear. Chills wash over me from the way his voice sounded. His thumb starts stroking my arm. "I'm not making you uncomfortable am I?" "N-No.. I, I am comfy though." I'm glad the lights are off so he can't see the dark red blush on my face. "I'm glad. I'm really enjoying your company." Kiba gives me another squeeze. "Me too." I say so softly I'm not even sure he could understand what I said. I'm so warm now. He's a comfy pillow and nice heater.
My skin tingles when I feel him rubbing my exposed side. I hadn't realized my hand dropped from his. Neji would kill me if he saw us like this but it's too frigging cold. Besides, we just want to go back to sleep. Nothing more, nothing less.
The longer Kiba rubs my side, the more I start to nod off. I really like this. It's so soothing. Neji doesn't really do this much. Maybe once in a blue moon. He usually rests his hand on my side or my belly.
My hormonal emotional side wants more. But I can't ask or have more. I'm pushing my boundaries with Kiba to the limit as is. Maybe even slightly over with how we're planning to sleep.
My thoughts are slipping. I can't think anymore. I'm losing some of my grip on his arm. I feel heavier. Now nothing matters anymore as I lie here bundled up against Kiba to keep warm during this cold ass night. Sleep takes me into its arms like an old friend.
