Enola: The Last Unicorn To Middle Earth Chapter 2
From inside the pen she's corralled in Enola observes the Hobbit with great intrigue as she watches him silently sneak around these ghastly Stone Trolls toward the petrified ponies.
In the beginning, it appears like the Hobbit's skills in stealth are well-founded for he almost makes it to the captive ponies. Making sure he's not too overly conspicuous for this important and delicate task.
But then whatever plan he had in mind to free them is horridly upended when a Stone Troll reaches behind him for some fabric, instead grabbing the Hobbit and using him to blow his nose. The Trolls then realize there's an intruder in their camp and have suddenly become even more unfriendly.
Just as they're trying to figure out what to do with the Hobbit a Dwarf comes careening out of the forest.
Swinging his sword the Dwarf stabs one of the Stone Trolls in the leg, demanding that they drop the Hobbit.
As soon as the Stone Trolls throw the Hobbit at the Dwarf more of them emerge from the surrounding woods into the small campsite clearing, eleven of them all out for blood. They attack the Trolls in full force.
Enola watches this all from her pen.
With the Stone Trolls now distracted the Hobbit finally reaches the captive ponies. He uses a crude knife the Stone Trolls had to cut through the rope keeping them in at the gate. Once they're free the ponies make a break for it and that's when he notices Enola, her horn glimmering from the flickering golden flames from the fire and the moonlight.
Staring at her in sheer wonderment, the Hobbit said "By the stars, a unicorn. A real unicorn."
Enola whickers, blinking sparkling violet eyes at him, tossing her head in a graceful flourish with her mane waving elegantly.
So this Hobbit can see her for what she is?
His heart is pure, believing in magic creatures such as her.
Shaking himself out of the shocked awe and admiration of her radiant beauty, the Hobbit said "Don't worry. I'm going to get you out of here, too. Just give me a moment."
The Hobbit has barely begun cutting through the ropes on her pen when he's caught by the Stone Trolls. Two of them holding his limbs and threatening to tear him apart should the Dwarves not drop their weapons and surrender.
While the Stone Strolls were tying them up and putting most of them in sacks and the rest on a rolling spit over the fire a lot of names were thrown around. So she is able to figure out who the Hobbit and Dwarves are.
All hope appears to be lost for them when Bilbo hops in his sack for the Stone Trolls to divert their attention to him. For no reason at all he tells them they don't know how to cook Dwarf and that the Stone Trolls should skin them first. The Dwarves are outraged to hear this, fighting to get at him in their restraints. Enola, too, is baffled by why the Hobbit would be talking about this. But then she catches a glimpse of a very familiar figure moving in the underbrush.
Gandalf the Grey.
Ah, so that is the Hobbit's game.
Bilbo is distracting the Stone Trolls so Gandalf can get into position and use sunlight as a weapon.
If only the Dwarves can see the bigger picture.
It's when he mentions the Dwarves have parasites that Thorin figures out Bilbo's intentions. One kick from him to his nephew's head causes the rest to do the same. Soon the whole pack of them is shouting that they have parasites and the Stone Trolls don't know what to do.
Enola is impressed with how resourceful this Hobbit has turned out to be in stalling for time. The sun will be up in a few more moments and the Stone Trolls don't even notice. So busy with the one in front of them, playing the trio for fools that is using his wits.
Just as the Stone Trolls are losing patience and figuring out what Bilbo is up to Gandalf strikes.
"The dawn will take you all," boomed Gandalf, appearing on top of a boulder.
"Whose that?"
"Can we eat him, too?"
Gandalf bangs his staff on the boulder, the rock splits in half with one side crumbling.
The rising sun's rays pour into the campsite transforming the Stone Trolls into what their name entails.
Within seconds they have turned to stone forever.
The Dwarves cheer at the timely save, happy that they're doing to be living another day.
Bilbo and Gandalf free the Dwarves.
When they're done Bilbo approaches Enola.
"Easy there. You're free now," said Bilbo, cutting open the corral.
Trotting out into the open Enola nuzzles Bilbo, gently caressing his face with her muzzle in thanks. Her tickling whiskers make Bilbo smother a giggle.
At last noticing she is here, Gandalf gasped "My goodness, Enola! I have not seen you for an age!"
"Who is Enola," said Bofur, not seeing anyone else around besides them.
"I am Enola, Master Dwarf," she said.
"Who said that," said Dori, snapping his head left and right.
Chuckling softly, Enola said "I did."
"You can talk," said Thorin, eyes narrowed.
Nodding her head to show she can quite clearly understand them, posh, Enola said "Most certainly. All unicorns have the ability to speak. Unicorns have carried it and our own branch of magic since the first of us was created. I would be astonished if there had been one that couldn't."
"My Dear Friends, allow me to introduce to you, Enola, the Last Unicorn of Middle Earth," said Gandalf, grinning from ear to ear at their various gawking expressions.
Bending her front legs in a polite and formal bow, lowering her head gracefully, Enola said "A pleasure to meet all of you."

Apologies for the long wait everybody!
I cannot begin to describe how apologetic I am for taking so heinously long to get back on track. It's difficult when you have so many ideas flying around to start on one and then another just pops out in your head. From this day forward that's all gonna change.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
By the way whose been watching House of the Dragon? I am so in love with Prince Daemon. He is a dream. Matt Smith was the perfect person to play that character.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure.
