I don't own Yu-gi-oh only my Oc. After this chapter it will be a time skip to her teenage years in.. highschool! She'll meet Yugi and the gang!
Chapter 4
"Kiara, just stay with us and don't run off." Her father said softly. "We'll introduce you to some of the people that we know."
"Some of them have kids your age." Her mother spoke. "It's important to know them for future business, when you want to work with them."
"Okay...but what if that person isn't that nice." Kiara said
"Even if they aren't nice it's all business." Her grandfather spoke up. "You can't be buddy-buddy with anyone the only person you can rely on is yourself, you have to learn that, this is the real world."
Catherine glanced at her husband, letting out a soft sigh. She looked at her daughter holding a small bouquet of roses each a different color, when she asked why would Kiara want to bring it, her answer was 'To make people i meet smile.' Thinking it would help break the ice she let her bring the small bouquet.
The limousine stopped outside a large venue in the heart of Domino City. The young blue-haired girl stepped out of the vehicle with her parents,She saw the bright flashes of cameras and saw crews from television stations filming around here.
Kiara took a deep breath and straightened her posture just like her mother had taught her and walked with her parents inside.
Her father advanced forward guiding them both to a group of people. "These are the people that I previously told you about."
"You all know my wife Catherine...and I'd like to introduce my daughter Kiara to you." he began as the young blue-haired girl smiled shyly. Everyone greeted her with welcoming smiles.
"This is Jack Willow." he began, gesturing to a middle-aged man in a dark gray suit. "He's in the marketing department Next to him his wife Susie."
"Hello." they greeted back warmly.
"This is Gale Silvers. He works in software and computer programming for the company. Next to him his wife Lily."
"Lastly we have Tatiana Torrez. She's head of the company's legal department."
"Nice to meet you." She said, taking Kiara's hand into a firm shake, while letting out a squeal. "Can I just say that She looks so adorable! She looks like an angel in that dress!" she gushed, earning a small blush from Kiara.
"Thank you." Kiara replied bashfully."My mom picked it out."
Catherine couldn't help but smile at the young girl's words. Kiara glanced around wondering where her grandfather went. Before she could ask her mother answered.
"He's probably talking to one of his friends...well...more like a longtime acquaintance." Catherine said softly.
"Who?" Kiara asked
"Gozaburo Kaiba." Catherine replied. "You'll meet him through the night...if he isn't busy that is."
'I think i heard that name somewhere…'Kiara thought 'Wait...didn't i see him on the news? Something about winning a chess championship?'
"So this is your daughter Herr Kenji?" A thick german voice said
"Yes, Kiara this is Mr. Schroeder and his son Zigfried." Kenji said introducing the young girl to the older man and his son.
Kiara looked at the older man then stared at the young Zigfried he's slightly taller than her, she gave him a friendly smile, The young boy took her hand and placed a kiss at the back of her palm, she blushed at his action she only read it from her fairytales of a prince doing that to the heroine. When he looked up he froze, he saw the light color on her cheeks, the brightest blue eyes, long eyelashes buttoned nose and soft pink lips.
"Your hair…" Kiara spoke up at the young boy.
He was brazing himself for what she was going to say, he got used to kids his age poking fun at his odd hair color. Even girls making fun of it too often calling him bumble gum prince something they saw in a cartoon show that he grew to dislike.
"Your hair is so pretty!"
Wait what? His head shot up looking at the bright smile on her lips. It was the most innocent smile from her.
"It's the prettiest color I've ever seen!" Kiara gushed.
Suddenly he felt his cheeks flush a bright crimson the first sincere compliment he ever gotten from a girl, it caught him off guard.
"Your hair color reminds me of this pretty rose." Kiara said taking out the pink lavender colored rose from her colorful bouquet. She leaned in to put the rose on his front pocket, she smiled brightly.
"Ah...thank you." He muttered out.
"You're welcome." Kiara said
"Would...you like to dance?" He asked Kiara glanced at her father as he nodded in approval, she gave the bouquet to her mother as the young boy took her hand.
"It seems that our children like each other Herr Kenji." He said
"It seems so." Kenji agreed seeing Kiara dance with the young heir. "I'm sure they'll be good friends."
"Friends? I was thinking something else, Herr Kenji. After all your daughter is an heir to your father's company." He said "I've spoken to Herr Jiro about a business proposition-"
"A proposition?" Kenji repeated raising an eyebrow.
"Is this your first time in a large scale party?" Zigfried asked
"Yes." Kiara said "The place is big and pretty...are all business parties like this?"
"It will depend on who organizes it." The young boy replied taking her hand as they heard the soft waltz music, One hand was resting on her shoulder while his other held hers. He'd know he would have to hold her, Zigfried practice it so many times with instructors to learn for all the occasions but now he felt unsure because of his dance partner even though he was the one that asked her, he just felt unsure about it now.
"Um….are you okay?" The young girl softly asked. Zigfried nodded as he took the lead and they danced the waltz.
Kiara couldn't help but smile, she was having fun and so far hasn't stepped on Zigfried's feet….at least not yet anyway she had to learn the basic waltz just yesterday and this morning. She did learn to focus on a focal point to help her be at ease when dancing so she stared at the rose in the boy's front pocket, sadly she accidentally missed a step stepping on the boy's foot.
"Ouch." Zigfried hissed.
"Ah... I'm sorry!" Kiara apologized stopping for a second. "I'm not used to dancing... I guess it shows that i'm not very good at it...I'll understand if you want to stop."
"Let's keep dancing..it would be a shame to stop now." Zigfried said Kiara smiled.
He didn't know why just that smile made him feel strangely happy, again he took the lead and they continued dancing. Minutes into the dance Kiara started gaining a little confidence she looked up staring at his aqua eyes smiling happily, as soon as the music slowed down they slowed down once it ended completely, Kiara smiled.
"Thank you, it was fun dancing with you." Kiara said
There was such sincerity in her voice, that before he realized what he was doing, Zigfried gently took her hand kissing it once again.
The children went back to their parents, through the night young Kiara met different kinds of people at the party. Almost at the end, she met up with her grandfather who was engrossed in a conversation with another older man.
Jiro took Kiara's hand. "This is Kiara, my granddaughter, Kiara say hello to Gozaburo Kaiba. " he said Kiara looked up at the older tall man, with gray hair and a mustache, wearing a red business suit, a black tie, and a white inner long-sleeved dress shirt.
"So she's the child Kenji adopted." He said looking at Kiara.
"Nice to meet you." Kiara said softly shaking his hand, the moment she touched his hand she felt a chill go down her spine, making her let go and hold herself. 'What was that? I just felt something very cold...nothing I've ever felt..' She looked at Gozaburo, something about this man made her feel unsafe. 'I don't like him..….'
"Kiara why don't you go to your parents, I'll have a chat with about a business proposition," Jiro said patting the young girl's head.
She nodded and excused herself feeling a little relieved that she didn't have to stay near that man that gave her the cold chills.
After the party Kiara and her family went home, She changed to soft blue pajamas and went to bed, the young girl did meet a few kids her age but didn't feel that friendliness from them most of them were spoiled and stuck up except for that pink-haired boy, he reminded her of Seto, it wasn't long before sleep took over.
The next morning it was the start of Kiara's studies, her parents made a balanced schedule for her to learn and have some activities. One particular activity that they added is Gardening which made the young girl smile.
"Now use this small plot to plant and grow anything you want." Her father said
The blue-haired girl looked at the plot near the large trees that gave the right amount of shade for delicate plants. 'Grow anything I want? ' Kiara thought, her first choice is planting her favorite flower but then she thought it would be nice to do something else.
"What's mom favorite flower?" Kiara asked
"Orchids." He replied "She loves any color as long as it's Orchids."
"Then... I want this part with some purple orchids since they're delicate so this tree will give them a lot of shade and over here white roses!" Kiara smiled "I want mom to look at it and smile."
Kenji smiled nodding in approval of the young girl's decision.
"Alright, I can get some Orchids that would fit here." Kenji said
"But don't tell mom! I want to surprise her!" Kiara smiled.
The next few days Kiara would spend her study breaks to work on the garden, carefully handling the young plants, most of the orchids her father bought were already at full bloom she didn't mind it, it gave her ideas on which was the best place to set them up.
Catherine was in the small library leisurely reading a novel and drinking some tea. She heard soft scuffle then the door open, her daughter smiling some dirt covered her cheek and in her outdoor clothes.
"I want to show you something." Kiara said
"Show me something?" Catherine repeated, Kiara nodded taking her adopted mother's hand dragging her off the room as the young girl couldn't stop smiling.
"Dad helped me make something for us to have." Kiara said "So close your eyes and no peeking!"
"What is it?" She asked closing her eyes as the young girl held her hand.
"You'll find out!" Kiara grinned leading her mother outside to the small courtyard both walked until Kiara stopped right where the large tree is."Okay you can open your eyes!"
Catherine opened them and let out a gasp. She saw bright purple orchids in the center of the plot and around them were white roses, some bloomed others just buds about to bloom soon.
"Dad told me you like orchids so i wanted to make something for us to smile, so what better way than to have our favorite flowers together under the big tree." Kiara said "Do you like it Mom?"
Catherine covered her mouth staring at the flowers in the small plot, she didn't know what came over her that she cried. Kiara panicked.
"Mom why are you crying? What's wrong?" Kiara worriedly asked.
Catherine knelt down and hugged the young girl tightly, words couldn't express this feeling in the woman's heart she let out tears of joy.
"I'm okay, i'm happy this is a wonderful gift." She said kissing her daughter's cheek. "Why don't you get cleaned up and we skip today's lesson to enjoy some tea and cookies outside together"
"Yeah! " Kiara beamed
'Such a sweet girl…' she thought watching the young girl run back inside the house, Catherine smiled staring at the flowers . 'I'm glad to have you in my life.'
Kiara quickly freshen up and put on a simple white dress shirt and pleated blue skirt, She glanced at the fresh white carnation. The young girl knew that the maid had put the flower there, she thanked Tabatha earlier for her gesture because that flower is a reminder to her two dear friends.
'One day I'll see you.. Seto and Mokie very soon.' She thought smiling while a soft pink color formed her cheeks. 'After all, we made a promise...and i'll be waiting for that day.'
