Chapter 7

'No he wouldn't forget, it's not like him too.' Kiara pondered the event went off in complete success.

It was now Sunday afternoon, the young girl let out a sigh as she kept typing in the numbers from last night's online sales of the product launch.

'He's always a step ahead of anyone and well prepared…' Kiara thought. 'He always kept his promises to me and Mokuba back when we were at the orphanage..so I shouldn't doubt him...then again it has been six years since we saw each other.'

Mokuba held the paper of Kiara's cell phone number that she gave him during the party.

'Alright! I can do this!' The young Kaiba thought. 'Just ask her to hang out with you today, just like old times! Maybe Seto might join in later in the day too...wait...but Kiara might be mad at what he did...he didn't say goodbye to her when we left at her event..well i did but he didn't...i should apologize for him.'

Mokuba pushed down his fear and typed the number.

In the middle of Kiara's typing her phone buzzed, she glanced at a text she didn't recognize the number but read it.

Hey Kiara! It's Mokuba! Are you busy? You wanna have lunch with me? There's a pizza place i want to go too but Big brother is too busy.

Kiara smiled she was already finished with her work, knowing that her father will be fine with the final details.

'Hi, Mokuba. Sure where's the place at? I'll meet you there.'

Half an hour later the two met up at a pizza place called Little Italy. A small quant pizza place that's popular with the young highschool crowd. Kiara manage to find some seats for them, they've already ordered pizza to share so now it's the waiting game.

"So how's school treating you?" Kiara asked

"It's going good!" Mokuba said "What about you?"

"Pretty much the same." Kiara said "How's Seto doing?"

"He's okay." Mokuba said "Sorry about what happened on your event, that he didn't say goodbye."

"O..oh, it's fine." Kiara reassured the boy. "I understand that when he's at different events he can be a bit...brass at times."

"Still he should have said goodbye." Mokuba muttered. "I know he should be the one to apologize."

"Is that why you invited me out?" Kiara asked

Mokuba immediately got flustered, scratching the back of his head. The waitress returned with the Pizza, both took a slice eating in silence. The young Kaiba occasionally glanced at Kiara.

"Are you busy today?" He asked

"I'm free right now." Kiara said checking her phone for any updates so far her schedule is free at the moment. "Why? You need to go someplace?"

"Can we go to the arcade?" Mokuba asked "If i go back home i'll just be bored watching the sunday news."

"Yeah, let's go." Kiara said

After lunch they went to an arcade near a giant shopping center. Once inside they saw all types of games, Mokuba's eyes shined brightly running towards one of the fighting games while Kiara looked around at the variety of games to pick which one to start.

Kaiba typed in his computer reading over the reports in the comfort of his home. He glanced at his watch seeing that it's almost three o clock. Strange..his younger brother would be here by now to watch the news with him. Thinking the worst he picked up his cell calling his brother.

'Hi big brother.' Mokuba said picking up the call.

"Where are you? It's almost three." Kaiba said

'I'm at the arcade with Kiara!' Mokuba said

Kaiba could hear the cheerfulness in his voice, and the background noise of a random fighting game. Kiara...he felt that warmth in his chest.

'Why don't you meet us here?' Mokuba asked 'You promised me that you would work until four today! You need to take a break! Just meet us at the arcade i promise we'll have fun!'

Knowing that his younger brother is stubborn about certain things especially when it comes to rest and relaxation by doing menial tasks. He did promise his younger brother to work less on sundays and spend more quality time with him.

"Fine..i'll meet you there." Kaiba said letting out a sigh.

'Also i let Roland take the rest of the day off so..looks like you'll be driving!' Mokuba grinned hearing his older brother let out another sigh. A plan started forming the young kaiba's head, secretly hoping that it will turn out well.

Kiara's eyes sparkled at looking in the crane games.

"All those cute plushies!"Kiara said "I want one!"

"Getting one will take skill to win." Mokuba said his eyes glued to the fighting game. "Big brother knows the trick in getting one."

"Really? Maybe i'll find the trick to it too! Now i'm pump! I'll give it a try!" Kiara declared.

Kaiba closed the door of the car pressing the button activating the alarm, he briefly walked out the parking lot to the arcade, his head throbbed, a series of emotions traveling rapidly through his mind at seeing Kiara again, He felt confusion, nervousness and excitement at the same time and that scared him. After a few minutes of Kaiba entering the arcade searching for his younger brother and the blue-haired girl.

Then he saw her at one of those crane games struggling to get one of those colorful plush toys.

The claw of the machine clipped at a white rabbit plush toy, seconds later it fell off the claw. "Argh! I almost had it!" Kiata pouted her hand pressed on the glass staring at the rabbit.

'That rabbit reminds me of the one i had in the orphanage…' Kiara thought staring at it.

"Okay! One more time!" Kiara declared inserting a few coins in the machine. "I want that cute white bunny!"

Kaiba silently stared at the girl struggling at the game trying to get that rabbit. Sadly it was another failed attempt. Kiara let out a frustrated growl and admitted defeat.

"I really wanted it…" she said softly. "It looks so much like the one i used to have...until that bully broke it...then.." Kiara stopped herself moving away from the crane game letting the other kids have their turn, she watched them smiling sadly. Kaiba crossed his arms remembering that memory that he disliked...of her crying.

Flashback…

'Just give me that toy!' An older boy said gripping half of the plush rabbit, a young Kiara held the other half.

'I said no Ash!' Kiara struggled 'This is mine! No means no!'

'I want to play with it!' He growled.

'You'll get it dirty!' Kiara shouted 'It's mine! Let go before you break it!'

The children continued tugging at the toy, the poor rabbit broke apart ripping at the seams stuffing puffed up, knocking the two children on impact.

Kiara gasped in shock holding the half of the toy stuffing falling out, the boy looked at the other half and tossed it at Kiara's face.

'I don't want it anymore.' Ash snickered. 'Have fun playing it.'

Kiara bit her lip as tears formed her eyes holding the ripped plush.

'Aw, the baby crying cause her toy broke?' Ash mocked.

Kiara couldn't hold it in as she cried loudly, hearing Ash's taunting her even more, it was then that young Seto came in looking at Kiara then glared at the bully.

'What did i tell you about making girls cry?! ' Seto said tackling Ash. 'I warned you and you're friends not to make her cry!'

Soon after that Ash went off running and crying. Kiara hiccuped cradling her broken toy, she looked up at Seto who had a few scratches from the scuffle he had with the bully, he knelt down placing his hands on her shoulders. 'I'm sorry, Kiara.' He said apologetically.

'It was..the only thing i had from my mommy…' Kiara sniffled. 'Before she was taken away…' More tears ran down her cheeks. 'It was the only thing that helped me sleep when i was scared at night.'

'Taken away?' Seto repeated.

'She said she had to go because she did something bad.' Kiara explained 'I don't have any relatives so that's why I'm here too.'

'Don't cry Kiara, we can try to get it fixed alright? 'Seto said trying to give the girl some type of comfort, he glared at the ground. 'I won't let anyone make you cry.'

End of flashback….

Kiara snapped out of her thoughts seeing the claw grip the white rabbit plush that she had tried to get, several times. The claw moved without the toy slipping into the slot for the new owner to take home and that is...Seto Kaiba.

Kaiba held out the toy to her, Kiara's cheeks blushed a little, then smiled holding out her hands accepting the rabbit. His eyes narrowed as he watched her smile, hugging the toy caressing it with her cheek feeling the softness that made him feel happy although he never showed it, all these emotions felt odd yet it didn't bother him when it's about her.

"Thanks." Kiara said softly.

"That game is too easy for me." Kaiba simply said.

"Think you can beat my high score at pac-man?" Kiara playfully smiled.

"Challenge accepted." Kaiba said

Mokuba silently watched the two teenagers from a distance, grinning from ear to ear. ' My plan worked! I got them alone together and she's smiling! That has to be a sign that She likes Seto! ' Mokuba thought watching the two interact with each other at the pac-man game.

Kiara stared at the focused Kaiba, seeing him maneuvering and easily dodging the ghosts at each passing level for the last hour and a half. Kaiba had beat her high score adding his initials on the screen and he had an irritatingly smug smile on his face.

"Don't smile just yet!" Kiara teased. "We still have other games to play!"

A faint magical girl tune echoed it was Kiara's cellphone ringing it.

"Excuse me for a minute." She said, turning her head as she answered her phone.

"It's Kiara." She said

'My lady, i'm sorry to interrupt you, but your mother wants you to come home.' Tabatha said 'She said that she'll be waiting with Jade the seamstress for you to try on a dress.'

"Okay, no problem i'll be there." Kiara replied.

After she hung up, She faced the Brothers with an apologetic smile.

"I have to go home now." Kiara said

"No problem! Seto drove here so we'll give you a lift home!" Mokuba spoke up.

Kiara agreed since it's faster that way than waiting around, they reached the parking lot seeing a gray Lexus Ls 500 parked in private parking , Kaiba held the keys as the car flashed signaling that the alarm was off and unlocked, Mokuba went to the back seat.

She looked up to see Kaiba was already holding a door open for her in the front seat, the blue-haired girl couldn't help feeling her cheeks go warm, sure she's used to her chauffeur holding the door for her, but this is Seto Kaiba it felt very different, this was very different from how he acted at the event. She got in and put on her seat belt waiting for Kaiba to go in.

The car ride wasn't so bad, she had to admit that Seto is an exceptional driver. Mokuba talked thanking Kiara for a fun time and hopes to do it again with the three of them. She nodded while hugging the rabbit toy.

They made their stop at the girls house, Kiara unbuckled her seatbelt smiling at the Kaiba brothers.

"It was so much fun today." Kiara said softly. "Feel free to call or text me..when I'm not busy that is." She stepped out of the car, turning slightly waving goodbye at them. Mokuba went to the front seat smiling happily.

"See it wasn't so bad?" Mokuba said

"It wasn't." Seto admitted, Kaiba though barely unnoticeable, gave a small smile.
