"Welcome back readers! Its been a while hasn't it. We have yet another chapter of HOTT for you on this fine…" Slim took a moment to look out a nearby window. "Hey R.O.W. What time is it? I have not seen a sun for a long time."

"How should I know, there is no day or night cycles nor sense of time where we are." R.O.W. said while opening the curtains to a window, revealing nothing but pure black.

"Anyways, let's get to what the readers came here for! The guest Reviews!"

OnePunchPlayer (answered by Slim A Lou): Hehehe yeah, funny thing is it only dawned on me while I was writing the chapter. The only non-Exo character in the additions is Shaxx LoL.

Guest (answered by R.O.W.): Hope the next one doesn't take months and this is disappointing. I feel fucking cheated with this chap.

"Well you need to realize that everyone has a life outside of fanfiction. Also everyone is entitled to their own opinion."

Somerandomperson (answered by Slim A Lou): "They call me the Great Blue Baller for a reason you know hehehehe."

Don't worry about it, I most certainly don't.

"And that's that, now onto the story!"

Today was an interesting day to say the least. Even after landing here in the past I planned on just the three of us to help uplift humanity. As it would turn out I was wrong. When Shaxx arrived I thought that would be "the news" of today, but not a few hours after he arrived Saint-14 arrived at our border. A few more hours later the once dead hunter vanguard Cayde-6 arrived on his sparrow while eating a bowl of ramen.

We gathered in the operations room to discuss the future plans we had in mind now that we were joined by three more guardians. Among these discussions was the subject of leadership. Lord Shaxx would take charge of training the to-be guardians and oversee the base. Osiris would once again take up the title of Warlock Vanguard and head of Vanguard itself. Saint-14 would also take the title of Titan Vanguard once more. And Cayde-6…

"No way." Cayde-6 declared pushing himself away from the table. "I am not doing Vanguard Hunter again, let Orion do it."

"Cayde you are still Hunter Vanguard." Osiris countered. "Simply going back in time does not change that."

"Besides, Orion has no experience in running being the Vanguard Hunter." I added trying my best to hide the smile arising from Cayde-6's misery. "You are the best choice, think of the children."

"Don't you start with that." Cayde-6 quickly countered pointing a finger at me.

I chuckled lightly to myself. Back in the Last City children would often dogpile titans passing by in an attempt to pull them to the ground. However, titans being titans they were easily able to hold themselves upright. However, a group of children once tried the same thinking with a hunter. This hunter happened to be Cayde. Reportedly the EXO screamed like a girl at the sudden appearance of thirty plus kids and despite trying to run was quickly caught and dogpiled. Even worse for the hunter, someone had recorded the whole thing.

"There is no escaping this Cayde." Lord Shaxx ordered. "Now is not the time to vent your feelings on your job. You have a duty to uphold."

Cayde rolled his optics and let out a defeated sigh. He would have drawn out the conversation more but in the end, he knew that there was no getting out of this.

"I don't have to stay here all the time do I?" Cayde asked hopefully.

"As long as a guardian is here then I don't mind." Osiris answered before addressing all of us. "Frankly Zavala's way of running the Vanguard is too defensive for me. Besides we no longer have one city to look after, and we still require more recruits. Onyx, Saint, we require more people with signs of becoming titans, young Olivia is our only potential titan recruit at the moment. Same with you Orion, Cayde, Sevro alone will not be enough."

"I can sniff out some hunters no problem." Orion commented.

"Beats sitting around here, fresh batch of hunters coming up!" Cayde added.

The two hunters quickly made their way out of the operations room. The sound of sparrows speeding off soon followed. Not long after Metis entered the room.

"Greetings, I bring news."

"Report." Osiris ordered.

"I have managed to contact Prometheus, and he is interested in meeting you all. He is willing to meet with you in Seattle, Centennial Park to be specific. He will arrive there in two days time."

"Saint and I can handle this." I announced.

"Very well, Saint, Onyx I will leave this to you." Osiris finished.

With that sorted out Saint and I made tacks for the outside. Once outside we both summoned our sparrows and took off towards Washington State at max burn. As we were traveling at speeds around 310 mph on our sparrows at max speed, it was going to take us around four hours to reach Seattle. Though we added a few hours as we made stops to take in the sights. Seeing as we had two days before the guy even showed up there was nothing wrong with stopping every now and then.

At some point along our journey, I struck up a conversation with Saint.

"Tell me Saint, how are things back home?" I asked, curious about the things happening back home.

Saint looked at me for a moment. With his helmet on I could not get a one hundred percent read on him, but over the centuries of staring at each other with our helmets on most guardians got really good at reading body language. Right now, he was not giving me good signs.

"Tell me Sl-Onyx. What was it like when you uh… left?" He asked in return.

"Well, we were in the New Golden Age. The Traveler woke up, and much of the Cabal had been driven back. There was also this giant worm looking ship that this Cabal Emperor had, I only went in there myself once to fight off some Red Legion guy and his ships."

Saint hummed for a moment. "It would seem that you and I are from different timelines brother."

It was my turn to give him a look. I knew that Osiris and his sundial invention was capable of seeing guardians to alternate timelines, but said guardians never stayed there long. They would pop in to kill something, and by extent stopping something from happening, then pop out. I also learned that the Hive Bane used the sundial to go back in time to change some events to save Saint. He remembered Saint going on and on about how this Guardian was the Traveler's chosen and how he would save us all. Even when Saint found out how the Hive Baine saved him it never stopped Saint from calling him the Traveler's chosen.

"In my timeline, we were betrayed by the one who saved me, saved us all. The Last City is lost to us and most of mankind is now on the run. We now hold small outposts wherever we can find them but with the arrival of the Darkness things have only gotten worse. Some of the Guardians have started to wield the Darkness and from that some have completely given themselves over to it. We are in The Second Dark Age."

"What's this guy's name?" I asked somewhat tensely.

"He goes by many names now, but before that he was once called Marquee."

I did not know any Marquee's from my timeline, and I was sure that the Hive Bane's name was not Marquee. I suppose a different timeline meant a different Hive Bane.

"Let me guess, he came through the portal with you?" I reasoned knowing our luck could not be this good.

Saint nodded soberingly. "I was in the middle of a fight with him when we both were thrown back in time. He has since become stronger as he has learned to wield the powers of the Taken King."

That got my eye wide. "And you did not bring this up with the others why?!"

Saint looked away. "I admit I wanted to hunt him down and kill him without causing a ruckus. I reasoned that since Oryx is alive again that his powers would be weakened if not cut off. While I am thankful that he saved me, I am still more experienced than him. I will make him pay for betraying humanity."

"How is it even possible to wield the Taken power? No guardian has ever shown the ability to wield the powers the Taken King could. Now that we are back in time now, I do not want to deal with two Taken Kings."

"I do not know, there are a few theories, but they do not matter. What matters now is finding and finishing him before he gains more power. Once this is done, I would like your help in ending his threat brother."

"You will have it, but the others need to know too. Our Hive Bane is no pushover, even with his inexperience compared to ours. I can assume he is similar in this regard."

Saint nodded. "He is a powerful guardian, a titan like you and I. Along with the Taken abilities he wields another form of Darkness, the same I mentioned from before. We call it Stasis, the best way I can describe it is the opposite of Solar. He can freeze the very soul of anyone hit by it. He has felled many guardians with it."

At the mere mention of this Darkness Subclass, I could feel the Solar light in my body react with rage. As I was raised as a SunBreaker I felt more alone with my solar energy, simply I would default to it more times than not as well as having more of an affinity for solar based weapons. To hear this subclass made me feel like I was being challenged personally. With the Traveler as my witness I would see this Stasis wielding guardian break under my boot.

"Your Sol light shines brighter brother." Saint noted approvingly. "If there is anyone I know who can shatter his ice it is your light."

I smiled at the complement. Even a different version of Saint was still Saint in the end, always ready to boost the spirits of his allies in a moment's notice. Though that did get me thinking.

"Hey Saint, what's your version of me like."

"Hmm, much like you are now. You were one of the Guardians leading the counter attack against the Despoilers."

"Despoilers?" I asked never hearing the name before.

"The name we gave to the Darkness aligned guardians who turned against us. They were no longer fitting of the word Guardian, so we gave them a name that meant the opposite." Saint explained. "You brought five Despoilers their final death, before retreating back to support the withdrawal of the civilians from the Last City."

"Well glad to know there are five lest "Despoilers" from your timeline. Once we are done with this Prometheus guy, let's find this despoiler and show him to his final death!"

"I could not agree more brother!" Saint declared.

We both put more power into our Sparrows taking off across the desert, kicking up a dust storm as we passed.

Ares was riding on his bike down some mortal highway that he could not be bothered to remember. He and Aphrodite's date was cut short by their discovery that Hephaestus had set another trap for them. In their scramble to avoid the trap he had forgotten to grab his shield and given how he did not relish the idea of getting caught again by Hephaestus' trap he had no choice but to wait for some demigod to come along and get it for him. Sure, he was still able to fuck Aphrodite stupid again but he still wanted his damned shield back, and Aphrodite wanted her scarf back too.

There was also the "small" fact that his father had almost lost interest in going to war because of his missing weapon. Sure he still wanted the thing back but he was more concerned with finding these three God Slayers. Ares was very excited at the thought of a war breaking out as it had been far too long since the mortals had a good war and he was not thinking of those small wars in the East, he was thinking of the world wars. Now those were good memories, millions fighting each other in glorious combat throwing everything that had at each other. It brought a tear to his eye just thinking about the glory.

Now it was all these small fights that followed a boring pattern. Some terrorists would blow something up, kill some nobodies and a few more soldiers would be shipped out to help bring order to the middle east. It made Ares sick just thinking about how soft the wars had become. Everyone was so afraid of losing soldiers that a few deaths could have stopped a whole front. What happened to these dumb mortals, when had they become so afraid of a little death? If he were in charge he would have had the whole world under one banner by now.

The god of war was brought out of his thoughts when he detected a powerful energy suddenly surge forth. Ares quickly pulled off to the side of the road to try and narrow down the direction this strange power was coming from. After a few moments of concentration, he was able to get a rough estimate on where this power originated from.

A smile creeped into his face.

He knew hunting down monsters was Artemis' thing but even he killed a few monsters from time to time, especially when wanting to vent some anger. Whatever was giving off this energy was powerful, maybe it would even provide him some level of fun. Revving his bike's engine to life he took off towards the direction of the power. It took him around an hour or so to truly get closer to the power he was sensing. It was well off the beaten path and there were a few forests and mountains in his way, but no spot of greenery or mound of dirt was going to stop him.

After another thirty minutes the god of war came to an open area with a somewhat large house in the distance. His godly eyes allowed him to spot a type of boot camp looking area near the house, complete with a shooting range, obstacle course, and dueling circle just to name a few. Though that was not the only thing he saw. There were people using the shooting range even from where he stood, he could hear the crack of mortal gun fire. There was one thing he noted and that was the figure standing in the center of a broken circle of people, some of them kids, some of them teens, and the rest adults.

The statue of the figure in the middle made it clear that it was a male, even in the full set of white striped body armor. He carried himself like a battle hardened warrior as his posture alone screamed warrior. Even when he made arm gestures, they were short, strong, and close to his body ready for an incoming attack. The man was a giant compared to the rest of the mortals around him. If Ares were to put forth a guess, he would guess near seven feet tall give or take.

Even more intriguing was that he was the source of the power Ares had felt not long ago. Now that he was closer there was no doubt in Ares' mind that this man was the source of the power he felt. It was only confirmed when the figures left hand ignited on its own. In that moment Ares could feet the power coming from the man was but a small portion of what he could draw on.

An overwhelming sense of blood lust overcame the god. He had to fight this man and test his metal. If he was a woman he would sure be on his way over to put a demigod in that bitch. Although the thought crossed his mind to turn him into a woman, he quickly shot the idea down. He was many things, but he was not gay. Even if he did turn the man into a woman, he was still a man at one point. Ares would never even entertain the idea of switching his form to that of a woman's. He liked where his dick where it was, and it was not moving from its place.

So, he settled with going over there and beating the crap out of him. He'd go easy on him first to gauge just how much of his godly side the mortal could take. Even with this power coming from him there was no way a mortal could ever beat a god if they went all out. With his mind made up Ares revved his engine again and speeded towards the house. As he got close the sound of his bike's engine drew the attention of the mortals using the boot camp facilities, though he noted that the man took notice of Ares' approach far before the others did. The man quickly ordered those around him away before he began walking towards Ares.

The god of war felt the man draw more on this unknown power. It was more than he had with his little demonstration. Of course, Ares was not put off by it in the slightest if anything it only made him more excited for what lay ahead.

Ares' bike came to a stop some forty feet away from the armored man. Ares dismounted his bike kicking out the stand as he did. The two sized each other up, each of them making their own threat assessment in their heads. The armored man was the first to speak up.

"This is private property, leave at once." He ordered sternly.

Ares felt a ping of annoyance race up in him. This mortal dare order him around?! Just for that he would raise his starting level of power he was going to use on him.

"How about we dispense with the bull shit and get to the part where we fight." Ares proposed arrogantly. "We both know that we are not like those mortals watching from the house."

"This is your last warning. Leave now." He ordered again his tone completely the same.

Rolling his eyes Ares acted. In a flash of motion he had closed the distance and thrusted forward his spear he had conjured on the way over. However, the god would find his spear coming to a sudden halt as if hit had gotten stuck in something. Ares' eyes widened slightly when he saw the mortal had grabbed his spear and was now holding his spear in place with one arm. The armed man brought his other arm down on Ares' spear shattering it on his vambrace.

In one quick motion the man had spun the spear head in his hand and began to make quick thrust attacks with the improvised dagger. Ares wound himself hard pressed to doge the attacks as they came at him lightning fast. Just as he dodged another swipe of the spear head, he found something hitting his stomach sending him flying back.

The god steadied himself mid air allowing him to land on his feet though the force behind the impact sent him sitting back a few feet once his feet touched the ground. He found himself glaring at the armored man. In but a few seconds he had broken one of his favorite spears and forced him back. Clearly this mortal was far stronger than his senses were telling him. Clearly now was not the time to be holding back.

Another spear appeared in the god's hands along with a sturdy looking shield in his other. At the same time the armored man discarded the spear head and ready himself for the god's counterattack. Ares took notice that the man did not draw the large pistol on his hip. He did not even take a fighting stance choosing to stand tall with his fists on his waist.

Ares' bared his teeth, this mortal dare understatement him. He would make sure this mortal would suffer. The spear he had now was not like the one that had just shattered, this one had abilities. The spear began to shine as electricity danced over it. A moment later Ares sent the gathered electricity flying at the mortal. While the power behind the attack was nothing like his father's bolt, the spear was still capable of shooting out bolts of lightning that could fry a mortal on contact.

The armored man made no move to doge the attack, instead allowing the bolt to strike him head center. As the electricity surged through his body the man made not a move, nor did he even flinch when the bolt stuck him. When the electricity faded Ares found the man undamaged by the attack.

"I've been hit with Shock Daggers with more spark than that." He declared unimpressed by Ares' attack.

The god's vision was beginning to turn red. This mortal dare mock him, dare fight him with nothing but his fist! He would show him, he would show him just how much weaker he was then him. Once again, the war god charged at the mortal. Once again, the mortal made no move to prepare for his attack.

Just as the two were about to meet once more, Ares let out a defining roar that pushed the armored metal back yet he still stood tall. The god threw his shield into the mortal's from with great force. Again, the mortal was sent skidding backwards, this time he was not standing so tall. The mortal had crouched down slightly to keep himself standing, but he definitely felt the impact.

Ares continued his assault, throwing attack after attack. The mortal managed to dodge most of them but the few that stuck the mortal's armor were stopped by some form of invisible shield. Whenever the mortal went untouched for some time he would slightly glow leading Ares to believe that this shield had recharged.

'Damn this mortal!' Ares raged in his head as he renewed his attack ones more. 'He's toying with me!'

Despite how Ares acted around his fellow gods he was no fool. When it came to all things war and combat he was a genius, a genius who would rather use his head to smash through a wall rather than use his head to get around it. He knew this mortal was gauging his power, it was evident from how defensive he had been since Ares attacked him the second time. If anything, this man was trying to get Ares to use all of his tricks before he fought back himself. He knew defensive fighters when he saw them, those who fight because they have something to protect.

It sickened the god of war.

Wars were all about destroying your enemy, the same could be said for fights. There may be objectives to take or minds to win but that was all a cover up for the real goal. It was all about killing more of the enemy then they did of you. That's how all wars go. One army would kill the others until the other lost too many and waved the little white flag.

'If he wants to play games then I can play games!' Ares growled to himself as he began to call on his divine powers.

However, as soon as Ares began to draw heavily on his divine, the mortal switched from his defensive tactics to aggressive. In one blur of motion the mortal dodged under his shield and delivered two powerful punches to Ares' torso. Thought that was not what caused the god to fall back. When the mortal had struck Ares he felt a power wash over him the likes he had never felt before. It was almost like Chaos itself had reached out to touch him.

Ares narrowed his eyes at the… creature before him. He had to kill it by any means necessary. Divine power began to surge through the god of war, power that the mortal took notice of as his head raised slightly. The mortal quickly turned and ordered those watching to look away before turning back to the god and taking a combative stance. Somehow this mortal knew that mortals could not look at a gods' true form and live, yet here he was looking at Ares as his true form started to manifest.

A blinding light soon manifested around Ares as his body began to change. His biker clothes had changed into greek styled armor with a long red cape. The god's shield had increased in size becoming large enough to protect his entire body, his spear also increased in size becoming a long spear. Two eye reds appeared within the spartan helm. His large bronze pauldrons gleamed in the sun, and his muscles crew in size and prominence. His size also crewed to a height of eight foot nine, now dwarfing the armored mortal in size.

Despite Ares being in his true form the mortal before him did not die despite looking right at him. Such a thing was impossible, not even demigods could look at a god's true form. He supposed it didn't matter given how he would be dead soon.

With a roar Ares charged at the mortal closing the distance between them in seconds. Once more he thrusted his spear with lightning speed. Much to his annoyance the creature dodged his attack and threw a punch at him which he blocked with his shield. However, Ares found a fist shaped indent in the other side of his shield.

'Just how strong is this bastard?!' Ares raged in his head. The shield he was using was not any shield, it was HIS shield as in the one that he only used when fighting in his divine form. Yet this creature managed to put a dent in it. Bear handed no less!

Before the creature could pull out his fist Ares shoved his spear into the creature's side. Ares' spear pierced the invisible shield and punched into the creature's armpit. He growled and red blood slipped out from his wound. Despite his wound he managed to shove Ares back forcing the spear out of his body in the process. However, Ares was already back in his face launching attacks with his spear and bashing him with his shield.

Yet despite all of the wounds and blows the creature took he would not relent. He stood on his feet taking every hit. Even with Ares at his full power he could not bring this creature down. Ares might have been impressed if he had not committed himself to destroying this creature in human skin.

Just as Ares launched another assault of blow, he found his shield and spear had become stuck. Before Ares could react, his shield and spear were shoved aside followed by a headbutt from the creature, dazing the god for a moment. Though it was more than enough time for the creature to land two heavy punches to Ares' head before Ares felt the creature use that strange power again.

A purple shield formed in his hand, the likes he had never seen before. The shield itself was of standard make just being a simple large round shield, however it held a power just like the one that the creature hit him with before. There was also the fact that he could not identify the shield just from looking at it. He and Athena both shared this ability, they both knew any weapon just by looking at it. Even if the shield was counted under weapons he could still tell. How was it he could not understand what this shield was?

Before Ares could even react the creature threw his shield into Ares with an unnatural force, almost as if reality itself was moving the shield forward. The shield slammed into Ares, causing the god to double forward as he felt his very existence shudder. A punch infused with the same energy followed, causing the god to be stunned one more. Each time Ares was struck he felt as if his very being was falling apart, like his body was cast into an infinite void where it was being deconstructed from simply being in it.

The creature performed a sweeping maneuver knocking Ares off his legs and onto his back. The god felt his being begin to fall apart at a rapid pace. He had a feeling he could not take another significant hit again less his being faded from existence. With one final push of his power Ares resummoned his spear so that it would face the creature. The god of war grabbed the spear and thrusted it into the center of the creature's chest plate. The spear pierced the creature's armor punching through to the other side. In the next moment Ares appeared to the creature's side and grabbed onto the shaft of his spear just below its head and pulled the weapon through. He then mustered a kick to the creature's side sending him flying into the building in the distances.

He crashed into the building kicking up dust and chucks of building material. However, the god of war felt his being falling apart. He could not maintain his form any longer, forcing the god to teleport himself away from the area. In the next moment he found himself in an alleyway in some mortal city. Ares collapsed under his own height as his body returned to his normal state. Seconds later his body crumpled into golden dust.

"And were all pow!: Slim Prime calls from the second level of the archives. "You know I had to rewrite that fight a few times to get it to a point where I felt that Shaxx did not seem like he was stomping Ares. Its just when you put Shaxx into a fight its hard not to see him not kick as without giving an inch to the enemy. You know… because… its Shaxx."

"That and it wouldn't be as entertaining if all the fights were one-sided."

"Yeah, that's why Rogue doesn't write fights here." Slim adds jokingly. "Anways I will be seeing you guys next time in Lords of War. SEE YOU THEN!"

God bless and oh God who left all this smut in my room!
