Chapter Eleven
For a moment neither moved, then Lucius closed his book as he stood. His eyes never left Hermione's as he place the book on a table near the chair. When both his hands were free he slowly made his way toward the young woman. Hoping that he wouldn't scare her away. When he was a couple feet from her he stopped and gave her a kind smile.
"I did not believe I would see you again so soon after our last meeting here. Though I am glad that I did." Lucius kept his voice light and pleasant.
Hermione swallowed giving herself a second to gather her thoughts. "Why are you glad to see me?"
It was now Lucius' turn to swallow. "I wish for us to become better acquainted."
Hermione frowned slightly. 'Severus told me that Lucius is not the same as he was. Though that does not explain why he would want us to be better acquainted.' "But why would you wish that? What could you get from knowing me better?"
'She always was full of questions. If Draco and Severus are to be believed. Though her questions are valid. I knew this would not be easy.' "I do not know what I could gain from knowing you better Miss Granger. Except that I would be able to converse with an intelligent, beautiful young woman. Perhaps even more than converse. Quite possibly, if you were to give me a chance, we could form a friendship. Which I very much hope for."
