~Draco's POV~

It has been three days since I visited Christine. Hogwarts was a disaster this past few days and we weren't allowed outside after that oaf was taken away by my father. In my opinion I think it was safer outside than inside of a castle, I mean we had a monster on the loose and now it even attacked a pureblood.

As I was getting closer to the Hospital wing I was able to hear several voices arguing. I burst into the room and everyone turned towards me. Inside stood Dumbledore along with Snape and Madam Pomfrey. Aside from them there were few new occupied beds.

"Mr. Malfoy!" Madam Pomfrey squealed. "You can't be here now!" She said and proceeded to push me outside.

"You can't do that!" I started resisting " I came to see my friend, and why throw me out and not them!" I added once I noticed Potter and Weasley standing in between Granger and some red head girl. Probably another Weasley.

"Leave him Poppy!" Dumbledore waved me to come closer, and Madam Pomfrey let me go.

I fixed my crooked robes before approaching. When Christine's face come in my line of sight I froze in my track. Two tick red lines were smudged into her face. It looked like dried blood.

"What happed to her?" I asked still looking at her, but didn't received an answer except slight head shake from Snape.

I was waiting for someone to say something because I missed out half of the conversation.

"The only thing we could do now is to wait for potion to be finished and then we can see what happened." Dumbledore dragged out the sentence and with that he finished the previous quarrel. I could see that Snape wanted to say something but he stopped himself since Potter and Weasley were still here.

It was now end of May and the potion was finished. Kids were waking up one by one, as if nothing has happened. No one seemed to remember anything after being petrified and they seemed just fine. But Christine was still unconscious.

I was by Christin's bed, as usual reading a book to her, when I noticed that her body stared to slowly relax. It took a couple of minutes for her to relax completely and for her body to lie normally on the bed. I stopped reading to take a better look at her.

"Why... did you stop." Quiet and husky voice said. "I wanna hear how it ends!" Now much louder.

I jumped from my chair hugging her tightly.

"Your crushing me!" She said under me, and patted me on the head messing up my hair. God how I hate when she do that, but now it was not the time for me to complain.

After I let her go she smiled widely. "You look way better like this!" I grabbed my hair. It was like a bloody nest. "Shame that I can see it right now!" A grin spread on her face.

I gently hit her on the shoulder, thinking how she just made fun of me. "I'm not joking. I seriously can't see you!" She said slowly lifting herself in sitting position.

"What do you mean?!" I looked at her with disbelief.

"I mean that everything is blurry and I can just make out silhouettes!" Only after saying this I have realized that she wasn't really looking at me but somehow through me.

"Why?!" My mouth were left half open.

"I will explain everything to you, but could you first please get my father and professor Dumbledore so I can tell them what happened?" Christine pleaded and I just couldn't say no, she was way too calm. She behaved as if nothing has happened, which only made me think for how long she was in this condition to the point that she isn't fazed by the fact that she was blind. Since she didn't gave me too much choice I just nodded and quickly went to look for them.

~Christine's POV~

A week after basilisk death the potion from Mandrake's root was finished and it was given to us. I was one of the last one to wake up. The feeling of release after being petrified was unusual. For good hour I wasn't able to lift my hands and after I started moving I couldn't stand up properly. I felt so stiff to the point I had to fight the urge to crack every bone in my body. One thing that reminded the same, was my sigh. I still couldn't see. My vision wasn't exactly black but it was blurry and I still could make out silhouettes, which made me hopeful that my condition will get better in time and proper treatment.

Kids started waking up and moving immediately after drinking the potion, but for me it was much longer process. When the potion started working Draco was there. He was reading me one of my books about forbidden love between a wizard and a muggle. I would have never guess that he of all people would read something like that but he had probably invaded my room looking for something that I like.

After our little chat I told him to get my father and professor Dumbledore here so I could tell them all what happened. And so I did. Every little detail from how I went with Hermione to look for the answer to the night when basilisk visited me.

They didn't accept my story quite well. My father for who I know to be calm and collected started pacing around the room, picking his own brain out loud truing to think of a potion that could help me since healing spell did not work. And Dumbledore. I think that this was the first time since I know him that he was at loos for words. Draco on the other hand was angry. It was funny how he decided that Potter was the one to blame, not basilisk or heir of Slytherin, but Potter.

I had told him how if it weren't for Potter who know what would have happened to Hogwarts, to us. Yes I hate him but this time he truly was a hero. Maybe it's in his blood.

Soon after this school year was over and everyone went home. I too with my dad went home at Spinner's End. My vision didn't improve much so I had to get used to using my other senses. It was hard, I would constantly bump at furniture and I had so many cuts and bruises, but that didn't stop me I was still practicing my magic and broom ridding even though I would occasionally hit the wall of some building and sometimes if I'm to low I would end up tangled in the branches of some tree.

My dad was practically locked up in his room where he makes his potions searching for a cure for my eyes. He would at daily basis made me drink his experimental potions, and sometimes they would make my vision less blurry but it never lasted more then ten to fifteen seconds.

Because I wanted to be of some use at night I would try to find a spell that would work for my eyes. Obviously I couldn't read so I asked Draco to help me. He would secretly come to my house and he would read what I couldn't, and I would be the one casting spells. Because of his late night visits I would have only few hours of sleep and various spells irritating my eyes I was red and puffy every morning.

A lot of time had past and my eyes were nowhere near cured so I just decided to give up and focus my attention towards something that could help me function normally. So with Draco's help I managed to create the spell that helped me navigate my surroundings better. Hermione was also of great help. She would send me letters at daily basis. The letters were always full of different spells on which she always demanded a feedback. Thankfully we were always using my owl so she never found out where I live.

One time when we meet at Diagon Alley she even forced me to go to a muggle doctor for eyes Ophthalo something. The name was way to weird for me to remember. But we couldn't do anything, you would think that man that looked old as Dumbledore would know something about my case but except the fact that he terrified me with his muggle things for treating people that had loud metallic sound and his shaky hands that were way to close to my eyes trying to put something to force my eyes to stay open to the point that even with my blurry sight I was able to see how much he wasn't in control of his own movements.

Even though I received so much help from my best friends we still couldn't do anything so with me still being almost completely blind my third year in Hogwarts started.
