Chapter Twenty
"Thank you, Caspian." Hermione untied the scroll from the owl's leg and gave him a treat. Caspian gave a soft hoot, took the treat, and flew to his perch to enjoy it.
Hermione's heart was suddenly pounding, and her hands were slightly shaking. "Come on, Hermione. Get a grip." She muttered to herself as she broke the seal on the scroll. She took a deep breath and unrolled it.
"Hermione,
"I must say I was surprised to receive your letter. I was not expecting to hear from you so soon after we last saw one another. Though, that is not to say that the letter was unwelcome. Quite the opposite in fact.
"To answer your question, I am enjoying the stories you recommended. They are very well written and the mysteries in them are very intriguing. I believe I will have to find more of this author's works.
"I am greatly joyed that you are enjoying the books I suggested. It is nice to try new things on occasion. I am unsure as to when the next book in the series shall be published. Though, I am certain that there is a hint in the fourth book about what fairy tale the fifth will be a retelling of. Now, knowing what little about you I do, I will hazard a guess that you intend to stay up the rest of the night reading and finding the hint. While the image of you avidly reading brings a smile to my face, I must recommend that you do not do that. Try to sleep and begin reading again tomorrow. I would hate to be the catalyst of you becoming ill, because you decided to read rather than sleep.
-Lucius"
Hermione huffed. "How am I supposed to sleep after reading that?" She looked at the words Lucius had written and then looked at the clock. It was after two. 'I guess I should at least try to sleep. And if I can't sleep, I'll be able to be honestly say I tried, if Lucius asks.'
