Chapter Twenty-Three
Before Hermione could respond two people walked into the kitchen. "Who's done what to Hermione?"
Harry and Hermione looked up at the sound of Ron's voice.
"Nobody has done anything to me." Hermione replied with a huff.
"That's a rather vehement reply for such a simple question." Ginny commented as she sat down next to Harry. "But what are we talking about anyway?"
"We're not talking about anything."
"Hermione's listening to a certain someone telling her to stop reading and actually sleep."
Harry and Hermione spoke at the same time. Harry sounded amused, while Hermione was a bit panicked. She glared at Harry who simply smiled and wrapped his arm around Ginny's shoulders.
"Wait someone told you to stop reading a book and you listened?" Ron's voice was shocked.
"Who was it?" Ginny asked, her voice fairly dripping with curiosity. "I know it can have been Harry or Professor Snape. You never listen to them when you're reading. So, who was it?"
Hermione tried to stop Ginny's line of questioning. "Why don't you use Severus' first name? I know he's given you permission to."
"Old habits die hard. And don't try to distract me. Who was it?"
Hermione looked at each of her friends facing trying to find a way out of answering. Harry was no help he was clearing doing all in his power to keep from laughing. While Ron and Ginny were each giving her the same look of intense curiosity. Hermione sighed, know that she would have to answer. 'Please don't let this lead to a fight.' She pleaded silently in her head to any god that might listen. She took a deep breath and opened her mouth. "Lucius Malfoy."
