To say The Scientist was nervous would be an understatement.
He was the first person ever to be shrunk down. Ever.
He would go into Monsanto's Mighty Microscope and inside a snowflake.
All of this would be for science, of course. The advancement of mankind. For knowledge. And just to see if it could be done.
If it could be done, gaining better knowledge of molecules, atoms and the electrons, neutrons, and protons would help a lot of people, not just Monsanto.
This was why he was doing it.
Anything was worth doing if they were to gain scientific knowledge.
The plot of Adventure Thru Inner Space is that you're being shrunk down and travelling into a snowflake, and you're also hearing the narration a scientist had while he made the trip first. Some of it's haunting, but awesome.
X Atencio was a truly awesome Imagineer. I only wish I could write sentences as half as great as his: "What compelling force draws me into this mysterious darkness—can this be the threshold of inner space?"
And of course, the famous line from The Haunted Mansion: "Your cadaverous pallor betrays an aura of foreboding".
Everyone stop what you're doing and go appreciate X now.
Also, yes. The ride was sponsored by Monsanto. They truly were terrible. But, thankfully, are no more.
