Antonio watched as Sylvie moved around his tiny hospital room packing his things for him to leave. "I can do that" he tried to protest but she ignored him, "I can get Eva or Gabby to stay with me or I can stay with my mom" he continued his one-sided conversation, "I don't want to put any more stress on you." He paused and watched as she stopped folding a shirt and looked at him with a puzzled look on her face.

"If I didn't want to I wouldn't have decided to take care of you, plus you're in here because of me so it's the least I can do"

"You don't owe me anything, I'd rather die than see you hurt." He mumbled as he played with the tape holding the gauze from his IV in place.

"You almost did" Gabby's voice startled them both, she had been standing outside the door listening debating whether she should interrupt or just chicken out and leave.

"Uhm…. let me give you guys some space." Sylvie sat the shirt down wanting to get as far away from any drama as she could and made an attempt to leave. "Actually, I wanted to talk to you Sylvie, if you will," Gabby gave her a little smile, "I promise I won't bite."

Sylvie wanted nothing more than to escape and never have to mutter another word to Gabby ever again but she couldn't refuse, she was a people pleaser. "Okay, do you want to go get a coffee?" dread creeping over her as Gabby agreed.

The walk to the cafeteria was awkward and the long stretches of silence were bound to kill Sylvie, "He tried to go home with you but I wouldn't let him," Sylvie blurted out as they made their way to the basement, "if you'd rather him go with you, that's fine."

Gabby glanced at Sylvie but remained silent. "I just feel responsible." Sylvie felt like she was going to throw up, her nerves were getting the best of her, she hated confrontation.

"You're not, he would have never forgiven himself if something happened to you. It's his nature to protect the people he loves, you know that."

She watched as Sylvie played with her fingers refusing to look at her, "So listen," she grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards a table in the back where they could talk privately, "I don't want to fight or argue, I just want to try to finally figure this out. I think it's time we start acting like adults."

"You haven't had a nice word to say to me in years, so what's changed?"

Gabby sighed, she had run this conversation through her head a million times the last two weeks but actually saying the words was difficult. "I finally have all the pieces," she shrugged. "I just wish someone would have told me back then because it made no sense how I leave and come back and you guys had broken up and you and Matt were married."

"I'm still not even sure how it happened honestly, one minute I'm engaged to Tonio and the next I'm pregnant and married to Matt." She finally brought her eyes up to meet Gabby's and all the pain from the last ten years was still visible. "You don't want to hear any of this." She was shaking her head as she wiped the tears that were forming.

"I think it's the only way I'll ever get past it and you're the only one who can give me the whole story. Kim has her version but I think he hasn't told her the truth either and my mom and him have never told me anything, so I think I need yours for it to make sense."

Sylvie pushed her chair back and stretched trying to work up the courage to tell the person she hurt the most in this whole situation how she ended up married to the man she loved. "I found out I was pregnant after the umm…incident and it was hard. I didn't know what to do, I was all alone and hurt and mad at the whole world. I was assigned to dispatch and the only people who checked on me consistently were Stella and Matt."

"Why didn't you call me? I had no clue you were even pregnant until Tonio sent me a text that I was a Tia again."

"It wasn't personal I promise, I just didn't want anything to do with him including his friends and family so I just stopped talking to everyone, I'm sorry." She sighed, wishing she could change all the mistakes from that time that caused so much turmoil. "You know I cut him out of everything during my pregnancy and the first time I saw him in months was the night Abbie was born. He begged to be included but I couldn't trust him and it took a long time for him to gain any of my trust back."

"Do you want to know what the most ridiculous part of this whole mess is?" she laughed finally smiling for the first time.

"That you married Matt and have kids with my brother and ex-husband?"

Sylvie shook her head, "Well, yeah, that and…I was going to break up with Matt the night I found out I was pregnant, I wanted to work things out with Tonio but I couldn't break Matt's heart so I just stayed."

Gabby furrowed her brow still confused, "But Matt? That's the part I'm not understanding. You knew I still loved him, we had talked about it more than once and you knew I was going to come back and try to work it out when I was done with my assignment."

"I asked Stella if she could be my Lamaze coach but she was busy so I asked him." She shrugged wishing she could give her a better explanation. "And after that he was always just around, he showed up when Abbie was born, he drove us home from the hospital and he was always willing to help with her. I was a new mom all by myself needing as much help as I could get and before I even knew what was happening we were dating."

"Yup, that's Captain Casey, always the knight in shining armor." Gabby felt as if her eyes were going to roll out of her head if she had to think about Matt anymore. She may be ready to forgive and try to move on with Sylvie but she didn't think she would ever make it there with Matt.

"It's a lot of energy hating you, especially since I have to see you and I know I've done a lot of shitty stuff too but I think ten years is enough of this mess. I just want to move on so how about a truce?"

"A truce sounds perfect, I just want everyone to be happy and if you want Antonio to go home with you, I'm completely fine with that, I really don't want to overstep."

"Seriously are you really that dense? He doesn't want to go home with anyone else, he just wants you to say you want him there because you care about him not because you feel obligated."

Sylvie didn't know how to respond, of course she wanted Antonio there and the last thing she ever wanted was for Antonio to feel as if she was only caring for him out of obligation.

"You know he's in love with you don't you?" Sylvie cheeks started to turn scarlet as she shook her head, "No, we're just friends."

"Sylvie, come on, he's been in love with you since the day he met you, he was just standing there on the apparatus floor staring at you drooling all over himself and it's never changed he still watches you as if you walk on water and I have a feeling you feel the same."

Sylvie felt her phone buzz and checked her texts, she silently thanked her phone for the interruption, "It's Tonio, he's ready to go" she held her phone up to let Gabby read it.

"You go on up, I'm gonna go home, tell him I said bye and thanks for talking to me."

Sylvie made her way slowly back to Antonio's room, stopping just short of his door she took a deep breath trying to get rid of all the nerves her conversation with Gabby had created. She was happy that Gabby had finally forgiven her when she has never even been able to forgive herself for hurting her so badly and ruining everyone's lives in the process.

"There you are, you ready?" Antonio's voice pulled Sylvie from her thoughts. "Yeah let's get you home." She smiled.
