The last time Holly Morgan went out on a walk, was when a Doctor Who episode aired for the first time. That was last week. This week, she went on a walk again because another episode aired. The reason why she was out on walks when episodes aired was because her friends didn't want her to be spoiled when she was in the house when the episode aired.
They were very particular about spoilers for Holly, and she didn't know why it was such a big deal. She liked to know at least some spoilers before watching so that she could understand what was going on. But no, that wasn't the case. She couldn't know anything, but what she did know was only the first series. She saw Christopher Eccelston's regeneration into David Tennant.
She didn't admit that she liked it so that Scarlett Lucas could stop bugging her to watch more of the show. Scarlett eventually stopped asking Holly because Holly seemed out of interest. Holly eventually started to watch the show on her own, and secretly. She stopped after the "Girl In the Fireplace" episode, but hoped to continue it soon. Today she did plan on taking her phone and watching the episode on her walk. Though she didn't plan on walking when she watched the episode.
She sat down on a bench, ready to start the episode with a cup of coffeee in her hand. It was only 2:30 in the afternoon in America while in Europe it was 7:30. That's when the episodes normally aired.
She hits play, but when she does, she hears a noise that makes her immediately pause it. It was someone trying to talk to her. Holly didn't realize it until she felt the person tap on her shoulder. It was a man with gray hair.
"Oh, hi. Sorry I didn't see you there," says Holly as the man gave her a kind smile. He pointed to her phone.
"What's that on your phone?" He asks. The Scottish accent makes her surprised.
"You're Scottish," she remarks, making him roll his eyes.
"Yes. I am," he replies. She smiles.
"You must've come a long way to America. Did you come to America recently? Like are you visiting?"
"Ah, about that, no. I live here," he says. "I'm waiting for my son to come down. I'm supposed to meet him."
"What's your son's name?" Holly asks him. The man makes a face, like he's half cringing and half smiling. He changes the subject back to what Holly was watching.
"Oh, it's Doctor Who," she smiles, then frowns. "I hope you don't know my friend Scarlett, because she'd flip if she knew I was watching this show without her. I stopped watching with her because she got annoying when I was watching it with her. My first time and her tenth time. It's annoying honestly. Sorry I'm rambling. Wait a second, is that Nathaniel? Nathaniel!"
Nathaniel Hogan, Holly's other best friend, was walking down the street behind some other Americans who looked at Holly like she was crazy. Holly looked back at the Scottish man who had his hand behind his neck, scratching it as he looked the opposite direction.
Nathaniel wasn't that far from them, but Holly could tell Nathaniel's face turned paler than normal. He walked toward the two who were on the bench and Holly quickly exited out of the app she was watching Doctor Who on. She took a sip of her coffee before asking Nathaniel what he was doing there while the show was airing. He was supposed to be with Scarlett.
"I told her I had to meet with someone," he replies, looking over at the Scottish man who was listening, giving him a small smile. The man got up from the bench.
"It was nice to meet you..." he paused, wanting the name of the girl, "Holly," she says, "Holly. Holly Morgan? Nathaniel's told me about you."
"Oh, has he?" She asks, eyeing Nathaniel as he stands there. He gives a half smile like the Scottish man did.
"Yes, a lot. I think I'll let you two sort things out while I wait for you, Nathaniel Mo- Hogan. Nathaniel Hogan."
Nathaniel glares at his father. Holly playfully slaps his arm as she asks the Scottish man for a name.
"Theta," he says, "just Theta."
Nathaniel's eyes widened. His father saying his actual name in front of them? The Doctor never revealed his name. But this moment was history. This moment was going to haunt him when he came back to the world of the Doctor, and his mother's future.
Holly smiles. "That's a great name! I've never heard anyone have that name before. Is it some sort of Scottish background?"
The Doctor gives a small smile. "Actually–"
He gets cut off by a scream. Her scream. A white glow forms around her as Nathaniel lets go of Holly's arm. The Doctor looks at Nathaniel with anger.
"What did you just do?!" He shouts as she vanishes from them in thin air. The iPod Holly was holding had dropped. The only thing that she was able to have with her was her coffee cup. (And obviously, her clothes.)
