The next morning
Stella woke up to lance coming into her room. She sat up in fear, remembering his temperament from yesterday.
"Stella, Im sorry." Lance started. He got on his knees by her bed, grabbing her hands. "I really don't know what got into me. I felt like my head was about to explode and it irritated me. I have no excuses for my actions, but I want you to know that from the bottom of my heart I am very, very sorry for how i treated you."
"Lance...you threw a dumbbell at me. I could've gotten hurt."
"I know. I can't forgive myself for that. Please try to forgive me." He laid his forehead on her hands.
"Lance.. let's talk later, ok?" She squeezed by him and went into her closet. She came back out, wearing her usual sundress.
Lance smiled, holding her close. Stella looked nervous, and not the good kind.
" I love you, Stella."
Stella faked a smile "I love you too."
Lance went to kiss her, but she pulled back and headed out the door. Lance stood there, disappointment filled his heart. He knew he messed up.
Stella opened the kitchen door, seeing baron facing away from her, eating an orange. A small smile crossed her face. Baron felt someone was staring, so he turned, spotting the blonde beauty. He grinned.
"Ah, good morning, Stella." He chirped.
Stella jumped before walking up, twirling a piece of her hair. "Umm..good morning, Baron."
"Care to sit next to me? The robot got more fresh fruit last night after going to the movies."
"Oh..sure.." she said. Baron scooted the chair back for her, scooting it back in when she sat down.
"Such a gentleman." Mused Stella.
"Well I must treat a beautiful woman like yourself with the upmost respect." Baron lifted her chin to give her a devilish smile. Stella blushed.
"Oh stop it." She giggled. They paused for a few moments, looking away for awhile.
"So Stella,"
"Yes?" She said
"Do you want to go back to that dance place Friday?"
"Sure!"
"Sounds good." Baron said, getting up to head back to the living room. He was stopped by Ilana, who had gotten in his way.
"Oh, Good morning, you two! Should I assume you guys are getting along now?" Ilana asked.
Baron looked over his shoulder, pondering Stella's answer. She had a big smile on her face.
"Yes. Everything is much better now." She said
"Great!" Ilana chirped as she went to sit next to Stella, wanting to spend time with her stepsister. Baron left them to chat.
"I'm glad you two are getting along better. I was worried this household would be a hostile war zone with you and lance against baron."
"Ugh, don't get me started on Lance. He's been super moody lately."
" I'm sure he'll get over it. You seem to be the only one who can truly calm him down."
"Yeah..." Stella sighed, staring at her hands in sadness.
Ilana pouted her lips, not enjoying her sister being upset.
"Hey...you know you two didn't have to split up because of me, right?"
Stella jumped, waving her hands. "Oh no no! That's not it! It was better to do that anyway for your protection. You don't have powers, after all. And besides," she grabbed her hands, giving her a big smile. "Things between Lance and I are better apart because we can focus on what's really important: you."
Ilana smiled back, gripping Stellas hands tightly, before letting go to hug her.
"Thank you, Stella."
"It's no problem, Ilana." She said, hugging her back. The two step sisters pulled back and made breakfast for themselves, enjoying the rest of the morning with each other.
Lance had taken Stella out three times that week. Each time, Stella seemed unbothered by the gestures he's made to make up for his behavior. Even when he would kiss her goodnight after their date, It would seem that Stella was not into it at all. It made Lance, nervous. Very nervous. She has never been this mad at him. He had to find out what else was the problem. Everyone was in the kitchen, prepping for dinner, while lance snuck back upstairs to talk to the fairy. He knocked gently before coming in to see Stella at her vanity brushing her hair.
"Stella, can we talk?"
Stella sighed, setting her brush down.
"Sure. What is it?"
"Listen, about that night..when I acted out of character...you're not still mad about it, are you?"
"What do you think?" She glared at him.
"Stella, I've apologized and made it up to you many times now, how long until you forgive me?"
"What, you think I'm gonna do it that fast?? You acted bi-polar! You know I didn't mean to hit you, but you meant to hit me! "
"I'm sorry, okay?! "
"Sorry isn't gonna change the fact that you almost smashed my face in! I'm not ready to forgive you for it!"
Lance looked hurt for a second, then glared at the fairy.
"I forgave you for kissing baron behind my back. Even though it hurt me more then you think. I guess you can't do the same."
Stella sat up now, getting into his face. Her yellow aura outlined her body as she grew angrier.
"What? Now you think you're all high and mighty bringing that up? Do NOT bring Baron into this when he's got nothing to do with it."
"YOURE the one acting high and mighty by being a giant hypocrite! If you do something wrong we have to forgive and forget but if I do something wrong it doesn't go away! I've done all I can to make up for my behavior!"
"Not enough." Stella muttered , rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, not enough for a spoiled brat." Lance snapped. Stella gasped and glared at him, him returning the look.
That was when baron came in.
"Stella, Ilana wants me to tell you that dinner is- oh." Baron said, seeing the two locked in a glaring contest.
"Am I interrupting something?"
"Nothing important." Stella said, walking away from Lance. His scowl grew colder when she backed off.
"What is it?" Stella asked. Her aura went away as she calmed down.
"Ilana said dinner is ready."
"I'm not hungry." Muttered Lance, bumping shoulders with Baron on his way out. Lance slammed his bedroom door soon after, making the other two jump. Baron turned to Stella.
" Are you alright?"
"Yeah. Dont worry about him." She smiled at baron, who returned it.
"Hungry?" He asked
"Starving."
"Well, lets go eat then." He took her hand. She held his. They both smiled and baron led her to the kitchen, letting go when they walked in.
Lance saw the whole thing and shuddered. He slid down his bedroom door, sulking into his knees. He could feel her drifting away, and it was all his fault.
