Holly didn't wake up as fast as Neil did. So when she woke up, she was panicking trying to know where she was.
"What? Where am I?" Holly says out loud to herself. There's a pause before buzzing interrupts her. It was the TARDIS trying to tell her something, but she couldn't understand.
"Frost? Is that you talking?"
"Frost? Who's that?" Holly asks.
"It's Amy. You know me, Frost."
"Uh- Sorry, but-"
"I can't open the door. Something's wrong."
"It's locked," says Holly.
"Your accent's different," says Amy from the outside.
"Frost? Are you awake?" says an unfamiliar, familiar voice.
"Doctor?" asks Holly as he opens the door the TARDIS only unlocked for him.
"I'll be back in a few, Amy! Tell Leila to make some breakfast for you or something."
"Alright," says the Scottish voice, and then Holly hears the footsteps walk away.
Holly doesn't have a chance to say anything as the eleventh Doctor wraps his arms around Holly in her bed. Her hearts thump as they fall backwards onto her pillows.
"Thank you for writing in your diary," he murmurs to her. "That's how I saved you."
"You've been reading my diary?" she says, blushing as he has his eyes closed.
"Yes. I just knew there was some way I could save you. I wanted to know when my future, which is my current self saved you. I had to get your future self out of the way so I had time to save you."
"So you pushed future me out of the TARDIS, huh?"
"Don't worry. You're with a future companion. Riv- Oh. You don't know her yet."
"River Song? Yeah I have. She was with Leila when — when — ugh."
"What?" The Doctor opens his eyes.
"When I regenerated after my second body. Leila had teleported me to where she was with a basket of food so I could eat after I regenerated."
"That's nice," says the Doctor, closing his eyes again after watching her talk, admiring her.
"What's changed between us in the future?" Holly asks. "I mean, why did the woman call me 'Frost?' Is that a nickname like 'Doctor?'"
"Ah," says the Doctor. "Yes. It is. Eventually you tell me why you picked the name. I never realized that you got it from... now. But there's one thing-"
"Doctor? Holly?"
"Mmm?" says Holly as the Doctor's head goes further into the pillow.
"I heard you were awake and I was just-"
Neil Snow smirks which makes Holly growl as the Doctor wraps his arms around her waist, pulling her closer. The Doctor asks what's wrong.
"Neil keeps commenting about me having a crush on you," Holly says. She takes a deep breath.
"Wow, I never thought I'd say that. To you."
"Very clever boy," the Doctor points at Neil. Holly blushes even more.
"I better get going-"
Neil is interrupted by Holly getting up from her position and reaching her arms out to grab Neil, but he was already out the door.
She flops back in bed after the Doctor groans because he didn't want her to move.
"If it helps... back then I liked you too."
"Liked?" Repeats Holly, making the Doctor roll his eyes.
"Holly if I hated you, I-"
"I get what you mean," she laughs.
"I'm still jealous of Astrid," she comments, looking at him. He puts a hand to his head.
"Look, I'm sorry. I thought you were dead and I was-"
"You kissed her?" Holly says, seeing the image of him and Astrid in his mind. The Doctor cringed.
"As I was saying, I was very upset that you guys-"
"I don't want to hear it," says Holly. "Anyway, what was it that you wanted to say before we got... interrupted?"
She growled at the thought of Neil coming in.
"So I want you do to this thing when you come back to my past self... if you do this, I will think about it a lot, and something may just happen..."
"A whole month of me being gone from you?" Holly says as she walks with the Doctor, arms around his waist. The Doctor nods.
"But you'll come at an interesting time. Don't worry because Leila will be there. She told me she was."
"This is only my third time sorry, fourth time being here," says Leila as she sees the two together. Leila shows Holly the faint black sharpie on her wrist.
"When I first arrived, I was in an episode where the Doctor doesn't remember until it happens," she tells Holly, hoping The Doctor didn't question it.
"I don't remember it either, so I have a few suspicions as to what happened in it."
"Okay, and..."
"I just wanted to say," Leila says as she goes around the TARDIS's console. Neil wasn't there anymore, and Holly could finally breathe. "I just wanted to say that you will be able to see how fresh this marking is when you arrive in the past."
"So you remember that happening?" Holly asks as the Doctor lets go. Her hearts beat as he moves around the console.
"So. Are you ready for the best time of your life?" The Doctor asks Holly with a smile, seeing that her cheeks are still red from what just happened.
"Of course Doctor, but just know that my future self will be mad at you for sending me with River."
"You sent her with River?" asks Leila. The Doctor nods.
"Everything will be fine," says the Doctor.
"You're beginning to sound like Scarlett," says Holly, "speaking of which, I haven't seen her yet. When will-?"
She gets cut off by the halt of the TARDIS, because of how terrible of a driver he was.
"Guess I'll find out later," she says with a huff as the Doctor gives her a sad smile. He comes to where she is and hugs her.
"No matter where you are and I'm not there... I'll always find you," he says, quoting the show 'Once Upon a Time.' Holly's hearts beat faster.
"We've watched that show in my future, haven't we?" asks Holly, immediately recognizing the line. "Good to know this universe has good shows. Does it have Harry Potter?"
"And Back to the Future!" says Leila happily. "On the TV show they mention those two in the same episode! When they went to Shakespeare. Right Doctor?"
"Mm? Don't remember," he says as he is still hugging Holly. Holly looks at Leila with the wide eyes and looking back at the Doctor's hair.
"Here's one more thing I was supposed to give you. I was always wondering where you found it," says the Doctor, pulling away. He hands her an invisible ink pen with uv light.
"When the time is right, open your journal to the first page. That's why River wrote "do not write" on the first page."
"Ah. So River did that?"
"Yes. And then it'll reveal the secret message. I have yet to find out when I give you this journal. I'm afraid it'll still be a while for me."
"Yes. It'll be where this giant box is-"
The TARDIS beeps at Holly, trying to tell her that it was time to go.
Holly clears her throat as she sees him staring at her.
"Good luck with my future self," she tells him. "And thank you."
"For what?"
"For saving me. For giving me this. For... everything."
