as the group was on their way to Amber town Daniel was holding up nidorans pokeball thinking up a name for her as dour was sniffing around the camp they had set up. the otheres released their pokemon form their pokeballs so they could relax daniel decided to do the same and released nidoran from her pokeball. she looked around for a moment before walking over to Daniel and smiling at him. the other pokemon took notice of their new friemd and all wanted to greet her.
"you know i hope the other pokemon dont scare nidoran off." misty said to brock who was making lunch for everyone.
"im more worried about your water pokemon scaring off daniel, MIsty." brock says looking at daniel who was a bit unerved by the water pokemon who where near daniel.
"Guess i never realized he didnt like water pokemon." MIsty said looking down
"Hey ash how about a small battle before lunch." daniel said ash looked at him and girnned
"Sure im always up for a battle besides this will be good practice for the vermiallion city gym." he said the two of them got ready to battle daniel was using his nidoran and ash was useing butterfree misty was acting as referee
"I'll let you have the first attack." ash said smirking daniel grinned
"Alright toxica use poison sting!" daniel shouted toxica ran forward and fired poisonous needles at butterfree who flew out of the way and used gust attack toxica was able to hold her ground and then juped to use double kick on butterfree who flew out of the way.
"not bad ash you trained your butterfree now but this battle is now over toxica use Poison sting!" Daniel shouted toxica jumped into the air and fired poisonous needles but butterfree flew out of the way and the needles hit the bush behind butterfree
"Yeow!" a shout from the bushes ash, daniel, mistya and brock turned to look at the bushes.
"uh you guys heard that too right?" daniel asked ash and the others nodded. ash walked over too the bushes
"hey is someone over there?" ash said he
"yeah im fine" said someone as a boy a bit older then daniel climbed out of the bushes he had blond hair was wearing a red shirt black jacket and blue pants with green shoes.
"but who was the one who fired that posion sting at me?" he said annoyed daniel rubbed his neck and chucked nervously
"Sorry about that me and ash were training when toxicas poison sting missed his butterfree." he explained however that didnt seem to take it well.
"so it was you who tried to posion me huh well i wont stand for it!" he shouted daniel held his arms up and kept trying to apologize
"who are you anyway?" brock asked. the boy turned to look at them and grinned. he took a step back and smiled
"My name is gavin and im a pokemon coordinator." he said that caught daniels attention
"Did you just say coordinator im a coordinator too my names spencer and these are my pokemon dour and toxica." he siad
"My name is ash and this is my pikachu and the two over there are misty and brock" ash said walking up to gavin. who looked at daniel then laughed.
"i recognize you. you were in the ceruleon pokemon contests werent you. you had to drop out before even performing you gotta admit thats pretty funny." he siad laughing daniel didnt find it very funny.
"hey it was our first contest we've been training since then right dour." he siad looking at his houndour who nodded. gavin smirked
"well in that case why dont we have ourselves a pokemon battle two pokemon each how does that sound if youve been training it shouldnt be a problem." he said daniel was nervous but the look of confidence he got form toxica and dour was enough for him.
"ok you got yourself a battle." he siad the two of them got ready.
"this will be easy come on out beedrill!" gavin shout throwing his pokeball which released a big bug pokeon.
"it just had to be a beedrill didnt it ok your up dour." dnaiel said dour ran forward and got ready for battle. on the sidlines ash, misty and brock were watching the battle.
"you think daniel can win?" misty asked brock looked at the two combatents.
"sure he has the type advantage afterall he cant use toxica because poison type moves arent as effective on other poison types like beedrill." brock said
"come on daniel show him what your made of!" ash shouted pikachu was also cheering.
"since im so nice i'll let you have the first move." gavin said daniel glared at him.
"all right dour lets go ember attack!" he shouted dour ran forward and fired small fire balls at the beedrill which hit and delt super effective damage.
"Darn that dogs faster then he looks ok beedrill use twineedle attack" gavin shouted beedrill began to try and hit dour with its stinger arms.
"DOur use sucker punch now" daniel shouts dour smirks and his pwas glow black as he strikes beedrill hard.
"what was that?" Gavin askes in surprise daniel smirked.
"sucker punch is a move that only works when your opponent is attacking." daniel said.
"now dour finish him with a ember attack now!" daniel shouts smiling dour once again fires fireballs at beedrill casuing it to collaps on the ground."
"no way beedrill comeback and rest ok" he said calling beedrill back to its pokeball.
"ok now for my next pokemon come on out Squritle!" he throws a pokeball and out comes a squirtle daniel gulps and begins to shake.
"ok squirtle use water gun attack" gavin said squirtle fired a powerful jet of water at hondour who dodged he barked at daniel to snap him out of his shock daniel shook his head and got back into the battle.
"Alright dpur use ember." he shouted dour fired flames at squirtle who doghed it
"hit him with a water gun attack." squirtles attack hit home this time and dour being tired from his previous battle with beedrill fell unconcious. daniel recalled him to his pokeball.
"you did great dour now its your turn toxica." he shouted toxica jumped into the battle .
"hit it with your poison sting attack." daniel said toxica fired poisonioys needles
"ok squirtle use withdraw." gavin said with a smirk but his smirk faded when he saw daniel smile.
"i was hoping youd use withdraw now use double kick." daniel said while squirtle was in its shell toxica kicked it hard into a tree knocking it out.
"no way it got knocked out already." gavin said surprised.
"hahahah you shouldnt underestimate my nidoran Toxica is one tough pokemon." daniel said walking up to gavin
"is squirtle ok that was a hard kick." ash said as he misty and brock walked over. gavin looked at them and smiled.
"dont worry he's fine and i need to apologize daniel your a good trainer you trained your nidoran and houndour very well. cant wait to see what you do in your next contest." gavin said daniel smiled.
"yeah and i cant wait to have a contest battle with you someday." he said gavin smiled and headed out.
"we should head out too its a long road to amber town." brock said. they all smiled
And so daniel met a new rival with gavin and showed that he's growing as a trainer but who knows whats gonna happen next will he meet a new rival or will he make a new friend find out next time on pokemon.
