while on the road to Amber town ash had managed to catch a charmander bulbasur and squirtle daniel was happy for his friend as he'd need those pokemon to enter the pokemon league thinking about the pokemon league got danile thinking about the grand festivel he knows he needs five ribbons in order to enter it yet he hasn't even won one noticing their friend deep in thought brock decided to distract him.
"hey daniel tell me again the rules of pokemon contests." he said misty and ash looked at him then to daniel who thought for a moment.
"ok brock in order to win a pokemon contest you need to first win the appeal stage where your show of your pokemon using moves and the training you put in. then if the judges give you enough points. i cant wait for the amber town contest this time theres no way i'll lose." daniel said getting excited for his next pokemon contest.
"i cant wait to see all the performances in the contest." misty said smiling. the group chatted for a while till they found a clearing and decided to stop for lunch they let out their pokemon and as the food was being made daniel got a idea.
"hey guys im gonna go look for some pokemon ok." daniel said as dour and toxica got up and followed him.
"ok just be careful alright we dont know what pokemon are in this area so be sure to stay by your pokemon just incase alright." brock said as he stirred the pot of stew.
"got it dont worry we wont be gone for too long." daniel then went off with his pokemon into the woods as they looked they noticed there werent a lot of pokemon around.
"weird we've been walking around for a while but havent even seen a caterpie or oddish." daniel said nervously he looked around but still no pokemon to be seen. toxicas ears began to twitch and she turned towards a bush that was shaking she made a noise to get daniel and dours attention.
"hey finally wonder what pokemon it is." daniel said getting excited out of the bushes wandered out...a cubone.
"a cubone huh pretty cool to be honest." daniel took out his pokedex.
[cubone the lonely pokemon: its speculated that the helmet cubone wears is the skull of its can be heard at night] his pokedex said Daniel looked at the cute Pokemon then to his pokedex.
"Well that's dark" Daniel said he looked at dour who nodeed and ran forward the cubone reacted immediately and used bonemerang throwing its bone at dour who dodged it.
"Alright now use ember!" Daniel shouted dour fired small fire balls at the cubone who used its bone club to deflect it. one of the fire balls went into a bush and soon after a buzzing sound was heard.
"wait... dont tell me that buzzing is..." daniel began to sweat nervously as a beedrill came out of the bush buzzing angirly and along with it a whole swarm of beedrill followed. they all stared at daniel and the pokemon.
"ok nobody move a muscle. lets calmly back away and head back to camp." daniel whispered his pokemon understood nodding their heads but the cubone seemed to not understand as it threw its bone club at a beedrill only making it angrier daniel and his pokemon paled as the cubone began to taunt the beedrill leading to them diving at the group daniel screamed grabbing the cubone cause he doesnt want to leave it to die as they ran they could hear the buzzing slowly get louder and louder Daniel looked behind them and screamed a whole swarm of angry beedrill were chasing them. To make matters worst when they were out of the forest they came to a cliff.
" oh man theres no way we could climb this in time." daniel said he looked back at the beedrills and dove to the side to avoid a sludge bomb from a beedrill he almost dropped cubone who happened to wake up.
"i guess we dont have a choice dour use ember attack, Toxica poison sting now!" Daniel commanded. his pokemon launched their attacks at the beedril but the swarm kept buzzing louder and louder. soon they were flying around daniel and his pokemon.
"jeez why are there so many beedrill?!" daniel shouts. he gets tacked by one of the beedril and gets knocked to the ground the beedrill gets ready to use twineedle on him but the cubone smacked it away with bone club.
"wow your stronger then you look little fellah." daniel said he had to duck right after to avoid another beedrill. the cubone looked at the other pokemon and saw they were exhausted it looked at daniel and saw him covering his head the cubone then punched the ground and and a tornado of sand formed.
"Is that... no way thats sandstorm!" daniel shouted over the roaring sand. the beedrill all got swepted up in the sandstorm.
"No way ive never seen such a small pokemon produce such a massive sandstorm this is amazing!" daniel states holding onto Dour and Toxica soon the sandstorm subsided and the beedrill were all on the ground unconcious with cubone cheering. daniel just shook his head in disbelief amazed by what he had witnessed.
" i got to admit that was pretty cool of you cubone that sandstorm was amazing." he said patting the cubone on its head.
"hey Daniel is that you over there!" a familier voice called out at the edge of the forest. daniel looked and saw ash, misty , brock and a nurse joy.
"yeah its me we're all ok over here!" he called back as he and the pokemon made their way to ash and the joy led them to a pokemon center were they could rest and boy did they need it. daniel and his group sat
"man that was a rush i've never felt so tired." daniel said.
"you were lucky we saw that sandstorm. what happend out there anyway." brock asked curious.
"well i was trying to catch this cubone here but we accidntly angered a swarm of beedrill and they chased us all over the place . i thought we were gonners till this little guy caused a massive sandstorm he's got a lot of power thats for sure." daniel explained looking at the cubone sleeping in his lap.
"for a wild cubone he sure seems to be comfortable with you." misty said smiling at how cute cubone looked.
"well i bet surviving a beedrill swarm brings you closer." ash said. nurse joy then walked up to them with houndour and nidoran by her side.
"well daniel your pokmeon are all ok and helathy even after that scare you had in the woods." she said smiling daniel gave a sigh of relief.
"thank goodness i was worried they got hurt in that fight earlier.. by the way do you know why there are so many beedrill in the area?" he asked ash misty and brock looked at nurse joy. who chuckled.
"why yes this area is known has honeycomb woods. the forest is home to a massive beedrill hive that live here. the trees release a very sweet sap that the beedrill and weedle just love. many trainers are warned bout this place though but you guys set up camp before coming to the pokemon center so i couldnt tell you." nurse joy said ash's group sighed.
"well at least we're all safe now right?" misty asked nurse joy nodded.
"the beedrill dont come to the pokemon center and i know a path that you guys can take to get out of the woods without running into another swarm." she said the group cheered wich woke up the cubone.
"glad to see your finally awake cubone." daniel said the cubone then hugged him.
"wow your very attached to me now arent you." daniel said smiling at the cubone.
"hey daniel why dont you take it with you?" brock asked daniel looked at the cubpne who nodded its head vigorusly daniel smailed and tapped its head with a pokemon catching it.
"sweet now i have a cubone and with Toxica and Dour that makes three pokemon." he cheered. the group stayed in the pokmeon center since they figured the beedrill swarm may still be a bit angry and wanted to be safe (and by they that means mostly misty) and the next day they left on there journy to Amber town.
