Recap:

"I-it wasn't that big of a d-deal, it's what any hero would do," Izuku replied smiling a small Cheshire cat like grin. Looking down at his hand, Izuku noticed a mark in the shape of a fox's head with nine tails around it. "This power is amazing; I can't wait to see what else I…"

"Ahem, Ningen, I believe you mean we." Izuku jumped slightly at hearing Kurama chime in but shook his head and smiled one more Cheshire like grin, "We, Kurama, I can't wait to see what we can do."

"Good," replied the snow-white fox, grinning along with her vessel.

"Good."

Chapter 1: A Meeting

"Mom! Hey Mom," Izuku yelled excitedly upon entering the Midoriya household. Izuku's mother, Inko, was a petite woman whose green hair framed her face.

"Yes Izuku, what is it dear," the mother of one asked while coming out of the living room.

"I activated my quirk Mom…I'm not quirkless," Izuku replied maintaining the excitement that had built on his way home from the park.

"Izuku baby, you heard what the doctor said, you…"

"No Mom, look, look," Izuku interrupted hastily whilst attempting to tap into his newfound ability.

Inko watched her son in shock as he began to channel an unknown energy. Izuku kept his focus as best he could, but the exertion from defending the child at the park had caught up to him, causing Izuku to stumble forward. Inko, being the ever-aware mother, was already waiting to catch her boy as he continued to fall forward. Looking down at the child in her arms, Inko could only let out a tearful chuckle while silently thanking whatever deity for the doctor being wrong about her son.

Once again Izuku found himself in the meadow looking up at the vibrant orange sky, reflecting the sunset. "Oh, I'm here again," the green haired boy stated aloud, while sitting up in the field.

"Where else would you expect to be, Ningen?"

"EH," squeaked out a startled Izuku turning quickly to find himself face to face with the grinning face of Kurama. "How do you manage to sneak up on me when you're the size of mountain," Izuku shouted genuinely confused.

"I'm your quirk young Ningen, it would be wise to assume that when you arrive here, it would be somewhere near to me," explained the fox whose grin seemingly didn't leave her face.

"Makes sense," thought Izuku as he nodded along to the explanation.

"Well, of course it makes sense," the white fox stated in a matter of fact tone.

"Wait, can you read my mind," the wide-eyed child asked.

"Yes, we are connected Ningen. I am a part of you as much as you are a part of me," Kurama answered before continuing, "now I'm sure you have questions more relevant to our abilities, do you not?"

"Yes, I guess I want to know what our power is," began Izuku, "you said earlier that I would be able to summon you, but not yet."

"That is correct Ningen," replied the fox, "currently your body can handle the bare minimum of our power. You notice my tails, correct?" Izuku just nodded to the question, "well my nine tails represent the power that I have, and that you can use to aid you," continued Kurama, tails swishing ever so slightly.

"The power you saw earlier barely scratched the surface of one tail."

Izuku's eyes widened at that statement, "b-but I felt so powerful, you mean I, we, will be stronger." Kurama chuckled at the boys correction of "I" to "we."

"You're an interesting one, Ningen, most others wouldn't catch themselves in calling this power theirs," Kurama stated while repositioning her head slightly.

"What do you mean," the child asked inquisitively, "the power is ours isn't it?"

"The power is rightfully yours Ningen, I was always to be your quirk, I have been with you since birth, however I am sentient, I am able to think and feel, so in a way the power is mine to bestow to you," the vixen explained, before continuing, "by all means, you could force me to give you the power…"

"NO," Izuku shouted interrupting the fox, "w-we're partners, I'd rather be quirkless then force you to give power."

Kurama looked at the boy in shock, not for yelling as that seems to be a common trait for the skittish child, but because of the declaration that they were partners. "Well Ningen, I am glad to be partners with one as caring as yourself," Kurama told the boy earnestly, "let's continue with how our power works, shall we?" Smiling, Izuku nodded fervently.

"Our connection grants you passive benefits," the fox began again, "such that your life force will be granted a substantial boost, and your healing factor will be significantly increased."

"Does that mean I won't get sick," questioned the young boy who managed to find his way onto the tail nearest to Kurama's face.

The vixen couldn't help but smile slightly at the boy as he snuggled further into her fur, "Yes Ningen, with me you shouldn't be able to get sick, even major injuries should heal far faster than usual."

"What about that shroud thing," continued Izuku whilst yawning, "your fur is soft."

"You're a funny one Ningen," the fox responded, "but that is the main offensive aspect of our power. It's the fox cloak, it will boost your strength, speed, and agility, as well as serve as a minor armor against attacks."

"That's…so cool…Kurama," the green haired boy yawned out, finally succumbing to excitement the day brought him.

"Sleep well, Ningen," Kurama chuckled out softly while pulling her tail to her body to ensure Izuku's comfort.

From that day on, Izuku spent as much time as he could trying to understand all his power. For this, Kurama had suggested trying to meditate, for, as she described, it would be the easiest way to visit his mindscape. As he grew the green haired boy, as well as his mother, noticed that he had gained heightened senses. The vixen in his mind explained to him that it was necessary so that he could utilize his quirk better, but with that came a major drawback with regards to city life. Izuku, with his hearing heightened, had taken to wearing headphones so as to drown out some of the noise.

(Time skip: 10 years later)

It was a new day in Mustafu as a boy with green hair rushed through the crowds beginning to form. Wearing headphones, the boy looked like a typical middle schooler, most people being unassuming of the sentient being he carried inside.

"Ningen, slow down, why are you in such a rush," a voice rang out inside the boy's head while he continued to weave through the crowd.

"There was reported villain activity near here Kurama, I want to see how the heroes respond," replied the boy, "plus what if All Might shows up."

"Again with your All Might obsession, Ningen," questioned Kurama in a huff, "I don't see why you think that bunny rip off is so great."

"He's not a bunny Kurama, jeez"

"Have you seen his hair Ningen?"

"But…"

"But nothing, that's a bunny if I've ever seen one."

Shaking his head at the vixen's antics, his eyes shone brightly in the morning sunlight, as he looked ahead to see a gathering crowd surrounding a villain attack. Izuku couldn't contain his excitement as he joined the mass of people and began edging his way to the front. "I wonder who is going to show up for this," he thought aloud, still waiting to see the hero response. That's when he saw him, "oh, oh, that's Kamui Woods," the hero fanboy exclaimed reaching for his pack to grab a notebook.

"You're very excited young man," a voice said capturing the teens attention causing him to look at a older man standing to his right. "I take it you're aspiring to be a hero one day," the man asked with a knowing smile.

"Y-yes sir, it's been my dream since before I got a quirk," replied Izuku before focusing back on Kamui, who was about to finish the villain.

"Quirk usage during rush hour, and severe property damage whilst committing a robbery. You are the incarnation of evil," the wooden hero stated while rearing his right arm back.

"Here it comes," Izuku thought grinning.

"Oh joy Ningen," Kurama drawled out sarcastically.

"Pre-emptive binding: Lacquered Chain Prison," cried out Kamui, his arm shooting forward sending branches towards the villain.

"Canyon Cannon!"

Before Kamui could subdue the villain, a giant woman entered the fray dynamically kicking villain knocking him unconscious, and ending the situation there. "Today is my debut. My name is Mount Lady, I'm pleasured to make your ass-quaintance," the heroine stated suggestively, causing Izuku to deadpan.

"That was…interesting, to say the least," thought the green haired teen.

"Interesting? Ningen, are you sure you want to use our powers to be like that," Kurama questioned, absolutely floored by the display that she witnessed?

"No Kurama, not like that, but I do want to defend those that can't defend themselves," answered the teen with a smile, "plus I wouldn't want to embarrass the mighty nine tailed fox that is my partner, now would I?"

"If you become like that woman, I will eat you."

"Sure you will fluffy, sure you will," Izuku chuckled out as Kurama growled at her unofficial nickname.

With the excitement dying down, Izuku continued his trek to school, his thoughts focused on the day that he would become a pro-hero. Seemingly tuning out the world, the green haired teen continued towards his destination, "-ingen…Ningen!" Finaly registering the giant fox's calls, Izuku looked down much too late, resulting in him colliding with another pedestrian.

"Ouch," he muttered while rubbing his head.

"I tried to warn you Ningen," Kurama chided, "ever since you were little, you'd tune out everything."

"I know, I know," responded the boy as he looked to see who he ran into, hoping that they weren't injured. Izuku's mind seemingly stopped, directly in front of him sat a girl no older than he was, her black hair in a spiky ponytail. Izuku was on his feet in an instant apologizing, "I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings."

"It's okay, I shouldn't have been reading while walking, so I believe we are both at fault here," the girl said with a smile. Offering her a hand, Izuku helped her up, while handing her the book that she dropped in the fall.

"Again I am sorry for running into you," Izuku apologized while bowing. "And once again, it's perfectly okay…"

"Midoriya, Midoriya Izuku," the greenette finished for the girl.

"It's fine Midoriya-san, I'm not hurt. See," the girl said while spinning to show him that she was fine.

"Well that's good, I would have…"

"You're going to be late for school."

"Holy crap I gotta go I'm going to be late for school," the teen shouted out quickly. "Sorry again," shouted Izuku, trailing off slightly with an unsaid question, while sprinting towards his school hoping to make it by first bell.

"Yaoyorozu Momo," the girl, now known as Momo, called out after the fleeing boy.

"Yaoyorozu-san," finished the teen before turning the corner.

"He was interesting," she thought as she prepared to continue her trek, book in hand. As she began walking, a discarded notebook caught her eye. Picking it up, "Hero Analysis Volume 13," she said reading the title. Looking towards the bottom of the cover she could see a name scribbled, "Midoriya Izuku." "Midoriya-san must have dropped this when we bumped into each there," the ponytailed girl stated smiling slighty. "Guess I'll return it to him if I see him again. Though, based on the title, I think there's a pretty good chance," she thought wistfully as she slipped the notebook into her bag and continued on her way.

Izuku had managed to reach his class on time, breathing a sigh of relief, "had you not been so engrossed in that vixen you bumped into, you wouldn't have had to rush," Kurama chided, causing the green haired boy to choke a little.

"Kurama! I was not engrossed by her…I was just focused on making sure she was okay," Izuku countered, a faint blush appearing, "and she's not a vixen, her name was Momo."

"You know I feel what you feel Ningen, your heart is beating faster at the thought of the vixen," retorted the giant fox slyly, "my how the little Ningen has grown."

"Kurama," cried the teen now blushing furiously to the melodic laugh of his tenant.

Sitting lower in his chair, Izuku listened idly as his teacher began, "well you are all third years, and will have to decide on your careers…who am I kidding you're all going to try to join the hero course," he finished with a flourish to the cheers of the rest of the class.

"So loud," thought the emerald teen while turning the volume up on his headphones.

"So annoying is more like it," muttered Kurama.

"Ha, don't compare me to the second rate losers, most of them won't even make it into a real hero school," came the taunting voice of the class's resident explosive blonde, Bakugo Katsuki.

"Ehh," responded the class in indignation, while Izuku could only deadpan.

"Of course he would say that." A growl could be heard emanating from the fox in his head.

"Calm down Kurama," Izuku thought, attempting to soothe the vixen, "he's not worth your annoyance."

Izuku continued listening as the teacher spoke again, "Oh yeah Bakugo, you plan on attending UA High School, right?"

"That national school? The best in the country."

"I hear the acceptance is low, like, really low," murmured the class staring at the blond with wide-eyes.

"That's right," replied the excitable teen, "I was second on the mock exams, which is leagues above what you extras could muster."

"Oh yeah? That's really good Bakugo…Midoriya you were also looking to attend UA, right," questioned the teacher.

Izuku could only look on as Katsuki turned quickly shouting, "what!" The bell signaling the end of class rang and Izuku's class hadn't budge, all the students intending to see how the interaction played out between the former friends.

Standing up from his desk, Katsuki headed straight for Izuku glaring the entire way. "Deku, who the hell do you think you are applying to UA," seethed the blond, his hands sparking dangerously.

"Obviously, Kacchan, I'm the person that will be a hero like All Might," Izuku mocked condescendingly, "someone has to, because the entire class knows that with your attitude you're far closer to a villan." The class could only stare, absolutely dumbstruck, that anyone would say that to the volatile blond. The sparking increased and Katsuki finally snapped swinging his hand towards Izuku.

Knowing what to expect, Izuku caught the offending limb, gripping tightly as Katsuki struggled to get free. "Listen, Gnat." Katsuki, hearing that tone, stopped his struggles as the images of when they were children came rushing back. "You seem to have forgotten my warning," heard the blond, bristling slightly at the sight before him. Izuku was looking through him as if he wasn't human, only gone were the soft green pupils that everyone had known, replaced by the ethereal green slitted eyes of a being that promised pain.

The class around them grew silent, never before had they seen the generally reserved Midoriya show his quirk, however, it looked as though Bakugo pushed all the right buttons. Izuku stood, never losing eye contact, pulling Katsuki in close before whispering in a sing song voice, "you should already know who was first on the mock exam Ba-Ku-Go." Letting go of the limb, Izuku collected his bag, and began walking towards the door. Upon reaching the threshold, he turned. "Oh? And Kacchan, it was wonderful speaking to you again," the green eyed teen said with a ridiculing tone and a Cheshire cat like grin.
