"Bewwa, are you goin to da office today?" Ness had such a cute way of speaking, and I didn't have the heart to correct her. After all she'd be starting school soon and then all her little speech impediments would be gone.

"Yes honey. Why are you asking?" I said as I was packing her lunch, to take to her daycare.

"I'm jus asking." She said with a grin. It I knew better.

"Ok Ness... I'm telling you and I am promising you that I'll be back soon, you don't have to worry. I love you!" I told her, while hugging her. I am usually back by 12 p.m. and whatever work is leftover I bring back home.

"I wuv you too!!" She responded giggling and hugging me back as tightly as I was.

In thirty minutes, we were ready to go. As soon as I dropped her off, I remembered that our company offered services related to daycare and easy access to certain schools. I found their daycare overcrowded, however the list of schools they provided, were good, slightly on the expensive side, but if I do get the position I want, then everything should fall into place.

As I arrived at the office, I immediately went to meet Leah, to discuss my change of mind relating to the marketing head position.

Leah is a good boss, and a good leader who doesn't like the "farce of formalities", her words not mine. She leads the entire sales and marketing department. She makes sure that everyone knows everyone and is fair. She has also been persuading to me become the marketing head, and help her on the big accounts, to work with her side by side. The position of marketing head has been open for a few months now and has yet to be filled by a competent person, so I've been doing most of the work as a consultant, with a lesser salary, but at least it's based on my clock.

I knocked on her door and waited, when I heard her telling me to come in.

"Bella. To what do I owe the pleasure?" She asked smiling at me.

"Good morning Leah. I'm going to cut right to it. I was hoping that I can assume the position of the marketing head?" Even though I knew Leah wanted me to take up the position, still I was nervous...

"Thank God! Isabella!!! Finally... you were already doing majority of the work without the pay. I was honestly just thinking that I might as well force you take up the position against your will, it would make things easier on you as well as me. But can I ask why the sudden change of heart?" She asked genuinely happy and excited.

"Thanks Leah for that - I decided to take you up on the offer because my sister is joining school soon. So I will have the ability to stay back a bit longer." Leah was one of the few people who knew of my sister and I decided it's best to be truthful.

"That sweetheart has already grown up enough to go to school? Wow! It's been such a long time since I last saw her. But genuinely Bella, I'm glad. Also you don't need to worry about your sister, she will be in good hands. Which reminds me - I will send you the list of schools that the company offers which she can join easily."

"Thank you Leah. That means a lot." She was a great person and a good friend.

"Nonsense Bella," she said while waving her hands dismissively. "I will take care of the rest, and you should have your designation and pay increase by the end of the week. Oh before I forget, our firm is hiring a new CFO, the guy is supposed to be good and, by good I mean really good. I was not going to tell everyone, until tomorrow, but I thought you should know since you will now be accompanying me to his meeting first thing tomorrow morning."

"Already? But I've not yet -"

"You might as well start coming to the meetings, instead of relaying your information to me. You already know everything. The only difference is that now you're an active member of any of the board or organization meetings."

"If you're sure." I said nervously.

"One hundred percent Bella. You deserve this!" She enthused.

"Thank you once against Leah... for everything."

"You're most welcome!"

The rest of the day went by relatively easy. Leah showed me a few things and shared some points regarding the upcoming meeting. Before I knew it, it was time to pick up Ness.

I decided to tell her about my changes in work timings and also wanted her to go through some schools with me, see what interests her.

"But Bewwa... that means I have less time wid you." She was a bit upset.

"But honey think about it... in a month's time you will be going to school. And you will most likely be back home by 3 or 4, depending on how long your bus takes. By then I too will be back home." I tried to explain to her.

"So dat means I wiw not stay home awone?" She asked.

"No honey. Definitely not."

"Otay. Dats fine den! Wiw I enjoy school?"

"I know you will. Because you're a smart girl. Plus you will make so many friends that I will be super jealous of you." I told her, while tickling her.

"Bewwa!!!" She couldn't control her laughter, even I after I stopped tickling her. Finally she calmed down - "Bewwa... I wuv you! You are da best sis in da whole world."

I felt my eyes tear up - "I love you too sweetheart." I can't believe mom and Phil, missed seeing their daughter grow up. She was perfect in my eyes.

After that, I went through all the points that Leah had given, while Ness read a book. She really was intelligent, and I had no doubts she would do well.

Before heading to bed, I wondered who the new CFO will be... I hadn't gotten a name, because everything was kept under wraps for now, since the guy was technically not hired, and tomorrow's meeting was technically a deciding factor, if whether he was compatible and good for the company or not. Tomorrow would be a drastic change of my schedule and Ness'.

Hopefully these new changes bring us happiness. I fell asleep with thoughts revolving around what the future holds for the both of us.
