Part Three:
The slamming of the door caught her attention and the young girl's instincts went up to the two boys with warm blankets. The look of concern on her face was clear and her gentle touch of brushing the snow off her husband showcased her worry for him. "It's getting worse out there."
"Yeah," he nodded trying not to focus on how intimately she was touching him. "But we were able to deliver supplies to every home thanks to Hookfang. Guess it pays to have a dragon who can light itself on fire."
The black dragon with the boy huffed at the insult and to show his annoyance he lightly whacked his rider before heading up the stairs to his metal slab of a bed.
"Ow," he whined rubbing the sore spot.
The girl in front laughed and shook out some of the snow that clung to his hair, "Despite bruised egos. It was an impressive idea you had to have the pathways cleared like that." She then secured the wool blanket over his shoulders, overlooking the blush creep onto his face.
He coughed trying not to pay attention to her hands and how she was touching him. He tried to get her to stop by shrugging his shoulders and rearranging the cloth and that seemed to do the trick, which made him mentally sigh in relief.
"So, I take it we're going to be stuck inside for a bit?"
He nodded. "Just for a few days. It's not like the storm is bad, it just came out of nowhere," He explained. "I mean not even Bucket's bucket predicted it and that's what has my dad so worried."
"I would be lying if I say I wasn't," she confessed. "The sea Walker Tribe rarely had snow storms like this."
Hiccup held her hands gently squeezing them. "Hey, the only difference between this one and the last is that we're not in the Great Hall."
Eira sighed her nerves away, but gave him a soft smile when the thought crossed her mind, "I guess the bright side to all this is that we get to spend some quality time together."
The flash of her smile and the way she was looking at him made Hiccup's heart beat slightly faster. Then he thought his mind was playing tricks on him as he thought he saw her lean in more towards him. He gulped and nodded. Then his nerves got the best of him as he suddenly let go of her hands and stepped around her to head for his spot new the fire pit.
The young teen sighed as she watched her husband poke at the blaze trying to keep it lively. She had thought they had moved at least a bit closed in their friendship. "But then again I could have been wrong," she thought. The feeling didn't stay long as she knew that wasn't correct. Instead, she walked over to join him by the fire settling herself a couple of feet away. She made herself comfortable by keeping warm with some of the fur blankets around her and once settled in she pulled out the small journal she carried with her and began to write.
His green eyes kept taking side glances at her, taking on how the fire's glow bounced off her skin. The way her blue eyes sparkle not and then making him believe that she was writing down something pleasant. His concentration went back to the fire but slowly it drifted back to the girl and he caught her biting her rose-pink bottom lip. He took a deep breath after seeing that. All that ended up crossing his mind was how soft those lips were when he was able to kiss them and that was way back in spring. "I have to stop thinking like this. We're friends. Friends do not think like this towards each other," he thought, but then a small voice crept through his head that told him, "but husbands think that way towards their wives." That statement made him look at Eira. A smile form as he was noticing small details. Like how her brown hair was in a simple ponytail but she would take the time to brush back a strand or two out of her eyes as she wrote. How the fire was able to show him the small freckles across her cheeks and how she slow even breaths and other movements were causing the blanket to fall off her shoulder. When it was about to fall was when he decided to help her.
Hiccup moved from his position and went to secure her blanket back around her.
She looked up at him a bit surprised but ended up smiling at him.
He smiled back and before another word was spoken of before she went back to what she was doing, he stopped her. He stopped her by lightly tracing her jawline with his callous fingers only to stop to hold her chin. Then while his green eyes were looking at her befuddled ones he swallowed any doubt he had and lean down to kiss her.
While the small peck was but a few seconds it felt longer to the young female. She sat there a bit in a daze as she looked at him when the kiss did break. There were plenty of words to say to him, yet none would come out.
The only words that did were his and those were apologetic as he realized her reaction to his sudden boldness. Quickly, he went back to his spot and only concentrated on his task of keeping the fire going.
Eira however sat there still in shock. He had done the one thing that she was too afraid of doing. The only reason why she never did was that she overthought it. She didn't know if it was appropriate given that they were still trying to figure out their friendship or if she was seeing what she wanted when she felt the small urge to kiss him. Then there was her self-doubt criticizing her, but him kissing her. Hiccup's slightly chapped lips upon hers made her realized that it wasn't as crazy as she believed it to be. Shaking the daze away she called out to him, "Hiccup."
"I'm sorry," left his mouth unable to look at her as he rambled out excuses for why and what he did. He was so lost in his apology that he didn't catch the fact that she had moved closer to him. It wasn't until he felt her hand on his arm that made him freeze. The problem was that he could not look at her.
"Hiccup," she called again and while she was gently turning his head towards her. She asked, "Will you look at me?"
All he could see was the small curl of the corner of her lips as she looked at him. If he didn't feel so down on himself his breath would have hitched at how close she was. He would be blushing if he came back to his sense and realized how she was looking at him. What he didn't predict was her closing her eyes and leaving a small brush of her lips against his. He was wide eyes as she pulled away unsure of exactly what had happened. "What? W-why would you?" It was clear that he was baffled.
Eira just giggled and settled closer to him. Her hands were back in her lap as she told him, "I just assume it's for the same reason as you."
"As me?" he squeaked and when seeing her nod he thought, "Oh, I know it's not for the same reasons as me." He was blushing and all the blood was racing towards his groin. He shuffled a bit making his blanket cover himself before she could notice. His posture was very stiff and after a while neither of them saying a word it was becoming awkward for both teens.
To say that the young lady was a bit disappointed was an understatement. She had thought that Hiccup was wanting to be close to her, yet after the kiss, she was not thinking that way. Not with the way he refused to look at her or even acknowledge her proximity towards him. She sighed. It wasn't the first time her assumptions were wrong. Her eyes caught sight of the dwindling fire and that made her decide to get up and grab some of the logs.
He watched her and cursed himself. He could tell that he screwed up, but he honestly didn't want her to know exactly how he felt about her. Yet looking at her sitting across from him as she carefully put the log into the pit made him feel horrible. He wanted to explain himself but how was he supposed to tell her that he got a hard-on from a simple kiss? He would die of embarrassment if he had to tell her the truth. Hearing her sigh again however just added more guilt to the point where he could not stand it anymore. "Eira," he called.
Before she could respond a massive wind blew open their door banging in the cold storm. The wind was strong enough to know out what little fire they had in their pit. Both jumped up and raced to shut the door. In the split second of the wind dying down they were able to get the door to close however, there was a problem.
"Damn it! The lock fucking broke!" Hiccup cursed. "Toothless! Toothless!"
The dragon raced down in a heartbeat and listen to his rider when asked to help hold the door closed with Eira.
As the two held the door, Hiccup worked on a solution on keeping it locked and secured. It wasn't pretty, the answer he came up with, but it was enough to keep the thing closed and the cold out. With it fixed the dragon went back upstairs to regain his warmth, while the teens went to reset their fire pit again. Once it was they went back to their spots before the fiasco both curling up with their blankets.
Yet as one problem was solved another unfolded. Hiccup looked across from him towards Eira and noticed that she was shivering. She was doing her best not to shiver or at least not to have him notice, but he did. It was what made him finally stand up and move closer to her. He was close enough that if the girl wanted to she could sit in his lap. She didn't, but Hiccup did do made her blush. The young male pulled her in close to him, his hands firmly caressing her waist and his wool blanket wrapped around them both. After a few moments of staying like that he asked, "Are you feeling a bit warmer?"
She could only nod too afraid that her voice would betray her by showing how nervous she was. She kept still too afraid to move as she was being held. It was even becoming apparent that she was holding her breath.
"Is there something wrong?"
She shook her head, still stiff as a board.
This making Hiccup more aware that something was wrong and he had a feeling exactly on what that was. He removed his arms from around her and scooted over enough to give her a bit of space. However, he still kept his blanket over her shoulders. Seeing her relax made him smile. "Sorry for making you uncomfortable. You just looked cold."
"I was," she said quietly. "I just-"she stopped not wanting to finish the statement, "never mind."
He wouldn't let it slide though, "no, you can tell me."
Eira kept silent not wanting to bring up any animosity between them.
A sigh left him knowing what was happening and this was only because they were living together. "Hey, we both agreed to be in this marriage, right?"
He saw her nod, "That would be correct."
"So, tell me what's wrong because this can only work if we're honest with one another and that only happens if we talk openly with each other."
"He's right," she thought, "why is that slightly annoying?" she mentally groaned, but once again nodded. She took a deep breath and told him what was wrong. "You kissed me."
He gulped and mentally said a quiet, "fuck." Then he listened to her continue.
"Then I kissed you."
He wasn't sure where she was going but he agreed that was how the events played out but what she said next baffled him.
"I'm sorry."
"What? Why are you sorry?" he asked. "I was the one who kissed you. You didn't want that clearly, yet I still kissed you. I made the mistake, so I'm sorry."
She shook her head, "But I kissed you too. What makes you think I didn't want it?"
"I-"he blinked. He didn't know anymore when realizing that, but he remembered how she reacted to the kiss. "You didn't respond to mine though."
"You surprised me," she explained. "I didn't know what to do. Not when all I know is that we're still trying to be friends."
"I thought we are friends."
"We are, but do friends kiss each other randomly?" she asked.
To which made him blurt out, "Husbands kiss their wives and that's what we are too… right?"
She nodded after gulping.
Hiccup picking up on her nerves making him ask her again, "Are you sure you want to be doing this?"
Her hand reached for his to hold as she told him the truth, "I do. I want to try to make this work, but maybe we are trying too hard?" she looked at him hoping to get a sense of how he was feeling to her answer.
He took in everything she said and chuckled a bit, "I think you're right. Maybe we are trying too hard. Maybe we're trying to please people in being a couple when we should just focus on us."
"Focus on us… as friends?" she asked.
"As friends," he agreed with a smile, but deep down he didn't know if he could. It definitely would be difficult, to say the least. Especially, when she thanked him and then leaned her head on his shoulder. Now the tables were turned and it was Hiccup who was as stiff as a board hoping he did not make a wrong move. As far as Hiccup was concern the next few days were going to be tough. Though when he took a look as she rested her head, a little smile formed when noticing her eyes were closed and she seemed relaxed as she let the fire keep her warm. It was only then that he was brave enough to try his luck again and wrap an arm around her waist. When she didn't react in a negative way he relaxed and let his cheek rest on the top of her head enjoying the small moment they shared.
Days later it took all three of them to push the snow out of the entranceway once they open the door. Then it took Toothless a couple of plasmablasts to walk through the packed snow. Which he was rewarded with praise from the two teens.
Stepping outside for the first time after being cooped up Eira took in a deep breath and sighed. "Oh, the fresh air feels so good again. I don't know how long I could have last with all the staleness from inside."
Hiccup laughed while stretching. "Hey Toothless' breath wasn't that bad throughout the whole thing."
The reptile would have knocked into him, but Eira's comment only made him a chortle.
"Who said it was Toothless that made it smell," she smirked as the rider pretend to be wounded by her words.
"Oh, my dear that was low, even for you."
She just rolled her eyes as he laughed.
"Well, the good news is that with that storm passing we might actually have a calm Snoggletog this year."
The young girl had to do a double-take at what was said, "A what this year?"
"Snoggletog," he explained but laughed at her very confused expression. "It's our annual holiday tradition. We celebrate the luck and fortune we gained the past year with our friends and families."
"Hm," she smiled, "it sounds like a wonderful holiday."
"Oh, it is! And the best part is we get a new batch of baby dragons to greet." When she asked what he meant he went on a small rant explaining what has happened last year and how the dragons leave for a few days to go hatch their eggs. It was quite fascinating for her but her next question made Hiccup feel a tad guilty.
"So are we expecting to see a few little Night Furies this year?" she smiled as the dragon playfully circled the two and she petted him happily.
"Uh, no. Unfortunately, Toothless is the only Night Fury I have ever come across. Everywhere I search and nothing. No luck. Then there is his tail. He can only fly if I tag along and the last time I made an automatic tail, he declined it."
His wording intrigued her. "Decline? Can an animal even do that?"
"If smashing my hard work is considered a decline. I would say yes."
"Oh Toothless," she cooed and scratched under his chin.
"Toothless?" he asked, "What about me?"
The dragon's face fell as if he was asking his rider if he was serious and while Eira flashed him a smile she looked at him the say way.
She then turned her attention back to the reptile and told him, "You know fella I have no doubts that there is a pretty dragon just searching for someone like you. In fact, I know that Du-"
"Hey you guys finally came out of your hiding spot!" screamed Snotlout who had the rest of the members of their gang trailing behind. Once all of them had landed they all asked about everyone's last few days being coped in their homes.
Astrid was the first one to speak her grievances. "My mother was so annoying! She kept begging me nonstop."
That caught Eira's attention. Usually in her village when an elder woman was present to you, especially if it was your mother, it meant she wanted you to marry. It was surprising since she didn't think Berk was that type of tribe. Yet as she continued to listen she would find out that she was wrong.
"She kept pushing me into hand-to-hand combat training." The Astrid mocked her mother, "Just because it's cold doesn't mean you can slack off." She huffed in annoyance wanting to punch something.
"Well, at least you didn't have to spend time with an ugly twin who I might add smells like rotten sea water," Tuffnut said trying to point a finger at his sister.
But Ruffnut would not take the insult laying down. "Didn't know you hung out with a mirror all that time bro," she smugly smiled at him and caught the laugh from a few members of the group.
That caused the two twins to start fighting, which ensued the others to start bickering as well. The only ones who weren't were Fishlegs, Hiccup, and Eira. While the others were arguing it left the three to continue the earlier discussion.
"So what did you two do during the storm?"
Both Eira and Hiccup began to blush and give each other small glances as they tried to explain to their friend the activities minus their smaller intimate moments.
"Well, uh… you know," Hiccup started the conversation rubbing the back of his neck, unable to look his friend in the eyes. "We did normal things. Nothing too exciting."
Eira quickly agreed, "The standard of eating and trying to keep the fire alive. That was a bit trickier than I thought it would be."
Hiccup nodded. "We might have a small draft in the house somewhere," he said when focusing on the situation they went through. When the dragon's playful demeanor caught the attention of the rider he interjected, "And entertaining Toothless."
She remembered the difficult task of keeping a six-ton lizard amused and chuckled.
Fishlegs however commented on the last thing Eira had said, "You know if your fire did go out you could have used each other's body heat to keep warm."
Both teens turned a beet red making the larger teen realized what might have gone in their small house. "Oh… OH! Uh, never mind forget that I asked you two," he stammered turning a light shade of pink, and as the young couple tried to correct his thinking he wouldn't listen. He was shaking his head and waving his arms in front of him trying to get them to stop. "No, guys. It's okay. I really don't need to know any more than I already do."
Both sighed. Clearly, there were not going to change Ingermen's mind. They were just lucky that it was Fishlegs and not any of the others in the group. God knows how much they would have poked fun at them for the implementations of how the two spent their days through the storm, even though they didn't do anything to warrant such thoughts.
When he gained his courage he took a look at the girl next to him. It was a somewhat relief that she looked like how he felt. "So…" he ventured, "that was…"
"Embarrassing," she finished.
"Awkward was more of the word in the mind," he said flatly. "But I can see where you stand."
She felt bad for the word choice, but it was the truth. She did feel embarrassed. Who wouldn't when someone thought you were spreading your legs for days on end? Looking at Hiccup though she could see that he was taking her words to heart. So she decided to explain. Even the words she said made herself turn a deep shade of red and after she spoke them he did too. "Hard to think that a friend only thinks of you being that type of person who spends their days naked and moaning for your husband, but I guess it is what married couples do. After all, you can only create children one way."
Before Hiccup could say anything Eira walked away joining Fishlegs and Astrid to stop the ongoing battle between the twins and somehow Snotlout.
The young dragon rider leader only stood there with his mouth gaping. He tried to speak but he only sputtered and tried to regain any brain function he had. The only way that he did was when Toothless knocked into him.
"You don't think Eira would actually want to…" he trailed off but blew the thought off when his dragon huffed at the notion. "Yeah, you'll probably be right. She wouldn't even daydream about us that way." With that put aside the two boys when over to the group to help deescalate things.
It took a while but everyone was back into a conversation. A conversation where Eira still wasn't too sure on.
"What exactly happens at this holiday?"
"Well," Fishlegs said excitedly, "the dragons go off and have their babies and-"
Eira cut him off before he continued, "Hiccup was kind enough to explain that part to me, but exactly what do us humans do during the festivities?"
Astrid mentioned her yaknog which in turn earned Tuffnut a hard punch when he told the young girl, "Yeah and you only drink that if you want to die."
While the fierce blonde was beating up the male twin the others went on to explain what everyone else did on Snoggletog.
"And the gift exchange," Fishlegs said.
Snotlout chuckled greedily as he rubbed his hands together, "Oh yes and the Snot-mister here is expecting a very new shiny and sharp toy under my helmet this year."
"Gifts?" the brunet asked.
"Oh, come on. Triple H here had to tell you about the gifts," the bloody twin exclaimed holding his nose. "I mean he's been working on yours for weeks now."
"Tuff!" Hiccup cried out wanting to pummel him just like Astrid did.
All this show did was cause the young girl to blush and be surprised. However, the surprise of the news about the gift faded as she realized that she didn't have anything to give Hiccup in return and she only had a few days left to find something.
None of her reactions went unnoticed by the other two girls in the group. Both blondes exchanged a look and Ruffnut whispered to Astrid, "I don't think she has one for Hiccup."
"So," she whispered back. "Why is that any of our concern?"
"We could help her find one," the twin offered.
Astrid rolled her eyes a bit already annoyed with the idea. "We have enough on our plates in setting up the village. We don't have time to look for someone else's present."
Ruffnut was about to give up but then got a wicked idea to convince the other girl. "Too bad it might have gotten you some bonus points on Hiccup's good side. You know helping his wife fit in more in the village since you gave her the cold shoulder."
She watched the lanky teen scream at the other twin at ruining his surprise for the new girl, who was standing a few feet away with a small panic look on her face. It caused her to sigh and cave in. she walked over to Eira and carefully grabbed her attention. "Hey," she said softly.
It caused Eira to jump and turn to face the other. "Um, hello?"
"Don't worry about having a gift for Hiccup."
"But he has one for-"
"Yeah, I know. We all know," she did her best to not sound upset by it. "But Ruff and I can take you around the plaza tomorrow a see if we can find something."
All the relief washed over Eira and she sighed too. When she composed herself she told the Hofferson, "Thank you, Astrid."
She just shrugged, "Eh, don't thank me. You may not even find anything."
Either way, Eira was extremely grateful for the help but she knew what Astrid said was the closest thing she would receive as a welcome. She then watched as the blonde warrior end all the arguing and got all of them back in order and focused. Once that happened they all seemed to agree to go help other families after the storm. This leaving Eira to be the one to stay behind since she was dragon less.
The next day Astrid shocked Hiccup by knocking on the door asking for Eira. The head of the house was going to ask what all of this was about until the person in question came to the guest's rescue.
"We're having a small girl's day. Ruffnut offered to show me the boar pit since it has been cleared out."
"And you are going why?" he question Astrid knowing full well she hated the boar pits.
"To make sure Ruff doesn't throw her into the boar pit."
His eyes widen but quickly agreed to the idea and while Eira was grabbing her satchel he told Astrid, "just make sure she doesn't hurt herself. Keep her safe."
That statement left a sour taste in her mouth. Not because he made her almost like a babysitter but because he didn't think Eira could handle herself. She was about to confront him but was stopped when the wife came back. "Are you ready to go?" with a nod she hopped on Stormfly who was excited by the word go from her rider.
Eira went up to the female rider and gulped at looking at the blue dragon, "Are you sure flying would be the best way to get to the village?"
Astrid looked over towards Hiccup who was trying to mouth out that they should walk. All this was behind Eira's back who was oblivious to what her husband was doing. She only smirked when she freaked the male teen out by saying, "I'm feeling flightier today, so hop on board." She reached a hand out for the brunet to grab and help her settle in. Hiccup just smacked his head in disbelief at the friend's behavior, but she just ignored it, and soon the two were in bound for meeting Ruffnut.
Much to Astrid's surprise, Eira did not do badly during the flight. Not to say there weren't many cases of her jumping in fright but compared to others who rode Stormfly with her the girl didn't do too badly. Astrid even smiled a bit when they landed and she got off the dragon. "She wouldn't be that bad of a flyer if she practiced more," was the thought that crossed her mind when watching the girl go over to greet the female twin.
When Astrid did walk over she caught the tail end of the conversation they were having.
"I told him we were checking out a boar pit."
"Good one!" Ruffnut was going to continue but Astrid chimed in.
"He also told me to protect you."
Both girls gave a weird look towards the other.
Eira was the one to ask, "From what?"
She shrugged, "in case Ruffnut here throws you into the pit apparently."
That got all three of them to chuckle, especially when the brunet added, "Not if she gets pushed in first."
The twin smirked as she commented, "Give it your best shot then princess."
"Don't tempt me."
"Hey," Astrid stopped the playful banter, "We can all see who could beat who after we find this gift."
Eira nodded and all of them set off towards different stalls to find the young man a gift for Snoggletog.
During their search, the young wife was feeling more and more defeated. Nothing seemed to be good enough to give her husband. Though the two girls that tagged along did give the other some great ideas they just didn't seem quite as special to what Eira wanted to give him.
"Why can't you just give him an ax and call it a day?" Ruffnut was exasperated.
Astrid rolled her eyes, "Because that's what I would want, but there is the question of why you are searching so hard." Before Eira could give the same answer she had been all day Astrid stopped her. "And don't tell us because he's my husband I won't hesitate to punch you."
Eira gulped but then took a breath as she told them the truth. "He's done a lot for me. For my father. More than you guys could even imagine."
"Why?" asked Ruffnut, "Because he married you?"
She nodded and then bowed her head almost embarrassed by the fact. She then took a seat and curled her knees close to her chest hiding her face.
The other two girls looked at each other not sure what to say, yet both were shocked and frowned when they heard a soft sob from the girl. Ruff was the one who tried to comfort her by telling her that it was okay. When the young wife shook her head not agreeing. Astrid realized something and spoke it out loud making the girl freeze. "You didn't want to get married, did you?"
"Would you?" she whispered and she only looked at them when she dried her eyes and took another breath. "But Hiccup is great. I was very lucky when he agreed to take me and these past months have been wonderful and despite the rocky start I think we have become friends." She looked at the girls and when the twin nodded to confirm it she smiled. Then she looked towards Astrid.
The blonde had a stern look on her face, which made the other nervous. That was Astrid though. She was not one to easily show her affection, that was her warrior side. She took things seriously and analyzed everything. And that is what she was doing when looking at Eira. "So how did marrying Hiccup help you?"
She sighed, "My father will no longer be Chief of the Southern Sea Walker tribe. He named a successor and once they are trained and ready they will be in charge." Before they could ask she continued, "Unfortunately, he has a wife and a son meaning no room for me."
"Couldn't you have married his son?"
Eira looked almost frightful at the suggestion but quickly covered it up. Astrid noticed though, "No, he wasn't an option. My only option was to find someone else."
"But why?" the warrior asked now invested in how all this played out. How and why she lost her chance at the other Haddock.
"Because my father still had leverage. Daughter of a Chief. He could make any deal between the tribes. The tribe has a solid treaty that would be hard to break while I could be well off. Once he isn't then I'm stuck and in my tribe, if I was still there, no one would think of marrying me. My family would have nothing to offer the other family or tribe."
"That's why he was going to different places?"
"To him, it was the only safe possibility."
While Astrid could understand the situation now, Ruffnut was confused on another part.
"So, if your dad just wanted to marry you off and you wanted to stay in your tribe wouldn't it make sense that you ask another family to keep your butt? I mean you had the advantage at the time."
Eira smiled at how each girl seemed to be looking out for her and she tried to calm Astrid and answer Ruffnut's question. "No other suitors, unfortunately. That and even you guys wouldn't want any of them."
Both girls laughed at the joke. Then Eira went to explain that her father did want the best for her and only a Chief or future Chief could provide that. A future Chief being closer to her age also. "Besides I like to think my father knew I needed to be somewhere else. Just wish I could hear from him."
"You haven't heard from him?" Astrid asked.
Eira shook her head. "Not since he left after the wedding."
That made Astrid worried. Usually, a letter would have been received and sent by now whether by boat or dragon, even despite the bad weather Berk has been having. She downplayed it though for the sake of the girl. She knew she would want the same if it was her. Then she went back to why they were out there in the first place. "So what exactly did you have in mind for Hiccup?"
She blinked and then sighed, "I'm not sure. I just know he deserves something as special as him."
"You know," Ruffnut said. "You could always," she put her hands together and spread them slowly in a 'V' shape indicating exactly what Eira could do, but the brunet was confused. Astrid wasn't and she was blushing. Ruffnut sighed and then restated. "Sex, girl. Sex. You did marry the guy so you must have done it once before. Guaranteed that he would want that. Any guy would."
Eira was beet red and she was stammering, "Oh no. No no no." there's no way that I- that he." She paused and looked towards Astrid for help. "He wouldn't really want something like that, would he?"
"Don't look at me. He's your husband."
All she could do was sit there trying to calm her racing heart.
Ruffnut caught on to her state of mind and wonder something. "You two have had sex, right?"
"Ruff!" exclaimed Astrid. "You can't just ask something like that!"
"Why? Because you don't want to hear?"
"No, because that is kind of personal. Don't you think?"
"Eh, it's just girl talk." She brushed off the question and asked her own, "So, what was it like?"
"Excuse me?" the wife blinked trying to still wrap her head around her earlier question.
"What's Hiccup like in bed?" Ruff asked more determined to get an answer.
"What's Hiccup," she gulped, "He's um considerate." She tested the word not wanting to tell either of them the truth. She didn't want either to suspect that she and Hiccup didn't consummate their marriage. It might end whatever treaty the tribes made because of them. It just wouldn't be good for anyone if that truth came out.
Unfortunately, her wording made Astrid raise an eyebrow.
"Considerate, huh?"
She nodded, "O-of course, what else would he be?"
Once again the native Berkian girls looked at each other. Neither buying what the other girl was selling. That was why the twin called her out and Eira could not lie her way out of this.
"You're a virgin aren't you?"
"What? No-" she was scared and she crumbled under their stares. "We never went further than a kiss."
"Oh."
"Knew it!"
"Please," she begged. "No one can know. If it gets out then- then-" she was hyper ventilating a bit afraid of what the consequences would be.
"Hey. It's okay," Astrid came to her side and placed a hand on her shoulder. "We won't say anything, right?" She turned to the Thorston twin who agreed with a solid nod and a promise. When she calmed down Astrid asked another personal question. "So, just a kiss then?" she did try to flash a small smirk letting her know she was teasing.
A pink blush formed on her cheeks and she did a small nod of her head.
"Well, that had to be good too right?" the twin asked.
Astrid rolled her eyes in annoyance, "Ruff…"
"What! It's not like you told me any of this."
"And you wonder why that is?" she asked in disbelief.
Eira was giggling but did satisfy her question with an answer, "You would be correct though. Hiccup isn't a bad kisser. In fact, when it does happen I rather enjoy it."
"Oooh," Ruffnut teased making Eira laugh as she was nudged. "Bet you guys did a whole lot of smooching in your hut the past few days."
Unknown to the others Astrid sighed and tried to ignore the small ache in her chest. What helped eased it was when Eira decline any of the sort happening at all during that time. Then there was Ruffnut prying again at the girl's life. "Can the Gods just get her laid already so I don't have to deal with this anymore?" she thought.
"You can't tell me you haven't thought about it with him," she urged the teen. "I mean I know I have a couple of times."
"You what?!" Both Astrid and Eira yelled, but then looked at each other once it was said. Astrid quickly looking away not wanting Eira's judgmental glare at her either.
The twin just shrugged off both of their reactions. "It's not like it hurts anyone. Besides Hiccup isn't the only guy I thought about. I mean there's Fishlegs with his size most likely could only spread eagle you, unless you're on top but even then." She continued describing the others and a few of her imaginative men.
Astrid just groaned and Eira sat there with her face red and mouth gaping.
"Though with Hiccup always tinkering I bet her would be good with his hands."
"Oh, Gods! Can we please stop talking about this?" Astrid frustratedly cried.
Eira was about to agree, but Ruffnut already did with a small condition attached. "Fine, but you'll tell me later if that's true or not."
"Uh, sure…" she was hesitant in answering but at least Ruffnut was content with her response.
Finally, all three girls were back on track to their initial plan of helping Eira finding a gift for Hiccup. The only problem was that she couldn't find one. The young wife left in disappointment from the plaza and Ruffnut volunteered to walk her back home, and for this reason, Astrid had to hurry home to help her parents set up their home for the upcoming holiday.
As the two were walking up to the young Haddock house the twin had another thought about Eira's situation and not the gift-giving one.
"You know," she started. "The way you described Hiccup had me thinking."
"About?"
"You called him considerate."
"Is that a bad thing?"
She shook her head. "Nah, it sounds like Hiccup to me honestly."
That just puzzled the poor brunet. "So, what is the problem?"
"Nothing really. It just made me realize that he may not make a move unless you do first."
"How do you know that?" she asked even though her face was once again red.
Thorston smirked, "Trust me. Besides, it's like my mother always says. If you want to catch a fish, you have to reel it in yourself." With that, she left the other on the front steps of her home wondering exactly what she should do.
The wife knew exactly what Ruffnut was hinting at but she wasn't sure if she was what she wanted or if that was what her husband wanted. If her dreams were any indication of what she wanted she had a good idea and in those dreams, Ruffnut was not wrong. Hiccup was very good with his hands and she even experienced that during their wedding night for a brief moment. But she couldn't push anything. They already talked about how they wanted to move forward in their relationship and it was slow. "Perhaps, too slow," she thought then quickly shook her head. No, the pace they had was fine, but damn did her thoughts began to swim after speaking with Astrid and Ruffnut. "Fucking girl's day," she cursed under her breath. She was about to open the front door when it open and revealed Hiccup standing there.
"Oh hey!" he beamed, "Your back!"
"I'm back," she smiled.
"How was the boar pit?"
"Filled in with snow much to Ruff's disappointment. Instead, we just walked the plaza."
She was him physically relax, "So an easy day for you then?"
"In a sense," she said still wondering why he was acting the way he was. "I was able to talk with Astrid more. I think we're getting along."
He smiled more hearing that, but then noticed how red her face was and slightly worried. "We should go inside your face is getting red from the cold." He moved out of the way so she could come in. When she did step inside she noticed that he immediately grabbed a blanket for her and set another log in the fire. After that he offered her a chair to sit in. this wasn't at all out of character for him however it was suspicious that he seemed to over compensate with his care.
He offered her something warm to drink and although she agreed to it she had to ask, "Are you okay?"
He sat down with his mug blowing on it as she asked her question which he answered, "I'm fine. Why do you ask?"
She held back her answer at first but eventually shared it as she readjusted the blanket. "I'm not sure. It seems that you're behaving differently with me." Before he could respond she added, "did I do something wrong?"
"What?" he was confused, "Of course you didn't do anything wrong." At least he was trying to be reassuring her. "What do you mean different?"
Eira just shrugged then remember what Astrid had said earlier during their outing. "You're doing more for me."
"IS that a bad thing?"
She shook her head taking a sip of her drink.
"Then… what's wrong?"
"Do you think I can't handle myself?" Her blue eyes stared into her mug when she asked. She couldn't bear to look at him in case he felt upset with what she had said.
His eyes did wide when hearing her question. He didn't want her thinking that, but then again he didn't think he was being that oblivious. All he could do was cover up the track that he made. "I just thought I would be a little nicer is all. It is getting closer to Snoggletog after all."
She sighed and smiled. "Of course that's what it was," she thought and felt silly about her original suspicion. She was after all getting a better understanding of the dragons on the island and the people. It was also getting to a point where she may even consider Fishlegs' offer on learning to fly a dragon, though that would have to wait until they returned with their hatchlings. The unannounced storm set them back and it would seem that Eira would not spend her first Snoggletog with any new babies.
Pulling her from her thoughts Hiccup asked, "So are you ready for your first holiday here on Berk?" The smile that he received on her face made him copy hers. "Well, then what are you looking forward to the most?"
"Don't know if you would consider it something to look forward to but you guys mention Astrid and her yaknog."
His eyes went wide in horror. There was no way he was going to allow her to even taste that monstrous concoction that Astrid called a drink. "Uh, that's not something you don't want to even go near. The only living soul on this island that seems to like it are the dragons."
"But she said she improved it."
"Yeah, improved just means worse in Astrid's case," he informed her. "Astrid is no way a cook, unlike yourself."
She chuckled at his words about the blonde but denied his praise about herself. "I am no cook."
He pointed to all of himself when saying, "Hey, I haven't starved yet. So you must be doing something right."
"Thank you," she said with a small chuckle in her voice. "You're not so bad yourself. I actually enjoy it when you are able to cook fish."
"They don't call me Haddock for nothing."
"Thought your name was Hiccup," she teased.
"Actually, I'm the think lanky Viking with a longish name. Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third hope and heir to the Hairy Hooligan tribe, Berk's very own dragon master." He said all of it with the very thick Viking accent and puffing out his chest trying to imitate one of his fellow villagers.
"That's a mouthful."
He sighed, "You have no idea. All my life I've been trying to live up to that name." his face fell when saying so and he learned his head into his hand. He was sitting in a shallow pond of self-doubt that he was snapped out of it when he felt a warm hand on his shoulder. When he looked up he saw his wife smiling but also a look of concern. "I'm fine," he tried his best to convince her.
"Are you sure?" when all he did was give a small nod she wasn't at all convinced. "You know I feel the same way to most days." When he raised an eyebrow in question she continued, sighing at first. "My father liked to all me the jewel of the Southern Sea Walkers. I had to be perfect at everything. Walk perfectly, sit perfectly, even breathe perfectly. Yet it was hard."
"I can imagine. I mean how can you breathe perfectly?"
She chuckled, "Not sure. Haven't perfected it yet." Then she took a calming breath. "I had to know our laws inside and out. Could never make a mistake, especially in front of the villagers. I was supposed to be an example after all and it was only harder after my mother died." Her eyes glazed over at the memory of her mother, but when Hiccup called out to her she shook the feeling away. "But I understand what you are going through living up to not only your father's but the villager's expectations are…"
"Difficult."
"Yes," she agreed and both shared a smile.
That's when Hiccup got an idea. One where he hoped it would make both of their lives a little easier. "Let's not be."
"What?"
"Perfect," he explained. "Let's not be perfect. At least not with each other in this house. Let's make a pack."
"I'm listening."
"That no matter what happens, no matter what expectations or standards anyone has of us; in these walls, it doesn't matter. That we don't have to be like that with one another. We don't need to be perfect."
The relief and laughter she had let out made Hiccup's heart flutter and copy her smile.
"So no more perfection?"
"No more. Not in this house."
"If I burn dinner?"
"Then you burn dinner and we go to the Great Hall for a meal."
She laughed and continued her questionnaire, "If the floor doesn't get swept?"
"We'll get it together eventually."
"Or the laundry doesn't get done?"
"Then we'll walk around naked."
That made her guy burst, "I don't know if I could do that one."
"Why not? You're very beautiful." Before he could redact what he said both were blushing at the compliment and he stuttered then mumbled, "What I meant- No I mean yes, you are beautiful, Eira." He couldn't look at her after saying the truth for the second time in under a minute. Though he had to admit to himself after telling her what he was thinking a weight felt a bit lifted off his chest.
For the young girl on the other hand she didn't look at the other teen either. Her face was a beet red from his words. She tucked a few loose strands of her hair behind her ear as she tried to get a confirmation of what he had said. When seeing a small nod from the corner of her eye, her blush ten folded.
That's what Hiccup saw at least and he decided they needed a new topic, so he asked, "Is the cold getting to you again?"
Now Eira could have told Hiccup a lie and agreed that it was indeed the chill in the air once more causing her cheeks to flush. Instead and more importantly she didn't want to. "No," she called softly.
He tried to look confused when asked, "Then what is it?"
"He knows damn well what it is," she thought and she couldn't bear to look at him. Not until he stood next to her and tilted her head so he could read her expressions.
And he did. He gulped nervously when looking at her. Her cheeks flushed, but it was the other details that made his heart beat faster. Her dark blue eyes were trusting when looking at him. Her lips were a light rose color still but seemed just as soft as when they were in that poorly dim cave at the cove. Her lightly freckled cheek felt warm to his touch, but there were too many factors to consider to cause that. Her breathing was heavier when he moved his other hand to rest on her slim hip. He took another breath to gain his courage for he knew he could only ask this once in a moment like this. "Would… would it be bad to kiss you right now?"
For some reason, the only word she could muster out was a quiet, "Please." And that was because all while looking at him, studying his own bright green eyes, she wanted the same thing. Her eyes fluttered closed just like his when he leaned his head closer to hers. Just when she felt his hand go to the base of her neck, she felt his lips meet hers. Then something happened during that kiss for Eira. It felt like mini sparks in her lower belly and she couldn't help but want that feeling to continue. She was so preoccupied with the sensation of their kiss that she didn't realize she let out a soft moan that only encouraged the boy.
Hiccup deepen the kiss pushing his luck with his wife and timidly brush his tongue against her bottom lip. He was a little unsure if it was the right thing to do, but damn it felt incredible to be like this with a girl, with her. To have their tongues brush against each other. To hear her soft sighs of pleasure reach his ears. To feel her hands snake their way from his waist up to his back, pulling him closer to her warm body. When they took a second to breathe the only word to cross his mind was, "damn." However, not everything stayed in his mind as Eira heard him mutter, "So much for taking things slow and being friends."
A small giggle escaped her at his words, but then she reminded him, "You are the one who said we didn't need to be perfect."
That made him nervous, "Was it not good?"
"What? No," she started but then fumbled with her words, "I mean it was great." Her eyes closed for a second while she took a breath. She then asked him, "That's how you would describe it, right?"
The corner of his lip curled when hearing her compliment him and he held her a bit tighter to him, "More than that. Definitely better than that."
She relaxed a bit in his arms hearing that.
Hiccup continued however with his face a tad red as he tested his luck. "In fact, I wouldn't mind if that happened more often."
The girl copied his blush and gave a shy nod.
"Yeah?" he asked hopefully.
"Yes," the laughter in her voice was clear, but so was her answer. "Of course Hiccup." She was smiling up at him yet what he said earlier made her think. "Are we still friends? I mean after what just happen are we still… friends?"
He blinked. He wasn't prepared to answer a question like that. Honestly, he wasn't thinking past kissing her then again that wasn't true either. He thought about something past a kiss and the bulge in his pants proved that. He just hoped she didn't realize that either.
She did. Anyone would. It was one reason why she was still waiting for a response. All she received was a blank stare as she could hear the gears turning in his head. She called out to him gaining his attention back. Once she had it she asked again. This time she looked worried.
The dragon rider sighed but smiled at her giving her some reassurance when he told her, "Of course were friends. I think we will always be friends. Just a little more now?"
"I'm glad. I like us being friends."
He felt a 'but' coming on and he was right.
"But I may like this a tad bit more."
There was a light playfulness in her voice which made him smile. "Me too," he said quietly and he wanted to kiss her again, but he held back. Then things seemed to feel a smidge awkward between them as they held one another. "So um what do we do now?"
"Oh um," she blushed and broke their embrace by turning slightly and brushing some of her hair back behind her ear again. Something Hiccup noticed that she did when she was out of her comfort zone. "I'm not too sure."
Hiccup then took a step back and had the same blush as she did as he scratched the back of his head. Something Eira noticed Hiccup would do when he was nervous. He chuckled timidly and left her be as he said, "I think I may take Toothless around the island for a flight. Check on the decoration progress of the town. Stop by Gobber and the shop."
She nodded, "Sounds like you have a lot on your plate."
He nodded, "you'll be-"
"I'll be fine," she cut him off already knowing what he was going to ask. The girl could only smile when seeing his bewildered face.
He quickly shook it off and then called over his dragon to head out the door. When the two were halfway out the young wife wish the two of them well and to be safe on their flight.
"Hey," she smiled while climbing onto the saddle. "The safest place is on Toothless."
A small grin was on her face when they took off and she closed the door. She leaned against the wood and sighed happily. The light pink blush seemed to be growing as she remembered the kiss they shared. The memory causing another sigh of happiness. She was being honest when she told him that she enjoyed the kiss. She just hoped that he was too. She didn't know if she could handle it if he was just toying with her, but she knew her husband. He wouldn't have said what he did if he wasn't honest as well. That might have been the real reason why she was so giddy and happy at the moment.
On the back of the dragon, the young rider was on what seemed to be on cloud nine, especially when he was flying through the clouds. Though dread was slowly seeping in like a small drizzle of rain. He leaned back on his saddle while the dragon glided in the air. He groaned and pushed the heels of his palms into his forehead. He muttered to himself, "Stupid. Stupid. Stupid."
Toothless warbled out a concerned whine which made Hiccup sigh.
He patted his friend's black hide and tried to ease the dragon's worry. "I'm fine Bud. I'm…" he stopped when he realized he wasn't believing his own words. "I don't know… confuse?" another whine made Hiccup open up, "We should have stayed."
The Night Fury growled out for him to correct himself.
"Fine, fine. I should have stayed." He exhaled, his thoughts clouding his mind at what had occurred. "I should have done… I don't know. I really don't. It was great," he commented. "She was… amazing. It definitely felt great, so why did I run?"
The dragon tried to answer the teen, but there was no translation for a fire-breathing lizard, unfortunately. This only left Hiccup to ponder why he did leave Eira back at the house. When he couldn't come up with one he went back over what exactly transpired between the two. As he was recalling the kiss they shared his smile grew over his face. He could only come up with one conclusion about the experience and that was that he wanted to do it more often. "Hopefully, really soon too," he thought with a grin, yet as soon as that was a thought he realized why he left the way he did. He went back to his ways of not wanting to push her and it made him nervous that he could have been. "The again," he said to himself, "she did tell me the opposite. Showed me the opposite too." That he knew was true because of the kiss. Then his body started to react to it making him realize that was another concern for why he left. He groaned. "Hopefully, she doesn't think I'm a pervert."
Despite not being directly asked Toothless let his rider know his stance on what he was griping about.
"Thanks for the confidence boost there, Bud." When Hearing the dragon's laughter the rider knew he was just amusing his friend with his problems. He also knew how foolishly he was acting. He shook it off. He sat up and patted the dragon's neck, "Let's go to Gobber's. Check up on our project, huh?"
The dragon couldn't agree more if it meant his friend would stop his moping. He turned himself toward the smithery taking them to the new destination.
Landing at the shop Hiccup caught Gobber in the middle of fixing a Terrible Terror tooth. Not an easy task when those types of dragons hate to be in close contact with Vikings and not being with their pack made them all the more unbearable. The rider didn't miss a beat and bopped in to help his mentor.
With the extra pair of hands, it was an easy operation and soon the dragon was free of its small toothache. Which they rewarded the two by trying to hiss and scratch their eyes out. The small thing was only managed to be chased out by the large Night Fury before anyone got too terrible hurt.
"Thanks for the help lad," Gobber said as he went to bandaged a small scratch on his arm.
"Yeah, Terrors can be tricky that's for sure."
The Blacksmith joked but it sounded like a bit of a sting to the teen, "Was talking to Toothless but your help was appreciated too."
Hiccup's face looked sour and he rolled his eyes. "Gee thanks." He made his way towards his desk and began to search for something. He moved his papers all over searching for his item. Coming up empty-handed he asked the one person who may have an idea where it could be. "Hey Gobber, you didn't happen to see the gift I've been working on, have you?"
"You mean that little trinket you've been fiddling with?"
"Yeah," he didn't like how he worded what was asked.
Gobber instead moved on to yell at Grump for letting the forge die down and then went to work on some of the weapons some Vikings asked to spruce up as gifts for the upcoming holiday.
"Gobber?" Hiccup asked annoyed.
"Huh?" Oh your gift," he said and pondered exactly what it was that the young lad was working on.
"Yes, my gift. The gift I was planning to give to Eira. Eira's gift."
"Oh! That gift! Oh…" the black smith sounded worried now making Hiccup worried.
"What do you mean by 'oh'?"
"Uh, nothing," he said scratching his head a bit sheepishly as he explained what happens. "I didn't feel comfortable leaving it sit out in the open. A lot of things have sticky fingers here."
"Okay… then where is it?"
"I put it in my secret hidden chest," he explained. Hiccup once again asked where that was making Gobber go and grab a medium size chest and hand it to the lad, which he was grateful for. That was until he set the wooden case down and tried to open it. Then he struggled to unlock it.
"Uh Gobber," he started, "It's not opening."
He nodded trying to avoid eye contact with the lad. "Yeah, about that. It seems that when I went to close the thing the key happened to break off. Been trying to get the thing open since."
Hiccup groaned and banged his head on the chest repeatedly yet light enough not to hurt himself.
"I'm sorry, lad," he apologized. "I thought I was doing you a favor."
He sighed with his eyes closed. "I know, it's just… do you know how long it took me to gather the materials and then make it? And all for it to be stuck in a box." He tried to pry it open slightly hoping it wasn't a broken lock.
Unfortunately, it was. "Are you sure you can't break the lock open?"
Gobber shook his head. "Like I said been trying whenever I could. I can give it a whirl for you if you give me a second."
Hiccup shook his head. "No, I know you are busy with other things. I got this."
The one-arm Viking nodded and before going back to his work he mentioned, "If you need any help just yell."
"Hm," was all the acknowledgment the teen gave as he set off to work on his now newly acquired puzzle.
Hours later Hiccup was nowhere near to getting the lock close to open. Whatever lock Gobber had on the chest the key was stuck in there jamming the mechanism. It was to the point where the young Haddock almost order Toothless to blast the wretched thing open. He held back from that only because he was fearful that it would destroy what was inside. He tried out of desperation to brute strength the thing open only to fail again. With the latest attempt a failure he tossed the box across the room not only almost hitting Toothless but Grump as well.
Both dragons did not take kindly to the display and none more than Grump. He showed it too. He showed it by taking his large bulge of a tail and smashing the wooden cube.
Hiccup looked horrified but so did Gobber as he ran up to his dragon screeching. Following the other Hiccup rounded up near the smash pieces hoping upon hope that his gift was still intact as well. Shuffling through he found it and sighed in relief, "Oh thank the Gods it's not broken."
"Lucky for you," Gobber said dryly.
"Sorry," the teen said. He was going to offer to help, but the other Viking waved him off not seeming too upset as he was when seeing the broken chest. Even though he didn't seem worried anymore the apprentice did promise to find him another to make up for the broken one. The only condition was that Hiccup had to take his gift for his wife to another location until Snoggletog arrived, which he agreed to.
Days later the morning sun was barely waking up over the horizon when the sleeping maiden in bed felt a bit of extra weight on her. She wiggled a bit thinking nothing of it until whatever weight was on her snaked its way a bit more around her, holding her a tad tighter. That was when she began to wake up more and tried to figure out what was on her. She reached for it and noticed that it was warm and a bit squishy. She also took note of how long it was and it felt like it was connected to something behind her. She finally opened her eyes to see that it was an arm around her waist. Looking back behind her she found out exactly whose arm it belonged to and a small blush appeared on her cheeks. Carefully, she removed Hiccup's arm off her waist and back over on his side of the bed. She only froze when hearing him groan or mutter in his sleep. When confident that he would not wake up she moved off the bed and grabbed her robe to leave the bedroom and head into the main portion of their home.
The blush never left the girl's face as she prepared a kettle of tea over their fire pit. Waiting for her warm drink she readjusted her robe closer to her and then took the fire poker to reignite some of the embers. She sighed as she took a seat and stared at the warm coals. She couldn't understand why she acted the way she did in bed but the way Hiccup looked as he slept. He was so at peace until she moved him away from her. Although she didn't understand what he said she still could tell he was displeased with the move. Maybe it was the guilt she felt but she didn't know if that was the right choice either. Now she was just sitting there pondering on what she could do about it. All she could come up with was just to ignore what had happened and continue the day like normal.
She was lost in her thoughts that she didn't hear the creaking of the wooden floorboards until a large shadow caught her attention and it made her jump. She placed a hand over her heart and calmed down when realizing who it was. "Toothless. Thank goodness it is only you," she breathed. Then a chuckled escaped her when the Night Fury went up to nudge her side a bit. When he warbled quietly she smiled, "I'm good, fella. Thank you."
He placed his head on her lap giving off a soft growl making her lightly start to rub her fingertips along his scales. She began to softly hum. This caused him to close his green cat-like eyes and enjoy the treatment she was giving. He only peeked open an eye when hearing the bedroom door open. When seeing it was his rider he went back to enjoying the menstruation of the girl's hands. He didn't pay attention to the conversation the humans were having until he heard his name.
"Toothless, if you wanted a ride you could have woken me up instead of Eira."
The dragon gave the male a confused look and then looked at the girl who only gave a sheepish smile. He sat up staring at the female for a moment before huffing off. He was not in the mood anymore for scratches if he was going to be blamed for things he wasn't a cause of. The only comfort he received was when his rider stated that he was going to give him his Snoggletog gift now. That he looked forward towards. Last year he was happy to get a beautiful buffet of trout that he could stuff his face in, then a long relaxing flight with his best friend.
The cold air and peaceful sky were something the duo always looked forward towards. Being the only two out in the open was something else and he rather enjoyed the small trick they would pull. His favorite being when they free fall until he caught him. They spent the whole morning together and it was a great way to spend the first part of the human holiday.
When they did land they were at the Chief's house, Hiccup wanting to pick up his wife's present. He did after all worked very hard on it. When he did he spent some time with his father and received some goodies from the Viking as well. Thankfully it was nothing embarrassing except for the conversation between them.
"How's your first Snoggletog with the misses, son?"
Hiccup on the other hand caught on quickly that there was more to this small talk that his father was trying to strike up. So without missing a beat he asked, "What do you really want to ask dad?"
Stoick was a bit taken back and tried to reflect the suspicion but his son wasn't convinced and waited for an answer. He sighed and crumbled. "Never were the one to hide anything from. There's been some talk in the village."
"Talked?" Seeing his father's confirmation he asked, "About what?"
"You and your wife," he answered.
Hiccup's interest was piqued, but he was very cautious now. He allowed his father to continue.
"If you and young Eira can provide certain aspects for the village."
Hiccup was now just confused, "Provide what? Trade? Because I'm busy with a lot of other things and Eira… well, she's still figuring out where she can fit in around here. Hard to get people to trust you when you show up all of the sudden."
The chief stopped him, "No, no. nothing like that. It's um something else."
"What is it then?"
Stoick now had a nervous stance his son was famous for as he coughed and mumbled out, "Kids."
"Provide kids with what?" Hiccup asked slightly confused until it dawned on him and he turned a bright red. "Oh… Oh no… I'm not- we're not- There's no way-"
"Exactly," Stoick agreed, "And that' is what I've been telling them."
The younger Haddock nodded for his dad's support but he also thought, "Can you also tell them to keep their noses in their own damn business?" Something else circled the teen's mind though, "You're not expecting anything are you?"
The man became serious as he told his son, "Someday. Maybe when I retire and you're Chief. It would be nice to have the house with kid's laughter again. But as of now… no. You two are young yourselves, enjoy it."
Hiccup sighed in relief. At least that's one thing he wasn't going to be pressured into. He becoming Chief would be another topic for a different day. He didn't feel like getting into another argument on what he was planning with his life when Snoggletog is something to enjoy after all. When collecting himself he did mention, "Speaking of enjoying… I want to give this to Eira." He held up a cloth-wrapped gift for her.
Taking a look at it the father said, "She's going to love it."
"I hope so. I really do."
With all that the Night Fury rider promised his father that they would be coming later to the Great Hall to celebrate the holiday. Both now hoping to avoid any more awkward discussions.
The next stop for the duo was the Academy. It was the place where all his friends agreed to meet up. When arriving everyone was there except for one.
"Where's Astrid?"
She got upset when we refused to try her yaknog," Eira explained.
"All but Fishlegs," Tuffnut snickered.
Eira frowned and let her husband know how it happened, "He couldn't find an excuse not to drink it." To make it more evident Hiccup and Toothless then heard the larger Viking upchucking in one of the Academy's barrels.
The two cringed when the teen went to speak of how well he was only to interrupt himself with another session of puking. "Okay, well Happy Snoggletog everyone."
They all greeted him back while Fishlegs spent some intimate time with a poor barrel. The rest were getting updated on the plan of retrieving any new hatchlings from the dragon nursery.
"So Snotlout is going to go with Astrid and Fishlegs," the mention dragon rider hurled at the drop of his name again. "If he recovers in time." Hiccup scrunched his face trying not to smell or hear the vomit. "Since some of the ice has broken up and a boat is available as travel."
Snotlout on the other hand groaned over it. "Arg, why am I stuck with Barflegs during this stupid boat trip?"
"Well, you know Snotlout I could always get someone else to cover your position."
The Jorgenson quickly reacted to that suggestion aggressively by pulling Hiccup by his collar and sternly whispered, "Don't you dare replace me on this. I need this. I want to be the first to see those babies or so help you."
Hiccup chuckled at his cousin and only agreed to keep him on board. When he was released he backed up and stood next to Eira, who was immediately concern.
"Are you alright?"
He nodded and smiled as he quietly said, "I knew he still wanted to go. He's been talking nonstop about Hookfang's offspring since the dragon left."
Eira smiled at the new information, "Ah I see." She then held onto his hand and her smile grew a bit when she felt his own squeezed back lightly. The only thing that ruined their small moment was the sound of Fishlegs. Concern Eira did ask, "Is he going to be okay?"
"I'm going to take him home and hope that helps, but now you see why we don't trust the yaknog."
"Noted," she said and watched as her husband helped their poor friend.
As everyone went to go back to the village to prepare for the voyage or to bring a friend home Hiccup reminded them all, "Don't forget to meet in the Hall later on. We have a lot to celebrate for."
Of course, they did after Hiccup made sure the boat had made a safe passage past the veil. He returned home to walk to the Great Hall with his wife, along with exchanging their Snoggletog gifts.
Entering the home he was pleasantly surprised to see her in a beautiful outfit. One that he didn't know that she owned. It was a maroon red with a nice yellow design at the hem along with a bit of dark brown fur that lined the ends of her long sleeves and the bottom of her dress. She had a yellow ribbon tied into her hair that matched the small design in the gown. The last part was the sash she was tying around her waist as he walked in. Needless to say, his heart was beating harder and a soft, "Wow," escaped him.
She flashed him a smile when noticing he was home and asked, "How did everything go?"
It took a second to regain brain function again, but he did with a smile, "Went off without a hitch surprisingly." He walked more into the house and beside her as he continued talking. "They should be back in a couple of days and hopefully with all the hatchlings."
"Snotlout seemed excited about it," she commented remembering how he was earlier in the day.
"Oh, you have no idea. Snotlout acts like he is all this tough Viking but deep down he loves Hookfang. He would do anything for his dragon."
"Kind of like you and Toothless."
"Yeah," his smile not disappearing as he ran his hand along Toothless' scales as the dragon went past them. She did the same which made him take notice of what she was wearing and how well she looked in it. He wanted to compliment her but instead, it sounded more of a question. "So someone decided to get dressed up."
She took a glance down a little self-conscious, "Oh, well you did say it was a celebration."
Hiccup noticed a quickly backtracked, "It is and you look great. Wonderful even, but the only people who dress up are usually Gobber and that's just some antlers and bells. Nothing like you."
"Hm," she said still feeling a bit doubtful of her choice of clothing. "In my old village, I always had to look my best whether it was a celebration or event. Part of being the Jewel of the Sea Walkers." She played with the ends of her sleeves debating with herself. She mumbled, "I should go change."
Before she could move back towards the bedroom he gently held her arm stopping her. "Wait… don't do that." She looked at him with her dark blue eyes that made his mouth dry. "You don't need to change. If you feel like dressing up then by all means don't let anyone stop you. Even me."
"No?"
He shook his head slowly almost mesmerized by her. By some miracle, he took the opportunity to remember to give her his gift. "In fact, I may have something for you to wear with it."
"You do?" she asked.
Again, all he could do as a response was nod. He held up a finger telling her to give him a moment as he walked away to retrieve the gift. He came back with a small cloth that was wrapped around something and had a thin red string tying it together. He held it out to her and with a smile told the girl, "Happy Snoggletog Eira."
She gently took it from him and carefully open the item. She did this with a joyous look on her face but when it was finally open she gasped which in turn made him beamed. Eira held in her hands a simple silver necklace with a small oval amber pendant. "How in Odin's name did you-"
"I made it," he said. "I never gave you anything on our wedding day as a gift. Better late than never."
She didn't know what to say. It was such a beautiful item and she honestly didn't think she deserved it. She was about to tell him that but he had another idea. He had her turn around and asked her to move her hair out of the way as he secured the piece of the jewelry in place. She held the amber pendant in between her fingers feeling the new eight that she wore. She nervously asked him, "How does it look?"
He grinned, "Beautiful." Which caused her to blush and that caused him to copy her. He stuck to what he said though and repeated it, "You look beautiful." He tested his luck and took a step closer and then pulling her closer. After a deep breath, he went to lean down to kiss her. He was stopped though and he blinked.
"I have something for you as well," she pulled away and disappeared leaving him by himself for a few moments.
He looked at his best friend and asked him, "Did you know about this?"
The dragon seemed to shrug and went over to his basket that had a trout head or two that he could enjoy.
When Eira returned she held out a present that was rectangle in shape and covered in a cloth as well. Handing it to Hiccup she said, "I hope you like it."
"You know you didn't have to get me anything. Really."
"Neither did you, but here we are."
He smirked now when he lost, "Fair enough," He unwrapped the gift, and when he did he felt the new leather binding of a book more specifically a "Journal?" She nodded as he inspected it. He took a note of the small design details in each corner of the leather cover embroider into it. It was a clear indication that she had put some thought and time into the book. When flipping through it he thought he would find blank pages instead they were written in. That confused him until he dove deeper into the pages and realized the words were in his handwriting. One page confirmed that this was indeed one of his journals. "This is the first picture I ever drew of Toothless." His fingers carefully went over the charcoal drawing. "Is this my journal?"
Again she nodded and explained, "I found it while straightening up your desk one day. It looked in bad shape and thought it could use a small touch-up."
"You call this a small touch-up?"
Eira's face fell a bit. She didn't think he would be mad at her for doing something so small. Then again it was something personal of his and maybe it was something she shouldn't have touch. So to make him less angry she told him, "All the pages are still there and in order." That didn't seem to work as he continued to flip through the notebook. She stood there with her head bowed and her hands folded in front of her waiting to be scolded.
"Eira this is…" he said trying to come up with the words. "This is… Amazing." Hiccup then surprised her when he wrapped her arms tightly around her and happily said, "Thank you. This is a really great gift."
She finally relaxed when hearing that and hugged her husband back. When the hug finally broke she said with a smile, "Happy Snuggletug Hiccup."
Her pronunciation made him laugh and correct her, "Snoggletog."
"What did I say?"
He chuckled and shook his head, "Don't worry about it." He walked away to go put his journal back where it belonged and when he came back he asked, "Are you ready to go to the Great Hall to celebrate?"
"As long as you are."
He then offered an arm for her to hold and said in a Viking accent that made her giggle, "Then after you, my lady." She happily took hold and had him lead them to the celebration.
Even though the Hall was dragon-less due to the late storm it didn't mean that the Vikings partied any less. The music was joyous and bouncy and every conversation was filled with cheer. The food was wonderful and no one passed anything up, except the yaknog. No one touched that. Well, almost no one, some of the older dragons that didn't migrate enjoyed the drink. Overall, the festivities were going just as the Chief had hope for. This also meant that the Chief was going to squeeze one lesson with his son and that was making a small round of conversation with their fellow Vikings during a happy gathering.
Hiccup sighed annoyance, but with Eira giving him an encouraging smile. He figured he could do this one thing for his father.
Off he went into the sea of the crowd leaving Eira with the twins, but soon they were called away and she stood there alone. She made a few pleasantries with some of the folks but that didn't last long as they were quickly interested in something else. That only left Eira standing there enjoying the different scenes as they unfolded. The one scene she enjoyed she enjoyed was watching the few people taking up space in the middle of the Hall to dance.
"You know we can join them if you would like?"
She jumped and almost screeched at the voice coming up from behind her. Turning around she wanted to clock the person who scared her but held back only to lightly shove them. "Hiccup why would you do that?!"
He chuckled regaining his balance rather quickly as he apologized. "Didn't mean to scare you. It's just you looked like you wanted to join in on the fun."
She threw a glance over her shoulder at the dancers wanting to join them, but one thing stopped her and made her decline. She sighed longingly and smiled at him, "No, it's okay. I'm okay not in the mood."
He didn't buy that for a second. He saw the way she was looking at the dance floor. The way she was slightly swaying to the music. She looked the same way as she did at their wedding feast. "Okay, out with it."
"What do you mean?"
"I know you want to dance, so what's the real issue?"
She gulped and darted her eyes around trying to think of an excuse. She thought about telling him she didn't want to, but then she remembered what he said towards her at the house and that gave her some courage. "I don't know this dance."
He gave a small smile, "Heh, that's okay we can wait for the next one then."
"No, Hiccup you don't," she sighed while he looked confused, "I don't know how to dance." When he gave her a confused look she sighed sadly. "No one has ever asked me to dance. At least not since I was a little girl and even then I only stood on my father's feet."
It was clear she was upset when admitting this but Hiccup was smiling at her. None of what she said was anything to be embarrassed about and he was going to let her know, "Hey, that's okay. You can always stand on my feet to dance and the best part," he waved her to get closer so he could whisper something in her ear, "only one of them is going to hurt later from it."
She pulled away and it took a bit to register what he said. When she did she laughed, "Did you just make a missing leg joke?"
He nodded but did not drop the earlier conversation, "So do you care to dance with me?"
She was a bit hesitant and he could see it.
"Okay then," he took her hand, "come with me." He pulled her along to an area in the Great Hall where there were almost no people. "What if we danced over here away from other's eyes?"
Looking around he was indeed right when he said no one was around, but she was still uncertain. "I don't know. I still don't think I can."
"No one's going to see," he encouraged. "The only one who will is me and the truth is I'm no dancer myself. I do only have one foot, remember?" She gave him a soft giggle and he continued his encouraging words, "Besides everyone out there is already half-drunk and doing the moves all wrong."
"Then how can they-"
"Because they are having fun Eira," he explained. "That's what it is all about. Having fun and enjoying the music." When she thought about his words he asked one more time, "So, what do you say?" He held both his hands out towards her.
She looked at his hands and carefully thought about the offer. It took a moment and then flashed the boy a smile as she grabbed both his hands and said, "Then teach me how to dance Mr. Haddock."
"With pleasure… Mrs. Haddock," he smirked and took the time to get them in a position of a stance. With a few minor corrections, Hiccup began to explain some of the techniques, spins, and footing in the current dance. That portion was a bit difficult for them as they tried to execute it. Every time they tried to spin or turn Eira would step on his foot or either kick her own on his metal one.
She cringed, but not at the pain, but at the mistakes, she kept repeating.
It was when she was apologizing again after another missed turn that Hiccup figured out what her problem was. "Eira," he called. She tried to move again so he called her name again, "Eira just stopped for a second." He moved his hands on her shoulders to get her to do so.
The young girl refused to look anywhere else but the floor and her feet, "I'm sorry."
"Take a breath," he encouraged. "You're fine. You're just doing only one thing wrong."
"I am?"
He nodded and then asked, "Are you having fun?"
She sighed, "I'm messing up."
"But are you having fun?" he asked again. "Are you enjoying yourself?"
With sadness in her eyes and a slow head shake she told him, "It's more difficult than I thought."
He gave her another kind smile, "That's because you're not having fun. Looking just forget everything we just did. Keep your eyes on me and just-" he pulled her in close so his hands were on her hips and hers upon his shoulders, "dance."
A small gasp left her when he pulled her in close but when she caught sight of his green eyes staring at her she just nodded. He then slowly started to sway both of them.
It was halfway in that the husband made his wife notice how well she was doing. It was a tad shocking to her and when she went to look down he stopped her. He gently kept her chin up and told her not to worry and to enjoy the moment. To make his point more clear he spun her out and pulled her back in. She laughed unbelievable realizing that they were able to do a maneuver like that. However, it also proved his point in the matter. All that Eira needed to do was to have fun.
The dance wasn't in time with anyone else or even with the music that was being played. That didn't matter to them. All that matter was how they were having fun with one another. Right before the music did finish Hiccup decided to do the same move he had done earlier with Eira. He spun her out and then spun her back in, but to add a bit of extra flair, he held her closer than normal and lifted her a bit as he spun each other around.
When she was stationary again she was out of breath. However, the grin would not fade as she looked at the man holding her. All that was going through her head was how lucky she truly was. Not only did the boy in front of her give her a gift this holiday, which he didn't have to do, but he went beyond that and made her feel included and help her do something as trivial as a simple dance. It was most likely why she didn't think about what she was doing when leaning up and pressing her lips to his.
Hiccup was stunned at first. He had no idea that when teaching Eira to dance he was going to receive a kiss from her. It also didn't take him long to reciprocate it though. So there the two teens were, kissing each other just barely out of sight from other members of the tribe until slowly the kiss forming was more than just a kiss.
Gobber was having a merry old time enjoying his Snoggletog evening. Like drinking his mead and having conversations with his best friend. He didn't expect to catch his apprentice heavily making out with his young wife. When he confirmed what he said he spitted his drink out.
"Gobber!" Stoick cried shaking off any liquid that may have got on him. "What in bloody Hel are you thinking?!"
The blacksmith wiped his face with his arm and nudged the man to look in the same direction as he was.
When Stoick did his eyes went wide at the sight and even choked on his drink at the scene.
"Don't think you have to worry about grandchildren, huh Chief?"
He didn't answer the man as he stalked over to where the young couple was. When the father was close enough he coughed into his hand hoping to grab their attention. It didn't work as the couple continued to be focused on each other. He then called his son's name hoping that would work. When it didn't he said it louder until it felt like he screamed. That made the teens jump and separate from one another. Both were undeniably a bright red.
Hiccup scratched the back of his head when addressing his dad. "Is there um something you needed dad?"
The man nodded, embarrassed himself, "Uh, yes there is. Don't you think you two would be more comfortable doing that type of activity at your home?" to drive the point of how physical the two were he added, "Younglings are running around."
"Uh, yes. Of course," Hiccup agreed but he also tried to excuse their actions. "We were uh…" he looked for help from Eira, but she looked like a frightened doe and just shook her head towards him. "Yeah, we are just going to go." He took the girl's hand and led them away from the area and quietly. Only a few eyes were upon them as they did.
The two didn't go home though. At least not quite yet. Eira's pace caused Hiccup to slow down and when he turned to see what the holdup was he caught her looking around seeing all the lights and decorations. He was a bit concern but not much because of the small smile on her face. "Are you okay?"
She was still looking around and wistfully told him, "We don't usually decorate like this in the Sea Walker tribe,"
"No?"
She shook her head, "My father believed that it drew too much attention."
The young rider nodded in understanding. "Dragon raids I'm assuming."
She in turn nodded, "After my mother and-" she stopped herself after realizing she had touched her shoulder. "It was a lot for him. For the village. It was best to keep things hidden. To keep everyone safe. To keep me safe."
"He seemed to care a lot about you."
She sighed at Hiccup's words. She knew he was trying to keep her smiling but it was hard when she knew the truth. It could have been all the months she had been living in her new tribe, but she didn't want to hide the truth anymore. "I know my father loves me, but as you know, a Chief takes care of his people first."
Hiccup was in disbelief when hearing that. So much so that he tried to remind her, "He wasn't thinking of the village when he offered the marriage treaty between us."
A small number of tears formed in her eyes that she held back with a smile towards him, "Wasn't he?"
It made him rethink the conversations that he had with her father, but as he was thinking about those times he was still certain about his previous statement. Then he heard Eira's wavering voice speak again.
"It's the only thing that makes sense."
"What do you mean?"
"I haven't heard from him since our wedding. I've written I don't know how many times and nothing has come back." She wiped her eyes before any of her tears did slip. "It is the only reason I can come up with that he…" he paused, "that the village…" she paused again trying not to break down. It was only when she felt Hiccup's hands squeeze hers did she have the strength to hold herself back.
"Hey… you need to remember that you are sending a letter by ship, not by a dragon. The storms have been crazy this year and it's been more difficult for those boats to actually sail. And as far as we can tell the ice around Berk has been difficult to break up that trade ships aren't coming here. And we were just lucky to have Toothless to break up the ice for our own to set sail to collect the hatchlings."
A sigh escaped her as she calmed down from his explanation but she had doubt in her voice. "I guess you're right."
He flashed her a grin and added, "I bet a stack of your father's letters are just waiting on a ship waiting to be handed to you." He saw her flash a quick smile but noticed that it fell just as fast. He gave a long sigh while looking at her. He rubbed her upper arms and said to her, "Eira I don't know if you know but I had a chance to talk to your dad before we even got married. Before we met." She didn't believe him but he told her it was true, "He had me really think about marrying you and I don't think a father who cares about his daughter does that. He didn't just throw you to me for the betterment of a village." He saw her sad face and again he sighed. He wasn't putting his words right and he desperately wanted to for her. "What I am trying to say Eira is that Illfuss loves you. He also cares about you and others despite first impressions of him saying otherwise."
She gave a light chuckle at that. She looked at him, his eyes just as bright as ever, and again he was trying to sway confidence inside her and stay on the positive side.
"So, no more worrying. It is Snoggletog after all one of our merriest holidays."
"Is it?"
He nodded and held her hand, "It is, so why not be merry. What would you like to do? What would keep that smile on your face?" he added.
With the charm he was spilling towards her she would be surprised if her smile did leave. Not only that but a blush also started to creep its way towards her cheeks when thinking of one of the things that was making her happy that night. She shook those thoughts away quickly. He didn't need to be given the chance to ask her what was really on her mind. Instead, she asked him, "Would you mind accompany me on a stroll through the plaza? I wouldn't mind seeing more of the decorations."
Immediately he offered her his arm to hold, which she happily took, and then he asked, "Which way my dear?"
"Wherever the wind takes us."
He smiled at the comment and both began their stroll around the village. Both enjoying the last few hours they had that day with each other. Both happy that they could make one another smile the rest of the holiday season.
Finally, after months of horrible winter storms and freezing nights of snow and sleet, there was warmth at the end of this frozen tunnel. The chief of Berk and the elder Gothi announced that the ice was breaking up and spring was about to snake its way back to them. Everyone seemed thrilled at the news. All, but one.
"What has you in such a grumpy mod?" Eira asked as she snuck Toothless a treat while her husband was busy groaning and pouting at his desk.
"Thawfest…" was the only word that went past his lips.
She was confused, "Another tradition thing?"
He nodded, "We give thanks to Freya by showing off our strength in small tournaments. Proving our worth for the year. Or like everyone likes to call it, the Thawfest Games."
"That sounds intriguing, fun actually."
"Only fun if you're watching," he snark, "but if you're in it… Get ready to be out beat by a Jorgenson who likes to rub it in your face. Especially, if you are always dead last and never won."
That was a bit shocking, "you are telling me you never even scored a point. Not one?"
Her question made him exhale, "Well, no." He answered, "Last year I actually tied with Snotlout, but that's because we added dragons and then I let him win in the final race."
His kind heart made her smile, but his words made her think. "Well, maybe they will add the dragons again this year. Then you could show up a Jorgensen."
Hiccup was happy to hear her words of encouragement but he shook his head. "No, my father said they were not going to be added this time around. And you know I would be fine losing to Snotlout if he just didn't rub it in my face!" he flung his arms around to emphasize his words until he dropped them to his side and then dropped his head on the desk.
Eira went over to him and put her hands on his shoulders. She squeezed his tense muscles while trying to keep him in a positive mood. "Well, even if you do lose miserably and he rubs it in everyone's face. You will have something that he can't take home with him."
That intrigued him, "Oh? What's that?"
She smirked and leaned in to whisper in his ear, "A wife."
With that Hiccup's face was deep red but he couldn't agree more with that statement as his head rapidly bobbed up and down.
Toothless added to the conversation in his dragon way, by licking the side of his rider's face.
This only causing the teen to laugh and be slightly disgusted at the same time. Especially when Eira commented that his once shaggy hair was sticking straight up.
"Oh, come on Bud! It's going to take forever to get this out," he said all that through his smile. This allowed the Night fury to know he wasn't all too upset.
"Your hair looks like a sea urchin," she giggled.
He groaned and began trying to fix his impromptu porcupine-style head of hair. It was however not working making Hiccup groan more.
"Here," Eira said stopping Hiccup's flaring hands from trying to pull out his hardened hair. "Come downstairs. I might have something that can help."
He only agreed because he was too tired of handling the small annoyances himself today.
When making it downstairs Eira sat Hiccup in a chair and then proceeded to grab their largest bowl and filled it with some water. She also grabbed a couple of rags to help. She then instructed him to lean his head back. Once he did she began her work. Lightly Eira's fingers were massaging Hiccup's scalp. Her hands dipping into the bowl of water whenever the hair became too sticky and hard to work through.
As she worked her magic Hiccup couldn't help but close his eyes and relaxed. It felt amazing. Almost too amazing to the point where her touch was causing his mind to wander. It wandered to places that he had been trying to hide for months from her, though today it seemed that it slipped his mind as he slowly let out soft sighs and whispers of moans. He only woke up from the trance when she abruptly stopped and began drying his hair with a rag. It almost stopped his heart, but instead, he let out a small yelp.
Eira stopped in a panic and asked worried, "What's wrong? Did I hurt you?"
"What? No," he breathed calming down a bit, "I was just startled that's all."
"Oh," she too was calming down. When both were calm enough she asked, "Do you want me to finish?"
"Uh, no," he answered. "I think I can take it from here." He supported his claim by beginning to ruffle his hair and when he was done he asked, "Better?"
She held in a giggle, for now, the teen's hair looked like a fluffy sheep, though it was better than the straight-up spikes. She did hold up a finger and ran to get something to help.
He was curious, but she was not long in her departure and she brought Toothless along when she returned. He smiled when his best friend went up to him to sniff his new hairdo. He did however hold him back when he tried to lick him once more.
Both teens laughed, but it was Eira who ultimately got the dragon to back away with a toss of an apple.
"I thought we decided not to give him so many apples anymore."
"Oh relax," she chimed going behind him and running her fingers through his auburn strands once more. "It's his first one," she paused, "this afternoon at least."
He would have chuckled or complained but whatever she was doing to his head put him in a tranquil state. All he could do was relax and enjoy it. When she stopped he almost whined.
Eira was very proud of the work that she did on his head and exclaimed, "There now everyone will be able to see your pretty freckled face."
"Pretty?"
Her cheeks turned bright pink as she realized her slip up on her words and she tried to recovered, "I-I well it's nicely structured. It's a shame that your hair hides it."
"Is that why you pulled some of it back?" he smirked. A tad bit of him enjoying her being flushed.
She could not answer him instead she decided to change the subject. "So, what else does this Thawfest entail?"
"Besides pain and misery?"
She only nodded and making him sigh.
"I guess it's not all that bad," he trailed off but continued to remember everything that added to the Thawfest Games. He crumbled and groaned. "Arg! I really don't want to do this, this year!" he flopped his head back down on the table.
Eira gave him a sympathetic look and tried once more to ease her husband. "Maybe you could tell your father that you would rather show me around during the games? It is my first time after all and I really don't know what is going on."
His head slowly popped up and his eyes were full of hope. He immediately hopped out of his seat and held her by her shoulders and ecstatically exclaimed, "Eira I could kiss you!" He didn't. Instead, he ran out of the house with a very bright red flabbergasted teen standing there only to watch him and his dragon leaving.
Finding out that his father was at the Academy, Hiccup rushed over to hopefully be let go of his duties of representing the Haddocks at this year's Thawfest. Landing gracefully with Toothless the two notice that his father was talking to the other teens as well. This shouldn't have surprised him but it did.
"Ah, there you are son," Stoick called, "I was about to let Astrid go fetch you if you weren't here any sooner."
Hiccup could only nod at the statement but he had to ask, "Why are we all gathered here exactly?"
"I have some news about the Thawfest Games."
"Oh speaking of the games dad I was wondering…" he was cut off and a bit annoyed.
"In a moment son, this is important for the year's festivities."
"Yeah, but dad I was wondering if-" he was cut off again. This time by Snotlout who did strike a chord with the rider.
"Don't try to weasel your way out of a competition Haddock. Even though we already know the winner. Am I right ladies?" he did his best to flirt with Astrid and Ruffnut, but the two girls just rolled their eyes.
Ruffnut also commented, "Don't make me barf."
"Enough," Stoick said making all six stand at attention. "I'm here to tell you that none of you will be in the games this year." The only one who was displeased and let it known was Snotlout, yet the Chief continued, "Instead, each of you will be training one of our future Vikings to compete in the games. They will be at your houses tomorrow morning ready to work." When he saw some disappointment on their faces Stoick reminded them, "This is a great honor and will prove to your families and theirs how well you can teach and possibly lead others to Victory."
At the word victory, everyone seemed to be excited all but one. Hiccup stood there was a frown on his face. He couldn't even win a single traditional game himself and now he was forced to train someone. That was just…
"Great," Eira said with a smile as she laid a plate in front of him.
"It is?"
"Well," She shrugged walking over to her place at the table. "You said you didn't want to attend. Now you have your wish."
"I guess," he pushed some of his food around on the plate. "But I also didn't want to be training anyone either."
She was a bit puzzled by his statement. "You train people all the time." She was going to explain her reasoning but he figured it out and clarified.
"No, I train dragons that's completely-" he was cut off.
"You also train the people on how to deal with dragons."
"Well, that's completely different," he retreated.
"Is it?"
He stared at her questioning not only her but himself. She stared back and now both seemed to be communicating with one another with just a look until one of them broke it with actual words.
"I think you should give it a chance," she said, "besides what is the worse that could happen?"
The corner of his lip curled as he told her, "Hi, I'm Hiccup have we met?"
She rolled her eyes but let out a small huff. She then took a bite of food before speaking again, "It still a good thing."
He only hummed and continued to eat the food in front of him.
That was the end of that conversation between them. At least that is how Eira saw it which she didn't know how to take it. Not from Hiccup anyways.
The next day came and Hiccup was waiting like a nervous goat inside his home. According to his father, all the trainers should be knocking on their doors in the morning. Yet as the minutes ticked by… nothing. The same thing happen when two hours strolled on by making Hiccup believe that maybe he wasn't sent anyone to train. Which he thought he would be happy for but for some reason it was leaving a small sting in his chest.
Eira noticed it even though he tried to hide it. "Maybe you should speak to your father, see what happened."
Seeing her small encouraging smile made him feel a bit better and he agreed. Once he was on the back of Toothless he took off towards the Chief's home.
Landing he went to go knock on the door but was stopped when an annoyed voice called out to him.
"There you are!"
He turned around and blinked at the kid coming up to him, "I'm sorry can I help you?"
The kid scoffed at that, "Do you know how long I've been waiting here for you?" The young teen crossed their arms clearly upset and annoyed.
Hiccup still wasn't registering what they were telling him, "Waiting here? Why?"
"Arg!" the kid let out, "not only do I get the guy who can't win a single Thawfest. I also get one who's stupid enough to forget he's training me." The person huffed and practically threw themselves to sit still with their arms cross.
Toothless growled at the insult that was thrown towards his rider but Hiccup just patted his shoulder to calm him down.
Though Hiccup did have one thought cross his mind, "Who the hell is this kid?" He didn't ask that instead, he questioned, "You're my trainee?"
"Yes!" the practically droned, "and I've been waiting all day for you to get your lazy ass here to do so!"
The tone and insults were now starting to irate Hiccup and he asked through gritted teeth, "then why didn't you meet me at my house?"
"Because this is your house!"
"No!" he shouted, "this is my father's house. The Chief's house. My house is up the hillside."
The preteen blinked at the new information but still stood their ground, "Why are you living way out there?"
He pinched the bridge of his nose, "because I got married. Didn't you think it was odd when you didn't see anyone walking around the place?"
The person looked at Hiccup up and down and ignoring his question asked, "Who the hell would want to marry you?"
That was the last straw. "You know what forget it. I knew this was a bad idea. I'm going home. If you see the Chief tell him to find someone else to train you for the games." He hopped on toothless and with pleasure, Toothless took off away from the preteen standing there.
When he did arrive back at his place and explained what happen, the girl who he married wasn't at all pleased with him and it was all said with a look on her face.
"What?" he said trying to shake off her gaze. Eira didn't let up though and Hiccup was becoming fidgety. When he couldn't stand the way she was looking at him he told her, "Please don't look at me like that." She just gave him a soft hum and turned away making him more nervous. "Oh, come one. It's not like I didn't try!"
She just hummed again in acknowledgment as she went about doing her daily routine. Hiccup continued to explain what happened and his side of the story. She only answered him once and it was in a very dry tone, "Must have been very difficult for you then."
The annoyed the dragon rider. She didn't understand what the difficultly was and he made her know that through a slip-up. "What would you know? You have never been treated the way I have been from your tribe, little miss perfect." He froze when he realized what he had just called her and felt terrible instantly. He tried to apologize but she stopped him.
"Don't," she said calmly not looking at him, and calmly asked, "Please leave."
"Eira I'm sorry. I didn't-"
"Leave. Take Toothless and fly for a bit or go to the blacksmith shop and work on something."
"But-"
"Go," she said it in a way that he knew too well, so he called for his dragon and sulked away.
As soon as she heard the door close she allowed herself to let a couple of frustrated tears fall. After that, she tried to get her hands and arms from shaking. Of all the people on Berk, she never expected the one person who knew about her the most could casually insult her the way he did. She was used to the insults though, it was just this time she needed a couple of minutes to collect herself.
Hiccup already knew he messed up. He also knew how much it bothered Eira when she was called perfect. Now he didn't know the full story he just knew it was something she struggled with believing that she was always had to be. He just felt guilty and he knew he deserved every bit of it. Even his dragon knew too.
"I'm such an idiot huh, Bud?"
The dragon warbled out his response making the lad sigh and lean back on a boulder.
They were at the cove. It was the only place Hiccup could think of to go since Toothless didn't feel like flying and he couldn't concentrate on the projects in the shop. That and there was no point in going to the arena with his friends. They were all training the up-and-coming Thawfest players. Not that he could do that anyways since he practically told the preteens to go screw themselves. No, today Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third royally screwed up a lot of things and he damn well knew it.
It was well into the evening when Hiccup made his way into the Great Hall. He knew Eira would not want to see him and from the looks that his friends shot him as they were leaving was a good indicator that they knew Eira was upset with him also. "Just great," he thought moving sluggishly up the staircase. Now he felt like he was back at square one trying to convince everyone he was not a screw-up. He walked in with his head bowed trying not to make eye contact with anyone. When getting his food he sat down at one of the back tables out of sight of others. His food tasted as bland as he felt. "Nothing like Eira's," he thought as he scooped another bite into his mouth.
As he was eating he heard a bunch of the younger crowd became excited. He chuckled at their enthusiasm wishing he could feel the same. Not meaning to eavesdrop on their conversation Hiccup figured out that the gang over there were the participants of the Thawfest games. That piqued his interest even more so when he heard the familiar voice of his trainee. He flinched a little when he heard the lie the kid told the others. More so when the group started to laugh and mock them. It made Hiccup feel more sympathy towards the preteen and more guilt washed over him. At that moment, Hiccup decided to do something about it.
He marched up to the group and all fell silent when he spoke. He didn't speak loud and he didn't sound angry. He was sterner when he told the kid, "Now you better be at my house by sunrise tomorrow. Toothless doesn't like to be kept waiting.
"T-Toothless?" the kid asked with a quiver in his voice.
He gave an affirmed nod. "How else do you expected to be a fast runner in the games?"
All the preteen's eyes went wide and a couple gasped at the news, but as soon as Hiccup started to take his leave he heard all of the gushed over the fact that the other was working with dragons.
When he made it back to his table he was taken back by a guest sitting there. He walked over to his spot slowly and sat down in front of his food. He honestly did not know what to say to the person as they moved around their food on their plate.
Luckily the person started the conversation first, "The food could be a tad warmer."
He nodded in agreement taking a bite of his cold food. When the silence was a tad too much for him he went to say something but the person stopped him.
"I'm still upset with you."
"Then why are-" again he was stopped.
"Because I also forgive you."
"Oh..." he lowered his head and took another bit. A small weight was lifted off his shoulder when she told him this. Then he asked a question, "How can you forgive me but be upset still?"
She shot him a glare making it clear that he was for from the clear. But he took in every word she told him like it was a lesson. "My father taught me that people will say and do things that will hurt you. It is how you handle it that makes you have the upper hand and the best way to do that… forgive them, but don't forget what was done." She looked at Hiccup making sure he understood what she was saying and seeing him gulp but nod, she knew he did.
He still felt guilty at what he told her. That was why he apologized. "I wish I could take it back," he muttered.
This made her smile at him and she reached over to grab his hand. When he looked at her with a surprised expression she softly told him, "and that's why I forgive you."
"Even if I don't deserve it?" he quietly said.
"Yes."
His cheeks felt like they were becoming fire when she smiled at him. Then he sighed once more. "I really am sorry Eira." He felt another squeeze of her hand and he knew she was about to say something but he beat her to it. "I don't understand why that bothers you and I may never understand."
The girl holding his hand was slowly letting it go not at all comfortable with where Hiccup was going with his speech.
He continued, "But it doesn't seem like it's a horrible thing. Being perfect I mean."
"It is," she said emotionless as she fully backed away into her seat. "You have no idea what," she paused wanting to choose her words carefully, "pressure is put upon you when people have this expectation of being perfect."
"I think I have some idea of what pressure feels like," he tried to joke but was shocked when seeing her blue eyes hard.
Her next words felt heartless, "Pressure is easy when you're a screw-up. At least then when you mess up that's expected of you but when you somehow manage to perfect something… well you're praised for it, aren't you?" she didn't need to know his answer for she already knew it. That was why she walked away from Hiccup's slacked jaw surprised and hurt form.
When he shook off his daze and it dawned on him what she said. He jumped up and went after her. Catching up with her he grabbed her arm to stop her and spin her to face him. He wasn't happy either, "What was that in there?"
She couldn't look at him, but her facial expression didn't change from her angry one either.
Hiccup wasn't going to let this go. "You are not going to insult me and then just runoff."
She tugged her arm slightly and was thankful when he let it go. She still wouldn't look at him and she wouldn't speak.
Again, he wasn't going to let this go. "Eira, what the hell? Will you answer me?"
"Answer what?" she finally shot back at him. "The fact that you can't understand when to drop something or-"
"Or maybe the fact you called me a screw-up," he interjected. "You know how that makes me feel." He looked at her hoping he would at least be able to read something from her, but he couldn't, so he waited for a response.
The girl was about to say something yet was interrupted for a second time. Not by Hiccup, but Toothless.
The dragon walked towards the couple and separated them by walking in between. Then the dragon circled his rider before sitting in front of him and blocking the teen's view of the other. He wiggled a bit in his spot when his name was mention. Instead of picking up his rider's annoyance, he caused Hiccup to be distracted enough for the young lady to slip away.
"Urg, Toothless! Not now Bud. Whatever it is that you want it can…" he sighed in defeat seeing that Eira had already made her escape "…Wait." He turned to his dragon at that point and asked, "Never mind. What is it that you want?"
The Night Fury nudged him sympathetically and then motioned for his friend to hop on his back.
Hiccup could only sigh and obliged the reptile. They took off into the air in a matter of seconds. Their flight was not as Hiccup thought it would be, however. They landed in the cove and before the rider could ask his friend why the beast was already starting to make a fire for them. That's when Hiccup knew that the dragon thought it would not be a good idea to talk to the female, let alone be near her. This only made Hiccup upset, but soon as he settled in for the night it folded into sadness and he didn't know what to do except for sleep.
The training sessions went by fast and throughout those days Hiccup only caught glances of Eira. He hadn't been back home since their blow up and that was mainly his fault. He felt swamped with everything going on between his role in Thawfest, keeping up with being a dragon rider, his father's side quest, and helping build saddles that when he had time to think about home and his wife it made sense not to go. Not when he fully didn't know how long she would be mad at him. Also, he was still upset with her and when he thought about it he either became angry or sad. Neither feeling he didn't like but he knew she needed her space and silently he would admit to himself, he needed his too.
It wasn't until the games started and the whole village was gathered that he finally saw Eira. She was walking with Gobber towards him and his dad. Expected to sit with them since she was considered a Haddock. Although she didn't look too thrilled to be there. He couldn't blame her. Though when looking at her he couldn't help but think she was just as pretty as the day he met her on the docks. It made his heart race a bit more as he gave her a quick wave and a small hello. He could only sigh and think, "Well, at least she said hi back to you." And that is what he considered a start.
During the games Hiccup watched his trainee put all their effort into each of the games. He was on the edge of his seat during some of the rounds. Others… well, he knew they were not going to get through it since he didn't practice much when training. He clapped when they succeeded and even jumped up when they managed to win a point at something that he knew the kid was struggling with. Seeing both his father's and wife's surprised faces at his reaction he let out a small cough and sat back down feeling embarrassed by it.
When all the games were finished and the winner was announced Hiccup sat in his spot a little disappointed in himself. He felt like he let the kid down when they didn't even place near the top. They didn't end up on the bottom either. Hopefully, that was enough. The dragon rider found out real fast if it was when his trainee ran up to him yelling.
"Do you see that!" they pointed at their picture and Hiccup nervously nodded. "I was able to get three points! I was able to get on the board! That's all because of you and Toothless!"
"It is," he said cautiously not sure if they were happy with the outcome. It was only when the preteen hugged him and said a quiet thank you did he realized that he did the kid proudly. He was going to encourage them but didn't get a chance to because they were already running away towards their parents to celebrate.
The young Haddock smiled at seeing how happy the family was. He also caught a side glance at his wife and wanted to go up to her, but stopped. He would have told anyone it was because his friends stopped him but in reality, he stopped himself. He was still not ready to face her. So instead he talked to the gang and how they felt Thawfest went for them.
It wasn't until everyone moved to the Great Hall to the feast that he came to realized that he was left with Snotlout to continue the conversation. Not something he wanted for all he was hearing was how his cousin still technically won the tournament since he trained the winner, but it was better than being alone.
Snotlout didn't think so for it was the eleventh time his cousin sighed and noticed he would only do it when looking towards the other friends. He rolled his eyes but groaned when he figured out that it wasn't because of their friends specifically but who the group was talking to. "What even happen between you guys?"
Hiccup shook off his daze, "Huh? What are you talking about?"
Another eye-rolled, "Between you and your little wife? What happen?"
He gulped and tried to shake off the question, but Jorgensen wasn't letting go.
"You two seemed to be all over one another and then the past few days you can't even make eye contact."
Hiccup didn't want to talk about it, but his cousin was becoming annoying and he snapped, "Will you stop it! She's-"
"Mad at me still," Eira told the group. "The most he has even spoken to me was today and all because I called him-"
"Perfect," Hiccup explained to the other rider.
"Isn't that more of a compliment?" Snotlout asked confused.
"You would think," Hiccup said, "but apparently it isn't to her and I haven't been-"
"Home since," the female explained. "I messed up and all because I called him a-"
"Screw up." Hiccup sighed in defeat. "Maybe I am."
"You are," Snotlout encouraged with a smirk.
"Thanks," Hiccup said drily. Then cast his eyes over towards his wife and sighed again.
The other teen rolled his eyes, but seeing Hiccup's sorrowful face he knew he had to help in some way. "Look you've been called a screw-up all your life. I mean even your father has called you that and in front of the village. I don't know how many times."
"Again thank you for the reminder."
"Look all I am saying is how is she calling you that is any different than anyone else?"
Hiccup blinked and then thought about what was said. He knew the answer, but he didn't know the answer. At least not well enough to tell his cousin about it. He stared off towards Eira sighing one more time, "I can't even go over there?"
"Why not?"
"Because she most likely hates me."
"Well, do you hate her?"
"No," he shocked himself at how fast he replied to that. He took a breath and restated his response. "No, I don't think I could ever." That was when he caught her in looking at him and both quickly darted their eyes away, but Hiccup's eyes widen in fear when his cousin thought it was now a brilliant time to shout out across the way the girl's name. They all looked over towards them and before he could ask 'what the hell he was thinking' Snotlout blurted out.
"My cousin doesn't hate you. Do you think you guys can get over this so we can get back to what's important?" He should have stopped there but he didn't, "Like me winning Thawfest… again! Snotlout! Snotlout! Oi! Oi! Oi!"
Everyone rolled their eyes at the display except the young couple. They were staring at one another. One silently asking if what was said true, while the other gave a nervous smile and a small shrug. When the other returned the smile both finally felt a bit of relief.
That was why when Snotlout moved to go hang out with the group Hiccup followed suit. He went up to Eira and was silently thankful that her friends moved away to give them some space.
"Hey," he said feeling awkward enough for the both of them.
"Hello," she said, "again."
"Again," he chuckled a bit and so did she. When it died down he wanted to apologize but couldn't. She began to start a different conversation.
"Does this mean that you'll come home?"
He smiled and nodded which in turn made her smile and tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Her next words made her blush as she admitted, "It was becoming pretty lonely in the house. I missed you."
Before Hiccup could say the same thing Toothless interrupted him and made his presents known by wanting Eira to pet him once again. It made the girl chuckled and obliged when the rider said, "And Toothless miss you as well."
When all the rubbing was sufficient for the dragon he made it up to his friend by going behind Eira and lightly pushing her towards him. She tripped but the one-legged Viking was able to catch her as the reptile chortle that his plan worked.
"Are you okay?" he asked standing her on her feet again.
She nodded and said, "Seems like dragons have a different sense of making up."
He agreed still holding onto her. Neither realizing how close they were to each other. Both only turned beat red when they heard Tuffnut ask.
"So are you guys going to make out now or do you need more privacy because we can always leave?"
"Neither," Eira said trying to control her blush, "But thank you for shouting that out to everyone."
"No problem. Happy to help!"
Hiccup let out a mix between a laugh and groan towards the twin's comment and was eternally grateful when Fishlegs' suggestion of heading to the Hall to eat before it's all gone. When everyone started walking he held the two of them back just out of earshot from the rest. "You know it isn't a bad idea."
"What isn't?"
"Kissing you again," he explained. "I definitely missed that."
The blush was back but she couldn't deny that she felt the same way. She kept her composer up and in the end told him, "Let's just make it back home and we'll see what happens."
He smiled at that and for the first time in a while, he was wanting to be back at his house.
Weeks later Hiccup was sighing half in happiness and half in exhaustion. At first, he thought he was going to be one of the first to claim his spot in a nearby spring but his father had other plans. Now he was just happy to be able to go to the waters for a bath. He needed it. He wanted it. The warm water was something he earned and he certainly didn't want any distractions. That was why he sent his best friend to go relax with the other dragons during this time. He didn't need a thousand-ton lizard trying to splash and play with him at the moment.
He paused for a moment rearranging his bathing supplies in his arms. Once he was comfortable not to drop them he continued on his way to the springs. He dodged a couple of branches on his way there and tripped on a rock or two but he finally made it. Berk wasn't known for any hot springs but they did have some pools of warm water during this time of year and that was a treat in itself. He knelt in front of the water and stuck his hand in to test the temperature and he smiled. It was perfect. He set up his supplies nearby and began to take off his fur vest and folded it neatly. Next was his green tunic and halfway to removing it, he stopped.
A noise caught his attention. He put his shirt down and listened for it again. It was familiar. He knew he heard it before and he went to investigate it. Inching closer he was able to pick up some of the words of the sound making it clear that it was human. It was odd for Hiccup to hear someone way out here though. No one came out here. He only did because he like the privacy. He was curious until he peeked around the trees and was smacked with the sight of a very naked and bathing Eira.
He wanted to duck down. He wanted to move. Hell, even close his eyes would have been great, yet he couldn't. Nothing was going on in his brain except watching his wife in the water.
He had a full-frontal view of her. The water only coming up to her thighs. She was carefully taking the rag she had brought with her and dripping it into the water only to wipe it across her shoulders and chest. Cleaning away any grime that she might have collected during the day.
The poor boy was already drawn to her but now he knew he wasn't going to be able to look at her the same way again. Especially, when she started to sing again. It was the same son she was always singing for Toothless when she thought he couldn't notice. He never understood why she was self-conscious by it. Her voice was soothing, to say the least. Now though it was completely different as she hummed and rubbed her body down.
Watching her only became a problem when his pants started to be very constrictive and painful. It was the only thing that pulled him out of the trance. He finally turned around and rushed back to the spot he was going to bathe at.
Hiccup didn't need a mirror to tell how red his face was. Actually, all he needed was some alone time and his bath. So after he had stripped and settled down on a boulder, he began his cleaning routine. One that was mainly focused on his manhood. Not long after his "routine" he grunted softly and said the girl's name once he was finally able to cum. When finished with that he decided to clean himself off. However, it did not last long when he reimagined Eira naked and bathing once more. He could only groan at the sight of his dick rising back to life. So one more time he began to rub his hard cock thinking of a pretty brunette that he shared a house with. That he shared a bed with. Those facts did not help at all and all he could think about was her naked in their bed. Then his brain turned that imagery into him on top of her in said bed and soon he was coming into his hand again shooting it up to his chest. Another groan left him. He was never going to get freshen up at this rate.
After maybe the third time of pleasuring himself Hiccup decided that was enough and ended his bath. He didn't think he could masturbate again and the only way he could think on how to stop was to leave the area.
He picked up everything and sluggishly made his way back to the village. The bath was supposed to reenergize and relax him but all he felt was more exhaustion. He was slouching forward as he was walking. His mind was finally going blank during his walk that he almost missed the distant laughter.
Almost.
His green eyes looked in the direction of the noise and curiosity got the best of him as he went to investigate. What he came upon was the small group of kids and a few hatchlings playing around. Some were chasing one another, a couple of kids sparing with sticks they found as the dragons tried to fetch them, and a few of the younger ones were sitting with a young woman his mind couldn't escape from. His jaw could have dropped. Instead, a small grin was forming. The kids she was with decided that it was a good idea to practice their braiding skills as some baby dragons were sunbathing around them. That meant that his wife's dark brown freshly clean locks were being braided along with some wildflowers snuck in. From what he heard the flowers were there to "elevate" the finished product which made him chuckle, but the young wife didn't seem to mind as she stroke the scales of a Terrible Terror that found a good resting spot near her lap. Others took the flowers and started making crowns and bracelets and placing them on Eira and the unconscious dragon.
As he listened closely it seemed like she was telling the youngsters a tale. One that he knew, but thought it was a bit girly when he was the children's age. It was a good tale nonetheless. He smiled more when she reached the end. He gulped when she chuckled at the children's questions.
"Are they real?"
"You mean the forest fairies that turn into humans?" she asked.
The kids nodded asking, "Are you a forest fairy?"
"Wait let me check!" one of the kids stood up and went right up to Eira's face to inspect her.
She was a bit surprised as the child intensely stared at her. Even the Terrible Terror was spooked and left its warm spot for safety. "Um…" she blinked and tried not to feel uncomfortable with a small child being in her personal space as they grabbed her face, smushing her cheeks, and turning her head left and right.
The kid hummed and inspected until they let go of her face and sighed sadly, "Nah I don't think she is. Her freckles don't glitter like the sun and her eyes don't hold moonlight." Then the kid sadly walked back to the circle a bit disappointed.
Eira chuckled, "Well, I could have told you that."
"But she looked like one during her wedding according to Mama. Are you sure?"
"And you look like one now!" another shouted excitedly as they put more flowers in her hair.
Eira could only laugh at their words and carefully pulled the crowns off her head and settled them on the little one's heads instead. "There now all of you look like the magical forest fairies." Her laughter only grew when hearing them squeal in delight and then immediately watched as they started to reenact the story.
Hiccup chuckled but froze when both of their eyes met. His mouth went dry when she flashed him a small smile and gave a quick little wave. He in return gave an awkward one and then darted away. He didn't want to admit it. Not again at least but the proof was attached to him. Those mere seconds of interaction with Eira were enough for him to be turned on again.
The trek back home was painful with it and he brushed off anyone who tried to have a conversation with him. When he did make it back home he slammed the door closed and rushed to the bedroom so he could take care of his problem. He sat down on the side of his bed with his pants around his knees. He was about to grip the base of his cock when he heard the front door of the house closed. He cursed when he heard his name being called. He swiftly pulled his pants back on and made sure his throbbing dick was not going to be the center of attention. He greeted his wife while exiting the room, taking notice that her first instinct was to check his workspace upstairs to find him. "Yeah, I'm here Eira."
She met him with a concerned look on her face but he beat her to the question she wanted to ask.
"Is there something wrong?"
"I could ask you the same," she said taking a step closer to him. "You practically ran away from the field when you saw me."
He gulped trying to bring back any moisture that he could as he realized he was slowly being back into a corner. He didn't know what to say and all he did was agree with the statement with a nod. Then his cock throbbed against his trousers when she touched his forehead after mentioning how flushed he looked. "I'm fine," he stammered hoping his voice didn't change in pitch. He also took another step back. When she took another step forward he decided to change tactics and turn sideways trying to hide any giveaway of what was really on his mind.
She was not convinced. "Hiccup," she stressed taking a step to see his face clearly and was only annoyed when he went to dodge her again. It only increased her worry. It didn't stop her prying, however. She wanted to know whether he was upset or not and if she was somehow the cause. After all, their last argument wasn't resolved and it was more of them pushing it to the side. It was easier for the teens to handle it that way. Maybe not the healthiest, but it was easiest. All of this made the young female nervous that was why she tried one more time to ask him, "Hiccup?"
The younger rider sighed hearing his name being called like that. It was worse than it being yelled at when he had done something wrong. He had to answer her, "I'm fine Eira."
"But…"
"Really," he continued. "I-I…" Gods he was embarrassed. "I can't look at you right now." He said all of this while trying to keep his tunic down to hide the evidence as to why that was.
Again her words cut through him as she asked, "What did I do?"
He bit his lip and shut his eyes close. His cock was still throbbing despite how he was feeling. Why couldn't he just calm down? If he could just do that then everything would be alright. "You didn't do anything wrong," he explained, "I promise." He paused and then took a glance at her saying, "It's me."
She gave him a confused look and rested a hand on his shoulder only to ask, "What can I do to help?"
He sighed and thought, "Not be so damn beautiful? Or stop me from seeing you naked?"
"Hiccup?"
He shook out of his thoughts and finally decided to tell her the truth. "I-I can't look at you."
She nodded, "You said that already, but why?"
"Because I-" his face was bright red as he muttered out his next words.
"I'm sorry, what?"
"I HAVE A BONER!" His eyes were shut just as he yelled that out and he was not looking at her now.
At first, she was not sure of what he had said. When it finally dawned on her she let out a quiet, "Oh." She tried not to cast her eyes towards his groin area to see if it was true, but she did and indeed it was true. A blush on her face would be an understatement of a description. Her lips tighten and she tried not to make him any more mortified than he was by looking at it. So she did her best to keep her eyes anywhere else to help ease the boy in front of her. Her curiosity of his dilemma got the best of her and so she asked, "How did that happen?"
He was still standing in a way where he could keep some dignity but was flabbergasted by her question. "You mean how I got a-a-
"Boner?" she tried the word out for herself and was beet red, definitely not looking at him.
Hiccup blinked. Could she not see why he was still turned on? Did she really not understand it was because of her that he silently tormented himself? Most men would say he lucked out with how pretty the young girl was, but being with her for almost a year there were plenty of other reasons why he lucked out. Her beauty was just a plus. However all those reasons are why he had a boner, but how could he even begin to tell her that? Confessing something like this wasn't something he was used to. Hel, he didn't even know if that was appropriate to have these thoughts about her. They were still taking it slow building their relationship, so what he was thinking was not part of that slow plan. She asked though. She asked and he had to tell her something. He gulped, "It just happens sometimes with me, other guys too."
She understood that she wasn't stupid. She felt the hard pokes in her back some morning while he was still asleep. What she wanted to know was what triggered it now. This determination made her ask again.
It only caused Hiccup to groan. He pressed the palms of his hands into his face while doing so. The only good thing about her interrogation is that his boner was going down, but only slightly. If only he could get the image of her naked out of his mind. He heard a gasp and realized he had just said his thoughts out loud. He was in a panic as she asked when that had happen, but he didn't notice how panic she looked as well, while he tried to cover his mistake. He couldn't though and ended up stating the truth. The truth is he ran into her bathing earlier and how he thought he took care of his urge but never expected to see her so soon after in the field that it came rushing back. He also mentioned how he didn't want to scare or upset her so he took off running. The boy stopped talking and studied her face wondering exactly how upset she truly was.
"Do you still have that urge?"
He was confused, "What do you mean?"
She sighed, "You know. Do you still have that urge to-to-" she mumbled the rest making him ask her to repeat it. Another sigh and her face feeling like it was on fire, "Have sex with me?"
"Fucking Gods," he thought. His boner was almost gone. He was so close to going back to normal, but then she had to ask that and it came back tenfold. He wanted her. He wanted her so bad that if he could he would have pushed her against the wall and have her right then and there. He didn't, he knew better and he knew she was waiting for an answer. He quietly answered her with an apology. "Yes," he looked at the floor disappointed in himself, "yes I do and I'm sorry. I'm-" he froze when feeling her hand touching his cheek as she gently moved his head so she could look at him. She wasn't saying anything and after a bit, he said her name.
That was when she kissed him. She took him by surprise when she did but she wasn't going to stop to explain her actions. The kiss was soft at first then slowly grew as he started to kiss her back and her hands snuck their way towards the base of his neck. Her fingers intertwining in his hair. She let out a soft moan through the kiss when he moved his hands to her hips and pulled them closer to his. She felt his cock grow harder against her thigh and it made her break the kiss and gained them a chance to catch their breath.
Hiccup's eyes were still showing signs of shock at what had happened but he was not going to complain.
Eira was different, "Is this too fast?"
The boy shook his head but then went back and thought about it. He thought about what they promised each other. The first was that they were going to take their time with each other and the other… well he chuckled and told her, "We said we weren't going to be perfect right? I think this qualifies." He was breathing heavily and when he heard a small chuckle and seen a head nod, he relaxed. He took a moment to look at her and brush her hair back behind her ear. He smiled and his heartbeat a tad harder when she smiled back. He took another moment to look at her noticing some flower petals in her hair from the crowns the kids made earlier. He kept his hand on her jawline and continued to brush the pad of his thumb over her cheek. It was warm and soft and all he wanted to do was touch her more. That was the main reason why he asked, "Are you sure you want to continue?"
"Hiccup," she said his name in a way to ask if he was serious. She then turned the question on him, "Do you?"
There was no doubt in his voice when he told her that he did yet he also told her that he didn't want to push or rush anything.
That made her smile and with him being concern over her wellbeing it was heartwarming. She sighed with a smile towards him and leaned into the hand that was touching her cheek. She then took his hand and led him back towards the bedroom. Hiccup smiling the whole way there.
Entering the room the young girl was nervous. Anyone would be and after remembering what was said on their wedding day about sex she was becoming self-doubting about the situation. Taking a deep breath she looked at her husband and remembered what was said about him also. That calmed her. She encouraged him with a smile and was more settled when he squeezed her hand.
"We really don't have to do this," he gave her another chance to back out.
"I want to," she stood firm on her decision, but her voice trembled a bit, "I'm just a little…"
"Nervous?" he finished for her and seen her nod. "I am too," he confessed and sat on the edge of the bed hoping to calm his nerves. He felt her join him and he continued to speak, "I don't want to mess anything up nor do I want to hurt you."
She placed a hand on top of his. "You won't hurt me."
"But I will," he stressed, he heard what happens the first time for girls during sex. He didn't want to cause her that pain. "When it happens you'll bleed and apparently it hurts…a lot." He had a panic look in his eyes and he moved his hands in his lap causing her to let go. Then his mind began to race, "And what if you don't like it? What if-"
"Well," she interrupted him with a small blush on her cheeks. "If it is like any of the dreams I have been having of you, then that's not even a worry."
"Dream?" he asked, then thought, "Great now I have to live up to a fantasy expectation."
Her cheeks redden with her nod. "And I also heard the opposite from what you did."
"You did?"
Another nod from her.
"W-what did you hear?"
"You know," she started, but he hadn't. "That it's different for everyone. That we won't know what it's like until it happens."
"Really?"
"Really, but I'm still nervous. I want it to be good for you."
"I want it to be good for you too," he confessed again.
"I guess the only way to find out is to try."
"Still want too?" he looked at her.
She laughed grabbing his hands to hold, "Yes, how many times do you need me to tell you?"
He chuckled at the question taking one of his hands to scratch the back of his head as he joked, "Is constantly too much?"
Again she laughed, "Then let me ask you this, do you still want to go through with this?"
He closed his eyes and sighed, "Yes," he confirmed but shyly confided to her, "I can't stop imagining you naked at the springs."
"Hm," she said, "Well, that doesn't seem fair."
"What doesn't?" he asked.
"That you've seen me naked-"
"That was an accident!" he panicked a bit cutting her off.
She continued, "and all I have is my imagination of you." She gave him a small sly smile. The pink tint of her cheeks being the only indicator that she was struggling with her confidence.
"Oh," he said, "What should we do about that?" he did his best to flirt with her, but his nerves were still could be heard. He did scoot closer to her placing a hand lightly on her knee.
"What would you like to do?" she scooted closer to him as well and leaned a bit forward hinting at what she would like.
He slowly leaned into her bringing his head closer, "I have an idea or two," he said in a hushed tone.
She smiled and tilted her head when she felt one of his hands touch her cheeks again. Her eyes fluttered closed when they lean in even closer and it felt like all the air escaped her when their lips finally met. She moaned a bit when he went to bit further and snuck his tongue to lightly play with hers. His other hand on her thigh squeezing softly causing more of a response from her.
They took a few moments to breathe but with each moment of a small break, they moved closer to each other. Their hands exploring and touching anywhere they could. Hiccup's finding their way pushing Eira's dress up and Eira's working on taking off his belt. Their hands fumbled around each other each trying to get closer to feel the other's skin. There was just one problem and that was the amount of semi-complicated clothing they wore. The task of it taking its toll on the mood until Eira stopped Hiccup from kissing her once more.
He was confused until he saw that she was taking off her belt and he quickly got the hint and started to follow suit. Both now sitting on the edge of the bed again with less on. Hiccup stared at his prosthetic once she settled back down next to him.
Eira noticed and asked, "Is something wrong?"
He sighed, "My leg… I don't know if I should take it off or not."
She looked at it and then back to him. She then said, "This is all about what we're comfortable with. Do what you feel comfortable."
He sighed again and nodded. "I think I want to leave it on. If that's okay?"
It was her turn to lightly kiss him and say, "Of course."
He smiled and turn his head enough to kiss her again. His hands were back on her thighs massaging them until he reached the band of her leggings. Her small mews of enjoyment encouraging him. He even joined her in the enjoyment as her hands began slipping up his shirt touching his sides and back. They only paused their make-out session to take off the green tunic he wore. Then as they went back to kissing each other Hiccup was determined to take away a piece of clothing from the girl. His target was her leggings of course and to accomplish his goal he nudged her to lay down on the bed.
Eira did and she broke away from his lips to breathe and take a look at her husband who had settled in between her legs. She took notice of how his lean frame fit well above her and that despite on hos he looked with his clothes one he was toning up thanks to all his work in the forge and flying dragons. The one thing that stood out the most however was his bright green eyes. She could trust him with the way he was looking at her and she showed that to him by lifting her hips so he could take off the leggings and cloth underneath.
Next, was her top and to Hiccup's surprise that was all he had to take off of Eira to have her naked. He didn't get to enjoy the view of it as he did earlier, she covered herself with her arms. It was a mix between instincts and nerves though and Hiccup could sense it from her and so he asked, "Are you still doing okay?"
She nodded and took a deep breath before letting it out slowly. Her deep blue eyes looking back up at him and flashed him a smile. The only excuse she could say to him was, "Habit."
He chortled," understandable. We could-"
She shook her head. She didn't want to stop and him keeping up with his constant questioning was turning sour. She then reminded him and herself, "You have seen it before? Me naked I mean?"
He was about to answer but stopped himself and asked instead, "This isn't a trap, is it?"
She laughed and told him no and explained, "I might feel a bit more comfortable if I knew that you already liked what you've seen?"
"Eira," he spoke softly and brushed her hair behind her ear keeping his hand there to cup her cheek gently stroking it with his thumb. "I've been taken by you ever since we met on the docks."
"Truthfully?" she blushed at him as he replied with a nod.
Hiccup then leaned down capturing her lips and he sealed his answer by doing so.
That action also made Eira feel comfortable enough to let her guard down allowing one of the dragon rider's hands to slip into her holding it on the bed close to her head.
He repeated the same action with his other hand and hers, still softly kissing her as he did. Then he started to move his lips trailing down her jaw and neck feeling her soft skin. He took in the scent of the wildflowers and oils from her bath and it was adding fuel to his desire of wanting her. He made it to her collar and lightly nipped at it and found out it was a sensitive spot when she breathed out his name. It allowed the small spark between them to grow and Hiccup pressed his hips to hers. It allowed him to grind his constricting cock in his pants against her opening and clit.
Both moaned at the feeling and so he did it again and again. Eira wrapping her arms around him, her nails lightly scraping his skin every time a shock of pleasure was sent through her. When he did it one more time it was all that she could take and she whispered in his ear, "Hiccup take off your pants."
He smirked at her request but was happy to oblige. He sat on his knees working on the knot that held his pants up. While doing this he took a moment to look at his wife beneath him. She was beautiful. Her cream skin a glow from the natural light coming through. Her heavy breathing catching his eyes as her breast fell up and down in a rhythm. Then his eyes travel down her slim waist to her hips and then he noticed her dark curls covering her sex and how around her opening was slightly glistening from her juices. He couldn't help but smile at that knowing he was the reason he turned her on. He was able to get his pants down enough to where his hard cock could spring free and once it was he resume his position back on top of her kissing her fiercely and groping her breast.
Before Hiccup went back to the task at hand Eira was able to look at her husband. A small trail of hair was on his chest down to his groin where a small bush rested at the base. She didn't have time to see his manhood fully but she caught a glimpse of it and she could confidently say that he was not a runt in any way. It also made her somewhat nervous, but she trusted him and so she chose not to mention anything. She instead decided to enjoy the feeling he was bringing to her.
Hiccup massaged her breast while kissing her. He was enjoying the feeling of the softness of them and how her nipples became small pebbles in his palms. He loved all the reactions she was given off and he loved it more knowing he was the one able to do this to her.
"I don't think I could ever get bored of this," he thought as he moved down her chest to gently suck on her sensitive nipple, especially when she gasped and moaned out his name. He didn't know how long he could wait anymore. For while he was concentrating on what his hands and mouth were doing he was also continuously rubbing against her folds feeling exactly how wet she was. His cock was also getting wet thanks to his grinding. He only stopped to look up at her to ask her a very important question, "Eira?"
"Yes?" she rasped.
"Can we go further now?"
"Yes," it was almost a desperate plead coming from her but she wanted it. She wanted him and she didn't want to wait anymore. She even let him know she wasn't second-guessing anything by pressing her hips to his.
He groaned at her actions and he didn't need to be told twice as he tried to push himself inside her. It was a tricky task though. Every time he thought he was lined up perfectly as soon as he went to thrust he slipped and ended up just rubbing against her. It was causing her to moan but it was getting frustrating. He wanted to be in her damn it. He stopped everything he was doing and sat back on his knees.
Eira looked up at him with some concern and sat up on her elbows. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah," he answered, "Just a small setback." He held the base of his cock making her take a better look at him.
She gulped finally realizing how large he was. In reality, he was only slightly larger than average but for a girl having it be her first experience she had to wonder if it was going to fit. She didn't have time to think about it anymore since she felt the tip of his dick lightly pushing against her opening and since Hiccup was guiding it he was not going to slip up.
With one more look at her, he asked, "Ready?"
She could only nod too afraid to speak.
He leaned into her, kissing her as he slowly pushed himself in. when he reached the thin barrier that made her a virgin he kissed her harder muffing her gasp as he quickly pushed himself through and settled all of his cock inside her.
Her eyes were shut tight and she tried not to cry from the intrusion. She was just very happy that once Hiccup was fully in her that he didn't move except for the soft kisses on her lips and cheeks as he whispered his apologies. It didn't hurt like she thought it would but it was very uncomfortable. She hadn't said anything in a while and it was the reason why he asked, "You doing okay?"
She nodded and looked at him her face twitching in discomfort when looking at him. "Just adjusting is all."
He nodded trying to hold back his gasp and moans. Every time that she adjusted he would have to bite his bottom lip. It felt too good to be true. It felt like a warm comfortable blanket wrapped around him and all he wanted to do was move inside it. He just held himself back afraid that he could hurt her more. So, he waited and when she called his name he almost sighed in relief.
"You can move now," she told him.
He almost couldn't. He felt so relieved that he could that it made him too weak. He took a deep breath and looked at her. Her blue eyes staring right into his green ones and she gave him a small grin of encouragement. He just nodded in return. He slowly moved and shifted his hips as both gasped at the feeling.
It felt weird at first having him move. She tried to help by moving with him but it just made it feel clumsier. Eira shivered and sighed a few things when his thrusting rubbed against certain parts. She just wished he would do it more, but she kept quiet. He just looked like he was enjoying himself and she didn't want to ruin it for him. So she just tried to relax when he began to move faster and a bit harder. Her hands moving along his back, her nails lightly scraping against his freckle skin when he hit those spots again.
He moved faster when he heard her moan his name and he couldn't stop, he was so close. In a split second, he pulled out of her and grunted as he came with his hand spilling his seed onto her belly. He was huffing and trying his best to hold himself above her. He didn't want to crash his weight onto her. When he looked down at her he noticed she was a bit flushed in her cheeks but that was all. She didn't look as tired as he did and that was a bit concerning.
"Are you okay?" he asked still panting.
She nodded giving him a soft smile. She covered her chest with her arms and said, "Just peachy." Though deep down everything that happened felt unfinished for her.
Hiccup stared at her trying to find the problem and when it dawned on him he sighed and bowed his head in defeat. "You," he started, "You didn't cum did you?"
"I um," she said feeling somewhat embarrassed. "It was fine," but when she looked at him she couldn't lie. "I didn't… no… not even close." Eira didn't want to look at him when hearing him sigh in defeat once more. However, she quickly did with wide eyes when hearing him state.
"Well, I guess I should finish what I started, huh?"
"What do you mean?" Can you even go again after… well, you know?"
He chuckled and shook his head, "Nah, but there are other ways to satisfy your wife apparently."
She didn't have time to say anything as he kissed her and moved his hands down her shoulders to cup her breast. He gently massaged each one lightly pinching her nipples between his thumb and index finger which caused her to moan. He deepened the kiss at that, gently sucking on her tongue and playing with it with his own. One of his hands moving down lower slowly tracing each rib until it reached her waist. He pulled away for them to take a breath but he didn't stop. Hiccup just moved on to nipping and kissing her neck and collar.
Eira gasped and groaned at every sensation he was bringing to her. Her hands were back on his shoulders squeezing them a bit tighter whenever he sucked a bit harder on her nipple. She grabbed onto him and yelped when she felt his nibble fingers touch her clit.
He smirked and took a moment to ask, "You doing okay?"
"Uh-huh," she sighed in a whimper. She bit her bottom lip to hold in another moan.
"Good," he continued his work and watched as she withered and bucked every time he would touch certain spots on her. He was enjoying this a bit more than being on top of her. He liked figuring out what made her call out to him. He especially liked when she gasped and moaned when he slid two of his fingers inside her. His grin grew as he slowly moved his fingers inside her. His green eyes were intently on her even when his other hand was massaging her breast and roaming her soft skin. He curled his two fingers a bit to see what would happen and he was pleasantly surprised.
She bucked into his hand and cried out in pleasure. "Gods," she thought, "Don't let him stop." She called out his name again lightly biting her fist to quiet the other moan that wanted to escape.
Hiccup's smile never waived as he kept stroking the spot inside her that made the girl arch her hips towards him he moved faster seeing her become wilder than earlier. Soon enough he watched as his wife gasped one more time until she called out to him. Her hands clenched tightly onto the sheets. He knew exactly what had happened when he felt her muscles clamp around his fingers and then twitch once she laid back down on the bed once finished.
Eira laid on the bed out of breath and trying to get her eyes to focus again. She barely caught his questions, but she did catch them and she gave simple responses.
"Are you okay?"
"Uh-huh."
"Did you finish?"
"Uh-huh," she said more enthusiastic with a nod.
The young husband's grin went wider and he pulled his fingers out of her. He leaned up and kissed her damp temple and whispered softly, "Good."
"I don't think I can move," she told him out of breath.
That just boosted his confidence, but he didn't brag. He continued to smile at her and planned to get both of them cleaned up. He grabbed a few clean rags and a small bucket of water. Damping the linen he began to wipe away any of his fluids off her stomach, apologizing when she jumped from it being cold. Next, was her thighs and her sex. When cleaning that area he noticed a faint color of pink mixed with her cum and he could only assume it was from taking her virginity. He frowned at that, yet was sort of thankful that it wasn't as bad as others had spoken of. He was only dragged out of his thoughts when she asked him.
"Are you trying to get another round in?" a hint of playfulness in her voice as she asked.
He only realized that she asked was because he was gently rubbing her inner thigh. He smiled yet shook his head, "Nah, maybe later though." He took this time to look at her sprawled out completely naked in their bed. Her totally unafraid that she was in front of him and it made him mumbled to himself, "definitely later."
When returning to the room Hiccup noticed that Eira was laying on her stomach clearly in a light sleep. He smiled and noticed that she smiled too when he brushed her hair out of the way. When doing so the faint candlelight caught something of his interest. He gently moved more locks of her hair out of the way to see if he was right, which he was. From the top of her shoulder and down her back was a badly healed scar and not just one. He could see at least three and bet there was another because he had seen these markings before. He swallowed at the sight. Not because she was disgusted but because he knew exactly how the pain felt.
Carefully he touched the one that started on her shoulder and heard her sigh in content at the contact, but when he finally asked all of her ease fell to the wayside.
"Eira, what happened?"
She was going to joke back and explain exactly what they just did but stopped when he elaborated.
"What happened to your back?"
She snapped up taking the blanket with one hand to cover her front while her other hand worked quickly to fix her hair to cover the damaged flesh. She stammered out, "Nothing. It's nothing."
He looked at her like she was crazy, "Eira, you have scars up and down your back. Scars from a dragon. That's not nothing."
"It is to me," she stated shortly not looking at him.
"Eira," he went to reach for her but stopped.
"Look just because you open up about what happened to you proudly doesn't mean everyone else has to do the same." She looked away from him after her outburst and he barely heard her soft, "Please."
She radiated fear and sadness and he desperately wanted to get to the truth. He didn't though. He couldn't. So instead he put his hand on her knee and told her, "Okay, I-" he stopped when she looked at him with some glimmer of hope in her dark blue eyes. He sighed and repeated himself, "Okay." He reassured her by squeezing her knee and moved closer to her enough that she leaned into his embrace.
She closed her eyes and tried to relax as he held her. The memories were threatening to come back and she tried to keep them at bay. She tried breathing calmly, even tried to focus on her husband's heartbeat as he held her. What truly helped clear her head was when he began to comb her hair with his fingertips. That was something her father did when she was a little girl and without even knowing it the small kind gesture was lulling her to sleep.
Weeks went by and despite there being some hiccups during their first time the young couple was getting better in the bedroom. Neither had too many complaints and they were doing better at finishing with each other despite Hiccup always finishing outside of her. Both agreeing to enjoy another more than anything.
There was just one problem with taking that step in their relationship and it had nothing to do with Hiccup. No Eira's annoyance came from her best girlfriend, Ruffnut. She let it slip during one of their bath days that she and Hiccup had done it and now it was constant bickering of to give her more details.
She rolled her eyes again as she packed the last piece of her dry linen. "Ruff if you ask me one more time…"
"What? If you would just tell me I wouldn't be bothering you so much."
"Well, maybe Astrid was right," which was a strange statement coming from the brunet, "You should just go find out yourself."
"Can't," then she smirked when noticing the confused face of the other. "He's your husband it would be sort of wrong if I gave him a whirl, you know."
"Oh Gods," she groaned, "I just want to fold my laundry Ruffnut. Just go find someone and give them a whirl, so you say."
"Why? When you could just tell me what it's like and I wouldn't be so knaggy."
"So what? I was a test subject for you?"
The twin shrugged, "Didn't plan it that way but you were the first one out of the three to try to first."
Eira sighed and stopped walking. She held the basket she carried on her hip and with one hand. "Do you really want to know?"
The blonde nodded.
"Would you leave me alone about all this if I tell you?"
Another nod.
"Fine. Let's just say you were right about him being good with his hands." The girl's reward was her friend's bright red face and her stunned silence. Eira was smirking, "What's wrong? I thought you wanted to know?"
"I did," she answered but still in shock, "I just didn't think- I meant it's…"
"Personal?"
"Yeah," Ruffnut agreed. "I'm sorry for pushing."
"It's okay," she forgave. "Want to help me fold laundry?"
"I don't even fold my own clothes, what makes you think-" she stopped when she saw the face that Eira made and caved in. it didn't take long to do the chore Eira wanted to accomplished, and once finished Ruffnut was more than happy. She was even more ecstatic when she saw what was coming towards the docks. She was practically dragging the brunet down the pathways. It was only when Eira begged for her to slow down, did she. She was still in a rush, "Come on Eira I want to go to Johann's ship before nothings left."
"What do you mean?"
"Trader Johann's here. He comes to Berk to trade exotic items and stuff. Would like to get something cool before my brother claims it."
The name of the trades' man was what caught Eira's attention and she wondered if it was the same person she was thinking of. If it was then she was indeed ready for something comforting and that was what made her hurry with the twin.
On the docks, Hiccup was trying to find something to trade with the man for his exotic bottle of squid ink. He had offered three items but Johann decline every one of them since he already had the inventions Hiccup was willing to trade.
"I'm sorry master Hiccup I just worked way too hard fighting that colossal squid for its ink to trade it for something I don't need."
Hiccup sighed understanding and in defeat, he placed the bottle back down and searched the ship for some other item that he could use. It only took a few seconds later until his savior came though.
"You know that tale is rather surprising since the bottle that the ink is in comes has the seal of the Southern Sea Walker tribe at the bottom. I also know that the tribe trades a rather large supply with you, Johann."
The trader's eyes were wide and his voice sounded very surprised to see her. "Miss Osterburg," he greeted, "What a wonderful surprise to see you. Here… On Berk?" He was nervous but he was also very confused. "What brings the jewel of the Sea Walkers to this neck of the archipelago?" He fiddled with his hands.
She gave the man a sweet smile, "Well, this is my home now Johann. I'm married." She took the bottle of ink and walked over to Hiccup handing it to him. "And I am called Mrs. Haddock now by the way and from what I recall it's tradition to give a gift to newly wedded couples, especially if they are the children of respectful high ranking Chiefs of two powerful tribes." She held the boy's arm smiling at the man almost daring him to challenge her when telling him, "And we will be happy to accept this as the gift."
Hiccup stood there in shock at how Eira was handling the situation. Even when Johann stood his ground the young girl would not budge. In fact, her voice was becoming colder.
"Congratulations Master Hiccup on such a fine woman you caught yourself," he began and all the rider could do was nod. Then the man turned to the little wife. "But I am afraid Miss Eira that I can't just give you my last bottle-"
"You mean the last bottle on the deck. I am sure there's a crate full down below." He was going to interject but she beat him to it, "And before you say anything I know you do because you claim that it's one of the most popular items you ever sold and ask for multiples from my father all the time." She knew that he wouldn't argue anymore when she saw him glare and she continued to smile. "So a wedding gift it is then. Thank you very much," She then tugged Hiccup to follow her off the ship and all the husband could do was follow behind and wonder what just transpired there.
"What was that back there?"
She didn't answer instead she asked, "Can he see us?"
The rider took a look behind them and said, "No, he's talking to my dad I think. We're also pretty far for anyone to see us."
Her posture changed dramatically to the point where she leaned against a barrel nearby. She placed a hand over her racing heart. She then looked at him with some relief and then began to chuckle as she confessed to him, "That was the first time in my life that I ever argued back to an adult."
"Really?"
She nodded and it explained her composure at the moment.
So he had to ask, "So why now of the sudden?"
She shrugged but had the biggest smile on her face at how proud she felt, "My father always said never settle for less than what you are worth."
"Good advice."
She nodded, "Yes, that and never get conned which you were."
His face fell a bit when he realized that he was. He didn't know how to take it since he had been trading with Johann for a while now. What he did know was that he was grateful for having a wife, a friend, who would stand up for him. That was something he wouldn't ever trade.
Back on the boat, Johann was speaking to Stoick. "I can see that your daughter-in-law has picked up a few habits from living on Berk."
Stoick smiled, "Indeed she has. Something that would make any father proud."
"Maybe in this tribe. Don't know how the other tribe would have taken the disrespect."
"Disrespect?" Stoick question. "The only disrespect that I saw was you trying to fool my son out of some ink."
Johann backtracked when sensing the Chief's anger rise, so he changed the topics by pulling out a letter he was to deliver to the man. "Speaking of the Sea Walker tribe I think they are requesting some assistance. It might have to do with a small dragon problem."
"A dragon problem?" that piqued his interest as he opened the letter. "They haven't had a dragon issue since…" he paused not sure how close the man was to Illfuss. "Well, for years." He read the note carefully and then rolled it back up. He excused himself and went to go find his son. This was a task for him and his dragon riders.
It was later when the Chief was able to gather everyone up to the Dragon Academy. Once every teen was there and ready to hear their Chief. He then began to explain the letter that he received. They were all confused and wary of the situation being asked of them.
"Why are we going to a place that hasn't had a dragon in years?" Snotlout asked annoyed.
"Because they have one now or they think they do," Stoick answered. "Either way they are our allies and I'm sending you to help."
"But they hate dragons. Won't they, I don't know, kill ours?"
All the dragon's eyes went wide at the news and were not on board with helping anyone if it meant they will not be alive anymore. The only reason why they were calmed back down was because of Hiccup stating.
"They know about ours and won't cause them any harm." He then turned to his father, "We'll go to help them. We'll go first in the morning and if everything goes smoothly we can be there three, four days tops."
"Sounds like a plan."
The leader of the dragon riders turned to his friends and told them their orders to go home and pack. They all did, including Stoick. Everyone except two. The two were Hiccup and Astrid.
The blonde looked at her friend and already knew he was planning on how to help the village and the problem presented to them. However, she knew that he was overlooking another closer to home. "Hiccup, what are you going to tell Eira?"
His brain froze and he told his friend the truth, "I don't know."
"Hiccup, she deserves to know what is happening."
"I know," he said, "I'll tell her once I get home."
She shook her head, "That's going to be hard. Do you need me to be there? I know we're not close but it could help to have someone else explain to her."
This time he shook his head and reassured her that he could and should be the only one to handle it. With that decided both left to go pack and get ready.
Back at his home, he wondered how he was going to break the news to Eira. Opening the door he didn't have to wonder for long. Sitting with his wife was his father and it looked like he already explained what was happening. Stoick quickly left once he came in and as soon as the door closed Eira jumped on Hiccup.
"I'm going with you."
"Eira, please…"
"Hiccup, it's my tribe. I need to go to help them. To help my father," she pleaded with him.
He shook his head as he tried to calm her down. "I know you want to help, but Eira you can't. They have a dragon problem something you have little experience with."
"I've had experienced with dragons," she countered.
"Living on Berk doesn't count Eira. Every dragon you've met has been trained or docile enough to be around. The Sea Walker Tribe has a wild dragon. They are unpredictable and we have no clue how they will react. It's too dangerous for someone with no training." She was going to say something else but he continued, "Besides you don't even have a dragon to ride or ridden one."
"I rode Toothless," she reminded him, "Twice and not to mention been on flights with Astrid and the twins."
"It's not the same Eira," he informed her, "A quick flight is completely different than riding on them for days at a time." Seeing her bow her head and hold back her tears made him feel awful, but he was right in this decision. He placed his hands on her shoulders and went to say something that could comfort her, but he was brushed off.
Instead, he was greeted by her cold eyes looking at him as she told him, "Then have fun on your trip." She pushed past him and out the door.
When it slammed shut it physically hurt him. Even Toothless was hurt by the sound and sadly warbled out to the already fleeting lady. The rider place a hand on his head and tried to reassure the lizard and himself. "She'll be okay Bud. She just needs some time." After that, he started to get ready. He just hoped that she could forgive him when they returned. He also hoped that it was a short and easy trip too, but in all Hiccup fashion, it wouldn't be.
