Once we ported back to the Beta Drome I rolled my eyes at Tom who barely managed to hold in his laughter. "Wow never seen anyone react like that." He teased and I snorted, walking over to an empty table before I sat.
"I bet you would have reacted the same way the first time you met Maxxor in Perim, Tom." I shot back as Tom joined me which caused me to roll my eyes for a second time. "Anyway, now that I have a scan of Intress I want to battle. How about a one-on-one match?"
"My Maxxor against your Intress? You're on, Ashley." Tom agreed and I grinned at him, waiting patiently as he walked away to book a drome leaving me alone. At least until I heard a familiar voice and I looked up when Kaz waved at me, walking over as I leaned back in my chair.
"Hey, Ashley how did the trip to Kiru City go?" Kaz asked once he joined me and I just held up my scanner, showing him my new scan of Intress. "Nice so when are you going to have your first drome battle?"
"As soon as Tom gets back. I've never been in a drome battle before though." I admitted and Kaz leaned forward not hiding a smile. "Okay, what's so funny now?"
"I don't want to ruin the surprise but let's just say battling here's a whole different game," Kaz explained and I frowned at him, tapping my fingers on the table. "Trust me it's more fun to see it for yourself."
Shaking my head I decided to wait until Tom returned but as the minutes dragged on I found myself wondering just what exactly I'd talked myself into. When Tom finally returned I let out a breath trying not to show how nervous I was as I climbed from my seat.
"Okay, so the match's in ten minutes, Ashley. Are you nervous about your first Beta Drome match?" Tom asked and I shook my head though when Kaz and Tom saw me gripping the table they laughed. "You'll be fine, Ashley. I was nervous the first time but I'm sure you'll do great."
"Well, I guess it is my first time in Chaotic. Still, I don't expect you to take it easy on me." I replied once I managed to pull my hands free. "Come on, you have to tell me what this big secret about battling here," I added as Tom led me towards the Beta Drome and Tom chuckled making me slightly annoyed. "Alright, so I guess I'll find out when we start the match."
Standing in the Beta Drome I waited as Tom walked to the other side, taking out his scanner and once I copied him Tom grinned at me. "Dock your scanner just like I'm doing." He explained, giving me a grin when I raised an eyebrow at him. "Trust me."
As I followed Tom every step of the way I began to question what exactly this big secret Kaz mentioned. "Got your deck locked in?" Tom's voice shook me from my thoughts and I quickly nodded, hoping he wouldn't notice how confused I looked. "Okay, so it's my Maxxor vs your Intress. Ready?" He asked me and I nodded, touching the image of Intress. As a strange light engulfed me I gasped my sneakers replaced by paws and once the light vanished I stared at myself, turning around as I found myself transformed into Intress. "Let's get Chaotic!"
I had barely gotten over my shock at finding myself as my favorite Overworlder when I heard laughter and I looked around finding Maxxor staring at me. "Yeah it's kind of a shock isn't it?" Maxxor laughed and when I stared at him blankly he grinned. "You're still you in case you're curious but in a Chaotic battle, you become the creature. Cool huh?"
"Heh, cool doesn't even begin to describe it," I answered, giving Maxxor/Tom a slow grin before I raised my paws. "Vine Snare!" I yelled, sending them at Maxxor/Tom who leaped to one side and the vines smacked into the ground.
"Hey, that wasn't fair!" Maxxor/Tom called out and I grinned at him, stretching my limbs as he narrowed his eyes. "Still I guess you did say not to go easy on you. Rock Wave!" He yelled and I yelped, knocked off my feet as the earth sent me flying. When I landed hard on my back Maxxor/Tom winced running a hand through his hair as I struggled to my feet.
"Geeze you don't take it easy do you? Well neither do I! Rock Wave!" This time I caught him off guard and as Maxxor/Tom ended up knocked off his own feet this time I reacted before he could. "Vine Snare!" Grabbing him in Intress' vines I slammed Maxxor/Tom into the ground as hard as I could.
"Fair's fair, Ashley!" Maxxor/Tom grunted, breaking free before he countered with his own Vine Snare. Even though I was still shaking off the shock of actually becoming Intress I still put up a good fight, at least I thought so though Tom did end up winning the match leaving me a little bummed about the whole thing.
"Hey you did awesome for a newbie," Peyton announced and I grinned, feeling a little better as I sipped at my mango smoothie.
"I wonder how my other self's reacting to all this. Oh yeah, I need to port back first right?" I answered and my new friends nodded. After I waved goodbye to them Tom led me around Chaotic. The moment we arrived back at the teleport pads I used one hoping that my other self in the real world wasn't going to throw out the scanner as Tom did. At least that's what he and Kaz told me after I first ported to Chaotic.
While my other self was in Chaotic I sat back as Kaz and Tom grinned at me, trying to take in everything they told me. "You know that is the craziest story I've heard so far. Chaotic's a card game….as far as I know." I answered after some careful thought.
"Once that button on the top of your scanner beeps press it and you'll understand everything," Kaz said, watching on as my scanner started to beep and I looked down at it in time to see the button on the very top glowing. "Right on time."
Chewing my lower lip I breathed out, pressing the button and after a few seconds, my eyes widened as the day's events in Chaotic flashed through my head. "Whoa….just whoa. Perim actually exists? Wild." I muttered, looking at my scanner like it was going to burst into flames any second.
"Exactly. Pretty cool isn't it?" Tom asked me and I broke into a smile already looking forward to my next venture into Chaotic and Perim.
