After my first trip to Chaotic and Perim, I couldn't wait to travel there again. Thankfully the next day was Saturday which left an entire day for me to do nothing except port to Chaotic and maybe even see my friends there again. Porting to Chaotic I soon found Peyton and Sarah sitting at a table and after I walked over I noticed that Kaz and Tom weren't there.
"Good morning. Didn't think you'd be here this early." Peyton commented, chuckling when I gave him a blank stare. "Tom told me you're not a morning person."
"Wait, how does he know that?" I asked, looking at Sarah who shrugged just as lost as I took a seat at their table. "Never mind it doesn't matter anyway. I was supposed to meet him and Kaz here but I guess I'm too early."
"Actually they left a few minutes ago, something about getting some battle gear scans," Sarah explained and I pinched the bridge of my nose hurrying towards one of the teleport pads with a frown on my face.
"That was interesting. Wonder why she's so mad?" Peyton answered as they watched me using one of the teleport pads to port into Perim.
I can't believe they left without me. Telling me to meet them in Chaotic and then ditching me. Hmph well, I can get my own scans.
Deciding that I could do it on my own I ported to the Forest of Life first, keeping my eyes open for Staluk who I knew would be a great scan for my online deck. It took some patience but when I heard snorting I grinned, ducking behind a tree as I grabbed my scanner out of my pocket.
As soon as I heard hoof-beats I peered out in time to see Staluk gallop past and as soon as he passed me I held up my scanner focusing on getting a scan of the Overworlder. Just as my scan came through he slowed, his eyes searching the area and I quickly ducked behind the tree hoping he couldn't see me. After a few seconds he galloped directly past me and I let out a breath moving past the tree but as I started to walk in the opposite direction Staluk reared up and I swallowed, freezing as he turned around.
Seeing him staring at me I ran immediately hearing his hoof-beats as he charged after me, chasing me around the forest until I found myself at the edge of a waterfall. Hearing him getting closer I gripped my scanner tightly in one hand and with no choice, I dived into the water just as Staluk caught up with me and he reared frustrated as I landed with a loud splash. Treading water I coughed, wiping my face as the Overworlder dashed away.
"Well, at least I got a scan of him before he trampled me into dust," I muttered as I climbed out of the lake only to discover that the water had damaged the scan of Staluk and I groaned sitting on a nearby rock to dry my scanner and my wet clothes. "That was a bust. Maybe I should have traded for a scan instead."
"You know Staluk really hates it when someone scans him without asking, Ashley," Tom said, walking out of the bushes with Kaz at his side the latter with a grin on his face and I narrowed my eyes.
"You could have mentioned that earlier, Tom. Also, I thought we were supposed to meet up in Chaotic, not Perim." I pointed out and Tom blinked as I squeezed the water out of my jacket. "You forgot didn't you?"
"Of course he did, Ashley. If he'd know you were trying to get a scan of Staluk Tom would have warned you about his temper." Kaz answered and Tom nodded, looking a little surprised when I grinned.
"Okay, then to make it up to me you're going to get me a new creature scan. Hopefully, one that doesn't mind too much about being scanner like Staluk." I told Tom and Kaz and the latter grinned, shaking his head as Tom just nodded at me.
"Can't. I have a drone battle in," Kaz checked his watch, "in about fifteen minutes so I'd better go. Thanks for the help, Tom. See you later." As soon as he ported out I crossed my arms one eyebrow raised at Tom who grinned back at me.
"Sorry I forgot all about helping you track down some new creature scans. Tell you what, how would you like to meet Mezzmar?" He offered and I nodded, looking forward to getting a new creature for my online that hopefully wouldn't chase me down.
Porting to Lake Ken-I-Po I waited for Tom who ported in seconds after me, nodding towards the lake. After staring at it for a few minutes I looked back at Tom who grinned at me standing at the edge of the lake. A little confused I walked over standing beside my friend who stared over the water looking around before he pointed to something off in the distance.
"I can seeā¦.something but what does that have to do with Mezzmar?" I asked, getting an answer almost immediately when something leaped out of the lake drenching me, and Tom the latter laughing as an Overworlder I'd never seen stared at me from the lake's edge. "Oh very funny, Tom," I grumbled, wiping water from my face and eyes a second time as the blue creature looked towards Tom who leaned close enough to fist bump his friend.
"Ashley, I'd like you to meet Mezzmar. Mezzmar, this is Ashley a new Chaotic player I recently met. She'd like to get a scan of you if that's alright." Tom explained and after a pause Mezzmar nodded, looking towards me as I quickly lifted my scanner. After leaving Mezzmar to patrol the lake I followed Tom, my attention shifting to my new scan from time to time.
"At least Mezzmar didn't mind getting scanned, unlike Staluk," I commented and Tom chuckled, porting back to Chaotic with me before we headed over to watch Kaz's match.
"Yeah I know, Ashley. I should have warned you but Kaz wanted to get a scan of some new battle gear for his match and I rushed out so quickly I forgot all about helping you." Tom apologised, sitting beside Peyton and Sarah and I just shrugged looking up to watch the match. It took me longer than I wanted to admit before I figured out that Kaz was using Chaor against Arias though when I saw Chaor with Xield I frowned wondering how Kaz would have two creatures out.
"Xield counts as a creature and battle gear so he can be played as either, Ashley," Sarah explained once she noticed me looking lost and I nodded, hoping no one else saw how confused I looked as Chaor blocked using Xield as a shield, stopping Aria's charge before Chaor threw the Overworlder into the air.
"Torrent of flame!" Chaor/Kaz yelled out, striking Arias and I cheered as Arias ended up coded. As Kaz and his opponent shook hands I smiled to myself liking that show of good sportsmanship. Once Kaz joined us, taking a seat beside me I high-fived him having enjoyed the tail end of his match.
"Okay, that was cool. I kind of missed most of your match, Kaz but Chaor vs Arias was awesome." I commented as one of the bots flew over. Peyton ordered a pizza for the five of us and as the bot flew away I leaned back in my chair. "Oh but before I forget I managed to get a cool scan of Mezzmar. Tom's the one who introduced us." I added, showing everyone the scan of my newest Overworlder.
"I met Sarah and Mezzmar on the same day I ported to Chaotic and helped him against Nauthilax. That's actually the day we met Najarin." Tom explained and my eyes widened making my new friends laugh at the expression on my face.
"Then Tom tried to scan Najarin. Big mistake." Sarah added and I snorted as Tom rolled his eyes at Sarah. "Still I managed to get a scan of Mezzmar after waiting all night so it was worth it."
The day flew by as I spent time porting between Perim and Chaotic, getting some new location scans. I eventually ported back home, spending some time online checking out as much information about battlegear and creatures as I could before my next trip.
