Despite being eleven to Harry's seven, they were good friends. Harry read the letter. Mercy had been settling into her new boarding school, with a change of scenery needed after the unfortunate death of her stepmother Lillian. She passed away two years ago and Mercy had grown a bit distant to her brother and father. "Not sure when I'll come back, but I'll stay in touch. I'll try to keep you posted if anything changes."
Harry smiled. Despite Jonathan Kent's light disapproval of all things Luthor, Harry had been friends with Mercy (he had visions of a red haired young woman with his eyes), a blue eyed red haired girl, and also Lex, a bit. Lex had changed after the death of his mother. Then moving to Metropolis. Harry remembered Lex's mother as being very aloof towards the end. The green-eyed youth had been observant for his age. Almost too observant as it turned out.
Harry closed his eyes. Bits and pieces of a past life flickered in. A life with a childhood far grimmer than the happy one Harry now had. He just chalked these off to a very bad dream about a past life. Having the name Potter and the things in the dreams, did give him a few valuable lessons; he held onto them. Namely, the ability to fine tune his senses. Out in the wind, Harry heard a cry for help. "HELP ME!" Harry heard his neighbor, Lana Lang out in the distance. And her friend, Emily Dinsmore. They were drowning by the sounds of their voices.
In a pop, Harry had located them and appeared in a blink of an eye. Lana just barely pulled herself out. However, Emily was about ready to drown. In an instant, Harry slowed down time and sped towards Emily. Harry yanked Emily out of the water just before she was pulled under, her eyes seemed locked to his. The two fifth grade girls had been very shaken. "Emily, you're okay! Oh, thank God."
"Yeah! I guess I am. It looked like an Angel that saved me!"
"I don't know, if it was, we must be careful who we tell." Lana said with just a smile. She was so happy. Emily was alive. Therefore, she decided to not be the skeptic on this one. After all, it was Smallville, anything was possible. 'An Angel?'
Harry pondered recent events. He could finish the chores at the Farm in an instant, but he took his time, this allowed him to think. With Harry's powers growing, his parents sat him down and had a talk with Harry about being careful. Especially about when Harry saved Emily from drowning a few months ago. Jonathan was hoping that Harry could have a normal life, but given what Harry was, there was no such thing as normal. They make up a white cloth mask. This would possibly save him from being photographed or recognised.
Martha was a bit more reasonable with her words. She encouraged Harry to be careful with who he shared his gifts with. Harry understood this more than anyone. Given back to the Potter's life, there was always mass hysteria over magic, speaking to snakes, the dead not being so. Harry could only imagine how people would react to someone with his abilities.
Harry had learned he could jump extremely high. He kept getting higher and further. After Harry wrapped up his chores, he would move to a secluded field. He could teleport to many places, but Harry was fatigued every time he did it. Although less so with each practice. He constantly wore the cloth mask.
Everything had been wrapped up. Harry vanished in a blink of an eye and stood outside of the field. The wind blew in Harry's eyes. He took a deep breath and started to run the length of the field. Harry picked up a lot of momentum and jumped. He turned in the air and blasted himself forward. Harry went as fast as possible. He wondered how far he could go.
With a loud thump, Harry landed on the ground in the midst of a driveway. Harry had rode his bike down this before, Doctor Danvers was here. "Your landing could be a bit more graceful." Harry freaked and stumbled a step, then fell to the ground. "Are you okay?"
A dark-haired girl around Harry's age rushed towards him. She extended a hand and Harry took it. He tried to change his voice and growled "Yes, I'm fine, just a little bit bruised."
"Yeah, I'd say." Harry's pant leg was torn from the landing. "You should get that checked out," she said. "My mom's a doctor, and she won't say anything. She works with people like you every day." This led him to thoughts of Runes that protected clothes.
"I'm not sure if there's anything like me."
"Oh, there's a lot of people! You know, when the meteors rained down, a lot of people changed. Although, I'm not supposed to say that, but if you're gifted, that's okay! It's who you are, you know?"
Harry just shrugged. He was going to take her word for it. "I'm Alex by the way. Alex Danvers." He thought a second, then realised he was wearing his Kent Bakery T-shirt. He definitely needed to have a change of clothes with him."You must be Harry Kent."
"I swear he just fell out of the sky right in front of me! Then he took his mask off after I told him I knew who he had to be."
Harry got a good look at Alex's mother, Mona (Monica), and it floored him how much she looked like his other life birth mother, Lily. Granted, there were a couple of differences but the resemblance was uncanny to say the least. "Doctor Danvers?" Mona turned her attention to Harry. She appeared to be studying him good and hard. "Just sit down. I'm going to call your parents and take a good look at you again."
Harry directed his attention to Alex who just shrugged. "So, how did you first discover it? What kind of powers do you have? How far can you really jump? Did you mean to crash in front of my house?"
"Alexandra!"
Mona looked at her daughter, who gave her a sheepish smile. "I called your parents. They'll be over soon. Martha was relieved that we found you."
Harry had more questions, but perhaps now was not the time. Mona checked over Harry for a few seconds. "Nothing is broken or bruised."
"So, you can heal too?" Alex asked before Mona gave her "the mom" stare. "Just asking Mom, okay?"
Harry waited as Mona walked off. He looked around the room and looked at Alex. "So, your mother studies the gifted? I've been here three times that I know of, but never saw you."
"Oh! Yes, she runs her own clinic. There's a lot of kids up there, and adults too that got their powers. Maybe I can show it to you sometime?"
"Maybe, but where were you the times I was here?" Harry offered. "I don't think I jumped. I think that I can fly."
Alex's eyebrows raised up. She went from frowning at his question, to positively giddy at his statement. She was being a Nerd, as the saying went. "Oh, really, that's so cool!"
"I have to be careful though. Can't tell too many people. So, keep it a secret. Alright?"
Alex made the lip zipping motion. The two entered a discussion about comic books and superheroes, until the Martha showed up at the door. "Looks like your mom is having a talk with my Mom," Alex said.
"Martha, I told you before, I'm all about discretion. Although, Harry's reaching the age where he's coming into his powers. They often flare up in strange ways when someone hits puberty."
"Oh, no, you're going to get the talk," Alex teased him. Harry just lightly tapped her on the shoulder, pointing at the phone. Alex grabbed a small pad and wrote down her number. "Okay, call me sometime, and maybe we can hang out?" Alex gazed into Harry's beautiful green eyes for a few more seconds and Harry just smiled.
"I'll call you," Harry said. "And don't worry, I won't jump halfway across the county next time and scare you."
"I was lucky, I know."
Time Passes: They go from age ten to age fourteen.
Alex and Harry had become close friends. While Harry had the support of his parents, and also Alex's mother, he did enjoy someone his own age who he could share his secret to. "High school level courses when you're in Junior High?" Alex asked. "Careful, you'll have a doctorate before you're a Freshman."
Harry sighed. "I've still got a ways to go before I beat that girl in Central City!"
"Yeah but that is because her dad is a certified genius of telecommunications."
Harry and Alex looked down at Smallville. They had packed a picnic lunch, before hiking up the one mountain near Smallville. More than a few guys, teased him about Alex being his girlfriend. Right now, they were close friends. Alex had grown up into being a very attractive fifteen year old. "I swear, Martha makes the best meals." Alex said as she ate a great egg salad and bacon sandwich.
"That she does!" Harry told her. "I've been doing a lot of thinking about a number of things. I've been piecing together some of my dreams and thoughts. I've come to..., you're going to have a tuff time believing it." Alex leaned in and put her head on his shoulder.
"Harry. Given what I've seen you do, there's not a lot, I'll disbelieve. So go ahead and tell me. I can take it."
"Well, I'm not from this world. But, that's not all. I wasn't even born in this universe. I mean, I've had a past life." Alex arched her eyebrow like Spock did in Star Trek.
Harry explained it to Alex. She just put a hand underneath her chin and thought about it. "So you are like an Alternate dimension Captain Kirk?" Harry shrugged.
"So, I guess that would make me your yeoman or Lt. Uhura?" Alex said. Harry smiled.
"It's strange. I'm guessing the Deathly Hallows canceled out whatever that Anti-Matter Wave that destroyed Harry Potter's world did. It just rebooted me to a different life. I know it's absurd and unprecedented, but from what I've remembered from my life as Harry, that's just how it went for him. Same for me."
Alex just had to smile at Harry's state of befuddlement. She finished the sandwich. "I can show you if you don't believe me."
"Harry, trust me. I believe you. When we're older, we will see about marriage and children. I'm fairly sure I love you, but we are too young right now." Harry blushed a deep red.
"Still, I've been working on some things." Harry picked up what appeared to be an ordinary rock. Alex watched him carve some strange symbols into it with his finger. "Runes, they allow me to store energy in my body. I have careful carved a few into places most will never see. I've been trying to figure out how to disable the green rocks. It seems to work as long as I'm under the sun, even holding a green rock."
Harry had heard about it from Mona, how there was a time, when you could not walk ten steps, in Smallville without tripping over a meteor rock. There were a lot of people affected. Some received powers. Many were not so lucky and suffered a cancerous death.
"I haven't told this to my parents yet. Guess, it's easier telling my best friend than my parents."
"I'm sure you'll find a way!" Said Alex as she gently hugged him.
Because of the runes and magic, he will need at least five girls to be satisfied, during sex. So Alex, Kara, Zatara, Mercy, Emily and maybe Lana.
