He, Yuma Tsukumo, sat on the sofa of the old man he had come to know as Solomon Muto, talking on the phone. He fidget on the seat and shakes his feet, itching to move. He reached for the cup of tea instead. It tasted like plain hot water, too little tea leaves left to stew for too little time.
"Tea isn't just hot leaves water, dear."
Yuma paused at the memory, not recalling who exactly said it but knew it made his chest warm and his heart ached.
This filled him with questions that he had no answer to. Who was it that said those words? Were they important to him? (and he, them?). For that matter, although he knew he was Yuma Tsukumo, but what did it mean to be Yuma Tsukumo? How did one Yuma Tsukumo-ed?
As these questions plagued the boy, on the other side of the room, Solomon Muto was finishing up his phone call.
"...And that should erase any loose ends. I'll call doctor Takahashi for the rest of the paperwork."
The voice on the other side of the line scoffed. "You're lucky I give senior discount."
"Indeed." Solomon laughed. "How else will I be able to enroll my new waes in school without all those IDs?"
"Speaking of payment, that rare card that you hav-"
"Oh, would you look at the time? Bye now." WIth that he quickly hang up the phone and turned to his new ward. "Let's get you to your room."

Having a child was an expensive matter. That much Solomon knew (back then it was 3 adults supporting an upcoming newborn). But Solomon had a savings account waiting to be used and buying the necessity for a child he just, essentially randomly, took in would be well spent.
Yuma followed him closely as they shopped around, wide eyes darting around the street taking in all the colorful shops and people while they walked around like a puppy. It was equally adorable and saddening to Solomon at how even the simplest thing sparks fascination from Yuma.
The boy was especially curious with the streetside duel. His steps slowed as he caught two boys his age duke it out with samurais and hippos.
Perhaps not all of Yuma's memories were as forgotten as Doctor Takahashi made it out to be, Solomon mused.
He went over the shopping list. Clothes and extra groceries had come in hefty bags within Yuma's hands. There were still some little things they needed to get. And one thing in particular that was on the top of Solomon's list. "Come now, Yuma. There's this shop we must visit."
Kame Game was Solomon's little treasure. A symbol of goodwill between him and the son he had disconnected. It was not as high tech as the other store but it was theirs his. Still it was small so Solomon had to pick and choose what he sold. For all that he loved Duel Monster, an old man like him was not equip to handle the intricate machinery of a Duel Disk.
There were stars in Yuma's eyes when Solomon showed him the Duel Disk displace case in the mall shop. Solomon kept up with the game enough to know that Yuma would not have any fun with the old model Duel Disk he had.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" He smiled, gently patting Yuma's back. "Go pick out one."
It did not surprise Solomon in the slightest when Yuma pickout a red Duel Disk. Even less when he accepted the clerk challenge to a test duel.
Finding a nearby chair, Solomon sat as he watched with great amusement at the silly little duel when suddenly there was a shift in the air. The clerk called out an Xyz monster and Yuma froze. His move became cautious but the high energy lasted.
"Baby Tiragon, consume one overlay material and help Gagaga Magician end the duel!"
[Baby Tiragon/EARTH/Dragon/Rank 1/DEF:900]
[Gagaga Magician/DARK/Spellcaster/Lv4-Lv1/ATK: 15002000]
The adorable little monster bite down on a glowing ball before growing to a form big enough for his comrade to climb on. Wonder Wand within Gagaga Magician's hand brought down onto the clerk's head and earning Yuma's victory.
Solomon pretended he didn't see Yuma sneakily hold out his hand nor did he acknowledge the card that seemingly materialized within his hand. Yuma turned to him, his face was lighter and there was more spring to his steps. Solomon waved the strangest away and together they went home.

"President, the Xyz signal appeared again."
Reiji Akaba looked up. "Did we managed to track it this time?"
"Yes sir. It appears to be from a newly purchased Duel Disk."
Reiji Akaba looked att the info on the screen with a raised brow. "Yuma Tsukumo, just moved into Maiami a week ago, no immediate family except for his grandfather. One duel to his record." Reiji's eyes narrowed. "Strange. We'll keep an eye on this Yuma Tsukumo."
