Tanjiro P.O.V.
I was opening my eyes to find myself lying in a futon, as I looked around to find myself in the same room. Yusuke insisted to have me stay over even though I felt incredibly guilty that he was letting us stay for so long, and lord who knows how long Nezuko stayed here. His mother was very polite, and not the fact that she drinks and smokes a lot. As I sat up, I crawled out of my futon to change into new casual clothes that I decided to head out while leaving a small note for them until I get caught up with the others.
When I left the apartment to look around the city, I just sensed something was completely off and I can't describe this weird feeling. So, I headed to the east side to see what else was going on, but my stomach started to rumble when I looked around to find someplace to grab some grub. There was a small restaurant nearby, so I went over to order myself a bowl of Odon in a cup. As I went over to take a seat on the bench and pray for my meal before I started eating.
"I didn't expect to see you around." I heard a blunt tone caught my attention as I looked up to see that it was Hiei taking a seat next to me.
"Good morning to you too, Hiei." I greeted in a very cheerful tone. He responded in a low grunt in return as I scoop up another noodle with the chopsticks into my mouth. "I thought you weren't going to be around the city after you left yesterday. Are you still upset about last night?"
Hiei scanned my face for a second and faced down saying, "Why does that bother you? I am the one that is upset about that"
I shrugged my shoulders, "I just wanted to know how you were feeling about being a B rank. I didn't think it would hurt you that much considering that you were strong from the way I've watched you." My eyes went back to my bowl as I slurp down more noodles. Hiei only lets out a grunt folding his arms over his chest.
"You're just trying to cheer me up." He scoffed.
"No, I am being honest. In fact, Nezuko did say you were an amazing swordsman to kill any demon for any potential reason."
I wasn't trying to hide any emotion that I wanted to get along with the demon since he doesn't seem like the ones back in my world. Hard to say that he and Kurama must have been through a lot in the past that they don't want to share anything with anyone.
"Say what you want about me. I may have the intentions of killing anything besides a demon." Hiei said as I narrowed my eyes over at him.
"You wouldn't...would you?" I merely asked.
"If it's for the sake of you worthless humans. I would." His response was a little blunt at the end. He didn't care about humans and he sure didn't seem happy about it either.
I decided to stay quiet after finishing my meal and asked, "What do demons have against humans?" Only I was curious to wonder what demons had against humans if we have done something terribly wrong to anger them. I shouldn't even consider worrying about a demon, but if I want to know the full history of a demon then I want to know.
"Why do you want to know what demons have against humans?" He asked.
I stole one glance from him responding, "Because I want to know why it angers you for anything we've done to anger you." My head laid low as I play with the hem of my coat wrapped around my waist feeling my earrings gently slap across my face.
"You want to know why demons hate humans? Because your weak, stupid, no heart or soul to either penetrate us and force one of us demons to become your slaves. Humans should not exist in this world for the crucial efforts they put on us." Hiei was very tactful about what demons viewed as humans that were slightly true about them.
Tanjiro sighs, "Not every human is that crucial in this world." He closed his eyes and slowly reopens them, "You have to understand about the faculty this world has brought us in whether it isn't perfect. I understand what you feel against us, and you have the right to be angry." I stared into Hiei's red eyes showing a sign of sadness, anger, and loneliness. "I can sense that you've must have been through a rough ride for your life by stepping into the world. Didn't you?"
"What does that have to do with anything of this?" He bitterly asked.
"I have a good sense of smell." I pointed at him keeping my eyes at him, "You have some flaws in your life. So have I and everyone else whether we have to face the great or good right?" Hiei's eyes slightly widen that I was speaking out in my own words about what I feel around the world. He's right about the world not being anywhere near perfect because we've faced some difficulties.
"...What flaws have you ever faced? Aren't you a swordsman yourself out to kill demons?" He mocked.
I merely nodded, my eyes shifted upward at the sky as I said, "I have some flaws in my life where it ended crucially. My family was murdered except for Nezuko, she was alive and before I knew it...she became a demon. I happen to find out that she didn't kill them when someone came into our home and murdered them one by one." I clenched my fist to reverence the whole story because I don't know if he or the others learned the whole side story by Nezuko. Yusuke told me that he felt sorry about my sister becoming who she is-it may only feel reassuring, but trust me it isn't. "Nezuko wouldn't hurt a human and you know that too, right?"
Hiei stared at me for a moment as squinted his eyes at me before softening his expression. "No. She doesn't hurt a human."
I faintly smiled, "I know. Because Nezuko knows not to harm any good humans-she treats them like they are our family." I looked away for a while waiting for Hiei to say anything, but I decided to continue, "It's sad when I say this out loud. Nezuko may not hurt or eat a human because since she became one, I lost her scent of smell and it was never the same. We both are together...a bond...and we especially have each other back whatever demon might cross our way." I glanced over at Hiei forming a small smile on my lips, "...Of course, there are some good or neutral demons as well out there."
The moment I was about to respond, Hiei stands up as I tilted my head to the side, "You think I would consider this pragmatic belief your speaking about "us" demons?" He turned halfway towards me as his lips curved into a small grin. "I'll have you know that I am not the type of demon that you would want to be around."
I held a poker face expression before an idea popped into my head, "Is that so? Why not prove it to me." I narrowed my eyes as I stood up walking over to him standing face to face not too close due to me being a bit taller than he was since he was a little short. "I want to spar with you? Let me test one of your movements and intelligence to see how well you can push yourself."
He stared at me for a moment, "You? Challenge against me?" He clicks his tongue as I snapped my fingers with a huge grin on my face.
"Or we can do a coin flip. Heads if I win you will have to spar against me to demonstrate what your motives and strength abilities are." I smirked as he didn't phase through this bet as I pulled out a coin from inside my pocket. "If it lands on tails then you can choose whatever you want to do with me."
"I don't take orders from you especially if they were from a human." He spat.
I roll my eyes sighing, "It's called a bet and I'm not demanded you to do anything. I just simply want to get to know you, the same like Nezuko did." My lips were formed into a curvy smile as he gave me a side-eye.
"...Whatever. Just flip that damn coin." He huffed.
I nodded, as I flipped the coin forgetting about my strength causing it to fly up too high. As I waited for it to come down, I saw it still flipping as I caught it as landed on the back of my palm. Hiei came over to see what it landed on and to my utter astonishment, it heads!
"Hah! I guess heads wins." I chuckled.
Hiei let out a small huff, "Just follow me if you want to find out where we're going to be sparing." I didn't let my smile fall as I followed him to where we will spar to get away from the crowd. I wonder how Nezuko is doing?
Nezuko P.O.V.
Yusuke and I were in groups with Genkai, Yanagisawa, and Kida were going with us. My brother left a note saying he will be out and I was a little happy to see him helping us through this. We continued to search for the psychic around the city to see if he was anywhere near where we can find him.
The first of the seven psychics appear in Club Mahjong, a gambling establishment. But we are unable to identify who it is specifically until he reveals himself to us as Murota with a chuckle. He takes the group by surprise when he seems to possess knowledge of the soon-to-be-completed demon world tunnel the group is trying to locate. In truth, he was completely clueless about the crisis and, presumably, the origin of his powers. Murota appears as a tall, middle-aged man with short, dark brown hair cut in a flat-top style. In the manga, he wears a long-sleeved, shirt with a flower theme tucked into his baggy, blue dress slacks. In the anime, however, he wears a plain pink turtleneck. Also, he sports a pair of dark dress shoes and a white belt with a gold belt buckle. Yusuke answers Murota's taunts and beats his thought reading power by utilizing the shockwave from a right jab at 30% power to level the older man. While he's temporarily incapacitated, Mitsunari Yanagisawa uses his copy technique to confirm that Murota is innocent, "just a regular guy" who doesn't know anything. When he comes to, Murota allies with the Spirit Detective and offers his assistance to the group. In the middle of town, Murota employs his "Wiretap" ability after being instructed to relay any suspicious thoughts he might hear. He is shown to be a closet pervert when he gets sidetracked by random thoughts, before honing in on the dark, sinister mind of one Shinobu Sensui. He comments on the intensity and loudness of Sensui's thoughts, overwhelmed with anxiety and fear, having never heard anything like it. Shortly after describing Sensui to the group, he is struck in the forehead by a pencil eraser fired telekinetically by Kaname Hagiri. To passersby, it initially seemed as if Murota was killed by a gunshot. In actuality, he is unconscious, but still alive. Accordingly, he is subsequently rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
After coming around, he describes the details of Sensui's thoughts which he overheard and is still haunted by. After prompted, he gives the names of the members of Sensui's Seven and begins to second guess his decision to get involved in the cause on behalf of the Human World, as he's horrified by his epiphany regarding Sensui. Soon after recovering from his injuries, he and Yanagisawa are among the first victims of the Doctor's virus, although he is shown to be able to resist its effects to some degree. I was growing concerned about what the Doctor had other things in mind if we're here together.
Ironically, as a doctor, he developed the power to save those who would otherwise die, but he instead chose to use his gifts to kill. The doctor is one of the cruelest characters in the series. He paralyzed Asato Kido's spine, as well as attempted to murder an entire hospital full of patients and workers. Minoru believed that the human race was diseased, and therefore fully devoted himself to destroying his species. He also didn't seem to mind at all that he may also be killed by the demons he would unleash on the Earth. He was also not above lying to his opponents in battle to lure them into a false sense of security.
In his fight with Yusuke, he claimed the killing was "like a narcotic," and he needed to continuously kill to block out the feelings of guilt. This suggests he may not have been as heartless as he appeared and may explain why he renounced his murderous ways. He seemed fond of his ally, Sniper (enough to heal the other man when Doctor found him unconscious), and apparently respected Yusuke's team. He commented after examining Sniper's wound that he didn't think Sensui could beat them, though it is unclear if he was impressed with Hiei's skill, his resolve not to kill unnecessarily, or both.
Back with Tanjiro who was panting tiredly, he was slightly amused by the fire demons' motivations of his fighting skills. He was eager to know more about him if he was willing to share any of his prior instincts of
"You're amazing. I never knew you could take me on that easily." Tanjiro faintly smiled.
"You need to push yourself further if you're going to take me down that easily," Hiei says, he put his sword away and Tanjiro follows suit.
The human boy glanced over at the demon, "You need to teach me more about how to use your sword to move that fast. Your incredible."
"Hn, what makes you think I want to teach you any of my moves?"
Tanjiro smiled, "Just to help me move more around and to breathe." He replied as the demon arched an eyebrow at him.
"What are these breathing techniques you kept muttering under your breath during the sparring session?" Hiei inquired.
"The breathing technique is the most powerful breath style in all of Demon Slayer history. We use it as a special move to fight against demons that terrorize humans, but I have concurred with some of the techniques like fire and water. It's strange." Tanjiro explained to the fire demon as he tries to clarify his way of demonstrating the art of a demon slayer uses their sword.
'Fire?' Hiei deeply thought as he remembered back at the tournament 2 months from now after it ended. He watched Nezuko used his sword to use some kind of martial art technique to spawn a fire dragon that came out of the sword.
'Could that be the demon slayer technique she used to fight demons?' Hiei thought.
"But I am willing to learn any skill that you can teach me. Which I can use your help since you develop fire if it helps." Tanjiro insistingly wanted to learn how to use fire from a demon swordsman.
Hiei glanced at him in the corner of his eye facing him halfway, "You want me to teach you?"
"If it helps that would be more helpful," Tanjiro said.
"I'll consider it."
Tanjiro smiled as he walked over to give him a head pat making the demon growl a little. Only Nezuko can give him those head pats since he grew comfortable to like them.
"I have a question. You have a sense of smell right?" Hiei asked.
"Hm? Yeah, what about it?" Tanjiro asked.
"What was Nezuko smell when she was once a human?" He asked.
Tanjiro looked over at the demon as he faced down at the ground, "A fragrance of a lily and chamomile flower that creates a young and adorable atmosphere." He told the fire demon as his eyes slightly widen in interest to learn about her.
"Hn, a delicate smell can carry the atmosphere of the kind of flower she is." Hiei faintly grinned to himself as the human boy stared at him.
"Yeah. I know."
Hiei says, "You should probably head back to the city, and I'm sure the others have found the psychics."
"Aren't you coming?" Tanjiro asked.
"No. I am in no need of anyone to help save the world. I don't care." He flatly responded to the boy as he turned his heel around to leave, "Just so we are clear...I insist to teach you how to use fire. But I don't initially want to help you or the others to save this world."
Tanjiro stood a little puzzle of the demon's response, but he couldn't force him to help them out with them. He might come to the rescue and join, but he will have to wait for what the demon will decide on the fate of the world.
