Chapter 13: The Storm

Beacon's underground facility was in utter chaos. The alarms screamed warnings and flickered red lights. James Ironwood and headmaster Ozpin were shouting commands left and right through their earpieces; both trying to get a hold of the situation.

Not but 5 minutes ago, a hole torn open outside of Beacon's perimeter; A hundred meters or so inside the emerald forest. Inside the rift, thousands of red eyes could be seen. Time seemed to froze when, on the many monitors of the research facility, a stampede charge towards Beacon.

James was the first one to snap out of his shock and went directly to earpiece; trying to coordinate best his troops and looking for the suitable deployment position on the academy. Ozpin, on the other hand, notified all the teachers in the about the situation and ordered them to take the necessary precautions. The white-haired man then turned towards Spider-man and Glynda, but they weren't there. He went for his earpiece

"Glynda, where are you?!"

There was a second or two of silence before there was any noise.

"I'm on my way to the academy! Peter is with me on the elevator" Came the professor's voice on the other end of the line.

"But-"

"We need a line of defense there, now! If what we saw is correct, the Grimm are going to go through Beacon Tower. You know what'll happen if that tower falls"

"….. Alright. I´ll sent reinforcements as soon as I can".

"Thanks. Don't keep us waiting".

"I'll try" .

"Hey Ozzy" This time, it was Spider-man's voice what came over the earpiece.

"Yes, Mr. Parker?"

"I think after this, I may deserve that coffee machine of yours, don't you think?"

Ozpin chuckled. "I'll see what I can do, keep me posted"

"You got it. Spidey and Glynda out". With that, the spider hung the call.

Ozpin stared at his scroll as the call ended. He closed his eyes and breathed. "Good luck"

The white-haired man opened his eyes again and dial a number on his scroll. "Professor Port; how is the evacuation of the staff going?"

From inside of the academy, in another underground room, was professor Peter Port, the History Professor of Beacon Academy "All non-combatants are being sent to their designated safe room. It's going to take sometime" Said the grizzly man.

"Ok…. Tell me as soon as you finish. Our mutual friend and professor Goodwitch are going to make time for us".

Spider-man and Glynda were just getting out of the facility an began running towards the academy.

"So, juts hypothetically" The arachnid began "What would happen if the Grimm get over the cliff and get to that big tower? Does everyone get bad Wi-Fi reception?"

"Worse" Glynda responded "If that tower falls, none of the other academies throughout the WORLD will be able to communicate with each other"

"What kind of idiot thought that was a good design idea!?"

"Will talk about it later, now take my hand!".

"I thought you would never ask!" Peter grabbed her hand with his cocky smile.

Glynda just smiled. She was actually starting to find him funny.

Similar to what happened during their first encounter, Glynda aimed her wand or rather riding crop down and her shoe and they began glowing. Immediately, Glynda took off to the sky while holding on to Peter.

"Don't worry I got you!" shouted Glynda.

"You got me? but Whose got you?!" Peter replied as they rose above the tress.

From there vantage point, they look behind them and saw how the dark green zone of the forest were the rift had opened was turning completely pitch black as hordes of Grimm were getting out and towards the academy. Both the professor and the hero looked at each other without saying a word.

"Screw it, I'm gonna ask for two coffee machines" Spider-man said

Glynda facepalmed herself. As much as she wished to let go of the idiot she had for a partner, the professor actually chuckled.

"One of those better be mine"

"Well of course my lady". Peter responded rather impressed for her response.

Glynda smiled. Though she wouldn't admit it, she felt a shiver, hearing those words.

Peter noticed this and was about to give a sassy comeback but his Spider-sense kicked in. Something was above them.

Looking up he could see some kind of huge aircraft in flames plummeting down.

"Glynda"

"Yes?"

"Wouldn't THAT happen to be the secure location little Jimmy was talking about….. would it?"

"What do you-" Glynda looked up "….shit".

Fire and noise. That was what the majority of the consciouspeople could feel at the Atlas aircraft. The last thing that the hunters in training and the Faunus group were aware of, was that the ship was coming down on Beacon Academy.

Maybe it was a moment of weakness or just the ability itself but as the fire engulfed everything on the aircraft Alina extended her arms to her sides and activated her semblance; surrounding everyone with her protective sphere. An explosion in the main entrance of the command center pushed the sphere against the lookout window, breaking it and throwing it out of the aircraft.

Alina was barely conscious. Her ears were ringing and probably bleeding as well. Still, she had to use all her will to keep up her protective barrier. Deep down however, she knew that even that would not be enough. The ground was slowly but surely coming their way. The redhead had to find a way to stop their descend. She had enough experience with her powers to know that her semblance wouldn't resist the impact. They had to do something quick or else, no one wouldn't survive. Yuri was unconscious next to her so she couldn't could on her partner's wind manipulation. None of the teens had a semblance that could softened their blow or slow their speed so they wouldn't be any good either.

-Damn it-

They were heading towards a small pack of trees coming their way. The redhead just resigned herself to close her eyes and wait for the clash. Suddenly she felt a sudden shake on her force field. Alina opened her eyes. Looking for the source of the motion, her eyes found a male-shaped body that seemed to have... stuck to her force filed?

The figured suddenly shouted "Glynda Now!"

Alina recognized the voice -Shit... It had to be them-

From outside the sphere, blue, energy -like tendrils emanated from Spider-man's hands and began to attach to the trees below and around them as the sphere sore through the air. The hero positioned himself to try to stop the sphere with his lower body. A technique he had experience with.

-Ok pain, do your worst!- Thought Spider-man as he hold the tendril with all his might.

The sphere reached ground level and it clashed with the ground. The tendrils stretched and tensed. Some of them even pulling out trees from their roots. And for the arachnid hero, well, let's just say than trying to be ripped in half wasn't anything new for him yet it didn't make it any more pleasant.

At the end, the sphere of energy stopped on the outside of one of the classroom buildings, leaving behind a 20-meter line of blown out dirt.

As the dust settled, the sphere was no more. All the students from Beacon and the Black Cats were on the ground, a little to the sides of the main crashing line. Some were starting to come to consciousness as a result of the sudden impact.

Glynda, who was floating near the now fallen trees, approached the wreckage. The first thing she heard were the groans and complains from everyone. Somehow, the students and the Black Cats had ended up separated from each other.

"Easy, easy" said Glynda as she got to the hunters in training to help them get back up. The first ones were Yang and Jaune.

The blonde brawler was holding her sides as she got on her feet and the blonde swordsman was holding her head.

"What…. What happened?" said Yang

"Well" said Glynda pushing her glasses a bit "It seems you really take my advice of resting to heart, didn't you Ms. Xia Long?"

Hearing those words, Yang's heart skipped a beat. The blonde almost wishes to have been knocked out. She couldn't do anything but chuckle nervously at the professor. Jaune, who at this point was well awake, tried not to produce a sound as all of his teacher's attention was currently on his friend.

"Don't think I haven't noticed you Mr. Arc" was Glynda's response.

Jaune just started to sweat cold.

As strict as Glynda usually was, she decided to take a step back and take a deep breath. "The consequences for your disobedience will be decided later. Now however, check on your teammates and keep an eye on them" said the professor nodding towards the Black Cats who were also getting up. "I'll go check on our arachnid friend"

Both Yang and Jaune nodded not really understanding how Spider-man fitted on all of this but hey, anything to get away from that glare right? Yang proceeded to help her little sister stand while Jaune went for Pyrrha and Weiss who were together.

As a result of his attempt to stop the movement of the force field, though successful, Spider-man was buried waist deep at the end of the crash line. -Well, it didn't hurt as much as last time- Peter thought as he was preparing to push himself out. Before he could do this, Glynda reached him.

"Are you ok?" said the blonde extending her hand.

"Yeah…." Said Peter talking her hand "I told you it would work, didn't I?"

"mhm" muttered Glynda helping him stand

"Hey, did you sent the message I asked you?"

"Yeah, but where did you-"

Suddenly the ground trembled as an explosion far behind them happened. Everybody turned and saw the ski behind the school building being engulfed by red and orange lights. The Atlas aircraft had crashed. Beacon Tower, that was somewhat visible from the perspective, seemed to be near the explosion.

"Oh yeah….. I forgot about Jimmy's plane" commented Peter "I'm gonna have to write a formal complaint for all the problems he is causing us".

Inevitably, Glynda glared at him.

Peter just winked at her

Th professor and the hero looked at each other in the eye and letting that little moment passed, but nodded -Time to regroup with the students- The pair quickly went towards the students who by this time, were all standing. However, they all had their weapons drawn towards the Black Cats.

This seemed to be special for Weiss, who was aiming her rapier towards Felicia. "I swear, you move as much as a finger, I'll-"

"You'll what?! Said Felicia back "Will you execute me as your bloody family has done to so many of us?!"

Weiss' finger was tightening slightly around her weapon's trigger but before she could do anything stupid, a wall of stone appeared between them.

"Stand down Ms. Schnee" said Glynda on one side.

"Ok, we have to stop meeting like this Felicia" said Spider-man in the other. "Now given the situation we are in, we all have to play as a big family" continued Peter as Glynda nodded the student to calm down. She then lowered the wall.

"I'll be the handsome and wisecracking father who works hard all day and somehow still has time for his children and wife, Glynda will be the strict yet graceful mother who is madly in love with me and enjoys reading novels when she is alone and you all will all be the children that will get DEVOUR by the Grimm coming our way if we don't collaborate".

Before anyone could complain or really say anything about the matter, the earth started to tremble once again, this time however, it felt more centered in their location; getting stronger and stronger the more they felt it.

One the vertical side of the cliff, hundreds upon hundreds of eyes were illuminated from the moonlight. Beowolfs, Ursa Majors, and who knew what else. Step by step, the creatures climbed up.

Everything that Peter and the rest could see on the edge of the cliff was black fur and red eyes peering at them. Alpha Beowolfs started to appear, giving a low growl that broke the immense silence that had settled. One by one they roared to the sky, commanding their forces to advance. And advance they did.

"Well everyone, ready for round two?" Yang said with a bit of excitement on her voice, getting ready for action.

"I got your back" Ruby said, readying Crescent Rose. Weiss got next to them, giving both a sigh but also a reassuring nod.

"Remember Jaune, right foot forward" Indicated Pyrrha.

"I now, I now!" muttered Jaune.

Peter chuckled "Your students are one of a kind Glynda"

"Yes. Yes, they are" said the professor walking next to Spider-man. "Don't let them overwhelm you. Neither let them get to the academy while the reinforcements come"

Felicia then chuckled "Are you sure that coronel Iron will send troops here in time?" said the silver-hair woman while signaling her team to fall back.

Glynda didn't even looked at her. She only narrowed her eyes. "Don't think for a moment that we'll let you or your group escape". Glynda aimed her riding crop at one of the fallen trees and use her levitation on it. A chunk of the wood came out and as it went towards Glynda, it began to thin out, forming a quarterstaff. Glynda grabbed it with her hands and gave it to Felicia "You don't get any more help from me"

Felicia Smirked "Thanks granny"

With those last lines, the entire group launch themselves forwards to try and stop the invading force.

Yang was the first to engage, jumping into the swarm of Grimm coming. She jumped up into the air, firing the explosive rounds of the gauntlets to give her some altitude just to change them to long rage and shoot a couple of fire balls in the middle of the enemy lines, taking out a couple of Grimms. The blonde landed and wasted no time on going for a flurry of blows to a pack of Beowolfs still stunned from her previous maneuver. She turned them to dust before they could react. An Ursa Major approached her from behind but the blonde was quick enough to dodge its horizontal claw strike. Yang changed back her gauntlets to explosive rounds and delivered two blows to the beast. The explosions were doing damage, leaving the blacked fur scorched, but as a last result the giant bear-like creature tried to sink its teeth on Yang's shoulders. Before he could however, Spider-man delivered a powerful kick to the beast's snout sending it colliding to other Grimms.

Peter stood back to back. Arm in a defensive position. "Why do you always have to go head first into trouble Goldilocks?"

"Safety is over rated" said the blonde

"Sadly, I have to agree" Peter replied. A part of the incoming horde seemed to be concentrating on the two for the moment. 6 more Grimms launched at the couple. Peter advance at the three in front of him, trusting than Yang (and his spider-sense) would warm him of any trouble. Lacking his web-fluid, Peter couldn't count on aerial combat but he was far from defenseless. The first Beowolf attacked but Peter jumped over its head just to punch him on the base of the skull, sending it face first on the dirt. Two more attacked its sides, but Peter change his position mid air to kick them both with his legs. He looked back on Yang and just saw ash riding the air as she finished her three opponents.

20 more came after the pair, but the result was the same.

The Grimm were starting to realize that these two weren't worth opposing, so they were starting to fall back

"We have to keep them on us as much as we can!" Yelled Yang as she smashed her knuckles together and fiery flames started to emanate from her. She activated her semblance, changing her eyes to a crimson red. "Keep your distance"

"HOT HOT HOT HOT" Said Peter as flames started to erupt from the earth and he was doing his best to avoid them (and not get killed by Grimm).

5 meters from them the rest of the group could see the living inferno that was occurring ahead of them. Ruby knew this scene very well.

-Yang is taking this seriously- though Ruby while kicking a Beowolf coming her way. Using her speed, the little reaper ran through groups of Grimms, cleaving them in half with her scythe. Weiss was a few paces behind her holding her ground with her rapier. Stabbing and any creature that got close. She suddenly turned the dust of her weapon black and all the Grimms around her were stopped by a gravitational force that was holding then to the ground. Felicia, who was with them, was using her improvised weapon to take out as many as she could. The quarterstaff was holding on, and she took advantage of Weiss move to turn to dust the trapped Grimm. They had taken out 15 Grimms so far but more were on the way. The three warriors stayed side by side.

Close to them were Jaune and Pyrrha. The two were covering each other´s back. The redhead was keeping the Grimm at bay with her spear; stabbing a Beowolf just to use the corpse as a temporary hammer and batter another Grimm on her back. The redhead saw a pack of grimm lining perfectly one behind the other so Pyrrha used the magnetic manipulation to shoot her spear straight through five of them. The weapon then returned back to her hands. She transformed her spear into a sword and buried it into a Beowolf coming on her side.

Jaune was blocking claw after claws of two Ursas that had their eyes fixed on the blonde. Just when he was ready to swing his sword the other Grimm came at him and he had to play defensive again. One of the Ursas managed to hit the shield out of the boy. Though the focus was on his shield, the sudden movement also made Jaune lose his sword. The two items were in opposite ends so he had to make a quick choice. One of the Ursas jumped on him but the blonde rolled over the way. He went for his sword. The Grimm was just behind him. The young man just ran for it. Going as fast as he could. He grabbed his sword and without looking back, he jammed it backwards blindly, attacking whatever was there. He felt the sword cutting through something. He looked back and saw the Grimm lifeless body coming towards him and them turning to dust. Jaune allowed himself to smile but in that moment the remaining Ursa pummelled the blonde into ground the with a slash across his back. Jaune was thankful his armor took most of the blow but that didn't stop the pain. He quickly rolled out of the way and slash the Ursa upwards making it fall to the ground dead. Jaune breathed heavily. His back was starting to ache. Close by him a Beowolf had sneak up to him. Jaune turned around but before he could do anything, a golden spear embedded itself of the beast snout. Jaune turned and saw Pyrrha a few passes behind him with a worried expression on her face, coming towards him. Jaune just smiled and gave her a thump up. The redhead got closer to the blonde and with her semblance his pulled Jaune shield.

"Are you ok?" she said getting into combat position. More Grimm were coming their way

"Yeah" Jaune groaned a bit "You have hit me harder anyway"

The redhead couldn't help but feel a bit of remorse after those words. Still she stood back to back with Jaune and they launched forward towards the beast.

A little further back behind everyone was Professor Goodwitch. Given her versatile power set, she decided to assist everyone in combat while taking a chuck of the Grimm on her own. Similar to what did she the first time the meet the arachnid, Glynda levitated a bunch of rocks into the air, making them squash and hit the incoming horde. 15, 30, 45 Grimm, they were all falling, but more keep climbing up. She was also assisting her students. When there seemed to be too many Grimm close to one group, the rocks would keep them at bay. One of the Beowolf in particular got extremely close to Spider-man. Glynda commanded one of her rocks to crush the creature. Peter's spider-sense warned him and he back-flipped out of the way just as rock hit the creature. He turned knowing that that was one of Glynda's techniques.

"Thanks honey!" He shouted while round kicking and Ursa to give himself some time to breath.

Glynda kept her stoic face trying to concentrate. Why was she finding that stupid attitude so endearing?... Wait what?

On Peter's side he finished two more Grimm. His spider-sense tingled harder then. Something was coming up the way. As he looked at the cliff a yellow stinger pocked out first, then what was attached to it, an enormous Scorpion. Next to it, two Basilisk. Two enormous snake Grimm, one white and one black.

-I think professor Port forgot teaching us about a Grimm with a POISONUS TAIL- shouted Peter

The Death Stalker, as the scorpion Grimm was called, launched themselves towards the group. Peter and Yang were the closes so they were attacked first.

Yang was just finishing an Ursa with an explosive round when she noticed the new Grimm coming. She was going to jump into action but the arachnid put a hand in front of her to stop her.

"No. We can't let them get to the school. I'll take care of him"

"Come on! You just want to look good in front of professor Goodwitch!" Said Yang with a smirk

"Hehe maybe" Peter locked eyes with the Death Stalker coming his way. Then look at all the Grimm looking at Yang.

"You got this Yang?"

"I got it Spider-man"

"Good"

With that, Peter jumped high to meet his foe. One of the Death stalker's claws tried to grab him but he managed to dodge it mid air. Taking advantage of his momentum, the hero went for a direct hit, punching the Grimm right between the eyes. Though a strong punch, The Grimm had a hard, white shell that went from his mouth all the way to its stinger, making Peter shake his hand a bit as he jumped back.

"Ok, this is not gonna be easy"

Several meters away from the spandex wearing hero, the two Basilisk had gone for the two groups. Ruby and company were keeping the white one at bay but the slithering creature was fast. Every time Weiss was close to trap it with gravity dust, as she did with the Beowolfs before, other Grimms would come her way making her lose focus. Ruby decided to help Weiss not to get overwhelm so Felicia had to take the Basilisk head on. The giant snake tried to capitalize on her superior height but as it was close to burying its fang on the silver-haired woman, Felicia used her semblance to sprint out of the way while looking for an opening.

Pyrrha and Jaune were in a more precarious situation. The Grimms were getting ever so closer and the black Basilisk throwing out their strategy wasn't making things easier.

Spider-man was still dodging pincer attack after pincer attack. The creature's golden stinger was also coming dangerously close to him but he could just keep avoiding so much. He tried hitting any soft spot that he imagined would be on a normal scorpion but Grimm didn't seem to fit in the category of normal scorpions but bigger. He looked behind him and saw the situation Pyrrha and Jaune were in and he got and idea.

"Hey, have you ever heard of Mac Gargan?" Shouted Peter to the Grimm "A psychopathic human with a big, green, mechanical scorpion suit? I think you should sue him for copyright. He is giving good scorpions like you a bad reputation"

The Grimm didn't seem to really understand what the hero was saying but his attacks appeared to have become most furious as a result.

-Well done Parker, keep bothering the giant scorpion-

The Grimm took some distance from its enemy and went for an attack with its poisonous appendence. When the golden stringer was coming his way, instead of dodging the masked hero planted himself in the ground and grabbed it mid-air. The stinger stopped a few centimeters from Peter face. Without missing a bit the hero used all his strength to pull the Grimm and toss it around him. Yang was far enough away that she wouldn't get hit. Peter started to spin around again and again and when the time was right, hi released the creature aiming straight for the Basilisk battling Jaune and Pyrrha.

"Pyrrha, Jaune, incoming!"

The pair had pushed the Beowolfs back enough to hear the hero's warning and without hesitation docked down. The Basilisk was about to attack with it fangs when the Death Stalker crashed with it sending them through many other Grimm and turning them all to dust.

Peter smiled seeing his plan work. In front of him however an Ursa had gotten close enough to attack him but an explosive punch from Yang obliterated the creature, bringing Peter back to the present.

"Don't distract yourself Spider, I won't be around all the time to save your ass" Said the blonde brawler whose eyes had inexplicably turned red.

"Hey, your eyes are ok?" Peter asked. I track of concern was on his voice

"Yeah. Another awesome perk of being me!" Smirked Yang before launching herself again to another Grimm.

"I bet she would fit right with a couple of my friends" Said Peter before jumping back on action.

Seeing the number of enemies drop gave Glynda enough time to change her strategy and help the rest of team Ruby. She concentrated in all of the rocks floating on the battleground to then use her riding crop. The rocks began glowing bright red and exploded in many pieces. All of them rocketed towards the Grimm around the group but leaving the remaining Basilisk alone. The rocks would leave a scorched mark as the went through the flesh of the monsters just as the creatures turn to dust.

"Ms. Schnee now is your chance!" Glynda shouted

Asserting the situation, Weiss stabbed the ground with her rapier but instead of going for black dust she changed to her dark blue one, making shards of ice shout from the ground and going straight to the Basilisk. The slithering Grimm was too distracted from the glowing rocks to notice the ice until it was too late and its lower half was completely covered on it. Ruby and Felicia both looked at each other and nodded. The woman went low and Ruby went high. The cat faunus started to climbed up the ice, slamming her way up the giant snake. Ruby, using the force of her sniper rifle, created enough momentum to turned around to slice to creature's head off. Both warriors landed next to each other as the giant Grimm collapsed.

The whole group was filling confident about their strong position until the saw the whole horde of Grimm still coming from the chills.

"Our efforts will be useless unless we find a way to stop them from coming up!" shouted Weiss

"I'm open to ideas ice queen!" Said Peter stopping a claw attack from an Ursa.

Suddenly all of them started to hear the sound of fast-moving motor blades as Bullhead flew over them. On one side, two Gatling Guns were deployed with Coco operating one of them. Both weapons started shooting the Grimms on the ground, turning them to smithereens. Then the aircraft went to the opposite side of the cliff and started unloading of the Grimms climbing up. Before this though, 3 figures jumped out of it. Peter recognized them immediately. They were Velvet and the rest of her team.

"Go team CFVY!" Said Peter mostly to himself.

The first one to jump was Yatsuhashi, drawing her massive sword from his back. The enormous teen swung his sword as he was landing on a spot infected with Grimm. As the sword made contact, a shock wave emanated from it, launching Beowolfs and Ursas into the air. The lightly tanned teen stood there in a defensive position as more and more Grimm were coming his way. Before he could move, Fox jumped from his shoulder, advancing inside the horde of Grim at incredible speed. The white-eyed teen was slicing and dicing them thanks to her mounted wrist blade.

Peter recognized some of the movement he was using; they were similar to Ren's in some aspects.

The brown skinned fighter was weakening the Grimm enough for Yatsuhashi to cleave them with his massive sword.

The last one to jump was Velvet who was currently using the holographic gauntlets he had seen her using. Now that he though about it, they looked similar to Yang's minus the color.

The rabbit faunus used her powerful legs to launch herself in front of every Grimm and beat them with a flurry of blows. Then, as he witnessed last time, the gauntlets disintegrated and reformed into a scythe.

Again, in looked similar to Ruby´s now that she seen it up close.

In a similar fashion to the red reaper, Velvet turned her weapon into a sniper rifle which she used take out Grimms up close and from a far.

More and more aircrafts from Atlas eventually came, bringing mechanical solider to aid in battle.

Everyone smiled, the cavalry had arrived.

The rest of the fight continued for another hour.

Spider-man and the student thought they had advance enough to win the fight but a Nevermore, gigantic black feather Grimm came and caused a lot more problems. Eventually though, the forces of Beacon prevailed. Every team was laying on the ground, completely exhausted. Even the energetic Yang had to admit that it had been the most difficult encounter so far. Thank goodness, her hair hadn't suffered or there would had been way more craters and destruction on the zone.

Even though she had helped, Felicia and her team were apprehended on the spot. It might have been a bit distasteful, but it was necessary.

The area where the battle took place was full of jagged rocks everywhere. The once place of relaxation, would need some serious reconstruction.

Now that the forces had come down, including general Ironwood and Ozpin himself to supervised everything, everyone could relax at last.
