Fitz had left the studio earlier than he normally would so he'd be on time for his date with Olivia. And as excited as he was, he knew that he couldn't over do it with her. He knew that she wasn't in the best place right now. He just wanted to be a friend and help her get past this unfamiliar and unhappy place state she was in, just as her sister, Clara had requested.

"Mell, it's not...it's not like that," Fitz said into the phone. He knew he shouldn't have answered Mellie's call. She called and asked if he any plans tonight and instead of lying to her, he told her that he had a date with Olivia in just a few hours, and she lost it.

"Fuck you, Fitzgerald! You know, I already knew this wasn't going to work, but I was willing to try for Katie's sake," she said, then ended the call abruptly. Fitz felt bad, he knew that he should've never started fooling around with Mellie again, but he'd been missing Olivia and was really craving for some physical contact. Mellie had been the nice, warm body to help him get over his dry spell. "I'll apologize tomorrow," he said to himself, shaking off the guilt.

After getting dressed, he spritzed his neck and wrist with the Versace cologne Olivia had gotten him a while back. He tucked it in his memory to jokingly remind her that he would be needing a new bottle soon. Looking in the mirror, Fitz smiled at his appearance. He knew he was looking good and he felt good too. He'd been working out a little here and there, and his hard work and dedication to stay fit and healthy was beginning to pay off.

Once he gathered everything he needed for the night, he locked up his house, got into his car and drove to Olivia's.

"Hey, Siri, call Olivia," Fitz said to his phone which had automatically connected to his car's Bluetooth. Although he was on his way to pick her up for their date, he still wanted to hear her lovely voice.

During his drive he kept Olivia on the line, laughing and being silly with her. That's one of the reasons Fitz truly loved her. They were always so silly together and he loved a woman that could make him laugh. Laughter does good just like a medicine.

After ending the call with her, he sent a teasing text message right afterwards. The middle finger she'd sent him as her response had him laughing out loud but instead of replying, he focused on the road. At exactly 7:50 p.m Fitz was pulling into her driveway.

When he exited his vehicle, he walked to her front door and rang her doorbell. It took only seconds for Olivia to answer the door and when she opened it, she nearly knocked Fitz off his feet. She looked magnificent. "Damn," he mumbled as he eyed her up and down.

"I see that you're trying to match me tonight, Mr. Grant. Did you peep into my window," Olivia asked teasingly. She then invited him into her foyer and took in his appearance more thoroughly. Damn, she thought to herself.

His off-white button-down shirt and black tailored dress pants contrasted perfectly with her all black fitted dress and nude and clear heels. It was like they had gotten ready in the same house and purposely matched their outfits.

"Well, you know what they say, great minds think alike. You look beautiful, Olivia." Fitz complimented sincerely as he leaned in and kissed her cheek. Fitz was having a hard time keeping his hands off of her. All he wanted to do was carry her upstairs, take her dress off, and have his way with her all night long.

Olivia couldn't help but to blush under his intense gaze. She had a feeling that he had some pretty naughty thoughts going through his mind, and she couldn't lie, that made her happy. "Thank you, Fitzgerald." She smiled.

"Liv, are you seriously going to keep it formal with me all night? Using my government name," Fitz asked with a chuckle.

"Maybe. Maybe not. It all depends on how well the first few hours of this date goes."

"Well, you know you always have a great time with me," Fitz said confidently making Olivia laugh. He was too cute. "Well, we'll see.."

"Oh, these are for you," he said, finally handing her the bouquet of white and red roses. Olivia's eyes lit up as she took the bouquet from him and gushed over how beautiful they were. "Oh! You are such a charmer. Thank you, Fitzgerald. These really are beautiful," she said. Then, she excused herself and went to place the roses in a vase of water and once she came back, Fitz took her by the hand and the beautiful pair headed to his vehicle.

"So, where are we going," Olivia asked, glancing over at Fitz with a smile as he drove.

Fitz chuckled. "I was waiting for it. I knew it was coming.."

"Well, are you gonna tell me, mister?"

"Nope," Fitz answered making sure to pop the letter "p". Olivia couldn't help but to groan as she sat back. There was no need in begging, Fitz was as strong-willed as she was.

Once they arrived at their destination, Fitz explained how he'd rented out the rooftop of the restaurant. After taking the elevator to the top, Olivia was blown away. Their view was absolutely stunning, the weather was perfect, and Fitz even had a jazz band playing for their entertainment. Olivia was moved by the fact that he had remembered such a small detail as about her love for jazz music. "Oh, Fitz.. This is absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much."

"Anything for you. You deserve it, Livie," he said, pulling her chair. Olivia could only smile.

At the table, the two of them dug into their delicious appetizer and made up lyrics to the music being played in their background. Each time the waiter came to check on them, Fitz had a joke for the young man and he'd have both Olivia and the waiter in snitches from his corny jokes.

"Excuse him." Olivia would say, apologizing for Fitz's behavior. The waiter was just glad that these two famous artist weren't snobs like the others he'd had to host before.

Once their meals were placed in front of them, Fitz blessed their food and they began to eat over small talk. It felt great to catch up without the pressure of being "caught".

"Livie, we're literally eating the same thing," Fitz argued as he watched Olivia stick her fork into his food yet again and take another bite.

"But yours somehow taste better!" She whined. Fitz could only chuckle and shake his head at her. Women.

Over the course of their dinner- together, they indeed had a great time.

Just as Fitz had promised.

"Fitz, there's something I need to tell you," Olivia said once she'd stopped laughing at something he'd previously said.

"Shoot your shot. What's up," Fitz asked. He placed down his silverware to give her his undivided attention. He had seen her fidgeting a while ago and he knew something was on her mind. He was just grateful that she decided to bring it up herself rather than having him pull it out of her and possibly spoiling the mood.

Olivia paused for moment, she wasn't sure how to put her thoughts into words so she blurted out, "Well, I'm getting remarried."

Fitz was shocked to silence. He had no idea that she'd been seeing someone new or was it Jake again, he wondered? Here he was trying to whoo her...no, be a friend, and she was already getting remarried? "What do- To who? Are you serious, Olivia?"

Olivia nodded with smile. "Yes! Are- aren't you excited for me? Even just a little?"

Fitz snorted. "Oh yeah, real happy for you, Liv. Congratulations," he said, trying to hide the sarcasm and disappointment in his voice.

Olivia saw the look on his face and knew that he was everything but happy. "You're such a terrible liar, Fitz," she said before bursting into laughter. "Geez, it was just a joke! Man, I got you good. That was so good, right?"

Fitz shook his head. He couldn't even be mad at her, she had gotten him good, but damn if he let her know that. "No, that wasn't good! That wasn't near good. It was stupid!"

Olivia doubled over in laughter. "Whatever! You're a hater! I know that I got you good, Fitz." She giggled as she did a little dance in her seat. Fitz chuckled and rolled his eyes at her. "I'll get you back," he said as Liv sipped her water. After she put it down the glass, she jokingly waved him off. "Pshh," she said, before getting serious with him again. It was time to let him know how she really felt.

"But seriously, there is something that I need to share with you." Fitz nodded, encouraging her to continue. "Well, I…I'm in love with you, Fitz. I have been in love with you since the very first moment we met. So many times I wanted you to choose me, but there was always someone else who had your attention. Fitz, I've waited for you. I know that I went off and got married, but it was you that I wanted- and it's you that I still want. Although I am a little afraid to love again after all that's happened, I'm willing to take the chance with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Fitz. I want you to show me that I matter to you…for you to show me that you care. I want you to finally choose me and let me know that I am not in this alone..that the things I feel aren't just one-sided."

"You don't know how long I've been waiting to hear those words, Livie. I would never do anything to hurt you and I'm sorry for putting other women before you, but truthfully, I knew I wasn't ready for you. I've always thought that you were out of my league and that I wasn't good enough for you. I wasn't ready to commit to a woman like you, but now...now I am. Olivia, you are my reason for being, I need you in my life rather it's as a friends or you as my woman. I can't go another twelve years without you, and I would never do anything to jeopardize what we have again. You are the love of my life, Olivia, and I would be a damn fool if I chose anyone else over you again. So, if you'll have me, I want to be yours? Every day I want to prove to you that what you're feeling isn't some one-sided thing."

Olivia hadn't expect this moment to be such an emotional one. She smiled and dabbed at the corner of her eyes after he'd spoken what was on his heart. "I love you so much." She smiled.

"And I love you," he responded, leaning over the table and softly kissing her lips.

After confessing their love and promising their total commitment to each other, Fitz and Olivia ended dinner by sharing a strawberry cheesecake and a glass of wine.

Later that night they went back to Fitz's place and he gave Olivia one of his shirts to rest in. As they laid in his bed, they talked about how they would tell their kids and families that we were officially together. They decided that they would hold out on sharing the information with public until a few months had passed. They only wanted to enjoy their relationship without the negative that they were sure social media would bring.

After getting it all figured out, they cuddled together watching The Jungle Book. It was one of Fitz's favorite cartoon movies and Olivia always teased him about it. He was such a macho man, but he loved cartoon movies.

"Fitz, I want to put another album out..but with your help. I- I'm not ready to quit music just yet," Olivia confessed with her head resting on Fitz's chest. She didn't need anymore time to think about it. She knew she had more to give to her fans and with Fitz's help, she knew it would reach number one on the R charts.

"I'm glad to hear that, baby. We can start working on it as soon as you're ready. It's going to be great," he said, caressing her arm. "It's going to be great." She repeated with a smile. She and Fitz hadn't worked in the studio together in years, but she had no doubts. Fitz was a music genius and she trusted him more than anyone else in the industry.

A little while later, Fitz realized Olivia's breathing had evened out and that she had fallen asleep on his chest. He placed a loving kiss on her forehead, turned off the tv, then drifted off to sleep as well.

Tonight was great. It had been the perfect date.
