Yusuke P.O.V.
The fight between Sensui and I was becoming more impacted than for the first few rounds. This guy wasn't going to be taken down by my punches and kicks. His strength was more flexible, initiative, and powerful, that I am starting to think that I won't be able to defeat him. But I did notice something about Sensui, and it was his personality that changed quite frequently that he has seven characters that were taking control over his body and mind. Shinobu overcame the different personalities he created to deal with his internal contradictions, becoming the pure Shinobu he once was, and perhaps his soul has been partially saved. Not long until Koenma arrived, trying to stop Sensui and talk him out of his plot to destroy the human world after concurring the demon world on his behalf. However, Shinobu's actions reached another level to defeat Koenma by using the pacifier that unlocks his spirit energy weakening the prince.
"This won't accomplish anything," Koenma told me, limping towards me only to be shrugged off and fallen onto the ground trembling. "Please...Yusuke."
I glance in the corner of his eye at Koenma, replying, "You're half right. I've got a feeling what I'm about to do isn't going to seal up any tunnels or keep demons from having earth to play with..."I said, "The whole world's probably screwed. Who cares?" I pointed a finger towards Sensui, receiving a slight grin on his face. "But I'll get one thing accomplished...I'll know the loser of this fight."
With Koenma lying on the ground, I took a couple of steps forward to him, and he inquired, "You are asking me to take your life, Yusuke?"
I glanced at him with a stoic expression, "Yeah, that's right. And do it in some style. I don't want some piss-poor, half-assed try." I snorted, placing a hand on my chest, "I know you can do it quickly."
"Urameshi! You can't go this way!Think!" Kuwabara pleaded from inside the shadow figure staring out of the eye, watching me walk towards Sensui away from Nezuko. "What I did against Toguru in the fight, I did it for you!"
Kurama, Hiei, Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Mitarai watched the male pleading not to let me do this. "The breaking point." Said Kurama.
"I did it for you! But you can't ever die and have it be for me!" Kuwabara begged. "You can't...You can't! Urameshi!"
Tears were falling on Kuwabara's face trickling down his cheeks, remembering the countless times that I fought him, and he still wanted to prove how strong he was to defeat me and that he couldn't.
Kuwabara shouted, "You've...always gotta be there, Urameshi! Can't you get it?" He sniffled. "If you're not, then who am I?" The words he spoke throughout his heart were harrowing that I didn't know what would happen if they knew what would become next if I died again.
I'm doing this for the world...for my friends...and my life...
"Yusuke..." Tanjiro pleaded.
"Well then...you just heard Mr. Itsuki. I'm no longer allowed to hesitate." Sensui clarified. "One of us detectives has to die."
"Well then, I'll make sure I'm tasty for you," I said in a touch of sarcasm as I powered up my energy along with Sensui.
"STOP!" Koenma pleaded.
I didn't stop as I charged straight towards Sensui, kicking him only for him to block it. I began to draw in another kick; he dodges that one too. My ass was getting kicked by long legs here, and he wasn't going down with the energy he collected from Koenma's pacifier as he beat my ass. The next one was the last thing coming for me; Sensui had a glowing gold aura around him as he charged straight up to me. I noticed that the Uraotoko figure on the wall had its eye cut open, and over there, I could see my friends were being freed at last.
"Urameshi! Get out of the way!" Kuwabara screamed.
I slowly looked over at them, giving them the calmest and heartwarming smile just before Sensui struck me through the heart. My body was cold, and I couldn't open my eyes as I fell back, lying on the hard ground lying there motionless.
Nezuko P.O.V.
Just as Kuwabara cut the Uraotoko figure's eye with his Spirit Sword, they were too late just as Yusuke got hit in the chest. I was puzzled as the others were too; the Spirit Detective was dead...Sensui wasn't done, and I knew he was going to keep completing his task without stopping. His body laid in front of me as I reached over to touch the wound he was hit from Sensui lying there cold...lost...and in peace.
"He can't be...He can't..." Kuwabara sobered.
"Trial of humanity. The defenses rest." Sensui said.
"Come on, stop clowning around," Kuwabara said, trying to act as if nothing happened to Yusuke, but he knew that he was dead again. This wasn't the first time this happened because Yusuke told me that he died the first time to become the spirit detective, and now..."Ha, ha...Prankster.I get it's payback for me trickin' you with Toguru. Good one." Kuwabara walks over to his corpse, trying to shake him to get him to wake up. "Too bad I'm not as gullible as you, big lame-o. I mean, hey, I'll just cover up your mouth and nose! You can't complain, right?" He let out a false laughter escape from his lips as I stared at him helplessly. "I mean, dead guys don't gotta breathe! Look...Your plan to motivate us worked. I broke us out." Kuwabara began to tremble as I held Yusuke's cold shoulder. "Now, let's beat Sensui together and go home. Come on; I'm not dumb!"
"Kuwabara..." Tanjiro whispered.
He didn't hear me calling him. Kuwabara rested his head against Yusuke's heart, saying, "See...! Ya can't hide your heart bea-" He paused, lifting his head, staring down his face." Urameshi..." I could hear Kuwabara starting to cry as the cave began to rumble as rocks started to fall above the ceiling, crashing down on the ground.
We heard Sensui speak up, "For some reason, I thought taking his life would bring catharsis..." He said monotonously. "I even timed the video's climactic final scene as a requiem for his death. Instead, I just feel a deeper sadness. Another soul lost, fighting for the wrong side."
'He won't wake up. I let him die in vain due to sadness, and it was timed too.' I thought, quivering over the loss of the spirit detective in front of me.
Rage is what I sensed in them after the loss of our friend they were mourning over. All of us
"Tanjiro?" Kuwabara called out to him as he watched the boy kneeling beside Yusuke's lifeless body.
Kuwabara can sense an aura of rage picking up on the boy; the same goes for Kurama and Hiei that felt the same thing. Tanjiro stands up, not facing back at them with his back turned.
"Let's go." He said in a deep tone.
"Are any of you brave enough to lead the way?" Sensui inquired. "Attempt to finish what your late friend could not?"
"Sure...Bravery is the thing we got left." Kuwabara said.
I glanced over to see Hiei unwrapping his bandages, revealing a dragon, and he took off the bandage wrapped around his forehead to show an eye. Kurama transformed into his fox form that I could tell; he went over towards me, giving me a sympathetic look in his eyes. They ran towards Sensui to use their powers against him. Still, he used a shield to protect his body, avoiding Hiei's dragon technique to push him into the tunnel killing the lower-class demons inside allowing it to open.
"Nezuko!" Tanjiro called out to me.
"Mmm!" I replied under my bamboo muzzle.
"We have to help them. The portal that leads to the demon world is where we'll have to go." He said in a husky, deep tone.
I glanced at him as they were all going to use their spiritual energy to target Sensui. After the death of the spirit detective, there's no telling how they will defeat Sensui by his firm and his powerful spiritual energy that is at the maximum stage.
"We better get a move on. We cannot leave her here, and taking her with us is the only option to keep her safe." Kurama said, picking me up in his arms as I clutched my brother's shirt as gently patted my head. "We're going inside the tunnel and track down Sensui."
"A-Are you sure you guys want to come with us?"Kuwabara inquires worriedly.
"We have no choice," Hiei replied. "He's doing it because he wants to ruin everything and cause destruction."
I hummed at Hiei. He was ready to move ahead as I reached over to grasp his sleeveless shirt shoulder as he faced me in the corner of his eye.
I stared into his eyes, pleading into his cold gaze turn soft as he rested a hand on mine.
Hiei replied, "You won't lose us. We're going to protect you and Tanjiro from making sure Sensui doesn't take you away again."
"Let's get a move on. We have to hunt down Sensui and stop him." Kurama said.
The rocks were still falling as Kurama carried me in his arms as we entered the tunnel. While we were inside, it looked so retro, almost like a video game that Kuwabara said. Sensui leads us to a yellow gateway to the demon world, but we can't get past it.
"Then how the heck did he make it through here?" Kuwabara asked.
"I'm glad you asked. As you remember, my energy's of the Sacred kind. Fortunately, the brains in Spirit World only one this net to filter our Demon Energy." Sensui explained as he used his power to strengthen the gate. "That's why I passed through unscathed while Hiei's attack burned out when it hit the net."
"You and your friend should take some consolation in the fact that this Kekkai is only sensitive to the energy of A or S-Class Demons," Sensui said incisively. "Which means that is killing your friend, I've awakened the potential you've both dreamed of. Your silence is all the thanks I need."
I clenched onto Tanijiro's shirt as he held me before watching Kurama approaching over to the gate that I stared at him confused, "Ironically though, now that your powers are finally strong enough to match me, you can't get close. Heh." Said Sensui smirking towards them as Kurama reached out his hand to touch the gate as it burned his hand, and he pulled it back.
Kurama says, "He's right; we're trapped."
Sensui formed a dark smirk on his lips, "The only way you'll get to me and satisfy Yusuke's dying wish is if Kuwabara or Tanjiro can get in."
"My sword won't be able to cut through that it's not spiritual," Tanjiro replied.
Kuwabara let out a scoff, "Ha! Yeah, well, I'm 100% human, so I can still make it through on my own."
"Urameshi couldn't take me on his own. What makes you think you stand a chance in hell?" Sensui inquired, forming a dark expression on his face.
"We'll see when we get there!" Kuwabara grunted as he charged straight for the gate to form his spirit sword and jumped into the air to cut through the gate.
"I could handle you myself, but this way, even if I die, they can still use your skull as an urn for Urameshi's ashes," Kuwabara said in a deep tone.
It was Hiei's turn to charge over at Sensui, but he was already flying away from us, "This is where you end, Sensui." Kurama and Kuwabara followed after him as I was still in Kurama's arms; that's when we found ourselves in the demon world as we were falling from the sky.
"Hey, has anyone noticed that we're falling very, very, very fast?!" Kuwabara exclaimed.
"Hiei, do you know where in Demon World we are?" Kurama asked as I glanced over to listen to Hiei's response.
"Yes, I believe I've been to these parts before, and if I'm right, then we're lucky." Hiei said as he started explaining, "It's the Forest of Fools, just low-level Demons who won't present any kind of challenge to us."
"I know we're about to die and all, but I hate it when you guys ignore what I have to say!" Kuwabara shouted, freefalling like the rest of us are doing right now.
Kurama then formed a kai in his hands to wrap vines around us and said, "Hold on tight." Hiei and Kuwabara grabbed the vines as Kurama created a pair of wings on his back.
"Fox, then a butterfly; is there any animal you can't metamorph into!?" Kuwabara inquired.
"I haven't turned into a butterfly..."Said Kurama, "This is merely the leaf of a plant, doubling as a glider."
"That's amazing!" Tanjiro chimed.
"Right." Kuwabara faced me directly towards me, forming a cocky grin. "Hey, Nezuko, Tanjiro, doesn't this look great? We're practically flying, almost not falling to our deaths." He glanced down at glaring at Sensui, "Look at that cocky punk, just freefalling without a care in the world-but I betcha he wishes he had somethin' to catch him now!"
I looked below, and at the others, Kurama gave me a small smile to reassure me that everything would be all right. Suddenly, we saw Sensui starts to glow as we were all confused about what his next motive was going to be.
"What did he do?" Kuwabara asked.
"You begin to see what my Sacred Energy is capable of. I don't have a bag of tricks or packs of seeds, and I don't need them." He flatly responded. "I can fly without any roots attached, without even the help of my maker. That's why they call me Black Angel." He explained. "If we lived in less cynical times, the gift I'm preparing for the world might've been labeled for what it is: a miracle."
"You think you can scare us with that holy one crap?" Kuwabara sneered.
"Does he believe we'd turn around after all we've been through?" Kurama inquired.
"We can't go back now! After what he did and for what, Yusuke fought to protect us. He needs to be stopped!" Tanjiro remarked.
"Who cares what he is as long as he can die!" Hiei snarled.
"I admire your electric enthusiasm, Hiei, but I don't wanna hurt these beautiful woods," Sensui said. "You mind we finish this fight over there?"
We saw Sensui beginning to land closer to the dry land as Hiei said, "Oh, I see. The Plateau of the Beheaded-a fitting battleground, indeed. Come to think of it; it's giving me some ideas."
"I've got some of my own," Kuwabara said.
Tanjiro P.O.V.
Kuwabara, Hiei, Nezuko, and I let go of the vines that Kurama had us hold onto; we all fell to the ground, landing while Kurama held Nezuko in his arms. Sensui was standing a few meters away from where we were as I glared at him as stood motionless and stoically.
"I am concerned about what your actions are to these demons? Aren't you supposed to be a demon slayer that slays demons to end their existence?" Sensui questioned.
"I am. I may be a demon slayer, but I can also tell what the demons have been through-it's my scent. " I remarked.
"Interesting." Sensui glanced over at my sister. "I guess it would appear the same reason why your sister has the same relation as you do."
We didn't say a word, but my main objective is to protect Nezuko right now; we've lost the detective, and now we can't risk losing her too. Kurama and Hiei took opposite directions leaving Kuwabara and me with Nezuko to get closer to Sensui if we used our techniques against him as possible.
"This is not something I usually do...Fighting opponents who I know have no chance of beating me." Sensui clarified, staring at the three of us with a stoic expression. "But I'm making exceptions for you, to offer some modicum of peace, that you at least tried to avenge your friend's death before your own." That's when Sensui shoved us away with his powerful energy as we caught ourselves.
"Oh, come on now! Is that supposed to impress us?" Kuwabara inquired.
Even Kuwabara tried to go near him, but Sensui shot him back with his glowing aura that it was so strong he began to change his form to wear so much armor on his body.
"Sacred Energy Armor!" He said as he stood his ground, narrowing his gaze towards us.
"Am I the only one not doin' a costume change?" Kurama asked in sarcasm.
We each took a turn to fight against Sensui's Sacred Energy Armor, and it was well as defending against my Sword of the Darkness Flame and Kurama's Rose Whip. Despite all that, Sensui's Sacred Energy Armor was not strong enough to protect against the newly-revived Yusuke's supercharged Spirit Gun. I was even required to use my dragon to shield my body, but it was worthless to use it against his armor that he didn't seem impressed!
He was about to harm Nezuko just as I swooped her into my arms, holding her close to my chest. I glanced down at her giving her a small smile saying, "You alright? We have to work together to defeat Sensui, okay?" I ducked down to let Sensui use his attack aiming halfway towards us, only to rip half of my clothing to shield my sister.
Hiei was quick enough to land before he got a chance to strike as Kurama used his demon vines to distract him. As I set Nezuko on the ground to wrap her body around it, I gave her a sympathetic look in the eyes and said, "I'll protect you, but try not to get yourself killed." I told her before returning to the fight to keep my guard up and take on Sensui.
"Now, you're starting to piss me off!" Hiei yelled.
"You're not strong enough to face me. Even your friends can't continue to fight anymore if you continue to do so." Sensui is irrelevant, claiming that we weren't vital to take him when we're practically fighting for revenge over Yusuke's death.
I spoke up, "Well, I won't let them get brutally injured if you keep harming them." I mocked him. "I continue to fight because I don't want to lose any more of my friends!" Just as Sensui was about to attack me, I sped through to strike him that I was that I appeared just before he could use his same attack using his armor again.
Nezuko came charging straight over to fight as she jumped in mid-air to swing her leg, switching them to kick him. Sensui blocked her attack but grabbed her ankle to toss her aside, but she got back up again with Hiei tagging on her side.
As soon as Sensui predicted his next move, Kuwabara eventually came in to join the battle. He gave him an uppercut in the chin to draw him back.
"You won't lay another finger on either of them!" I shouted, swinging my sword to do another water breathing technique, but I was trying to see the thread cut through an opening as he turned me to the side as I caught my fall and charged at him again.
Sensui was about to harm me, but I leaped back, gripping my sword, and Hiei came in to use his fire dragon combined with his sword. It was not strong enough to use a blade to cut through the armor, which made it more difficult. When Sensui drew a kick on his side to make him roll onto the other side, Nezuko growled in anger. She had veins popping through her skull as she charged at him next, only to be attacked by his energy.
"Nezuko!" I shouted.
I watched her body being tossed in the same direction Hiei was as he glanced over at her worriedly. Sensui and I were faced to face as he gave me a demeanor expression.
"I don't understand you at all. How could you even bother to bond with a demon?" He asked. "A bond means to tear a family apart. Meaning to tear one's heart out. Meaning to tear up a letter." I felt my insides churn to hear him say those things that were not exactly what a bond means. I clenched my teeth and gripped my sword, glaring at him.
"How dare you say that? That's not a bond at all! You convicted enough damage to use different people that have psychics abilities to die for being used!" I embarked.
"Why protect demons when you continue to slash them? Demons are persistent and unwilling to crave human flesh for their need. They don't care about what others feel beside themselves." Sensui inquired.
"I don't give a damn if they are demons! Demons have a heart, feelings, and a mind of their own. So, what if they are different? It doesn't change a thing! Not to me or anyone else thus far as for me to be a demon slayer!" I shouted as the fire demon looked up in awe to hear those words from me that wanted to prove I have reason to explain what a bond means.
"It doesn't matter if they aren't like regular humans because they are no different or understand the concept of how our world is being treated differently. I'm not letting that get out of my system after sensing the heartbreaking truth about what demons have against us humans." I said in a deep tone.
"If you consider yourself a demon slayer. What flaws have you ever faced? Aren't you a swordsman yourself out to kill demons? Humans are meant to be extinct for the crucial ways they elaborate." Sensui proclaimed.
As I glared over directly at Sensui, "A demon once asked that same question, and I told them the same thing I will tell you." My lips formed a straight line as I transferred back to the conversation Hiei and I had previously. "I have some flaws in my life where it ended crucially. My family was murdered except for Nezuko, she was alive, and before I knew it...she became a demon. I happen to find out that she didn't kill them when someone came into our home and murdered them one by one."
"What's your point for bringing up your sister into this? She's a demon only targeting the wrong enemy."
"No. Your wrong." I clenched my fist as Hiei held my sister close to his chest, "The enemies are demons. I should know that because not everyone is a heartless creature that has the potential to hurt humans." I lowered my head as I looked down, saying, "I may not understand why the demons hate us...I can sense what the emotions they are dwelling with inside are eating them up."
"The words you say are not what I was hoping to hear. You and your friends are going to be defeated as lower weaklings." Sensui said, his eyes narrowed at the four as I had my head hanging low with shadowy over my face.
Hiei was sitting up a little after getting his side kicked from earlier. I stood in front of the others that had no more strength to fight, "I will not let you hurt them. You took away someone else's life that fought everything they had to protect us. I won't let you take another person's life!"
"Tanjiro..." Hiei called out to me as I didn't look back at him, only to clench my sword, remove my cloak, and place it around Hiei and Nezuko.
"I will protect you...all of you," I say as I give them a candid look in my eyes before turning his heel and charging straight to Sensui.
"You're making a mistake if you're risking to kill yourself with no way of defeating me," Sensui said.
"I can still fight you with all of the strength I have left within me!" I shouted.
"Wait, Tanjiro! You'll get yourself killed!" Kuwabara exclaimed.
'I will not let this happen to anyone of us. Not after watching Yusuke risk his life fighting against this guy.' I thought as I gripped my sword, tightening it as I raised it.
"Tenth Form: Constant Flux!" I shout his most powerful Water Breathing technique. The swordsman performs a continuous flowing attack which takes a form of a water dragon that increases in strength and power with each rotation.
I swung my arm to avoid every possible move to chase Sensui and blocked Kurama and Kuwabara from shouting my name. I wasn't going to back down. A fight is what I'll give Sensui to avenge Yusuke for the loss of his life.
"I told you that you are not able to defeat me," Sensui says as he tightens his fist together as he begins to do another movement with his hand gestures. "Such a waste to watch you use your worthless power against me." He said that as I could sense him building up the energy with his armor, I felt his attacks pass by the shoulder, making me wince the more it was coming straight at me. But I was close to reaching him to find the thread, but as soon as I saw it cut the cord off.
"What?" I whispered.
"I can tell your searching for a thread to cut off my head? Not a chance." He swung a kick to send a kick straight me, but I dodged it, flipping backward to grip my sword to turn another attack at him. "Do you not realize when to quit?"He asked as I could hear how irritated he sounded. He gestures forward at me again, only to use another attack of his spiritual power to form some kind of heavy atmosphere hovering over me.
"Farewell." He bluntly said.
'I-I'm about to die! Is this it?' He thought.
I feared I would die, but then I started to remember my childhood with my family. My father was frail, but he would dance a kagura dance as a prayer to the God of Fire to ward of injury on New Year's, as our family worked with fire. I wondered how my frail father could dance in the snow, and my father tells me that he is using a unique breathing technique that lets him dance forever. I use his father's kagura dance with his sword, igniting the water dragon into a fire dragon that slashes the enhanced threads. I come within striking range, intent on Sensui.
'I will not give my life up! There is still a chance to defeat him and protect everyone, and I won't let Sensui win!' I holler at Sensui as I swing around my flaming sword to chase the male around on the field that was trying to get away. That's when I could see the thread aiming at his armor chest instead of his neck. Sensui is confounded by this upcoming new draw of an attack. Just before I was a few meters to get close from him, Nezuko woke her from her slumber to lend me her fire. The others watch as Nezuko uses her blood on the wires, suspending her in a Blood Art that makes the blood ignite, burning through Sensui. The fire travels down Sensui, severing the ones about to strike him, and my blade lands.
"The bond between Nezuko and I...can never be severed! Neither will I let you take the opportunity to kill anyone else!" I shouted; his blade, with Nezuko's burning blood on it, cuts through the armor that shocked Sensui.
I came back over to the others as I glared over at Sensui before wrapping my arms around the four. Weakened my muscles entirely, and I could no longer fight anymore.
