Episode 30 – Time to Train
In the unknown white void, Erb suddenly meets the green hair lady. This time, feeling completely aware, he immediately asks what she had done to him - he hoped of gaining some type of power after being enveloped by the light but felt no different. The lady informs him of the gift they intended to give him is simply too much, and he needed to start from scratch – what she did was simply unlock his own, natural potential. Then, she tells him to wake up, but her voice distorts into an uncomfortable sound.
Erb opens his eyes to see Linda shaking him to get up. He sees the time already being 4 in the morning, and almost went back to sleep. But she slaps him awake, forcing him out of bed. After getting dressed in sportswear, they meet Aurora wearing an outfit lent by Linda, and Aber waiting outside. Aber tells them their destination to be an area around 6 miles north of their current location, deep in the surrounding forest region. Erb had thought they would go back to their old dojo but his grandfather told him it was torn down years ago and even if it wasn't, it would be too small for them. Aber then leads the group in a quick sprint. Aurora and Linda follow him, but Erb gets immediately left behind. He follows the directions on a map given to him by Aber. On it, he also reads a written message, saying he must arrive at the location within the next 2 hours or else he will not teach him.
He follows the planned route but after nearly an hour into his hike, he gets lost. Thankfully, Aurora finds him and chose to lead him to the place herself. As they went forward, she had asked if he was feeling alright still, mentioning the experience they went through in the mindscape lingers on in her. He assures his persona is stable but did mention having a short talk with the green lady just before Linda woke him up. After relaying what was said, Aurora believes their decision was so that he can learn how to control his gift first rather than repeat what happened last time.
Eventually, the 2 reached the new dojo, consisting of a large wooden house and a larger padded ground with boulders on the side. He sees a completely drenched Linda pushing a house-size boulder across a tilted field. Aurora heads into the house whereas Aber congratulates Erb for reaching them, only to then direct him to the showers and start his trek to school after he's done. Erb comedically asked why; believing he was going to do some training. But Aber mentions his first real task is to traverse the same path every morning without fail and must cut down the travel time to below an hour – if he can't get here under an hour by next month, he will stop training him.
As Erb went inside worrying over his new condition, Aurora walks back out but had overheard their talks. She asked Aber why he plans to stop teaching him if he fails. He quietly told her he needed to see his grandson's determination first before he can fully commit. Then, he inquired about her; what was her purpose to train? He sensed she was exceptionally strong and adept in both aura and mana. She gets startled by his remark, and he reveals he acknowledged her abilities since the day they met, though he finds it odd that she had grown weaker all of a sudden. She confesses to having lost her powers but didn't know how or why – withholding certain details while sticking with her honesty policy. Aber performs another sensory check on her and quickly diagnoses the cause to be her origin – the source of her aura and mana – was damaged. But he assures her it can be fixed through proper rest and some spiritual exercises he knows; as for when she would be back to full strength, he couldn't tell.
Episode 31 – A New Purpose
Throughout half the day until lunch, Erb, still feeling tired from his morning run, was questioned by Sylvia, Sai, and Lyla when they noticed his unusual fatigue. Linda, who is with them and still brimming with energy, reveals they had done their first day of training together. He noted all he did was run over 6 miles. Sai questions how they were able to get to school, and Erb recalls his grandfather prepared his and Linda's uniform in advance and even brought his scooter for them to ride down a road that cuts all around the forest. He angrily asked his grandfather why he couldn't have taken the road in the first place, but was told it was nearly twice as long as the direct route given to him – spiraling down the mountainside and eventually leading to the nearest highway. Although Sai and Lyla find the idea of training the mountains in the morning to be stressful, hearing that Linda rode with their friend to school, leads them to tease the poor red boy over how romantic it must have been for him. Having heard his story though, Sylvia thought of doing the same – training her eye powers in hopes of making good use of them. All she needed was a good teacher and she knew one person.
At the training site, Aurora hones her martial arts by performing a set of movements, but at an extremely slow pace while keeping her muscles tensed at all times. Aber advised her to do so to improve her precision and further enhance her physique. Inevitably, nearing the bottom of her stamina reserves, she finishes her last sequences and crumbles to the ground. Although it took her a while, she rather enjoyed this new exercise, having almost forgotten what a successful workout had felt like, and knowing such a simple idea had given her this much difficulty. She takes a moment to rest but then speaks to Aber regarding the spiritual exercises he mentioned. He has her sit in front of him and takes a meditative posture. As instructed by him, she pictures her origin as a broken sphere and then has her energy leaving it, returning and melding with its surface. In no time, she achieves a new sensation she hadn't felt before and can feel herself healing, though only a little. Aber promises that if she does it every day, she will be able to recover.
When school was over, Erb prepares to go home but bumps into Mister Guin. Guin greeted him at first but then also suddenly asked how his writing was going. He confessed that he has to take a step back from it for the time being due to taking up a new hobby – martial arts training. Guin praises him for venturing into a new practice but also hopes he can somehow continue improving his literary skills as well, seeing it would be a shame. The leopard man then apologizes for the sudden chat, wanting to make up for what he said last they spoke – how he made it sound he was lacking a solid plan for his future. Erb didn't mind but questioned why he felt the need to do that. Guin knew of another student who once attended this school, with a similar aspiration as him, but then skipped out to join a gang. He just doesn't want Erb to end up the same and offers his consul if he ever has trouble figuring out what to do. The red boy thanks him, and their conversation ends with the red boy wondering what his future will be, now that he knows of the existence of otherworldly beings. His mind then wanders to how long it would be until he can reach the girl's level. The thought of being able to fight with them excited him, but at the same time, hoped he can one day prove to the beings inside, that he had what it takes to accept their power.
Episode 32 – Discipline
The weekend swiftly arrives, and after traversing the forest for the 5th time, Erb earns a new exercise routine. His task was to move a small boulder across a field a few times. He quickly attempts to do it but ends up unable to move it. He watches Linda doing the same, but with an even bigger rock than last, and is pushing it at a fixed fast pace. He also spots Aurora performing her routine, though was still confused as to why she was moving so slowly. After several hours, he succeeds in pushing his rock a few times across the field but then collapses. While Aber went inside the house to tend to his chores, Aurora walks over to the red boy, asking how he felt while healing his body – despite her magic powers having dwindled, she had enough to heal his injuries. Erb was beginning to regret his decision since he was making no progress with his travel time. But Aurora encourages him to continue and then leaves him to tend to Linda.
As afternoon clocks in, Erb returned home with Linda, while Aurora stayed behind with Aber to do her spiritual training. Coincidentally, they encounter Samantha standing with Sylvia and her Butler, Maxwell, in front of their home. Sylvia had told him of her gift having awakened and he was delighted to learn that. But she also wishes to speak with an expert about it and plans to speak to Umi to teach her – she had already spoken to both Erb and Samantha about it and they think he will help her. Maxwell was inclined to find her a proper teacher but heeds her desire under the condition of meeting Umi in person. Samantha leads them inside, leaving just Erb and Linda. Linda comments the butler is rather strong from the way his life force is, which leads her friend to ask if he was as strong as her. She quickly said no.
Sylvia, Maxwell, and Samantha went to the young girl's room and Samantha introduces Umi to both of them. Maxwell was surprised to meet a spiritual being – a rare species. Umi who was already told of what happened on the alternate timeline, but seeing Maxwell here, made sure to hide that fact. Umi tells Sylvia all he knew of her ancestor's powers - its true name being, the Omni-Sight - and would be more than happy to help her. Samantha asked her why she wouldn't ask her butler for help; Maxwell confessed his inability to give her proper guidance since her magic is special and he now believes Umi would be better suited for the job after hearing his insights. Sylvia asked the black seal if she could learn the same stuff as Samantha, but Umi reveals his pupil is one of a kind – capable of using nearly any type of magic, with Sylvia's magic eyes being one of the few exceptions. Maxwell quickly gives his high praises to the little girl, admitting it was extremely rare for anyone to have a high aptitude for every element. Samantha silently recalls both Agent Hughes and Mister Guin only used one type of magic – wind magic and support magic, respectively – which is common. Umi kept her high aptitude hidden to not boost her ego and begins to explain how the noble girl's eyes work.
The evening soon strikes and Sylvia and Maxwell were about to take their leave. Erb, Linda, and Samantha walked them out, and they are soon joined by Aurora and Aber who were also done. Sylvia, seeing the whole group here, cheerfully asks if they had any plans for tomorrow. Erb looks to his grandfather to know if they had plans to do more training, but Aber quickly informs them that they can have a break to recharge. Sylvia then leaves with Maxwell, and the others went in for dinner.
Afterward, when Erb was alone in his room, he earns a surprise visit from Linda, Aurora, Umi, and Samantha. Their surprise meeting was led by his little sister, who wanted to talk to them about her decision to let their mother and grandfather know of her gift tonight, and about attending a school that teaches magic. This came about after Maxwell had informed her and his mistress about an old but prestigious institution – hidden away from the public - where they can learn from modern-day magicians and hone their gifts. The school is called the Merlin Academia of Magitek; if they want to attend, they needed to let him know soon so he can set up an interview with one of the school's recruiters. Aurora believes it to be a good plan and knows both her mother and grandfather will understand. Erb and Linda though, imagine Kana being opposed to it, but they will support the little girl's choice.
Episode 33 – Confession
As everyone in the kinomoto residence had finished their meal, Samantha gathers them all to the living room, where she went and reveals her secret to both Kana and Aber. Kana was taken back by the revelation, and even more so to learn nearly everyone here - except Aber - already knew. Samantha mentions her father and O'Neil did not know, but hopes to keep it that way – believing they would be the most opposed to her decision. Umi then reveals himself, and finally greets Kana, who was startled by his appearance. Yet, Kana adapts to the situation and although she was hesitant to let her daughter attend a foreign school, she was convinced by the thought of her gifts being better utilized there than at home. Her acceptance made Samantha happy, but Kana turns her attention to Erb and the others, questioning if they also had the same gifts. But Aber told her they did not but are gifted in other ways. She then questioned what exactly he teaches them in the morning, which he answered by stating it was purely martial arts – Aurora sensed a lie from that.
The next day, Erb, Samantha, Linda, and Sylvia went together to the mall, in celebration of Samantha coming out. Aurora, however, chose to continue her training instead. They soon move to the food court to eat lunch, and Erb sits with Sylvia, whereas Samantha and Linda get their meals. Sylvia asked him how his training was going and he dismayingly gave his report. Erb returns one of his own, regarding if her parents knew of her magical eyes. She has yet to tell them and made sure her butler keeps her secret. She thinks her parents wouldn't be as understanding as theirs. As for the idea of going to another school, she chose not to go, seeing it to be a waste for her, since her eyes are the only thing special – Umi has yet to fully understand how they work since there had only been one other person with that power, making it practically an unknown ability to everyone else. Yet, she didn't want to give up - she chose to take a different path, hopefully, one that she can benefit others, whether it be a scientist or even a politician. Hearing her talk about her aspirations made Erb think back to what Mister Guin told him, of finding a future that best suited him. Suddenly, their conversation gets interrupted as a random hooded stranger steals Sylvia's purse and runs off. Erb quickly gave chase, leaving Sylvia behind.
He chases down the thief through the mall, and eventually exits outside. He manages to grab the purse from their hand but discovers the thief had led him to their friends, waiting to ambush him. The thief reveals themselves as a cat girl with short black hair and white skin. The others comprised a dog boy with brown fur, a fat green orc, a dark elf boy, a white bunny girl, and a dark skin muscular boy with a single green color horn on his forehead and dark greenish-grey hair, fashioned as a ponytail. Erb is then immediately attacked, but he handles the orc kid, dog boy, dark elf, and bunny girl by himself with little difficulty. Still, the young man with the greenhorn proved to be too much for him, displaying a level of skill far above a normal person. But out of nowhere, a large tanned man steps in, stopping the fight. Holding a large duffle bag and wearing a worn-out karate gi under a long ripped black coat, the stranger tells the kids to back off, unless they wish to fight the both of them. They didn't heed his warning and resumed their attack, but the tanned man thrashed the punks to the ground, all except the greenhorn, who put up a decent fight. Their quarrel then ends when the sound of sirens closing in, and the thugs ran away, giving Erb and his savior a moment of rest. When Erb stands back up, he notices the sirens were from a passing ambulance and not from a police cruiser. The man asked if he was ok, and he replies with his thanks. The man returns by giving his name, Taro Teruyama. They are soon joined by Linda who heard what happened from Sylvia, but is startled to meet Taro – sensing he was emitting aura. The other girls regroup with them, and they all meet the man, a wanderer who had just arrived in Velium City. He then bids his farewell to them and happily marches off. Erb hands Sylvia her purse, but she notices her wallet and phone were taken; he assumes the cat girl somehow slipped them out while they were running. Still, she was happy he tried, and can quickly deactivate her phone and cash cards using one of their own.
Episode 34 – Learning of Aura
As Monday arises, Erb managed to shave the travel time considerably, surprising himself. Aurora, Linda, and Aber praise him for it, though Linda jokingly surmised his revenge against the thugs was what helped him get more motivated. This led Aurora to inquire what had happened, which Erb disclosed. As he spoke though, he did note his jaw was still sore from before, and Aurora quickly uses Cure on him. He thanked her and felt his entire body being lighter, which made Linda concerned about whether or not the state of his mind reflected the same as his body. But Aurora explains Cure heals his physical ailments completely and uses mostly her own power and a little from the user's, allowing him to continue working at peak condition – though, his stamina does not get restored. Linda can picture themselves being able to continue training almost indefinitely until they get tired. She then guesses this was why Erb was able to rapidly improve. He, however, didn't feel that much stronger since he was still beaten by a bunch of thugs and had yet to use Aura.
Suddenly, Aber appears behind them, without anyone noticing, which made Erb ask how much he heard. His grandfather answers bluntly that he just heard their talk about aura, which he chose to give a quick lecture on. He does express his surprise to hear Erb knows it, and Linda lies for him, stating she showed it before, which was why he wanted to train. Aber then asked if Aurora had shown her powers to him, which left the others shocked – they didn't know Aber knew of her secret. But Aurora mentions her short interaction with him a few days ago, and Aber confessed he also knew of Samantha's little secret and Umi's existence for a long time – he only lied yesterday just so Kana wouldn't feel left out, and Aurora sensed as much.
Aber starts talking about the essence of aura; an extension of one's life force that can be manipulated either internally or externally. Depending on the individual, the color of their aura may vary, but the majority produce white – he notes, at the moment, the significance of color should not matter to them. Aber makes Linda demonstrates her aura and told her to destroy the boulder she was using to train. After she obliterates it in one go, he then explains aura's application; mainly to enhance one's physical power, though he does mention there are advanced forms of aura that can do more than just that. Out of curiosity, his grandson inquiries as to how magic is different from aura. The old man understands that mana in its most basic form had multiple applications from elemental manipulation, physical enhancements, etc. However, he does emphasize that aura is easier to cultivate and certain users can explosively break past their limits due to several factors, whereas mana is slightly harder to grow. Aurora supports his claim since she can use both types but is more comfortable with aura. Aber believes Erb is capable of producing his own naturally given enough time and the proper training. With his short lecture done, he makes them resume and gave Linda a new exercise to better enhance her aura reserves, though he does berate her for not keeping up with her aura training during her time away. Aber then also asks Aurora if she has been healing Erb and Linda during their training. She admitted her actions, and he tells her to not do it anymore unless they get serious injuries. He wanted to teach them the feeling of exhaustion; especially his grandson.
Episode 35 – Sudden Brawl
After a week passed from his first day of training, Erb was finished with school, but instead of going home, he went to the city, hanging out with Sylvia, Éclair, Sai, Lyla, and Johnny. Johnny invited them all to celebrate his acceptance at an internship for this summer; he chose to do it at a local maid-themed café that is owned by Lyla's family. Éclair had planned on hanging out with Sylvia, but then joined them for fun, whereas Lyla and Sylvia were both dragged along due to being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Erb was a little bothered by how the women were seductively dressed and asked Lyla why her cafés are themed as such; she begrudgingly explained it was due to her grandfather's and father's taste. He then imagines Sylvia, Éclair, Linda, and Aurora wearing the same uniforms, but stopped himself before his thought stray off.
Suddenly, Erb hears a group loudly making a ruckus and recognizes them from the mall incident. Except for the 2 girls and the greenhorn boy, he sees the dark elf, dog boy, and orc. The dark elf spots him and notifies the others. They then leave quickly, which made him skeptical.
Erb's group soon dispersed; Johnny, Lyla, and Sai went home, whereas Erb stays with Sylvia and Éclair – he had a feeling his friends let them be together for the sake of some romance occurring. But as they were walking, he notices the same thugs following them, and similar-looking guys walking in the opposite direction and across the street. To know if they were in danger, he had the girls follow him in a random direction. Sylvia asked where they were going, but he held off on telling her until the same groups changed direction towards them. Now, he had the girls run, leading the hoodlums on a chase. But the girls were unable to keep up with him, leading them to get trapped in a vacant spot. The orc kid walks up and demands they hand over Sylvia. Erb immediately refuses and so a big brawl happens. They all gang up on the lone fighter, overwhelming him to the ground and kicking him repeatedly. Éclair tries to shield Sylvia, armed with a stun gun she kept in her purse. Sylvia attempts to call the police but one of them dashes through Éclair and knocks her phone out of her hand, pinning her down. When Erb hears the girls shouting, the pain he was receiving turns into anger, and furiously lets out an outburst of aura, knocking his attackers away. His savage glare and red aura permeating from his body cause the thugs to run off in terror. He sees the girls safe and looking at him in disbelief, but before he realized what he had done, he faints.
Erb soon wakes up to see Aurora and Sylvia hovering over him. Aurora was healing his injuries but seeing her spurred him to sit upright. He then spots Linda and Éclair with them. Sylvia was the one who called both Aurora and Linda, rather than send him to the hospital – she didn't want his family to be startled by the news. Now, Erb, fully recovered, heard what had happened from Sylvia, discovering he somehow unlocked his aura. He became excited to know he had produced aura, only to then get a head knock by Linda, expressing her worry over him – she explained his overexertion led him to faint, but if he had used anymore, he could have very well died from it. But their talks move over as to why the thugs were interested in Sylvia, and Éclair's guess it was due to her status as the daughter of both the city mayor and governor – they may have wanted to take her hostage or something related to it. Erb would assume her status would deter some low-time thug to try anything, but the recent event proved him otherwise. Sylvia mentions her butler would usually guard her just for these situations, but she had recently loosened her security since she had them around. But then Éclair also brought up that this incident could be related to the murder sprees that have been going on recently. The others were interested to hear what she meant, and she goes further into detail about someone having killed many individuals with no discrimination, starting a week ago, only happens at night. The gruesome news didn't sit well with them, and out of safety, Erb, Aurora, and Linda chose to take both Sylvia and Éclair back home. Sylvia offers Éclair to let her stay at her mansion, but she declines since her hotel was closer by.
Episode 36 – Unwanted Attention
Elsewhere, in another part of the city, the gang that attacked Erb's group was being scolded by the greenhorn young man for having done what they did. Being their leader, the demi-human named Lokee demanded why they chose to attack the noble girl, knowing who she was. From their first encounter with the red kid, they discovered the girl whose phone and wallet they stole is the daughter of 2 politicians, so they chose to throw the items away for fear of being tracked. But when he learned of his members trying to kidnap her, he quickly reprimands them. But a blonde hair human male with a small scar on his right cheek, wearing a pristine suit, accompanied by a bald Asian man wearing similar attire, walks in, revealing he was the one who told them to do it. Lokee knows him as Barrex Dandorollo - one of the leading figures of Velium's biggest mafia family, the Dandorollo's - and the other is his bodyguard, Vetar. Barrex intended to scare the mayor's daughter as a warning for the recent rise in police activities against them, mainly due to their business with illegal drugs; kidnapping was a secondary objective. But the orc boy mentioned one of her friends had stopped them with some otherworldly power. This intrigued Vetar who questioned him further about it but then stops when the Orc boy didn't know anymore. Barrex gave the lower thugs their reward for having at least done their task and reminds Lokee that he and his gang work for him, thus, he should do as he's told, whether he likes it or not. The young man was about to make his rebuttal when the bodyguard stops him with a knife at his neck. Lokee wasn't afraid though and is prepared to fight back. Barrex quickly stops them, and in a laid-back manner, he apologized for his subordinate's action. The 2 men then leave after giving Lokee and his gang one more order, which was to reach this month's quota of CHERS and EV12 sales before the next shipment arrives.
Days went by after the incident, and on the 13th day of training, Erb makes a miraculous new record on his travel time, almost reaching the 1-hour mark. Aber congratulates him and gave him a few new exercises to do. He also wanted to teach him how to properly meditate, but Erb requested he learns how to use aura. He confessed to having used it before, yet hasn't been able to do it again ever since – he didn't mention the incident to anyone in his family and made sure his mother didn't know, for fear of her stopping him from training. But his grandfather explains meditation will help him refine his concentration which in turn will assist him in using his aura; the key is to learn how to breathe. To prove his point, he chose to teach him meditation first. Sadly, after many failed attempts of reaching the right mindset, Aber holds off on it and tells his grandson to focus on other aspects of his training. He regroups with Aurora and Linda, and asks them how they were able to awaken their powers. Aurora reveals she was born with it from the start, whereas Linda had to do the same thing he was doing before, but got it after her first try.
Later in the day, as school was ending, Erb continues to contemplate how to reach the correct mindset, until he gets interrupted by Sai and Lyla, who invited him to go to the café. He declines the invite – secretly wanting to work on his aura. He is then joined by Sylvia who plans to go with him to his place for her magic lessons with Umi. He asked if she had any new troubles, and she happily tells him nothing had occurred. She didn't inform her parents of the incident for the same reason as Erb; she was more afraid they would give her more bodyguards and make her home-schooled. She feels safe enough with just Erb and the others being with her.
Elsewhere, Vetar and his men were in the car with one of Lokee's guys, the orc boy named Howe. Vetar asked what his gang leader had been up to, and Howe gave his report – he was assigned as a spy for Barrex. With no new information to give, the bald man then inquiries about the recent killings – if they had anything to do with it. But Howe assures them Lokee would kill them if they had done anything like that, and heard some of the other gangs were on edge due to their members being among the victims. Vetar only asked because the panic was negatively affecting their business. With nothing else to ask, the bald man lets him go, but Howe hesitated to leave. Outside, he spots the same 2 kids who were with Erb back at the café – the little blonde girl and the Asian kid. The mobster notices them since they were the only people in clear view and asked if he knew them. After Howe disclosed what he knows, Vetar thought of a way to cure his boredom.
Episode 37 – First Real Fight
Sai separated from Lyla and was on his way home until he is stopped by a single man. Vetar steps forward and asks if he is friends with the red kid. The young man lies and feigns ignorance, but the bald man did not believe him and openly states he was going to ask his little girlfriend who was with him before instead. Sai, feeling threatened by him, chose to make his stand, which the mobster obliges by taunting him to attack. Sai does so, but in a blink of an eye, black smoke spews out from the man's body and wraps around the boy. The mobster used magic to conjure black smoke which he manipulates to shroud Sai's vision, making him unable to see. Vetar then beats him down several times, laughing while doing so. He stops shortly after, takes his phone, and leaves him barely alive.
At home, Erb earns a text message from Sai's phone, asking him to meet somewhere in the city to talk about an important matter. He didn't understand what he wanted and when he asked for the reason, he gets stoned walled. Regardless, he heads out, letting his mother know.
Erb arrives at a junkyard that was on the outskirts of the northeast part of the city, accessible by a single road. He had only once come here when he got to pick out a used scooter for himself, so he was vaguely familiar with the area. However, he then encounters a bald Asian man with the same orc kid who had attacked him. He immediately pieced together what had happened to have led him here and demanded where Sai was. Vetar casually responds by saying his friend was most likely at the hospital now. Erb becomes enraged but rather than fight him, he wanted to leave to check on Sai. However, the presence of more suited men cut his escape. The bald man stops his men from interfering and wanted to fight the red boy by himself. One of his subordinates voices his concern, but he punches him in the face for his trouble, displaying his physique being slightly higher than the average athlete. Vetar then takes out a knife and slowly walks to the demi-boy. Erb brings his guard up to fight him, but the man's body starts spewing black smoke. It then covers his view, causing him to frantically swing his punch. He then suffers several cuts and hears the man happily laughing at him while demanding he shows his true power. He realizes Vetar is a magic user like his sister and had no means of defending himself against it. He soon succumbs to the pain and feels a knife stabbing him in the stomach. As he fell and bleeds out, Vetar, disappointed, leaves him to die rather than kill him outright. But upon hearing the man belittle him, Erb's mind relives the moment Argon had tormented them and felt how pathetic he was. The thought of a single man about to end his life angered him to the point of standing back up, pushing past the pain, and unknowingly producing his aura in full force, strong enough to shake the surroundings and grab Vetar's startled look. With all the strength he can muster, Erb rushes him with a single punch, while the man counters with another knife stab. However, the blade snaps against his aura, allowing the red boy to land a clean, powerful hit on his face. With their boss down, the other men open fire with their guns at Erb, who had no more strength to fight back.
But crashing out of a wall, the same man who saved him before, Taro, leaps in between him and the bullets, blocking them with his body. The mobsters were startled by his entrance and observed their shots were bouncing off of him. Taro, a fellow aura user, coated his entire body with aura, shielding himself from the bullets. After they were done shooting, he grabs hold of a nearby car, picks it up with all his might, and throws it at them. He intentionally misses, but it frightened them away.
With the enemy gone, Taro looks to Erb, who was still standing but eventually falls. He was about to take him to safety until his instincts force him to leap back. He does so, and from the sky, a girl crashes down with a sundering drop kick, cracking the ground wide open. Aurora, having sensed Erb's life force spiking, rushed over to his location, and when she spotted a man standing over him, she immediately attacked, thinking he was the one responsible. Taro, frightened by the fearsome force being projected by her, quickly professes he was helping her friend, and Aurora immediately knew he was telling the truth.
Episode 38 – The Need for Power
Shortly after, Erb finds himself still in the junkyard, but with Aurora and Taro now with him. He asked Aurora how she found him and Taro where he came from. Aurora sensed his large outburst of aura, and Taro was living in the junkyard, sleeping until he also felt the same. There, he tries to surprise the red boy with the fact that he was an aura user like him, though Erb already knew when Linda told him after he had left. Both parties then return with their questions, both related to what had happened, and Erb tells them. When he was done, he requested Aurora not to tell his mother any of this, though all she can promise is she won't mention it unless asked. Suddenly, Aber chimes in out of nowhere, stating his mother would be furious if she found out. The 3 individuals shockingly yelped out loud at his quiet entrance, but Aber explains he had followed Aurora after sensing the same thing. Now, after examining the sudden aura spike from his grandson, he knew he had tapped into his powers, but it wasn't a full awakening. He expresses his concerns about how he brought it out, guessing he forced it, rather than naturally unlocking it. By forcibly doing so, he risks damaging the pores that allow his aura to come out, making it more difficult for him to use it next time. But he does note Aurora's healing magic may have saved him more than he realized since she was able to repair his damaged pores. Taro expresses his shock when he saw her use magic, stating it was the first time he had seen it, which led Aber to ponder his identity. Taro introduces himself as a wanderer, looking to fight strong individuals but to also find a proper job. Much to his delight, he meets one fighter, but to his dismay, he already can tell he would be no match for them – specifically, he meant Aurora. He then asks the elderly red man if he was her master, but Aber says no, and quickly inquiries if he lives in the junkyard. Taro admitted he recently moved in and has been living here illegally. At that moment, sounds of nearby voices catch their ears, and Aber advises they head out. However, Erb remembers Sai's condition, and looks for his phone, finding several missed calls by Lyla.
After calling Lyla back and hearing of Sai being in the hospital, Erb and Aurora went to where he is, meeting her and Sai's sister, Aiko. Aber chose to head back by himself to let Linda know, whereas Taro went on his way to find another home. Erb and Aurora were informed of his condition was stable but received concussions, bruises, and some internal damage. As for how he got injured, they didn't know - someone found him unconscious and called an ambulance. Aiko believed it may be the work of the serial killer that had been making the headlines and had already requested her little brother get protection from the police. Erb and Aurora knew better though, but they dared not to tell her the truth.
Due to the late hours, they were unable to see him, so they all left. On their way home, Erb professes to Aurora he hated feeling weak and wants to get stronger as quickly as possible; the people who attempted to kidnap Sylvia were associated with the same group who hurt his friend and even attacked him. He wanted to pay back those who were responsible. She consults him by explaining people who seek revenge against those who wronged them are bound to become no better than their aggressor. But she also hated the idea of individuals with powers, abusing their gifts for their selfish gains. She then divulges having seen his memories from when they were in the mindscape, saw his anger but also his good heart, and confidently puts her support in helping him, knowing his actions are for a just cause. But she makes him promise to not seek power for the sake of vengeance, but for the need of it; when it counts the most, and with pure intentions. He keeps their promise and to make sure they do things right, he decides to call Hughes for his assistance.
Episode 39 – Counter Attack
The next day, after school, Erb drives home with Sylvia, who already knew what happened to Sai thanks to Lyla, and after Erb told her of his fight with some mobsters, she chose to give her assistance. They then see Agent Hughes in his suit waiting outside of his SUV in front of Erb's home. Erb then leads him on a trip to the secret road and then drives through the forest, reaching the training site soon after. They meet Aurora greeting them, and Linda with her – who already arrived on foot since leaving school. But in addition, Taro is seen coming out of the house with a pot of stew. Erb quickly questions how he came here, and the muscular man recounts his second encounter with Aber earlier today. While looking for a new home, he meets Aber at a noodle stand and together they conversed. Eventually, Aber chose to help him by allowing the man to stay temporarily at the dojo, just so he can find work in the city. In addition, if he so chooses, can train together with his grandson and his friends. Taro gladly accepted and since then he met Aurora again, and shortly before Erb's arrival, he gets to see Linda – who was also told of what happened yesterday and immediately went on board with dealing with the mobsters. While he was here, he underwent his training until he started to get hungry – hence the stew he made. Erb then looks for his grandfather but Aurora told him he was away on business, leaving the dojo to them.
Erb informs Hughes of what transpired and upon mentioning a man who can conjure black smoke, the agent pulled up an image of his suspected attacker on his phone. Erb confirms it, allowing the man to disclose his name to be Vetar; an ex-hitman who turned bodyguard for the Dandorollo; one of the largest criminal organizations within Erban's underworld society. They are allegedly in control over various businesses from virtual trade markets to smuggling illegal items. The government has attempted to arrest them, but they hid their trails well enough to keep themselves safe. He recalls one of the drug busts he partook in was supposed to be run by the Dandorollo, but they instead found some local gang operating it. If Erb had captured Vetar, then they would have had a chance to get some information. However, Aurora had a means of tracking the man down through his mana – when she first got there, other than Taro and Erb, she sensed a 3rd individual with a prominent life force and assumes it was from Vetar. Within minutes, she pinpoints his location somewhere in the city. Having a lead, Hughes takes Aurora to find out precisely where and despite his better judgment, also asked Sylvia to come – mainly because her magic eyes could prove useful. But Linda expresses her eagerness to join, and so when Hughes lets her. She, in turn, takes Erb with them, as extra muscle and even asked Taro if he wanted in. But the large man declined after getting a headache over how complicated their story was.
Hughes drives to where Vetar is, and much to their surprise, they were at the hospital where Sai is being treated. The agent also lets them know the place is rumored to be in the pocket of the Dandorollo. Coincidentally, their target is seen walking out with a blonde-haired man, whom Hughes knows as Barrex – one of the Dandorollo's leading figures; a caporegime within the family. They watch them get into a car, so they tailed them. Sylvia uses her Omni-Sight, putting her training to the test. With Umi's tutelage, she succeeds in both seeing and hearing them speak.
Barrex berates his bodyguard for being beaten by a high schooler, but Vetar explains he had mistaken him for a magic user but is a power user. He informs him of how dangerous power users are compared to magic users in terms of close combat, and his bruised face is evidence of that. Barrex didn't pay much mind to it but then thinks of putting a hit on the boy since he may be alive. To divert suspicion of them being the ones responsible, he plans to make Lokee's gang, the Dollar Horns, take care of him, along with his friend who's at the hospital. Sylvia relays this message to the others, which made Erb panic. But before he could ask Aurora to sense if his friend is safe, she assures him he is fine and well. Linda wonders if the recent spree of murders were because of the mafia, but Hughes suspects it wasn't them judging from their past activities. Hughes then talks about the serial killer's existence and much to his dismay, they have no idea who's responsible, only that they were aiming for homeless people and those unfortunate enough to be wandering at night alone. He also discloses who the Dollar Horns are; a new gang that formed a year ago, numbering well over a hundred members, but recently, rumors spread that they are working under the Dandorollo's as drug dealers. Sylvia continues eavesdropping on them, and Barrex changes the subject to a new shipment of products coming next week, and he needs him to be there for the transactions to go smoothly. He then mentions they need to remain vigilant of the other caporegimes and the boss of what they're doing since this shipment wasn't approved by them. Hughes is led to surmise this could be the break they needed to take them down; they first get Barrex, make him talk, settle on a deal and have him turn on the other members. Sadly, Sylvia couldn't find out where the deal was taking place and they were slowing down at a familiar hotel. Her eyes soon strain from overuse, and Aurora notices. Hughes ends their investigation for today and plans to bring in his people to continue their work. But Erb recalls the hotel to be where Éclair lives and knew she could be a big help. He calls her, and she picks up, but suddenly starts teasing him for her enjoyment. But after he asked if she could help with their investigation, she agreed, but under the condition of him, and the other girls, joining her on a night out on Friday.
Episode 40 – Night Life
Friday night had arrived and Erb was waiting downstairs in an outfit sent to him by Éclair – an attire from the clothing brand, Neon, consisting of a black and grey jacket with gold and red linings, a white shirt underneath, dark grey pants, and a pair of black, gold and red shoes. He first thought the package could be a bomb sent by the Dandorollo goons in retaliation for their last encounter, but his worries disappeared after getting Éclair's message about a gift sent to him. He had been on constant alert and visited Sai every day after school to check on him. Much to his relief, nothing happened; he can only assume it was thanks to the police detail placed on his friend by Hughes's order - protection against local gangs who put him there in the first place. But as insurance, when Aurora visited Sai, she cured his injuries just enough to make him regain consciousness – making it seem he recovered on his own. The matter regarding the crime family was put on hold as Hughes sets up a task force with his superior; he convinced them of a potential bust with what Éclair had gathered from Barrex's email and phone calls after remotely hacking into his computer.
Shortly later, Aurora and Linda soon join him, both wearing their neon outfits. Luckily for them, Erb's mother was absent for her meet-up with her friends but was informed beforehand they were going out. He soon earns a text message from Éclair, stating she and Sylvia were outside. They meet them riding a self-driving limo, and board it.
Éclair praises their looks and tells them of how she came to Sylvia's place wearing a different, proper dress just to hide their true intentions for tonight. When they left, they both changed into their neon attire. Linda asks where they were going, and Éclair tells them they were going to a live rave concert to which she was invited. She does reveal one of the sponsors is the Dandorollos after doing a quick background check on it – which turns out to be an illegal venue but highly popular and exclusive to the high-class society. Initially, she didn't want to go since it would have been boring, but after what they went through, she changed her mind and thought they could get some intel on the enemy through the crowds. Sylvia quickly scolds her for hiding the fact that they were stepping into the enemy's territory since they all promised Hughes, they wouldn't take any action against them. Aurora brings up the possibility of letting the other mafia members know of Barrax's shady action and could put a stop to him, though Linda points out that would give the government a harder time in arresting them. On a different topic, Erb brought up why Éclair was invited to an illegal concert in the first place, but she teasingly doesn't answer.
They soon reach the underpass of a bridge where Éclair brings with her a large yet light bag, and leads them to a partially hidden doorway. The door opens up an underground passageway, and after a few flights down, they hear music and reach another door where a bouncer blocks them. But when Éclair shows the contents of the bag to him, he lets them inside and they enter a large spacious interior, big enough to fit a thousand people, with a rave taking place. She then leaves them, disappearing into the crowd, and the others remain by an empty wall. Shortly later, the crowd went silent and their focus moved to the center of a stage, where they see Éclair, wearing a green neon-colored mouse mask to cover her entire head, performing behind a stand as a DJ under the alias, J-Star. Everyone beside Erb's group became enraptured by her performance, and they quickly learn why she was invited.
As the event went on, Erb's group was stuck unable to do anything as every one of them wasn't willing to interact with the other folks. But Erb sees the cat girl, who stole Sylvia's purse, dancing in the crowd but at the same time pickpocketing the people around her. Linda, spotting her, gets in close with her guard down, purposely letting herself be open. The cat girl takes her bait, and when she tried to reach in, Linda catches her arm in time and playfully drags her with no trouble to the others. They then move over to a more isolated space where Sylvia questions her as to why her friends tried to kidnap her and attacked Erb. The girl didn't know what she was talking about and refuses to speak. But Aurora discreetly uses her Perception to read her mind and was able to understand what happened to lead them all here – she learns her name is Celine, and it all started from the theft of Sylvia's belongings. The mobsters who discovered they made contact with her, used them to scare her father by attempting a kidnapping. After Erb scared them off with his abilities, one of the mobsters, Vetar, got wind of his existence. As for why Vetar chose to attack him, the girl had no knowledge, except, on the same night, he saw her orc friend, Howe, come running into the hideout, acting hysterical but wouldn't disclose what occurred. Celine was perplexed by how she knew all of that, and out of desperation, she stomps Linda's foot to get away. Linda wasn't hurt by it; however, a few men approach them, requesting they let Celine go and follow them to their boss.
Episode 41 – The Dandorollo Family
They walk upstairs to a second open floor with a view of the first floor beneath them. Celine rushes to the side of a black hair human man, and he introduces himself as Dutch Dandorollo – cousin to Barrex and another caporegime of the Dandorollo.
Dutch reprimands his daughter, Celine, for pickpocketing the people below despite him having repeatedly told her not to. He then inquires as to what their relationships were with his daughter and Sylvia explains their first interaction. Dutch berates his daughter again, this time for hanging around with the Dollar Horns and not focusing on her studies for college. Celine argues back but is then sent home as punishment with one of his men, escorting her out. After she left, he shifts the subject to them, specifically, Sylvia, the daughter of 2 influential politicians, and further questions her intentions here.
Sylvia openly admitted one of their fellow mobsters tried to kidnap her and attacked their friend with no provocation. Dutch had no clue what she was talking about and proceeds to threaten her for merely accusing his group of doing something reckless. But she adds on the fact that Barrex had been dealing behind their backs, awaiting a secret shipment. This time, the man was a little intrigued, expressing his distrust over his cousin – calling him a weasel - and wanted her to say more. Sadly, Sylvia had no other information relating to it, other than that it was going to take place in a few days. Dutch, sensing they were wasting his time with a bold lie, demands they leave before he had his men force them, but Linda openly questioned if it would be alright for them to take down Barrex themselves. He laughed at the notion and made fun of them for being kids who didn't know better. Linda then states they weren't afraid of facing the mafia down since Erb had already beaten Vetar. That news got his attention after having seen Vetar recently with a bruised face, yet he didn't fully believe a kid could beat a professional hitman. Linda admits they weren't regular kids and proves her point by walking up to a wall, and throwing multiple lightning-fast jabs at it with just her left arm but doesn't make contact once. After stopping, she throws an open palm strike at the same spot, creating a large circular dent that was almost as big as her. Dutch and his men were shocked by what happened, and coincidentally, Éclair walks in through a door, wondering if they were done.
Earlier, Éclair saw them leave with suited men, so she left the DJ stand with a pre-programmed list that automatically plays in her absence. She snuck to where they were and waited outside the door for them until now – believing the mini earthquake she felt was their signal of their talks being over. Dutch was perplexed by how the green girl got past his guards and the electronically locked door. She noted it was easy for her to access the doors since she already hacked their security system. As for the guards, from her cat ear headpiece, the ears transformed into mini flying drones, each capable of firing electric projectiles, strong enough to stun a grown adult. She incapacitated his men before they knew what hit them.
Erb is the first to ask why she was armed but gets interrupted by Dutch who retaliate by threatening their lives with the full might of the Dandorollo family. With a single hand gesture, he makes his men come forward, and one of them – a human man with black hair - begins to emit a faint white light from his body, revealing himself to be a magic user. But before they could do anything, Aurora intervenes; instantly getting behind each of the men with a swift knock to the back of their heads, putting them down. Dutch watch them all fall and was about to pull out his gun to shoot the blue girl until he locks eyes with her. Aurora instills her willpower, subduing him with ease, but not putting him unconscious. Unable to move, he drops his gun and fell back on his seat. He asked why they would be willing to go to war with the Dandorollo family. Erb replies that they do not wish to fight them, but only Barrex for what he had done; if the rest of them go to his defense, he and his friends will do everything they can to stop them. Dutch, now sensing they were serious, and thinking about what's best for the family, begs them to stay while he makes a quick phone call. Linda warns him that if he tries to bring more of his men to save him, she'll pummel them all. But he assures her he was calling his boss. His call gets picked up, and after Dutch explains the situation, he hangs up and informs the others his boss wishes want to meet them.
Episode 42 – The Boss
They soon arrive at a mansion on the eastern outskirts where they are led inside by Dutch and into a large room where they meet with an old man sitting behind a large desk and an old dark skin lady acting as a maid. The man introduces himself as Marcus and asks why they chose to pick a fight with them. Sylvia clarifies they only wish to stop Barrex from bothering them. Aside from their accusation of his secret dealings, Marcus does not take their word because he does not trust them and should have them killed for wasting his time. However, Aurora shares her thoughts on trust needing to be earned from both sides and uncovers the man is not who he said he is; lying about his identity as the leader of their family. Her words caused the mobsters to be disturbed, but she sensed the lady attending to the tea was unmoved and far stronger than them. She calls her out as the true leader, and Marcus was about to refute her. However, the lady tells him to stop. He immediately does so, and she congratulates Aurora on finding her out. She then asked if she was a magic user. Aurora confessed but she can also see her true self hidden behind an illusion. The woman smirks and with a snap of her finger, a layer of water dissolves, revealing a tall, beautiful buxom dark skin woman in her prime with short blonde hair, wearing a black bodysuit and white fur coat. She lets them call her Marbel, the true head of the Dandorollo family.
As the fake boss – the under-boss of the family - switches places with Marbel, she sits down and apologizes for the deception. Their talks soon revert to the original topic, regarding their accusation of one of her caporegimes dealing behind her back. Although she suspected Barrex of wrongdoing, she didn't have proof. Thus, for the time being, she cannot do anything to him. If they also plan to take him down, they would have to deal with his men along with the gangs under his control, one of them being the Dollar Horns. She does, however, tell them they can weaken Barrex's forces by taking out the gangs – with fewer men to take care of his operations, she predicts he'll make mistakes that could reveal his hand. She can't have her men questioning the gangs, but after hearing Dutch of what they did – a young red boy defeating Vetar; a blonde girl who can crush concrete walls with ease; and a blue-haired woman who not only defeated Dutch's men with lightning speed but also seen through her illusion - she had confidence they would be able to do it. If they only target the gangs, then they wouldn't be directly fighting the Dandorollo, thus they would not receive any retaliation from them, except Barrex's faction. However, in return for letting them do as they please, she wants them to work for the Dandorollo's from here on. Surprisingly, Erb bluntly refused on behalf of the group out of instinct, which causes everyone in the room to give him a somewhat eye-opened look at how fast he responded. Even Marbel was taken back since she had never met someone who quickly refused her. Sylvia took the reins of the talks and stated they have no intention of working for them and have ties with the HOD if they plan to force them. The mafia boss became impressed by their boldness and sensed she wouldn't be able to sway them. So, she instead asks for a favor in return – as for what the favor is, she will let them know in the near future. Reluctantly, Erb's group accepts, and then leaves the mansion safely.
Upon exiting, Sylvia lets out a gasp of air and expressed her amazement at how things went. Erb also felt the same but was amazed by the performance of the other girls throughout the entire ordeal. Aurora, Linda, and Éclair send their compliments on Sylvia's charisma and Erb's upfront attitude. Now, with an aim in mind, they went to work on how to deal with the Dollar Horns first, and then the other gangs.
Marbel, watching them leave, informs Dutch and Marcus to contact their informants in the HOD to get information on all of them. Marcus advises they should have some of their men watch them, but she disagrees for fear of getting found out. She can tell the blue girl had exceptional sensory skills and was by far the strongest of them all from the amount of energy she was producing – although the girl was hiding it, Marbel can detect her powers far surpass her own, and dared not to anger her without preparations.
Episode 43 – Dollar Horn
The next day, Erb, Linda, and Aurora track down Celine, knowing she was associated with the Dollar Horns and can lead them to their hideout. Sylvia and Éclair provided overwatch from Éclair's hotel room, through a tiny camera embedded in Linda's sunglasses. With Aurora's sensory skills and having peered into the girl's mind before, they soon locate her a few blocks away and tailed her for an hour. She then stops at an abandoned subway station between the Western outskirts and Heaven's Gallery – located near the southernmost part of the city. Aurora and Linda both sense around 1 hundred people inside, though one of them had a surprisingly higher than normal power level.
They infiltrate with the help of Aurora making themselves invisible, and further in, they walk down through a tunnel, soon spotting the cat girl greeted by some familiar faces. One of them is the greenhorn young man, Lokee, who asked her why she came. Celine wanted to warn Lokee of the red kid they've been messing with having paid her a visit along with the mayor's daughter – she didn't want to risk calling him for fear of her phone being tapped somehow. He was surprised she encountered them and questioned what they asked; Celine didn't say anything and only mentioned the blue girl with them was somehow able to know everything, as though she read her mind. The orc boy, Howe, then joins in when he heard the same kid he saw before was mentioned, and frighteningly warns his leader to not involve himself with his group, thinking there was something strange about them. But Lokee had no choice now – he was told by Barrex to deal with the red boy and his friend in the hospital. Since then, he had held it off, not wanting his boys to take the blame. But knowing the other group met Celine and her dad, who was Barrex's cousin, word will get around soon enough that he hadn't done as asked.
After hearing all of that, Erb whispers to the others about what they should do, thinking the Dollar Horns may be victims with no way out. They too weren't sure of what their situation was, but Linda, not wanting to beat around the bush, chose to ask directly. Before Erb could stop her, she steps out and reveals themselves to the gang. The thugs went on high alert, and Lokee demanded how they got in. Celine quickly professes she made sure no one followed her, but Linda saves her skin by stating they would've been able to find her even if she was halfway across the city. Linda then questions why don't they cut ties with Barrex. He ignores her question and orders his gang to capture them. As more gangsters rush in, Linda lets out a roaring wave of aura, stopping them from getting closer. The greenhorn boy was shocked by her supernatural powers, but quickly shouts at his guys to grab weapons. They did as he said, and stand their ground, ready to fight. Their bravery left an impression on the blonde girl, but their numbers didn't scare her. Erb however, is the only one who's nervous. Aurora was of the same attitude as Linda, but fighting against a large number of weak opponents would be a waste of time and effort. So, she chose to make a compromise – she wants to settle their differences with a 1-on-1 fight, between their leaders, Lokee and Erb. Erb gawked over the suggestion and was pegged as the leader but Aurora whispers to him of this being his chance to get back at him for last time and use what he learned. Lokee, intrigued by the thought, still asked why he should fight the kid who he beat before. Linda lets him know that he beat a guy named Vetar by himself, and Erb points out the orc thug who was there as his witness. Lokee looks at Howe for the truth and he nods. Thus, Lokee takes up the offer, interested to see for himself, and orders everyone to move to their fighting ring.
They all went further down the tunnel which leads outside to an abandoned pier and all of the dollar horn members cheer for their leader as he gets ready. Erb nervously but excitingly sits by a corner with Linda and Aurora giving their support. Both young men step into their make-shift ring and after setting the rules, they fought.
Episode 44 – Erb vs Lokee
In the morning, Erb, Linda, and Aurora continue their training alongside their new friend, Taro. Erb questions Aber when he would be able to learn martial arts since he was able to produce aura. His grandfather tells him he must first complete his basic aura training and gain more muscle. However, Aurora voices her opinion on the matter, finding his training order odd, since Erb could learn how to fight while he trains his aura. Aber reveals he doesn't teach the conventional martial arts, but rather teaches how someone can learn any move and make it their own – essentially copying. At the moment, he deems Erb to lack the sufficient physical strength to use the basic level, whereas Linda is almost at the intermediate stage. Erb attempts to do a full body aura but only manages to cover his forearm and lower legs. Taro openly pondered as to why he was producing so little compared to before, but Aber knew – his grandson's forced awakening used up all of the aura he stored all at once; if he manages to achieve full body aura cover, he would be able to sustain his output much longer and more safely. He then adds that a full cover will also provide protection to him against non-aura-based and aura-based attacks such as a punch or a gun, and when distributed evenly throughout his body, he can counter with even stronger blows. Finally, he warns Erb that if he were to only cover his arm with aura and strike someone, the rest of his body that isn't protected will feel the recoil of the force he exerted, thus he would be unintentionally hurting himself. However, he can still use the aura around his arms as protection. Aber then makes Taro spar against him, and his task was to guard against his punches as best he can as a part of his body conditioning.
In the present time, Erb does his best guarding against Lokee who was surprisingly much faster and stronger than last time – although he wasn't near Linda's or Taro's level, he at least rivaled them. His martial arts style also made the fight difficult, resembling Muay Thai.
On the sideline, Aurora and Linda watch attentively while isolating themselves from the others. Aurora was curious about Lokee's fighting style and inquires Linda about it. She identifies it as Lethwei – similar to Muay Thai but more lethal and brutal - and remarks how strong he is without the use of energy, giving Erb a hard time despite using aura to guard; though she does point out the amount he produced was no better than him having an extra layer of thin clothing. Aurora believes Erb has a chance at beating him, yet Linda thinks otherwise. She points out the dark skin kid is an Oni demi human – a rare breed that's hailed for their natural physique and their main characteristics are their horns sticking out of their foreheads. She had fought a group of them before and had a hard time at it. Combined with Lethwei, she can only imagine how devastating it would be if Lokee performs a signature headbutt at Erb.
Erb defends against Lokee's thanks to his aura but was beginning to get weaker as he uses it up. Lokee, initially startled to see the boy's arms giving off a faint red glow, is still confident he can win. Eventually, Erb's arms get too damaged, and when he drops them, he earns a clean shot to his face. Although he gets knocked down, he was able to move his aura from his hands to his head, giving him some added protection. Before the thug could get another hit, Erb uses his tail to grab one of his legs and trips him. He gets back up and was about to kick him in the face full force – aura infused. But he stops upon imagining himself accidentally killing the guy, so he backs away. His friends notice his hesitation but were glad he didn't go through with it for the same reason.
Lokee took his hesitation as an opening and recovered to resume his combos. Erb, not wanting to block anymore, chooses to evade his punches. But as he focuses his aura around his head, he notices his opponent was moving slower. He then took a quick look around and notices everyone also slowing down ever so slightly. It was then he figured it was due to his aura enhancing his level of perception and was quick to learn his body can react in time. With a calm mind, he is now able to evade effectively.
Aurora happily smirks when Erb learned how to adapt to his movements on his own and can sense the end of their match was close.
As Lokee throws one more punch, Erb performs a throwing move, reminiscent of Linda's judo throws, and tosses Lokee to a pile of cardboard boxes. His opponent furiously hops back to his feet and charges at him. Erb attempts to counter his incoming punch and places his aura in his fist to boost his power just enough to knock him down. But he accidentally removes his own heighten perception and was unable to react to his punch in time. They trade off their blows, and the 2 men knocked each other out cold, ending in a draw.
Episode 45 – Dealings
Erb wakes up, now at the dojo, with the last thing he remembers was fighting Lokee. Aurora coincidentally walks in – sensing he had awakened - and lets him know she had taken him to the dojo to recover. After his fight, many of the Dollar Horns weren't going to let them go since it ended in a draw, but Celine settled them down by declaring their match will be postponed. She safely led Erb's group outside, and when they were far enough away, she tells them even if he had won, their deal with Barrex can't be broken for reasons she can't disclose. She then assures Lokee won't send anyone of his members after him or his friend, noting he isn't a guy who kills. Aurora healed Erb's injuries and although he messed up at the end, she congratulates him in a hard-earned fight. He didn't feel it was well-earned since he used aura against a non-power user, but she clarifies with what Linda had said – that the amount of aura he used to protect himself only amounts to be as effective as an extra layer of clothing; he had his strong conditioned body to thank for. She does point out that if he had the same amount of aura when he fought Vetar, he would have won. He asks where Linda was and is told she's waiting outside with the others. They left the house and see Linda, Sylvia, and Éclair discussing what their next move was. Now, having their initial plan in dealing with the Dollar Horn put on hold, they had to revise their next steps. They did think of attacking the other gangs instead, but unlike the Dollar Horns, they had no lead on where their hideouts would be. On a different note, Erb wondered where Taro was, but Linda told him he had left earlier to do some job hunting in the city.
Elsewhere, Hughes was stationed outside one of Barrex's business fronts with a whole squad of armed HOD agents. After getting the approval for a task force, he immediately went to work in hitting all of the known fronts led by Barrex – thanks to Éclair's findings. The one he was about to raid is a loan agency that was supposed to be used for money laundering. But the agency was also a front for drug trafficking – distributing their products through the gangs. The building appeared vacant but with a digital search warrant, he and his team stormed inside. But what they find was a blood bath left behind by what appeared to have been a wild animal, or an insanely strong individual. They carefully searched the premises and determined the products were present, and the murders were recent, but the perpetrator couldn't be found. Hughes then calls the other raiding teams at the other buildings of their status. All of them responded, except for one; it was located several blocks away. He takes half of his men and went to the other team. But when they got there, he gets a response back from one of his subordinates, indicating they were in a firefight with the mobsters. Hughes's group arrives at the site and finds some of their comrades injured, but no casualties. Ofelia, who was part of the firefight, reported to her superior of a man who she believed to be Vetar, fleeing the scene through the rooftop and they lost sight of him.
Vetar managed to get away from the ambush and was about to contact his boss about what went on. However, he comes across a dark tall figure, shrouded in black standing in his way. Before he could conjure his magic, his right arm gets cut off by his assailant. Out of desperation, he lets himself fall to the streets, and luckily lands on a pile of garbage, cushioning his fall. But the figure follows him down with no trouble and proceeds to cut his legs off. Then, as it was about to lay him to rest, Taro ambushes it from behind – he was close by and took action to save the poor bald man. Not long after, Hughes comes rushing to the commotion, just in time to see the black figure's back. He conjures his magic and attacks it from behind with his wind blade. But much to his surprise, despite it being faceless, the being caught his sword easily. The sensation of having his weapon caught made him remember his short fight with Argon, and out of instinct, he leaps back with the help of the wind, dodging what would have been a fatal strike through his abdomen by the attacker's free arm. Taro steps in to fight it, but the figure leaps to the sky and leaves. Hughes thanks Taro for his assistance and sudden appearance, but quickly went over to the dying mobster. He tries to save the man's life, but he soon passes away from blood loss.
The next day, Erb, Sylvia, Linda, and Aurora pay a visit to Sai at the hospital after Lyla invited them to come. Aurora went along to check on his progress since she was healing him a little at a time. They meet the bedridden boy who informs them he will be discharged by tomorrow, giving them some relief. But he asked Erb if anything bad had happened to him. Erb lies to not worry him and then goes off to get some soda. Sadly, all the other girls besides Aurora also wanted a drink, so they tasked him to bring them their beverages. Aurora tags along with him and after finding a vending machine they return back. But on their way, they bump into Lokee, who was cheerfully wheeling around a little girl, wearing a face mask with a clear visor. Their sudden meeting left both parties in shock, but the little girl gasps in pure delight over Aurora, mistaking her for a superhero heroine named, Masked Lapis.
Episode 46 – Serial Killer
Elsewhere, at the Dandorollo headquarter, Barrex called for an emergency meeting with all of the other caporegimes, including the boss. Marbel, Dutch, and 5 other Caporegimes - an old human man named Dubal, a black muscular man named Verdanz, a middle-aged French woman with long black hair named Cherie, a blonde elf woman named Lebrona, and a fat dwarf man with a big mustache named Jerald - are seen sitting in the main room, waiting for Barrex's report of the recent incident. He learned most of his businesses in one part of the city were raided by the HOD, and some of their products have been confiscated. However, one of their sites was attacked by something else – he only knew after his inside man in the police department informed him. He believes it was the work of the serial killer who suddenly appeared. Verdanz is the first to scold him for his lack of security and to make sure it doesn't happen again he demands he place some of his men at the stores for extra muscle. But Barrex saw past his scheme – using his men to take control of his businesses – and already assured everyone he had hired a group of mercenaries to bolster his security – out of his own pocket – alongside the gangs he had control over. Marbel, sensing the recent events were connected with the kids, chose to let Barrex do as he pleased, but if he were to make another blunder again or put the family at risk, she would demand compensation from him. Suddenly, Dubal questions what mercenary group he contacted, and the man discloses their name to be the Black Orcas – a group who are said to be capable of handling magic users. Marbel comments on his choice being excessive and openly asked if he had other intentions of using them, to which he answers by swearing they are only protecting the family's interest.
After the meeting was over, Barrex speaks to one of his bodyguards who informs him of Howe's recent intel, regarding the red boy having confronted them at their hideouts not too long before the raid happened. Having recalled ordering Lokee to silence the red boy and his friend, he instead has his men find out everything about the red boy.
At the hospital, Linda and Sylvia meet with Erb and Aurora and while the girls play with Dina – Lokee's little sister – the young men have their talks. They were hesitant to speak to one another, but Erb hears Lokee thanking him for having pulled his kick before. He returns the kindness by thanking him for allowing them to leave his hideout, though he asked if he reconsidered cutting ties with Barrex. He tells him he can't since the mafia is the one keeping his sister alive. Dina, suffering from AIDS after a tainted blood transfusion, has survived thanks to the hospital's advanced equipment and medicine, which cost a fortune. In order to pay the bills, he and a group of his friends who were in a similar situation formed the Dollar Horns and spent a few months stealing other people's cash – they only target the rich and don't hurt people unless necessary. But their plans fell through due to the increase in police activities, so in order to protect themselves and get my money to help pay the hospital bills, they joined Barrex. He gave his financial support to them in exchange for using his gangs to expand his business, and as time went by, they've grown to an uncomfortable size, and done some things he isn't happy about – one of them being the selling of drugs and acting like hitmen. If he cut ties with them, then he'll not only be unable to pay the hospital bills, but Barrex could retaliate against his gang out of spite with either another rival gang or his men. He confesses wanting Erb to join his gang and bring along his girls since he's their leader. But Erb tells him he is neither interested in joining nor their leader and professed it was something Aurora said as a lie. But then he remembers Aurora's honesty, making him wonder if she was telling the truth. Then, on another note, Erb wondered if he knew of the other gangs who worked under Barrex – where their hideouts are so they can take them out instead. But he didn't have the answer to that, since the other gangs despise the Dollar Horns for being the mobster's top lap dogs. He also adds if they plan to beat the other gangs, it would be a pointless endeavor since there are so many others who are waiting to work under Barrex. Lokee soon leaves and takes his sister back to her room, whereas Erb informs the girls of what he learned.
As the day draws near, they all chose to go home, but Erb lags behind to chat with Aurora, regarding what she said about him being the leader – whether or not she was lying. She simply admits he had leader material. She shares that most people she had seen who take the role of a leader, are charismatic, knowledgeable, and capable of making the toughest decision. She does not see him having any of these traits, yet she thinks he has the making of a true leader due to his natural ability to bring people together; their little group first started with just the 2 of them, and as time passed, they are joined by others - friends, families, and strangers – who simply wish to befriend him because of their outstanding circumstances. But Erb interprets the chain of coincidences they experienced to also be due to her existence. She agreed but further adds she never would have met any of them if he hadn't dived into the sea for her, giving her a helping hand. Upon hearing her words of encouragement, Erb earns an idea of how to deal with Barrex.
Episode 47 – Masked Lapis
Monday morning came, and at the dojo, Erb continues to improve his aura output, now capable of extending his aura to cover his whole arm and most of his leg. Aber notes he is nearly halfway in obtaining a full body aura cover, and since he was advancing faster than expected, he chose to teach his grandson how to properly conduct himself in a fight – how to move correctly. Aber has Linda and Taro fight against Aurora and has Erb focus his aura to enhance his perception to view the fight. The 3 fighters went slow enough for him to barely see, but gradually, both Linda and Taro sped up out of frustration against the blue girl. He was able to observe Aurora taking little action to dodge and hears his grandfather explaining how she can avoid taking damage while expending little to no stamina with simple steps. He then tells Aurora to begin countering them, and she does so with ease. They then stop, and Aber tells Taro to spar against Erb once again, and he must evade his hits as best he can for several minutes.
At the end of their spar, Erb was bruised from getting hit, and with his grandfather's permission, Aurora heals him. Taro apologized for being so rough and blamed his interactions from the other night being what made him so worked up. The 3 teenagers were shocked to learn of his encounter with the serial killer but were thankful he was safe, along with Hughes. As for the fate of Vetar, although Erb didn't like him, he felt pity for the way he died. Aurora hopes Hughes's men will capture the murderer, but Taro professed the mysterious figure was strong and fast, and he couldn't tell what it looked like – only that it was a big black humanoid. Linda suggested they could go search for the killer themselves with their sensory skills, but Aurora wanted to complete their original task first, before going into a new one.
Last night, Erb conjured the idea of having Lokee join their side of his own free will by having Aurora cure his sister's illness, so he wouldn't be indebted to the mafia. Aurora informed them she is familiar with the sickness and her people have developed means of curing it with a spell called Restoration; the caster can purify their target of any ailment and will accelerate the birth of new healthy cells while rewriting their genetic code to fight off infected cells. However, for Aurora to do that, she would need to be in close contact. Still, Erb already found a solution, which was to disguise her as the girl's favorite heroine, Masked Lapis. All they needed to do was to figure out a time, find a costume, and have Aurora act as the heroine. Then, when Lokee finds out why his sister is suddenly cured, believing she will spill the beans, Erb predicts he will realize it was them, and out of a sense of gratitude, he would become their ally and break away from Barrex's operation. His intention wasn't to have Lokee indebted to them, but with his help, they'll be able to track down the other gangs and weaken Barrex's position. The girls thought his idea was sound, albeit a little risky, and chose to go with it, just for the sake of the little girl. Luckily for them, Sylvia already had the costume made due to her hobby, but never actually wore it.
Present time, Erb and Linda then went to school, and spent the rest of the day as normal, until after school hours ended. They are joined by Sylvia, and Samantha, who were fully apprised of their plans, and meet Aurora with Éclair across the bridge. They went to Sylvia's home by bus and after entering her bedroom, she reveals to them her collection of costumes she made. Sylvia brings up the outfit that was a direct replica of Masked Lapis and hands it over to Aurora. Aurora adjusted the size quickly with her magic, and since the character had long hair, she easily extended her own to the proper length. Then, Sylvia goes over all of the key points that make Masked Lapis – her character, personality, catchphrases, etc. But Aurora simply uses Perception to obtain the information, while Éclair works on hacking into the hospital's computer systems, looking over the staff schedules and layout of the building. With their preparations done, they all chose midnight tonight to cure Dina, when the number of staff is the lowest. Except for Aurora, everyone will be staying the night at Sylvia's place and monitoring the blue girl's progress through tiny cameras which Éclair will install into the face mask. Samantha asked her brother how he would explain coming late home to their mother, and he already handled it – Kana was told he, his sister, and the girls would be sleeping over at Sylvia's place tonight to study, and he brought Aurora with them so she wouldn't feel alone. Although Kana wasn't entirely convinced her son was invited to a slumber party comprised of girls, after getting a phone call from Sylvia explaining he would be sleeping in another room, she let him go.
Episode 48 – Making a Wish
At decommissioned harbor further east of the city, Barrex is awaiting the mercenaries he hired to arrive. He is soon met by a small submarine emerging from under the surface, and out from it are several Black Orcas members. A large black muscular man by the name of Devon shakes hands with Barrex. The mobster quickly goes over their mission; they are to protect the shipment that will be arriving tomorrow – unbeknownst to the other mafia family – and deliver it to their true employer - the people who Barrex was smuggling for. Devon then asked if he knew what the shipment was; all he can provide is that it will be a single large container hidden underneath a pile of drugs and guns, which will be under a layer of harmless food crates – decoys on top of decoys. Though, the guns will be used by his men when they take over the Dandorollo family and instill him as the new boss. They are to take the container into the city by truck and hand it off to one of their employer's contacts. The mercenaries believe it to be a quick and easy task, and after hearing their confidence, Barrex relays his request, promising to pay extra on top of what their employer had given them. The mercenary leader was interested and asked what he wanted. The caporegime wanted them to take out 2 people; the first being the serial killer that has been tampering with his businesses, and the second is a high schooler who was also been snooping around where he shouldn't be; Erb Kinomoto.
At the hospital, as midnight clocked in, Erb and the others watch Aurora sneak inside through the front entrance with her invisibility spell on. After navigating through the building thanks to Éclair giving her directions via an earpiece, she arrives at Dina's room, isolated and underground. From there, she can see the poor girl hooked into machines. Éclair lets her in, bypassing the security alarm and medical alerts, and without delay, Aurora uses Restoration. In minutes, she declares she was cured, and not too long after, she intentionally wakes Dina. She opens her eyes to see Masked Lapis standing over her, and thinking this was a dream, she excitingly gasps. Aurora notions her to remain quiet, and places a spell that made the room soundproof – so no one could hear them – and they get to talking. When she asked Dina to talk about herself and her brother, the little girl gleefully discloses everything, mentioning he is the strongest and kindest person she knows. When asked about his gang, she did know her brother is the leader and created it to help the other kids who were like them – poor and vulnerable. Then, out of the spur of the moment, Aurora offers her a chance to fly over the city, and she accepts. Erb and the others heard her request and although this wasn't part of the plan, Sylvia mentions Masked Lapis had done something similar, where she took a child for a joyride. Aurora brought her out of the room and reactivates the invisibility to get them outside, where they begin their flight over the city.
The trip only lasted a few minutes, and Aurora chose to land down on a random roof but had lost radio contact with the others since she was too far. She chose to talk with Dina a little more until the girl begins to get drowsy. The little girl gives one last question, regarding if she wasn't imagining this since she felt healthy and not sick. Aurora tells her she had cured her illness because she didn't want her brother to rely on the bad men who were using him, and Dina begins to cry. But she was crying because she felt bad for being the only one to get help, while the other kids in the other rooms were also suffering. She wished they could also be cured and then fell asleep on her lap.
Aurora flies back to the hospital and took her back to her room. But from there, back within radio range with the others, she tells them of wanting to cure everyone else in the hospital who was also stricken with a similar ailment. Erb quickly voices his objection due to it being risky, but Éclair chimes in that it was possible for her to go door to door and cure everyone so long as she follows her directions. And so, Aurora, keeping her invisibility on, goes ahead and cures everyone without waking them up. As she was doing that, back at the mansion, Erb earns a phone call from Hughes. He answers and hears he needed to meet with Aurora on an important matter.
The next morning, Lokee, living in an apartment in the western district, wakes up to a phone call from the hospital and was told something had happened to his sister. He runs out of bed and upon arrival, he encounters a large crowd who crying in both confusion and joy. After he gets to his sister's room, he finds Dina completely fine without her machines assisting her. At first, he was hysterical over the absence of her face mask and asks her to put it on, but Dina tells him she is fine. A female dog-human doctor soon walks in, and states his sister along with some other patients have undergone a miracle; they were cured. They didn't understand how it happened and were hoping their blood tests will enlighten them. The doctor then leaves after getting a sample from Dina, leaving the 2 siblings by themselves. Lokee rhetorically asked his sister how she was cured, thinking this was the work of God. But Dina whispers to him it was Masked Lapis who cured her and granted her wish. At first, he thought she was joking, but then his mind goes back to how she mistook the blue girl from before as her heroine, and pictures Erb's group - with their strange abilities - could be behind all of this.
Episode 49 – Takedown
At MN High, Erb was going about the rest of the day in worry over Aurora when she left with Hughes. He didn't know why he wanted to speak with her, and can only assume somehow, he suspected they got themselves involved even deeper with the mafia. News of the sudden miracle taking place in the hospital quickly spread, and although they covered their involvement, he can't help but think there may be a chance the HOD would figure out it was them.
Elsewhere, Aurora was with Hughes and Darwin at HOD Headquarters, discussing the current headline mentioning the miraculous recovery of severely ill patients in the city in which she resides. She disclosed the truth to them, and after telling of their past interactions with the mafia, Hughes could only blame himself for leaving them to their own devices, whereas Darwin was furious over the fact that they took it into their own hands, potentially ruining years of work in taking down the Dandorollo. Hughes then shifts their talks to the main reason why they brought her in – they needed her help in dealing with the serial killer who they believe is something more than a human. The individual has been labeled as Faceless by the news but Hughes, brief sighting of the black figure made him think the name was adequate. He believes Faceless to be a being beyond what the HOD can handle, and knows Aurora's sensory and fighting abilities will help them take it down. In return for her assistance, Aurora requested they help her friends in dealing with Barrex; as for the mafia, they promise not to retaliate so long as they focus on the gangs he has in control. But Darwin wants her help in taking them down as well. Hughes thinks differently, believing their matter with the mafia should be handled by themselves, and not involve her in it; the matter of the serial killer is one thing due to its supernatural elements. Darwin didn't give up and planned to have their boss decide later.
As school ended, Erb joins with the others to head home. But they are confronted by Lokee, who is alone and wants to talk to them privately. He found where they were after hearing Howe mention they wore MN High uniforms. At an empty bus stop, the greenhorn asks bluntly if they had healed his sister, how did they do it, and why. Erb answers his questions, and after telling him of his intentions – in making sure Barrex gets what's coming to him for having messed with them – Lokee finally agrees to side with them and believes most of his friends will feel the same when he announces their separation with Barrex. With them working together, they can take out the other gangs. But further away, in a white truck, one of the Black Orcas mercenaries, a shrewd man with a black mohawk, spots them and informs his boss of his findings.
They soon enter recess and Aurora and Hughes had their conversation elsewhere. He expressed his disappointment in them for not including him in their plans, but also commend their bravery to act. Aurora was simply happy to know the others won't get punished. But the agent then went into detail about his brief encounter with the serial killer, and couldn't shake the feeling of how it reminded him of Argon. He goes on to ask if another kaoticon somehow survived, and if the one he saw was someone she encountered. But she did not sense one and is not familiar with it. Still, she does admit their ability of hibernation allowed them to hide from even her detection skills, but the fact that he and Taro managed to fend off the attacker made her think it was fairly weak compared to a level 1.
At the Dollar Horn hideout, Lokee is greeted by Celine and Howe, and he quickly orders them to contact the rest of their group; to have them all gather at the hideout. After a few hours passed and the majority of the gang was present, he announces their defection from Barrex and assures them they will no longer be doing any more of their dirty work. At first, many of them voiced their concerns and a few of them were against it, mainly because they would lose a lot of the money they earned. Lokee then tells them to leave the gang if they want to be used as drug smugglers and made murderers, declaring the Dollar Horns are their own bosses; a group originally made to support one another in a society that takes advantage of them. Their original aim was to steal from the rich and give back to the poor, help one another, and live their lives to the fullest. Upon being reminded of the group's old goals, they all then accepted the news. However, their gathering is interrupted by an attack from a combined force of a few gangs, invading their hideout, causing a huge battle to commence.
Episode 50 – Fighting the Mob
Outside, Barrex watches the fight erupt from the safety of his car. He was the one who sent the other gangs to attack the Dollar Horns. He then phones one of Devon's men, Vent – the mohawk man – to check on his progress on killing Erb and his family, but was unable to connect. Still, his eyes are trained on Lokee running from the scene with a group of others via a secret passage, and he contacts the Black Orcas to intercept him.
Lokee, after ordering everyone to escape, runs with Howe, and Celine through an alley hoping to get away, but are then stopped by a group of armed strangers. The 2 boys keep them busy while Celine runs away. But the 2 get captured – Howe being the first to go down and taken as a hostage, leaving Lokee no choice but to give up.
Lokee is then taken to the abandoned harbor and gets tortured by the Black Orcas on orders from Barrex for betraying him. But the young man endures the pain, not giving them the satisfaction. Barrex watches in annoyance over his lack of weakness and has Devon check up on his subordinates who were sent to find Lokee's sister at the hospital. The black man had already done that and just got word of the girl being absent but was taken by a cat girl. The caporegime recalls having seen Dutch's daughter among the group that fled, and assumes she was the one who took the kid. He plans to contact one of Dutch's subordinates, which he had planted, to let him know if they spot her.
Meanwhile, Howe, once taken hostage, was freed as thanks for giving Barrex the intel on Lokee. After being a spy for him for so long, he finally accepts the orc as part of his organization. But the orc boy secretly had second thoughts and regrets over what he did. When he was left alone, he contacts Celine and tells her to go find Lokee's sister, believing the mobsters will go after her to break their leader. But Celine had already done so, having thought of the same thing. Now they are on the run, but with nowhere to go. The orc boy confessed his wrongdoings to her and although she was furious, she asked if he knew anywhere they can hide. She can't go to her father for fear of Barrex's people finding out, and she couldn't go home either for the same reason. Howe does suggest she can contact Erb's group, thinking their freakish powers could keep them safe. As for finding them, he points out the Argones Estate, find the mayor's daughter, and get her to contact them.
At Sylvia's home, she and Éclair were spending the night together watching their favorite show. But Sylvia earns a phone call from Maxwell, who was at the front of the house, notifying her of 2 guests have come – Celina and Dina. Both girls rush down to them and hear the cat girl begging them to save Lokee.
At the Kinomoto residence, Erb, Linda, Samantha, and Umi get together in the boy's room, wondering what to do with the group of men that tried to storm their house. Earlier, Vent and his men drove up to their home intending to kill everyone inside. They reached the doorstep and were about to walk in until they were all silently shocked unconscious. Umi's barrier that surrounded the house detected them, and when they were outside, he stunned them cold with a quick spell. The black seal then safely puts the slumbering men in a separate dimension and ensures they can't escape. With the attack thwarted, Erb could only imagine Barrex was behind it and will send more. Umi proclaims he can protect the house if needed, though if they target them when they're out and about, including his mother who has no idea of the situation, they would run the risk of another ambush. Linda, angry and ready to fight, wanted to interrogate their captives and make them confess where their boss is, but Samantha stops her, knowing she would probably kill them. Out of the blue, Erb earns a phone call from Sylvia and learns of Celine and Dina have come to her place and Lokee was being kept at an abandoned harbor by Barrex. Knowing it was their fault, Erb and Linda rush out of the house to save him. Erb requests Sylvia to contact Éclair if she can trace Howe's phone number to give a precise location, which she already had done – she was simply waiting for Éclair to get back to her. He also asked Sylvia to contact Aurora and Hughes. Linda calls the dojo's phone number – recently established by Aber – to get in contact with Taro. Taro picks it up and after listening to her request, he immediately joined in, planning meeting them there. The 2 rode off on the scooter and Samantha was left with the task of protecting the house.
Sylvia had finished talking to the others and was about to check on Éclair's progress, until Maxwell stops her, demanding she explains what was happening. Much to her dismay, she divulged everything that had happened after her attempted kidnapping. Although Maxwell was mad at her for not informing him, he still asked if there was anything he can do to help. She knows they are the closest to where Lokee is, and reluctantly asked if he was willing to go there and provide support for her friends. Without hesitation, he accepts and fetches his combat gear.
Episode 51 – All Out Brawl
Erb and Linda drive to the abandoned pier thanks to Éclair finding Howe's GPS signal, and Taro runs behind them, easily keeping up. They soon stop when they are abruptly met by Maxwell, who had been waiting for them. The butler pawns off earpieces, and they then hear their tech wizard coming from it. She quickly briefs them of the site's geography – a fairly large dock with a few warehouses. She also detects a large cluster of phone signals emitting from the location – numbering more than 400. Linda suggests she and Taro act as a distraction while Erb and Maxwell try to sneak in through the back and rescue Lokee and Howe. Éclair discloses some possible routes for the second team to take, one of them through a rocky terrain on the coast, which Erb is confident he can get through thanks to his morning runs. She also informs them of Barrex's phone signal at the same site, meaning they have a chance to stop him once and for all. She will also try to hack into their local network and will appraise them for any further details.
At the harbor, Barrex's men keep watch of the front entrance until they are ambushed by Taro and Linda, ruthlessly beginning their attack. As most of the mobsters and gangsters go to the front, Erb and Maxwell carefully traverse through the back. It only takes them a few minutes and when they enter the pier, it was empty except for a single cargo ship. They were about to sneak in, but a large muscular dark-skinned man, wearing a strange dark blue combat suit instantly drops down in their path, dividing them. Maxwell draws his bow and arrow, but is confronted by a sniper – he dodges an incoming bullet and takes cover. Maxwell contends with the sniper and immediately finds himself at a disadvantage due to his foe's faster fire rate and powerful gun. Erb is left alone to fight the new foe.
In front of him is Devon, who had detected their approach thanks to the proximity sensors they placed around the harbor. He had his other people handle the 2 in front, while he and their sniper – a small woman - meet the other intruders.
Erb, having no choice but to fight, engages, but quickly discovers his opponent was far stronger than any thug thus far, rivaling Linda and Taro in terms of speed, and strength. Upon a closer look at his attire, he noticed it was emitting energy and spotted strange symbols on them. Devon can see his suit caught his attention and confessed it is infused with magic runes, enhancing his physicality and resistance against magic. The suit also has a one-time built-in injector full of EV12, just enough to further increase his power while keeping his mind sane. But despite all of his gimmicks, Erb manages to keep up with his movements, and thanks to his spars with the others, he pulls one over Devon and lands an aura-infused punch. The mercenary guarded but felt the force of his blow which surprised him – making him discover he was a power user.
At the front, Linda had subdued a majority of the thugs despite them having firearms – though she was too quick for them to hit her. However, she is then faced with 2 of the Black Orcas - a man, and a woman - wielding flaming swords. Taro also faces one of them, a large towering man, armed with 2 shields. They all wore the same armor as their leader, Devon, and both Linda and Taro quickly discover them to be worthy adversaries.
Episode 52 – The Black Orcas
Inside the warehouse, Howe takes advantage of the lack of personnel and frees Lokee. Together, the 2 tried to exit through the back, but are welcome by Erb crashing through the door - sent flying by Devon. Erb, suddenly seeing the 2 he wanted to rescue, quickly tells them to run while he goes back out to fight. But the man proves too experienced in hand-to-hand combat – already adapting to the red boy's evasion skill - eventually grappling Erb to the ground and was about to break his arm. Lokee kicks him away and joins the red boy in fighting the mercenary.
Maxwell continues to contend with his foe and discovers them to be a woman and using a camouflage suit to hide their presence. He quickly devises a plan to distract the shooter by firing a magic arrow in her direction, exploding into a bright light. The arrow did no damage, but it blinded the woman and caused her suit to overload, revealing herself. Maxwell, adept in using light magic, conjures 2 daggers made of light and rushes at the enemy. Before she could retaliate, he cuts her weapon and swiftly puts her to sleep with a submission move.
Linda fights the 2 sword wielders who are in fact brother and sister and has been successfully evading their swings. Much to their annoyance, they can tell she wasn't taking them seriously. Eventually, they trap her in between shipping containers and were about to pincer her until she jumped over them. They gave chase, but when they climbed up, Linda had hip thrust a container, ramming them with it.
Taro's opponent proves to be far more difficult than he realized due to his high defense – hiding behind his shields while using them as clubs. When his opponent's arrogance seeps out as he taunts him to attack, Taro instead gathers his aura into his fist and punches out his signature technique, the Vulcan Shot – a long-range ki attack resembling a fireball. His attack was strong enough to melt the man's shield and send him rocketing to another warehouse. With his opponent defeated, he is soon joined by Linda who saw what he did and was amazed to see him able to perform a long-range strike. But they soon fight the rest of the mobsters and thugs, leaving them little time to rest.
Erb and Lokee were overwhelming Devon and they nearly beat him, until a gunshot from Barrex catch their attention. Barrex had shot Howe in the leg and was prepared to kill him if the 2 stopped resisting. With no choice, they ceased, but Barrex then shoots Lokee in the leg, while Devon uppercuts Erb in the midsection. Strangely though, when Erb was sent flying, he felt his body suddenly surge with power, and wondered why.
Episode 53 – True Ki Attack
Devon, wanting to torture the red kid for giving him such a hard time, continues to punch him while the mobster looks after the others. But as the mercenary hits him, he started to notice the boy was somehow taking his hits, not reacting to the pain. Erb performs the breathing exercise his grandfather taught him to achieve the right state of mind and does so flawlessly as his body numbs out the pain. He then starts dodging his blows with minimal effort, leading the mobster to threaten him again to stop resisting. But Maxwell intervenes from afar with an arrow striking his hand. The arrow was coated with a paralyzing agent, and so the mobster slowly loses control over his body and fall to the ground, unable to move. Devon, sensing he was at a disadvantage, takes out his knife to quickly kill Erb. But Erb swiftly catches him by his wrist and squeezes it tightly to make him drop the knife while finally outpouring a full body aura cover. Now, fully enhanced, he punches Devon and sends him rocketing into the pier, and falls in the ocean.
With the battle won, Erb falls on his rear end but remains awake. Maxwell soon joins them and hands over some minor potions of healing he had brought– a secret old family remedy he made that can heal minor injuries. However, Devon was still active, albeit hurt, and radios the last remaining member of their group to surface while he dives back into their main submarine.
At Sylvia's mansion, Sylvia, Éclair, Celine and Dina were watching what had happened through a drone. Éclair designed the drone to be able to operate at extremely long range, making the use of nearby networks to connect back with her. Equipped with a camera, they can see Linda and Taro having almost finished up with the cannon fodders, and then they moved over to Erb and the others. Although the moment was intense, they were relieved they somehow won. But the drone camera spotted something in the water further away moving closer, and Éclair checks her laptop for any signals being emitted.
As Maxwell was treating them, his enhanced hearing allowed him to detect the sound of the waves growing unnaturally louder. Out of nowhere, through everyone's earpiece, they hear Éclair informing them of a mobile suit was nearby, and simultaneously, a large black mech emerged from the water.
An MSJ-0611-A Tierren model - made in Russia and modified for underwater operations - steps onto land and surveys the area. Luckily, the elf man was able to instruct Erb, Lokee, and Howe to hide, though the 2 gangsters were stuck behind a small concrete barricade, still unable to move properly. Maxwell performs another one of his magic spells, firing an arrow of light to then burst like a flashbang. The mech gets blinded by it, giving enough time for Lokee and Howe to make their run. But Erb, seeing it wide open, rushes at it instead with no fear, causing the butler to shout at him to come back. The Tierren regains its senses back and sees Erb coming. It then fires its arm cannon at him but misses. Erb's full body cover allowed him to enhance his perception while maintaining his physical enhancement, and with it, he can dodge the bullets far more easily than he had ever imagined. He also dodges a direct hammer strike by the robot, leaps onto its arm, and ran to its head, pouring all of his aura into his last punch. The force he generated causes the mech to be off-balanced, but it automatically corrected itself in time and slams Erb with its arm cannon. The red boy survived thanks to his aura, but the impact made him use it all up. Luckily, Linda catches him in the air and Taro points his Vulcan Shot at the robot's arm cannon, destroying it. Linda saw Erb perform a full body cover and expresses her joy over his achievement. As his reward, she plans to show him how a proper ki attack works while testing out a move she had made in preparation against an armored opponent like a kaoticon.
Linda charges up a large amount of aura and then channels most of it into her feet. She rushes at the Tierren and leaps high over it. With one leg raised over her head, she drops down on top of the mech and performs her new signature move, Lion's Talon – a dropkick that fires out the energy stored in her leg. The force of her attack obliterated the upper torso of the Tierren, disabling it for good.
Episode 54 – Nightmare's Return
Taro went ahead and rips open the mobile suit cockpit, finding a terrified small man inside – alive and spared. Erb and the others were in shock and awe as Linda sends a cheerful smile their way, extremely satisfied by the success of her new attack. She rushes back and informs them of all the enemy combatants in the front were taken care of and tied up. Taro regroups with them with the mobile suit's pilot in his grasp, and Maxwell mentions his opponent is securely tied up. However, they then hear Éclair's voice in their earpiece, notifying them of another mobile suit signal approaching from the sea.
Devon, having reached his submarine, boards another Tierren and returns to the fight, intent on finishing what he started. Erb and all the other powered fighters prepare to fight, but as the mobile suit was about to reach landfall, it stops as large tendrils made of water keep it pinned down. Maxwell soon hears the sound of heels walking towards them from behind, and informs the rest. They all see Marbel walking out of the warehouse with Dutch and many other mobsters. Marbel, with her affinity for water magic, was the one who trapped the mobile suit and goes on to crush it, leaving the cockpit intact.
The gathered mercenaries and Barrex were put before Marbel, while the rest of the other injured thugs were being detained by her men. Erb and the others are with them but kept guarded by Dutch's people. Marbel had discovered the whereabouts of the hidden harbor thanks to having planted a tracking spell on Barrex from their meeting; after noticing he had gone to a location outside of the city twice, she assumed it was something important. She interrogates Barrex as to why he was operating here and what the cargo ship had. He tried to explain it was full of weapons and drugs for the family to use, but she knew he was lying; she had her men check his financial records and learned of a suspicious amount of money having transferred to one of his off-shore accounts and he had never sent any money out either, meaning he couldn't have paid the Black Orcas. Someone else did, and she believes they are the ones who told him to smuggle their shipments. Suddenly, Marbel shifts her attention to Devon and uses her magic to conjure a string made of water, piercing his mouth and taking out a tooth. The others watch frightfully as the man writhes in pain, but after the woman throws the tooth away into the water, they were startled by the explosion that erupted from it – a planted suicide bomb. She was well acquainted with how mercenaries operate and had a feeling they would rather kill themselves than give them information that can lead back to their employer. But before she can ask any further questions, Erb asked why she was keeping him and his friends captive. She saw him and the others as a threat she needed to deal with, and although they had no intention of fighting the Dandorollo, she cannot trust their words due to their strength.
However, the sound of screaming and gunfire caught their attention. Marbel has half of the men with her guard their prisoners while she leads the rest to the front. Linda can sense a disgusting presence closing in on them and had a sinking familiarity with it, thus she runs off to check, leaving the others to go after her.
They come to the front entrance to see all of the mobsters and the people that were tied up torn to shreds, and one of the mobsters gets their heart torn out by a black faceless man. Taro identifies him to be the serial killer, and Marbel had heard of killer and knew his name as Faceless. She calls him out by name, and threatens him with the full might of her family, declaring they were going to kill him. The killer did not respond to her, but its face cracks open, revealing a devilish smile, and speaks out of how disappointed he was to learn they had named him with something so mundane. But his voice quickly registers to both Erb and Linda, and memories of the purple behemoth flood back. Coincidentally, the black being faces them sensing their confusion and anger, and finally reveals his true identity by reshaping his external appearance to what it used to be, and revealing himself as Argon.
Episode 55 - Enraged
Linda and the others were struck with fear as Argon exudes his willpower over them. But Erb fueled with rage and hate, screams out a war cry while outputting an even greater amount of aura than before. He rushes at the monster, grabs a rifle along the way, and hits him with it like a club. But his weapon breaks and unfazed Argon, so he continues by throwing a combination of punches and kicks without any hesitation. Argon, still unharmed, belittles Erb for being weak despite now having access to aura, and tosses him aside, crashing him into a crane.
The others soon spur into action and together they used their strongest techniques – Linda and Taro use their moves, Lion's Talon and Vulcan Shot, while Marbel fires a high-powered stream of water and Maxwell shoots a highly condensed arrow made of light. But despite their best efforts, Argon remains standing, undamaged, and counters back. He starts with Linda, swatting her aside with his tail, then punches Taro into the ground as payback for before, and with a small stone, he shoots it at Maxwell, breaking his bow and piercing him through his midsection. Marbel attempts to fight back by restraining him with her water tendrils, but Argon breaks free with a single punch. He doesn't hit her directly, but the shockwave he produced with it sent her rocketing into the side of a car. All of the other mobsters begin to open fire, but most of them were killed by his hands – torn limb from limb. Those that tried to escape were dealt with by him firing more stone marbles as bullets. Dutch helps his boss and was told by her to run. Nevertheless, he stayed, intent on saving her. Lokee and Howe get to Maxwell, who was still breathing, and tried to get him to safety. But Howe gets hit by Argon's bullets and dies on the spot, causing Lokee to wail in anger. Linda, wanting to stop the carnage, fires off a single ki blast to grab his attention. Argon took notice and commends her for wanting to fight him, unlike the last time they met. He then grabs her by the neck and was about to choke her to death. Erb, barely conscious and stuck on the crane, sees Linda and the others were about to die, and he couldn't do anything to save them. But his weakness only infuriated him further, and as his mind and body undergo pure unfiltered rage, he lashes out once more, producing a mix of red and gold aura. He launches at Argon, and punches him clean in the face, this time, dealing damage. Argon, shocked by the pain, lets Linda go by accident and focuses his attention on Erb. The 2 fight it out and the kaoticon measure the boy's strength to be more than 30 times what he had before and was still rising. But what caught his notice was his fighting style was different, resembling more like Aurora's.
Linda, watching the battle with open eyes, also spotted him moving the same way as Aurora, but then sees her own moves mixed in, which made her think back on a private conversation she had with Aber. When Erb and Taro were sparring, she had asked her master why he wouldn't teach his grandson martial arts again since he already did back in their childhood. Aber told her after she left them for America, he thought of giving Erb a new hobby and took him to attend a cultural convention. There, they watched a mangaka artist of world-renown make a piece from start to finish and noticed Erb was fond of it. But after a few days passed, Aber saw one of Erb's drawings and sees it to be a near match to the artists. Aber then says Erb has an extraordinary level of understanding and applying physical skills, and making them his own, thus if he had learned martial arts first, he would be able to learn it at an extremely fast pace, which was why he always switches Linda and Taro out as his sparring partners, to hamper his adjustment of their moves. He plans to teach him martial arts later after he masters the basics of aura control.
Now, Linda realized Erb had been watching both her and Aurora train and somehow understood their respective skills unconsciously. Argon was getting both annoyed and excited by the boy's sudden power-up and quickly tries to end it with a strong punch to the face. But Erb counters with one of his own, a full-powered condensed ki attack channeled into his fist, resembling more like Linda's Lion's Talon. He releases the energy and fires off a column of red and gold light, scorching parts of the harbor and engulfing Argon.
Episode 56 - Rematch
Sylvia, Celine, Dina, and Éclair observed the battle that was taking place and both Sylvia and Éclair pray for Erb's success in killing Argon once and for all; the moment they saw him come back made them think they were in a nightmare. Meanwhile, Sylvia had been frantically calling Hughes to let him know of the situation. But since the start of their rescue, she hadn't been able to connect. Yet, after one last try, she finally got through and quickly tells him of Argon. But when she did, Hughes relays back that Aurora had suddenly rocketed off just before she called.
Everyone who saw Erb fight was amazed by him, but their hopes were dashed as Argon comes out of the smoke, producing his signature purple aura, signifying he hadn't used it until now. With only a scorch mark on his chest, the monster takes back what he said to him, and stated the boy had grown a little stronger, but not enough to be a real threat. Erb, too exhausted and battered still watches the monster walk toward him. But as Argon approaches, he is stopped by the voice of an elderly man commenting on his frightening appearance. It came from behind him, so he turns around. He sees no one, but when he looks back at the boy, he spots an old red lizard man holding Erb up.
Aber's sudden presence made Argon leap back, becoming cautious over him as he tries to figure out how he got past his detection, and what is he – sensing neither aura nor mana permeating from his origin but something else. Aber greets himself to his pupil's attacker and in a friendly manner tells him to leave the others alone for the time being since he was so strong. Despite his polite banter, Argon can feel him exerting his willpower, intimidating him. Much to his dismay, he admitted to not wanting to contend with someone like him in his current state, and also didn't want to awaken Erb's fiendish form before. He was relieved to know of the power he displayed just now was nothing like it. And so, he takes the old man's advice and leaves it at that, expressing his true intention was to simply meet them again and celebrate his rebirth. But Aber stops him from going by clarifying he only wanted him to stop fighting the others and openly states his reason for coming here was to simply distract him.
Argon swiftly realizes he had been tricked and redirects his senses away from the old man and to the one being he needed to be cautious of. But before he can do that, he gets kicked in the face by Aurora – who rushed to the scene by air – sending him crashing into a warehouse. Suddenly, Erb and everyone else who is alive finds their injuries were gone, and are left perplexed and speechless by Argon's sudden launch and Aurora's explosive entrance.
Aurora was at the airport runway about to enter a plane with Hughes, planning to head back home. But she sensed Erb's battle power rise to a level she didn't think possible and feared something was wrong. So, she flew to his location with no regard for hiding her powers. But as she grew closer, she can feel Aber's presence and with him, Argon's aura, making her speed up. When she got close, she used Cure to heal everyone in Erb's vicinity and kicked the monster away.
Now, Argon bursts out of the debris, maniacally roaring her out in both annoyance and delight over their fateful reunion, and Aurora goes to fight him at full strength. The 2 were matched with one another and took their fight further east of the harbor. They destroyed the landscape and left behind earthquakes that can be felt in the city. Eventually, Aurora prepares her Kick of the Azure Dragon, hoping to finish him off for good. This time, Argon takes her attack head-on, fending it off with all his might. But she fires another Azure Dragon and completely overpowers him. Her attacks transform into a beam of light, traveling halfway across the planet's atmosphere and then breaching past it. But after the dust had settled, she observes Argon still standing, but his body was crumbling into dust and smoke. Argon confessed he didn't intend to fight her so soon and was ill-prepared for it. But he was glad to see his temporary body – made of an unknown substance – was durable enough for him to enjoy their little duel before it gave out. He had miscalculated how much of the power he released as well, contributing to his early retirement. If he hadn't used it to save himself from Erb's attack, he could have stayed hidden a little longer from her detection. He then bids his farewell, marking his return one day, and Aurora angrily lets out a roar, failing again to kill him.
Episode 57 – A common enemy
After a few days passed since Argon's reemergence, Hughes arrived at the training site and sees Erb, Aurora, Linda, Sylvia, Éclair, Samantha, Umi, Taro, Maxwell, Lokee, and Marbel already present. Hughes didn't know Lokee and Marbel, but after Erb tells him who they are, he was rather taken back. Marbel came with Dutch but she made him wait in the car on the road, whereas Lokee arrived by himself on his motorcycle. The mob boss's reason for coming was both her curiosity about what Argon was and wanting to get revenge for the men he had slaughtered. Lokee wanted the same; to avenge his friend, Howe. They all chose the training site as the meeting place since it was far from prying eyes and on neutral grounds. As for Aber, he was away yet again, though Erb had hoped he would be here to also be included. Hughes knew of Argon's return thanks to Sylvia's phone call last night but also learns from both her and Aurora's account that he took a new ethereal form – Sylvia had watched the blue girl fighting and interacting with the beast thanks to Omni-Sight. Although the kaoticon was gravely weakened compared to their last meeting, he proved to be just as dangerous as he was. But everyone who had never met the kaoticon wondered who he was, leading Hughes to first ask the original members for their permission in telling them their secret. They let him, and so, the agent discloses the events of the alternative timeline as well as the true origin behind Aurora and Argon; the only thing he left out was Erb's fiendish powers. Most of them couldn't believe their story, but the existence of Argon made it easier for them to swallow.
They then move over to how to deal with him and much to their dismay, they didn't have an answer – Aurora states she had no means of defeating him in his new form. Umi suggested they can seal him with his skills, though after saying so, wishes he was there to do it. They then wondered why Argon conducted his murders, revealed himself to them, and managed to hide his presence until now. Aurora deemed his actions were to simply test his new body. But then Erb asked her if he was capable of destroying the city in his current state, and Aurora confirms, even stating he could destroy the entire world with a full-powered ki blast at the planet's core. Erb then opens up with another question as to why he hasn't done it yet since he could kill them all outright for revenge. Marbel answers his question with her own, asking if they were aware of another power that exists on earth called Charyeok – Borrowed Power. They were in the dark about it, and not even Umi, Maxwell, and Hughes with their connections and knowledge were aware of it.
Marbel explains Charyeok to be that of individuals borrowing strength and/or abilities from a supernatural entity, whether it's another human, an animal, a demon, or a god, and it originated from the people of Earth – not from Erban. She had met a few who possess Charyeok in Asian countries and can manifest their powers through their imagination. From how Aurora described his ethereal body, she hypothesizes Argon could have somehow survived by forming a contract – whether mutually or by force – with a living person, thus he achieved to retain his existence, but is unable to use his full power due to the limitations of his host. The new theory gave the others a better understanding of how he lived, but now that he may be working with someone else only worsened their predicament – he could potentially appear anywhere at any moment and his collaborator could be anyone. Aurora was intrigued by the concept of Charyeok – being similar to how she and Deus interact – and wanted to know more. But Marbel had no further information to provide. She does know a man in South Korea who could have better insight but refuses to contact him – the last time she had seen the man was around 18 years ago when she was studying abroad at a high school, but they had a bad relationship. Still, she provides his name, which is Park Mubong – if they ever plan to go to South Korea, they can find him for themselves.
Their discussion concludes with Marbel promising to have her people keep an eye out for any suspicious activities in the underworld that could lead them to Argon, whereas Hughes will do the same since Faceless is still on the loose and he would personally lead the investigation.
Episode 58 – New Allies
Hughes and Marbel are the first to leave the training site, whereas the rest chose to stay there longer to reevaluate their next steps. Maxwell urgently advises Samantha and Sylvia to attend the new high school for their safety, believing Argon won't be able to touch them there. But Sylvia refuses, wanting to stay and do her part. Samantha was about to say the same, but Umi stops her with the fact that, unlike her friend, she can get stronger at school and return better. Maxwell unable to fight her, chose to submit but has her friends promise to protect her at all cost since he doesn't think he can against Argon. They all agreed, and at the moment, Lokee requested on his knees of wanting to learn how to use Aura as well to avenge Howe and protect his other friends. Erb professed it wasn't their decision to make but his grandfather's. Still, he gives Aber a call to ask. Aber didn't give his answer but told them to wait until he gets back to the dojo.
After a little while, Aber returns, takes a moment to examine Lokee, and happily allows him to train after determining his potential. The old lizard then asked why they were sad – noticing the mood around them was a little more lackluster than normal. At that point, Erb gives a shifting glance at the others, signaling to them his intention of revealing their secret to him, and when he sees them all nod, he goes ahead and takes his grandfather somewhere private. Aurora and Linda chose to go with him as support and after they enter the house, Erb tells him everything, including his strange power and dreams of a green hair lady. Aber listens attentively and believes him after what he had witnessed over the past few weeks – his rapid growth, interest in aura, and his strange unnatural outbursts of energy. Now knowing they may have a dangerous monster on the loose and he can't protect them at all times, he plans to speed up their training to better defend themselves.
Elsewhere, Marbel and Dutch drive back to the family headquarters until they received a phone call from one of their men, alerting them of the hideout they use to keep the black orcas and Barrex was invaded. They rush to the site to find their men outside, waiting to barge in. When they did, the guards and the prisoners were found dead, but they had their necks broken. Marbel had thought Argon was responsible but the way they died was far too humane compared to what she witnessed.
Hughes calls Ofelia and Victor on the status of their prisoner transport of Vent – the remaining Black orca member who was arrested. Umi had handed him off to the proper authority and gave back the other mobsters to Marbel. The 2 HOD agents inform their boss they were about to enter the police station and disconnect. They enter inside and are led to the cell containing the prisoner, only to find the man dead – having his neck broken. Everyone went on high alert of the sudden discovery and the entire place went into lockdown.
Sadly, the perpetrator – a single man disguised as a policeman - had already exited the precinct and gets in contact with his employer about the deed being done – killing the last Black Orca member. On the other line, Charles Richtofen, calling from a secret office inside of the Valor Station in orbit, relays that his payment will be transferred and hangs up. After Charles discovered the bleached remains of Argon, he had it safely transferred to another orbital station erected in South America – the Conquista - and had it shipped secretly on a cargo freighter using Barrex's connection, promising him a large sum and weapons for his coup. But after the debacle that occurred at the harbor by an unknown group – with the arrest of the mercenaries and Barrex himself - they had to eliminate all possible leaks that could tie to them. He only knew of their failure due to having a spy drone surveying the incident, recording everything from the invasion of the unknown attackers to the sudden appearance of a monster that had a striking resemblance to the one he found. But when the red boy fired his ki attack, the massive outburst of energy that came from it caused the drone's circuitry to overload and then explode. The sight of the unknown attackers caught his attention because he recognizes one of them to be Maxwell – the Butler of the Argones. He pondered what their connection was with the ragtag team, but the sight of the monster was also something he wished to know. Then there was also the other spy drone that was picked up, yet thankfully, their own managed to remain hidden. Annoyed by the numerous questions, he chose to give his mind a break by connecting a call with his secretary. In the underground bunker below the Pharmaware headquarters, his Secretary, Sophia, reports of the specimen they received was intact and the scientists are in the process of starting their gene-therapy trials using its cell. Charles disconnects with her and then takes a moment to open a video feed clearly showing Argon, becoming mesmerized by the possibilities they will have after unlocking the monster's secret.
Episode 59 – Aspirations
The next day, the others resume their training early in the morning and are joined by Lokee who was immediately put to muscle training. Erb, having unlocked his aura, performed a full body cover and succeeded. Aber then has him continue training to improve his aura output by sustaining it as long as he can, and then perform his daily physical exercises. This change left him exhausted and he is soon joined by Lokee who feels like he was dying. It was soon time for them to go to school, so Erb and Linda prepare to leave. However, they see their Oni friend wearing their school uniform and learn he is a 4th-year student – a senior - in MN High but hadn't attended since last year. His sister had told him to go back and since the Dollar Horns have dissolved no thanks to Barrex, he had nothing better to do other than his aura training and his studies.
After the 3 of them got to school, they then reconvene during lunch where Lokee meets Lyla and Sai for the first time, and Sylvia was with them. Erb warns him secretly of his 2 friends are unaware of their secret, and to not let them know he was part of the Dollar Horns. From there, the Oni boy explains the circumstances behind his long absence and that his sister's illness made him miss out on school for one year, and after talking to the school faculty, he will have to repeat his senior year. Lyla bombards him with questions about himself, where he reveals one of his hobbies was writing comics, which leads Linda to point out his similarities with Erb – the 2 young men did not like her comparing them out of their sense of rivalry. Outside of school though, he plans to find a job, but then Lyla offers him and the others a chance to work at a new store her family is opening up in a few days. Erb, thinking he may not have time, but wanting to get some extra cash in hand for the upcoming summer, tells her he'll think about it. But the thought of getting a job made Sai steer the conversation towards what their future aspirations were, admitting he plans to work as an engineer. Lyla shares her intentions of inheriting her family business, whereas Sylvia thought of being a doctor or a politician like her parents. Linda initially thought of being a martial arts competitor, though as a backup, she has the idea of becoming a police detective. Lokee wanted to do what he likes – which was drawing – and hopes to turn it into a career. It soon ends with Erb, unsure of what his plans were, and despite Linda noting he can be a writer, he was hesitant to agree.
Later on, after the last school bell rang, Erb drives home with Samantha and continues to ponder what he should aspire for, other than being a novelist. He extends his discussion to his sister, and when asked what she plans to do after graduating from her magic school, she wants to work at the HOD like Hughes. To his dismay, hearing her confidently answer only made him feel more lost in his pursuit – the only thing on his mind was how to get stronger in fighting, but outside of that, he had nothing except for his writing, which he hadn't done for a while.
Suddenly, as they drew closer to home, they meet their older brother O'Neill walking out of the house. They greet him and assumed he had gone back to the army a while ago after the last time they saw one another. But O'Neill disclosed he had come down with the flu and been bedridden at his friend's apartment. He plans to return to work tonight and told their mother of what happened – earning an earful for not telling his family of his condition. After saying his goodbyes to his siblings, Erb and Samantha went in, though, as O'Neil walks further away, out from his shadow, Argon – residing in their older brother without him knowing – pokes his head out, sneers in delight over their lack of awareness, and waits for the day he can take his revenge.
As night falls, Erb is joined by Aurora who was bored and wanted to chat with him. She asked if he met the green hair lady again, but he hasn't. He returns with his own about her connection with Deus, but she too couldn't. Still, with the discovery of Charyeok now in their minds, it made them both believe they can somehow find a way to get what they want – finding out what the green lady has in store for him, and for Aurora to regain her powers. There, he passes off his earlier inquiry to her, on what she plans to do after her people win their war against the kaoticons. She too couldn't give him a direct answer but gave possible outcomes – one of them being she would get married and make a family with someone, while at the same time governing her people. However, she expresses her dislike of being a ruler, and although she would like to have children of her own one day, she loves to go adventuring and explore uncharted regions of space – discovering new worlds and history. Erb quickly compares her dream to what the adventurers of old must have wanted, and if the occupation had continued to exist, he would have become one himself for the same reason. But Aurora questions why he couldn't be an adventurer now, seeing it as something anyone can do at any time. Her answer almost led him to obtain an epiphany, and it was so intriguing that he was about to hop to his feet in delight over his revelation. But he stops himself short, and instead, jokingly replies they still need to deal with the problems here, before even thinking about traveling to other places. Aurora, sensing it was somewhat of a lie, lets it go and accepts his answer – though, secretly, she wishes he had openly said it, desiring him and the others to join her if they ever get the chance to explore.
