Harry groaned out quite loudly. He blinked open his eyes and sat up and looked out of the side window. It was morning and perfect time to tour New York a bit.
Harry wasn't sure what he would end up taking up as his profession now. Sure, he had wanted to be an Auror, but it was a lie. It was never Harry's desire, it was his stupid conscience and sense of duty.
It wasn't bad, but he would choose what he wanted. Not what Dumbledore wanted him to. He got up instantly when a knock was heard. "Come in!"
The door opened and Abraham's head peeked out "Hey Harry, just wanted to let you know that breakfast is ready."
Harry gave him a thumbs up "Yeah, getting there in a minute."
He brought out his Elder Wand and swished it to make himself presentable. Then he walked briskly to the dining room.
It was big, but nothing too extravagant. Mary was nowhere to be seen. Upon seeing Harry's inquiring eyes, Abe said "Oh, she's gone to the News Reporting Office. I'll be gone after you've eaten for duty."
Harry nodded "Sure. Hey, can you tell me some places I can visit here?" Abe munched on his bread for a bit before answering, "Yeah, it's no problem. There's..."
"Seaweed Brain, it's getting late!" a female voice was shouting at him. The 'Seaweed Brain' in question was murmuring sleepily "Just one more minute, please..."
The girl rolled her gray eyes. Then she went close to the teenage boy's ear and whispered "Are you sure? Too bad, I'll eat all the cookies Sally made."
Percy sat up upright, his eyes showing panic "Where?" Annabeth couldn't hold in and burst out laughing. Percy noticed Annabeth and huffed "Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up all you want."
Annabeth then shoved him a bag "Here." Percy blinked and took the bag in his hands. It was not that big. Then he suddenly remembered. Today was his first day in the University.
"Oh Had—" He started cursing before Annabeth interrupted "No, I managed to get you up in time. Now hurry, before we actually get late."
Percy got up from his bed quickly and put on his shirt in hurry. He grabbed a toast lying above the dining table before rushing out with Annabeth.
And so, Percy reached the University with bread crumbs visible in his shirt.
The Master of Death sighed in exasperation. Britain or not, people still seemed to know him, albeit less. Every now and then he would notice people pointing at him and whispering. For the people not to associate with muggles at all in the past, they were mingling quite well. He just decided to ignore them all.
He walked ahead, marveling at the new structures the city had to offer. Quite a few times, he passed some Greek deity statues.
New York really felt different from Britain. While Privet Drive had a lot of space for private houses and bungalows, NY had high rise buildings, with a lot of families living inside.
The differences were quite overwhelming, and Harry smiled slightly. He could tour himself all he wanted and nobody would stop him.
After about half an hour of walking, he found himself in Central Park, Manhattan. There was greenery everywhere, and the air was fresh. If Harry hadn't heard it from Neville, this place had quite a bit of magic in the surroundings.
Neville's theory about nature had been accepted by a lot of Magizoologists and Herbologists. It had been really simple question, why were magical creatures often found in the deepest parts of a forest? It had been a simple answer, nature was truly a mysterious force. Oxygen was not the only thing they produced. They also released magical energy, and these could be harnessed and used.
Harry looked around him and took a deep breath. He checked his pocket and took out his miniaturized Firebolt. He twisted his hand, and out fellThe Elder Wand fell into his palm.
"Noli Animadverto."
He then enlarged his broom. The notice-me-not charm should definitely keep out people from noticing him flying with his broom.
He kicked the ground under his feet, and started gliding in the air. For the first time since war, he truly felt free. Free from Voldemort. Free from Prophecy. Free from War. Free from Dumbledore.
He started laughing and whooped as he performed the Wronski Feint. All while he was thinking whether he should try in the American Quidditich Team.
He could see the Empire State Building in the distance. Clouds had gathered on the top. Then he suddenly blinked his eyes.
He swore he had seen something above the clouds. Something golden and shining. However he dismissed it as a trick of light.
He glided down after an hour of flying and sighed. A low grumble came from his stomach. "Tempus." he muttered quietly. It displayed 3:30 pm right now. He couldn't believe he had spent a lot of his time flying and couldn't even feel it.
He got out of the park and spotted a cafe-cum-restaurant. He headed inside and walked to the counter.
He did want to try the delicacies of NY, so he ordered himself a cheese pizza with a Coca-Cola. It would suffice as his lunch.
He sat down on a chair, waiting for his order to come. He spotted a couple in the next table, laughing with each other. The guy looked about 17, as old as him, with jet-black hair. He also seemed to have sea-green eyes, which was lit up in happiness. Beside him was a girl around the same age as him.
She fulfilled every criteria of a stereotypical Californian girl, but the eyes. It was an astonishing cloudy gray, which seemed to analyze and assess something before thinking of ways to take it down.
"Yeah... Dam French Fries." The boy was whispering to her. The girl rolled her eyes before laughing "Now I really wish I had been there in Hoover Dam with you guys."
The teenager smirked at her again. Harry tuned out, mostly because he didn't want to invade their privacy.
The order had arrived, and as soon as he started eating, he could feel the gray eyes analyzing him.
Annabeth had noticed the man in the next table observing her and Percy. She observed him, he looked like he was their age. He was looking down the table, so she could not see his face. But from the angle she was, she could see that he wore glasses, and had thick black messy hair.
"What happened Wise Girl?" Percy murmured beside her. He had noticed her going quiet and had seen her observing the man on the next table. She shook her head "Nothing, just wondering..."
She then observed his body posture. He seemed relaxed, like free from some obviously burdening work. But his shoulders were taut, like they would be ready for battle, should it arrive.
And that was what intrigued her. There was no way that he was a Demigod. She would have recognized him from camp, but no. Percy nudged her again "Come on, tell me, what is it?" He was pouting up at her with his baby seal eyes
She sighed. Curse Poseidon's Sons for being too distracting and cute. She leaned unto him for a kiss. "It's nothing Seaweed Brain. I was wondering about that person there..."
Percy looked over where Annabeth was looking. He saw the black haired individual, eating his pizza. "Nothing seems wrong with him. Are you alright?"
"Yeah, but—" Annabeth sighed. "I already told you. It's just an instinctual feeling. Ever since I wielded the power of Sadie, I have been... Sensing people better."
"Well, it's a pretty cool power in my opinion. I mean, sometimes I can actually confirm if a person is a demigod or not." she continued.
Annabeth knew Percy was going to say something stupid "Weeell... That means we have got our Satyr number 2 here, the first one being Grover."
Annabeth rolled her eyes "You are an idiot." Percy gave a lopsided grin "But I am your idiot."
"Anyway, I was—" Annabeth started saying, before she was so rudely interrupted by the waitress grabbing her shoulder.
Percy groaned beside Annabeth "Oh come on! Can't you just leave us for one day?" He took out his trusty pen and started uncapping it.
Unknown to him, from the other side, Harry got into his battle stance as he took hold of The Elder Wand.
IMPORTANT : I edited Chapter 1 and you should give the ending a re-read because I have changed it. I think I was half asleep when posting that chapter (I'm half asleep even now)
Apologies in advance if I got something wrong about NY, I haven't visited it, I'm relying on Google for that.
Also a fun little Easter egg to Kane Chronicles if someone managed to catch it.
I've decided to try something new, replying to comments. I'll try doing it from next chapter. Let me know your opinions. (I am still new to ffn)
