RAGNAROK IS COMING
— The Red Queen —
"I stand before you now, great king, begging for your forgiveness. I beg you to reconsider."
A man was standing beside the king. He leans in, whispers and the king nods; the golden crown bounces.
The crowd leans in, the wind stills and breaths come to a stop. He raises a hand, one old, battle-scarred hand suspended in the air, and even the Old Gods glanced over. They levelled an eyebrow at the king's decision.
"I sentence you, daughter, to banishment."
'No-"
"In a realm with hills built from your ribs and rivers of your blackened hair. With birds that collapse to the beat of your heart and soldiers of the most dishonourable lives. I banish you to a land befit of your crepuscular being."
"Please, please, I beg of you. I did nothing wrong; it was mere rumours I swear, I swear it, father."
But the king did not care. He shifted on his golden throne, adjusted his golden crown and clasped his golden sphere tighter.
"Get her out of my sight."
"Please, your highness. I beg- beg of you."
...oOo...
"Do you have any idea what you have done? What this means?"
She shivered on the rotten stone floor.
"You have to tell him. Tell him it was not me." Her fingers wrapped around golden bars.
"Tell him or kill him, but I-"
"You want me to kill the king?"
Whispered words were too heavy in her ears, but she nodded, yes, yes, kill the king, that would work. She could not say that though, not here, not to him.
"No, of course not, but if I go, I can never come back. I will be stuck there forever, alone."
"Yes, yes, I know. But Helena, is that not better? You can be someone else there. You can change and show them you are not who they think you are."
She grunted, fell away from him and shivered in the corner instead. He didn't understand; how could he? He was the golden boy born from a golden throne.
"Helena, just- I don't know. This will be better. I know it will. It is a blessing, not a banishment, something that will save you from yourself, hopefully."
He didn't understand.
None of them ever understands.
...oOo…
"My Queen, welcome home." A rotten creature for a rotten queen.
She ran a hand over it's charred face. Beady black eyes shuttered and the Red Queen smiled.
"They banish me to a realm of fire and expect me to burn."
The creature flew off, bat wings booming thunder across a dead maze of earth.
"We will see who screams first."

Hey peeps, I know that this chapter is a little confusing but that is the intent and it will make more sense later on. There will be a few of these kind of chapters now, one before each main chapter which is actually good news; means we are getting into the more juicy stuff.
I feel like I haven't talked to any of you in ages and where the hell did you go Shizdym- look, I haven't talked to you in so long I've forgotten your username.
Anyway, I hope you were all utterly confused today and let me know you predictions on this chapter. What kinda vibe are youz getting from it?
