Chapter Fifteen: Not as Cruel Summer
…
Tory Nichols was walking around the halls of West Valley High School.
She never liked school that much, but it was her first day back to begin her senior year of high school.
For some reason she didn't know, she walked into the girl's locker room to find a horrifying sight.
The entire West Valley cheerleading team was there in varying states of undress. Girls Tory knew well, including Piper, Lindsay, and Mackenzie.
Tory almost gasped, Lucas was leaning on a locker smugly, arms crossed.
Folding her bare legs together sitting on the locker next to him, Moon laughed, running her hands across the top of Lucas' head. "Hey there Tory."
"Wh-What. What is going on?" Tory asked in shock.
Yasmine answered her question, purring as she leaned on the locker next to Lucas. "Almost everyone here agreed to let Luke take our virginities at one point or another. Might as well lose them as a group."
Tory watched silently, Yasmine closed her lips over Lucas'.
Moon wrapped her arms around Lucas and Yasmine smirked in Tory's direction. "He's ours now."
"Guess you were too butch for him." said Yasmine.
Tory wanted to insult them, yell, hit them. But she couldn't move.
She witnessed the horror and the sinking feeling that indeed, the most attractive, wealthy, and popular girls at West Valley High had Lucas in the palms of their hands.
Tory gasped quietly, rubbing her eyes as she sat up awake in her room.
She was not having a good morning.
Her dreams were still sexual but had moved from being fun to literally being nightmares.
Tory rubbed her eyes, groaning quietly.
She should've known it was a nightmare. Piper would never do that to her. Moon wouldn't have either, but the other cheerleaders, especially Yasmine, would've taken every opportunity to rub their control over Lucas right in Tory's face.
Practice had changed.
Terry Silver largely let Kim Da Eun run the classes to prepare the girls for both the US Karate Nationals in Chicago and the Sekai Taikai or Korea Open. Cobra Kai had changed greatly.
The Senseis from Korea and abroad had very brutal but effective methods to make the girls smarter and better fighters.
It was an odd feeling for Tory, the Encino Flagship dojo had only female students, but the only female Sensei was Kim.
Kim was somehow an even colder and stricter teacher than Silver was. She could be more physical in the way she reprimanded and taught the girls because she herself was a woman.
Tory slowly began to miss the days when the smiles and cheers of Lucas and his squad were still in the dojo.
No one smiled anymore at Cobra Kai. Everyone was focused too much on their technique on improving.
Kim sat all the girls down one evening and told them plainly. They'd be chosen to compete in two events, either forms known as kata, or sparring known as kumite.
Piper, Mia, and several other girls were selected to do kata.
Piper Elswith was the only person in the entire dojo who Kim and Silver had determined had the skills to excel and compete in both forms and sparring.
Tory and Devon were instructed to focus only on sparring, and her loss to Aisha Robinson was hung over her head daily.
Silver reminded her constantly that a loss to Samantha LaRusso would've been slightly more forgivable as Sam wasn't "as physically hampered" as Sam.
The loss at the time was forgiven because Lucas had won the tournament for the entire dojo, but Silver assured her "that didn't matter anymore."
It was clear the only thing Lankershim shared with the Flagship dojo was a name by now.
Her nightmare had no credence, right?
…
I'm pretty sure Moon's ass was perfect in every way.
At her house on mid July evening, I hung out with her and Yas like any other time we'd been doing so all summer. Moon was on her phone as Yasmine did some research for college apps.
Moon was laying on her stomach, wearing nothing but a short shirt and a pair of panties.
Moon's ass was a textbook bubble butt. Large, round, soft yet firm. We all laid on Moon's bed together and I placed my hand directly on her ass.
I gripped Moon's ass lightly, giving it a strong spank.
Both girls reacted differently.
Moon gave a mere snort while Yas raised an eyebrow.
"Don't try to start something, I'm in the middle of an essay here Luke." she said with her laptop tucked over her knees.
"Did I say something funny?" I asked.
Moon shook her head. "You in the mood?"
I leaned forward, pecking Moon's shoulder. "Maybe."
I circled my hand right on her bare butt. This summer was heaven on earth, pure perfection, fun in every single way.
Moon tossed her phone away, glancing over at me. "So? You just gonna grope me all day? Or are we actually gonna do something?"
"In a minute." I muttered, gripping her slightly harder. "This is really fun."
I then gave her a hard spank and Moon gasped now. "You trying to mark me?"
"Nah."
Moon turned around and jumped into my lap.
She leaned me against her bedroom wall and spoke quietly before my lips. "Naughty," she said simply.
I tried to kiss her but Moon managed to catch my lips with her teeth. Sex with Moon was always passionate, but it was nice to see Moon keep things spicy for a change when we made out.
Lip bites were uncommon with both Yas and Moon, but I found this pretty sexy.
Moon let go of my bottom lip and we made out slowly for a bit.
Moon cupped my chin, speaking quietly. "Which do you prefer? My ass, or my tits?"
"Unlike you to ask," I said.
She lowered her jaw, looking at me. "It was an honest question."
"Why do girls care? It doesn't matter."
"Matters to us," Yasmine muttered, still typing on her laptop.
I sighed, it was a genuinely hard question.
Moon had the nicest ass I'd ever seen, ever. Or touched for that matter. Tory's was a close second, technically Tory's was larger, but under close inspection through both look and touch, Moon's was better.
"This."
I spanked Moon yet again, using my right hand to grip her naked rear.
She yelped suddenly, gasping and smiling widely. "Oh come on!-"
Moon yelped and giggled again when I leaned her up out of my lap and placed her on her bed.
I kissed her furiously and Moon returned the favor.
This girl was so hot I think when things got going I damn near lost my mind.
Yasmine nearly woke us both out of it. "I'm still writing something here!"
Moon kissed my neck, gripping my shirt. "Wanna give her some space Lulu?"
"If it's okay with you," I said to Moon before I looked over at Yas. "We're not stopping here until we're both finished. Isn't that right?"
Moon bit her lip, nodding. "Definitely." she started peeling my shirt off, putting her hand right on my stomach.
The moment Moon's lips and mine touched again, I heard Yasmine sigh. "You two are insufferable." she said putting her laptop away.
Despite her protests, Yasmine joined in on the fun and our wrestling match now included her.
…
After we were all finished, we laid under the covers of Moon's bed nude together beneath the sheets.
Moon was snuggled off to my side while Yasmine panted, leaning against the wall behind her.
She said nothing, and I looked over at Moon who was leaning on my shoulder. "I'd like to change my answer."
"For what?" Moon asked cutely, doing that adorable thing again where she tucked her bottom lip under her top one.
"I don't prefer your ass. I like your smile better."
I got to see it again and Moon leaned over. "Thanks Lulu." she pecked me strongly on the lips.
I looked over at Yas on my left. "Finish that essay?"
"Almost did."
"Where are you applying to?"
"Ugh!" Moon groaned. "This is supposed to be the one place we forget about all of that mess remember?"
"You're banging two valedictorians here. Read the room."
"You mean my room."
"Well you're with two other people Moon-"
"But still-"
Before the girls could start arguing across my bare chest I spoke up. "Alright alright alright, sorry. I was just curious that's all."
"I'm applying to every UC in the state. As well as Princeton and MIT."
I chuckled. "I thought you wanted to go into designing clothes like your parents."
"They said they didn't care so long as I got a degree and then went to some sort of Master's program."
I was jealous of Yas. Unlike me, she had the courage to do whatever. We had the same grades and probably an equally hot transcript to send to colleges anywhere across the country, but Yas didn't care.
Yasmine smiled. "What about you?"
"Haven't even started yet," I admitted.
"Really?"
I frowned. "Both my parents, and my grandparents have wanted me to go to med school for the past three years. My sister isn't stupid but it'd be way harder for her to get in, and even if she did."
"What?" Yasmine leaned on her arm, rubbing her hand on my shoulder.
"They're as old school as it gets. My dad's side of the family and my mom's don't have anyone to, as they say. Inherit the family tradition."
"Well what do you want to do instead?" Moon asked.
If we got her mind off weed, reruns, snacks, and sex for the time being, we succeeded in adding Moon to the conversation.
"Something professionally with karate."
Yasmine snorted. "There's barely any money in it. Even now. You could do anything Luke, why that?"
"Because I like it a lot," I said. "Also. Fuck my parents."
"Fuck parents." Yasmine pecked me on the lips.
I held her by the back of the head, and she didn't make a sound when we leaned back on Moon's bed and began to make out.
Moon sighed, stepping out completely naked over Yas and I to walk across her bedroom floor.
"Gonna get something to eat from the kitchen. You two want anything?" she asked.
"Nope." Yasmine said.
"I'm good."
"Got plenty to eat here." Yasmine joked, biting my earlobe.
Moon chuckled and walked off while Yas and I rolled around in her bed.
Panting, Yas smiled at me. "Can we stop for a second? I'm a bit tired."
"Then you wanna go watch random stuff on Moon's TV in the living room?"
Yas shook her head, still smiling. "Nah. I just wanna rest here." she put her hand on my chest. "With you."
I was surprised but still touched by the gesture. "Okay."
"Saw the way you were looking at Moon when she just left."
"I am still a guy Yas."
"I know but. Do you still have feelings for her?"
I shook my head. "I realized how wrong it was of me to let that get in the way of your guys' friendship."
"Nothing was ruined," Yas said as we cuddled together. "If anything it helped me realize how important it was to value it."
"You've both had sex now, bound to make things awkward from here on out."
"On the contrary." cooed Yasmine, pecking me on the cheek. "Solidified how uninterested in girls I am. Moon really has fun when we're all screwing, but I swear I'm just here for you."
"I'm touched."
"Luke there's a reason why Moon and I agreed to this. Realizing how bad and stupid of an idea dating was is part of it, but that wasn't the main reason."
I smiled. "All three of us were still horny as fuck?"
I laughed as Yas pushed my shoulder. "That was another part of it. But it was the same thing Moon told me for why she agreed to your thing last summer."
"Why's that?"
"Whatever you end up doing or any of us go. You're gonna be really huge in it. Heck. Everyone at school knows your name, knows how crazy good you are at karate. This is the last time we get to see this part of you."
I shook my head. "You've both already seen me naked."
"You're still not getting it. This is the last time we'll get to, you know. Share private time together."
I got it. To be close, to have these tender moments where we just talk about whatever. It was really sweet yeah.
"I'll miss it all. Talking about what we'll do next, planning."
"Competing for valedictorian," Yas added, smirking.
We laughed together.
The rest of the day, and the week, the summer of sex continued. Moon's house was the best place to stay at any day of the week.
Yas and Moon found fun ways to keep things still simple but interesting. Yas was clearly far flatter on both sides than Moon but found other ways to outpace Moon sexually. Both girls were still best friend but with that in mind, they enjoyed sharing me as much as they enjoyed occasionally competing for my attention.
The main thing was getting Moon jealous by talking about books, movies, and TV shows with me. Yas was still really good at hiding her intelligence, Moon called her a nerd in hiding, and Yas loved coming up with sexy trivia games.
"What is." Yasmine bit her thumb. "The fourth noble gas?"
"Radon? Xenon? Uh. Shit." I said.
Yas looked away from her laptop. "Krypton."
"Damn it."
"Hmm." Yas rubbed her chin jokingly. "Pants."
"There goes my pants," I said taking them off.
"Oooh." Moon chuckled, having joined in the game just for fun knowing she'd lose. "Turn around."
"No."
"Lulu come on."
I covered my face. "So wait. The loser has to stay naked for the rest of the day? That's stupid, Moon basically does that anyway already."
"I know but it's more fun this way!" Yas said.
"This is stupid." I looked away.
"You're complaining about getting to see me naked all day?" asked Moon.
"I mean, at the risk of having to be cold the entire day here. Yeah." I said.
The summer went on and Yas and Moon kept seeing me a couple of time a week at Moon's house.
Besides all the sex, I really enjoyed just relaxing with both girls. Moon was fun to talk to because she was so kind and warm, and Yas knew everything about everything. Seriously, Princeton would probably kill to have her join.
Nearing the end of summer, I realized what amazing girlfriends Yas and Moon would be. Not just because they'd gained an incredible amount of sexual experience with both me and each other. I mean, spending an entire summer just doing this would make both of them pretty great at it.
But no, we spent so much time talking, relaxing together, watching random stuff on Moon's TV, and eating together. That Yasmine and Moon and I pretty much didn't want this to end.
But it ultimately did, and without words, we moved on casually as if it never really happened.
…
Closing my locker, the first few weeks at West Valley High had gone by smoothly.
Every guy at West Valley pretty much wanted to try out at Lankershim when word had spread I had opened the Cobra Kai dojo there again.
I mean, it was what helped me get so much attention from girls the past two years here.
Unfortunately, I made it clear Sensei Kreese and I had more than enough students already.
Hawk and the guys and I kept up the tradition of riding every Saturday night. To the beach and around town and stuff.
Then we all went back to my garage at my grandparent's house to work out, play Halo, and eat pizza.
Mom was entering the second trimester of her pregnancy. It was a little too early to determine the baby's gender, but despite Johnny being part of our family, there were kinks to work out.
Robby and I were going to have a half brother. We'd been step brothers for months now, but we could barely talk to each other.
School was painful.
I actually missed the days when Hawk, Rick, Shawn, and the boys would harass Miguel. Because at least then the interactions weren't these awkward silent staring contests across classrooms and hallways.
Miguel and Robby had become inseparable oddly, considering that I knew them to be worst enemies under a different turn of events.
Demetri followed them along, always glancing at us in the hallways as if Cobra Kai would still mess with them.
Even though all of us were seniors now, we all sit differently at lunch, if our cliques were still formed from day one.
The cheerleaders sat with Yas and Moon near the wall.
All the Cobra Kai guys sat at two tables with me.
The Cobra Kai girls sat with Devon, Tory, and Piper by a different table. And Eagle-Do or Team Lightning had their own table too.
Despite the dojo only having four people now, Bert, Chris, Nate, and the others still sat with Miguel, Sam, Robby, and Aisha.
No one between different pairs of tables seemed to talk to each other. I didn't blame any of them.
We had literally fought each other both inside and outside of tournaments for over two years now. Sometimes very violently.
But luckily, we were finding ways to resolve all of this.
…
John Kreese was sick of the tepid and boring ways all of his students seemed to be interacting with everyone from Steel Eagle and Miyagi-Do karate at their school.
They were seniors. But did they hate each other or not?
But still, even when Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso were seniors it was clear they were still enemies.
They started fistfights in the cafeteria over Daniel having sat on a blueberry pie, there were no reports given by his students that Daniel and Johnny would awkwardly stare at each other in the halls occasionally.
Out of all of his students, he was proudest of small but proud Kenny Payne.
He vocally abhorred Anthony LaRusso. In the hallways, during lunch, even during classes when the teachers had left the room for a moment.
Both boys had started their freshman year at high school, but at least Kenny had no problems making it clear he didn't like Anthony.
John was happy his old rival's son was receiving poor treatment from Kenny.
Kenny was the newest student at the dojo but oddly put in the most effort.
He made older and much more experienced students look bad, something Kreese refused to show his smile over despite berating Dieter, Edwin, Mikey, Rickenberger, and several others over.
Kreese absolutely refused to teach any sort of forms or kata, because he simply didn't know any or respect it at all. He even went so far as to deny Lucas the opportunity to teach kata anymore because he wanted the dojo focused so much on sparring for the Nationals tournament.
The boys at the Lankershim dojo were held to a higher standard of training than any other dojo in the San Fernando Valley, or all of California for that matter.
Lucas helped lead warm ups, where all the Cobra Kais, now all black belts except for Kenny who was now a blue belt approaching purple belt, ran around the mat in their GIs.
By this point, all of the boys had mastered their fundamentals, even Kenny Payne.
The basics, needing to move around in a proper stance, know how to fight from both sides, southpaw and orthodox stances with the right and left hands forward respectively, and how to land and avoid the straight punch and round kick were all mastered.
Kreese and Lucas were teaching the class the next step, which was the more advanced aspects of sparring.
Specifically three techniques.
The hook kick, learned by some but not mastered, the sweep, and how to create and avoid angles and to use them to score.
Kreese explained how karate was a very linear sport, but opportunities to angle your opponent were what let you defeat them.
He showed how you could jab or fake attacks and start to move around your opponent to kick them off the angle. How to dodge better by merely using the ring instead of just moving back and blocking.
Heading into early September, Kenny had trained under John Kreese and Lucas Schwarber for almost nine entire months.
The standard karate belt testing was to wait two months between colored belts until green, and then afterward three or maybe more in some cases.
Kenny was progressing so fast that he knew all the material and more to test for his purple belt.
Kenny needed to know standard self defense techniques as well as basics, and would be tested on sparring.
For self defense techniques, he needed to know how to deal with certain attacks.
Kreese or Lucas would name 'Face attack one' or 'round kick two' and Kenny would have to do a certain block and attack.
For basics, Kenny needed to show proper form, or kime, and know all the strikes their names in both Korean and Japanese to make things more difficult, and how to do them correctly.
The reverse punch, the jab punch, the round kick, the back kick, the hook kick, and all of the blocks.
Despite Kenny's prowess, sparring was actually his most difficult part of testing.
Everyone in the dojo was much taller than him, much older and stronger, and far more experienced.
Kenny didn't care about any of that still. They were reasons why he needed to prove himself more in the ring.
On average, Kenny beat Dieter, Edwin, Big Red, Mikey, and any other Cobra Kai by at least two points no matter the day he sparred.
During free sparring, Kenny didn't sweat them either.
Rickenberger, Hawk, and his own brother gave Kenny the most trouble.
Kenny scored here and there, but the size advantage aside, Hawk and the others had technique as refined if not better than Kenny's so they tended to beat him.
Lucas and Kreese were in disagreement.
They both knew Kenny technically already had the sparring and technical ability to go so far as to test for brown belt within a matter of weeks. Lucas argued that it would look bad for the dojo if there were only black belts.
Kreese countered saying Kenny needed to be recognized for his ability. He could light a fire under everyone else if he was promoted just a bit earlier if it meant it would inspire everyone to work harder as he was catching up quickly.
Even though everyone had earned black belt properly by now, Kreese and Lucas didn't want to test and promote Kenny so soon. And the reason why Kenny was putting in so much effort was simple:
He wanted to be taken to compete at Nationals.
Kenny couldn't even make it past the quarter finals at the All Valley, but at Nationals he knew he'd be put to compete against boys his age and relatively of or closer to his size. Making things much fairer for him.
After a week of considering it, Kreese and Lucas tested Kenny Payne for his 4th Kyu, or purple belt.
Kreese abandoned the belt system he used for years to favor the traditional Shotokan karate belt system Lucas was using.
Not that it mattered, everyone in the dojos except for Kenny was still a first degree or higher black belt in the Shotokan Tang Soo Do hybrid Kreese and Lucas helped create.
Kenny passed the test with flying colors, and the best news of what was basically his entire life was given.
Kenny would compete in the 14-15 year old boys division in the highest possible category of difficulty despite it being his first ever tournament in such a division.
Heading into November with his new purple belt tied proudly around his waist, Kenny Payne and the rest of the boys of Cobra Kai were feeling ready.
Nationals was a month away, and their hard work was going to be put to the test.
…
While Kreese and Silver focused solely on the physical aspects of competition, Chozen, Johnny, and Daniel had a different approach.
They had far less students. And far fewer resources. Their dojo didn't have a mat or a roof, or even a single punching bag after Johnny failed to find replacements when the old one broke.
Sam, Aisha, Miguel, and Robby were the only ones who showed up to practice.
School had been tough for them as it was their senior year. All of their friends had quit karate at the complete dominance in karate Cobra Kai had throughout the entire Valley.
Miguel tried his best, but his heart wasn't in the right place. His relationship with Sam had been rocky for months since the summer, and he wasn't even competing in the National tournament.
Sam wasn't at her best either, but Robby and Aisha were putting their best foot forward.
Aisha had trimmed down her weight as Johnny had trained her personally since the start of the summer.
Johnny kept reminding her she earned her win against Tory at the All Valley, her first place finish was well deserved and she could very easily take first place again during Nationals.
Aisha could spar for several rounds on the sparring deck Demetri helped make the previous semester with Sam.
Chozen learned the points system Nationals would be using and insisted Aisha and the others at least wore gloves from now on when fighting to at least get used to it.
Aisha and Robby would spar too, and despite it clearly looking like Robby would beat her, Aisha could go for two three minute rounds straight barely getting tired.
Robby and Aisha's cardio improved tremendously, but above all, Chozen taught them the right way.
He insisted on clarity of mind during competition. He already knew their technique was perfect, Johnny and Daniel had taught both of them for nearly three years already. And in competition both of them had landed third place or higher at the two All Valleys they'd gone to.
But Chozen helped bring confidence and mental strength to Aisha and Robby.
He didn't tell them stories of what it was like being raised with karate in Okinawa. He taught him how to clear their minds, how to focus, how to block properly.
Daniel had to admit, Chozen taught karate more like Mr. Miyagi did than he ever could.
Despite there almost being more Senseis than students at Miyagi-Do, the dojo was still ready for competition.
…
Kim Da Eun and Terry Silver were sharing wine in his office.
Silver was reviewing sparring footage on his computer. He had been able to find a retired 19 year old karate champion to come in and spar with Tory. She had been more than happy to fight after a few rounds of warming up with other girls, and Silver spoke.
"I swear, if Barnes had actually learned to focus and read his distance better. He'd be Nichols in a nutshell."
Kim sipped from her wine glass, shaking her head. "Nichols disappoints me. I prefer Lee."
"Lee will be lucky to last a few rounds when we all go to Chicago."
Kim couldn't disagree, she stared down at her glass and swirled her wine in her hand.
"And if other schools outperform our students. We'd look bad heading into the Sekai Taikai."
Silver chuckled. "That won't happen. John's students are all boys now, they won't outperform anyone."
"I wasn't talking about John." Kim said calmly. "I was talking about LaRusso."
"That won't happen either."
"Why even give them a chance?" Kim shrugged. "The Valley was supposed to be ours. The world is supposed to be next, and you let some fool from Okinawa step on your plans."
"Toguchi isn't a threat." answered Silver. "He can't build good fighters without a mat and any sort of equipment."
"His assistants are all karate champions."
"At the All Valley alone." Silver said. "Using just gloves and not even having a punching bag. Sounds more like a YMCA karate program than a real school."
Kim crossed her knees together, shifting where she sat in front of Silver's desk. "Why not hire someone to burn Miyagi-Do to the ground? Make it look like an accident. Why not do everything in your power to prevent them from competing?"
"Because I'm that certain they won't win."
Silver interrupted Kim slightly. "The last time I was certain we'd win. Was earlier this year at the All Valley. I had, an opportunity. To shift the odds in our favor."
Kim understood. "You could've bribed the referees you mean."
"Quite easily." Silver nodded. "It was a risk that deserved to be taken. I took that risk before."
Curious but not offended, Kim tilted her head and kept listening.
"But while the girls at the time severely disappointed me. The boys on the other hand were the stuff of legend."
Kim blinked and Silver continued. "What you can never buy back is youth. And Cobra Kai's students are all still young. But they're incredibly powerful in their own right. I knew Lucas Schwarber wanted to win so badly, that nothing was going to possibly stop him that day."
"Why tell me this?"
"Because I want you to know Cobra Kai karate deserves to be taught around the world. I'll do anything, anything necessary, no matter how dire to ensure it's taught. But our students will have no need to cheat in order to win."
"Why's that?"
"You taught them well enough. We, we taught them well enough." Silver added. "And unless I wasn't certain, I would take the steps necessary to ensure our victory. But just competing?"
Kim watched Silver look up from his lap for a second.
"We're going to win."
