"Whoa! What was that?!" Nemona asked as she Chloe and Ashley looked around.
"Go-ohhh…" It came again.
"I've never heard that kind of cry before," Nemona said. "Could be some kind of strong pokemon or something!"
"…Sound… ex… hausted…" Ashley spoke up.
"Exhausted huh." Chloe said, "I hope they are okay."
"I say we find whatever made that cry," Nemona said. "Make sure it is alright. Let's take a look around, Ashley, Chloe. Just be careful-theres a kind of unsafe cave not far from here, so steer clear."
This got a nod from Chloe and Ashley, as they followed the cry through a side path to the top of the cliff overlooking the beach.
"…There!…" Ashley said, pointing to a collapsed Pokémon with two houndour in front of it and between them and the collapsed Pokémon was… "is… that… Melo… etta?"
It was indeed. The Meloetta Ashley met in Unova was there protecting the unknown Pokémon, but before they could fight, the unknown Pokémon let loose a loud roar.
"Whoa!" Chloe yelped as she and Ashley fell down the cliff due to the sound causing the part of the cliff they were standing on to give way.
As they fell Ashley was tumbling head over heels, and ended up with her backpack opening going on Chloe's head, the high end shrinking technology shrinking her, and storing Chloe in the backpack. Where she was pushed back against Ashley's sandwich bread, giving her a soft landing. Though as a living being it didn't hold her in the Rotom phones moved to where Ashley could grab it with her teeth as she was safely set down on the beach.
Meanwhile with Ashley back on all fours the backpack was now flat again, and Chloe slid off the sandwich and to the backpack ground. Looking out as she approached the opening she saw the bottom half of her view was taken up by Ashley's head, which was now giant sized to her. Meanwhile the top half let her see the houndour running away as Ashley turned her head over her shoulder to see Chloe.
"Are… you… okay?" Ashley asked, causing Chloe to back up in shock, as from her perspective when Ashley spoke like that she could see straight down her throat.
"I'm fine," Chloe said after recovering and start to walk back to the opening. "Wasn't expecting to see down your throat as you talked, but I trust you. And this is actually a nice way to travel. Add a few things for comfort, and it would be wonderful. Is the pokemon all right?"
This caused Ashley's eyes to widen as she took off running up to them, driving Chloe back into the backpack from the wind.
"Zor zor," Ashley cried to them.
"Melo," Meloetta sighed, "Mel etta."
Meloetta and Ashley talked for a bit, convincing Meloetta to help with anything she could, and that Ashley was Ash. While Chloe just stood in the backpack watching before Ashley turned her head back.
"…Can… you… pass… the… sandwich… to… me…" Ashley asked.
"Sure!" Chloe said running behind the sandwich and pushing it to the entrance of the backpack so Ashley could grab it with her mouth and give it to the pokemon. "What happened to that Pokémon any way?"
"…Don't… know…" Ashley said as the Pokémon ate. "Melo… etta… was… on… the… beach… on… the… last… day… of… her… vacation… when… this… Pokémon... just… collapsed… in… front… of… her…•
The Pokémon then finished eating, and moved toward a cave before glowing, and changing into a form that looks like it was meant for battle, before heading into the cave.
"…It… said… to… follow… it… to… the… exit…" Ashley said. "…Do… you… want… to… walk… with… me… or stay… in… the… back… pack?"
"I'll stay here," Chloe said. "That cave looks scary."
"…Alright," Ashley said and after saying goodbye to Meloetta walked into the cave after the Pokémon.
"Oyy! Ashley!" Nemona called a few minutes of walking later as she looked up to the ceiling. Where she saw Nemona at the exit. "There you are Ashley. You okay? You're not hurt, right? And where's Chloe?"
"…We… are… fine…" Ashley called up. "Chloe… is… here… too…"
"Thank goodness," Nemona said, "I must not be able to see her, but if you two had gotten hurt because I said we should go looking for whatever made that cry… no, Nevermind that! Right now we've got to focus on getting you two back up here. You've just gotta find someway to climb out of there! If you two can get close enough, I'll try pulling you up with one of my Pokémon's moves!"
They then followed the Pokémon through the cave watching in awe as it pulverized a boulder, released another loud cry to scare away a pack of houndour, and destroyed another boulder.
"Look out!" Nemona cried, "behind you! It's behind you!"
Turning around, sending Chloe into the side of the backpack as they paled when they saw a Houndoom approach.
Ashley, knowing she could not fight with Chloe in her backpack, reached down with her mouth to the straps and grabbed a pokeball attached to it, releasing Sprigatito while Chloe released the Pawmi she had caught on the path to the lighthouse. But before they could attack the Pokémon got between them, and forced Houndoom back, before Houndoom called its pack back to surround them. Only for the Pokemon to grab Ashley as she returned Sprigatito and jump with her and Chloe in the backpack up to Nemona.
"Way to go!" Nemona cheered, "for a second I thought you were both goners. But where is Chloe?"
"I'm here!" Chloe said, jumping out of the backpack the technology growing her back to normal size as she left, much to the surprise of of Nemona and the Pokémon.
"How?" Nemona said as Ashley explained to the Pokémon.
"When the cliff collapsed beneath us I fell into the backpack. Its shrinking technology shrunk me down to fit. It is actually a nice way to travel."
"Whoa! That's so cool," Nemona said before the Pokémon changed back to how it was when Ashley and Chloe found it. "Whoa! What's wrong? Maybe it used up all its power? What is this pokemon anyway? It kind of looks like a cyclizar, but I've never seen one quite like this before… and now it looks so different from a minute ago. You think it's okay?"
"Hard to say, but I hope so." Chloe said as Ashley nuzzled it in worry.
"You can't tell either huh?" Nemona said, "well all that aside, I'm seriously glad to have you all up here in one piece. You know that battle down there was really something. Ashley and this fella looked totally in sync facing down those Pokémon."
"She didn't even tell it what to do," Chloe said.
"Seriously? Well I guess she isn't its trainer yet," Nemona said looking at Ashley and the pokemon as it got up. "Oh good! Looks like I picked up a little! Do you think this fella was the one making that mysterious cry we heard before?"
"I do," Chloe said, as the Pokémon gave another cry.
"Oh man, oh man, oh man! The more I look at this Pokémon, the more mysterious it seems." Nemona said. "If Ashley does become its trainer, she's gotta let me battle against it! Let's exchange numbers so we can get in touch if we somehow get seperated again!"
With that Nemona got Chloe's number, and Chloe got hers, before Ashley's rotom phone moved to be included in the number trade.
"And here," Nemona said handing Chloe a TM for Swift. "This will let you teach your Pokémon moves to battle stronger Pokémon. Think before you use it though! TM's can only be used once. You've all been through enough for a minute. I think we better take a breather. Let's just get to the lighthouse. That'll be a good spot to relax."
"Right!" Chloe agreed as they all headed to the lighthouse.
