It wasn't every day that Venti made the twins try a new dish. He only did it every couple weeks, the twins were very stubborn about making sure food was safe for them to eat these days, after a scare in Liyue with shrimp. Apparently, the type of shrimp of Teyvat was toxic to immortal space dragons. Who knew? Well, Venti he guessed. Ever since the shrimp tabaccle, the twins had begun using some strange magic power thing(...?) that told them about the details of the food, but details Venti had never heard of before? Like, what the heck was hydrogen, and why did it make things sour? And apparently it was the lithium in Teyvatian shrimp that did them in. What lithium was, Venti may never know. Not for lack of trying on the twins' part. They had given him a detailed explanation of elements and tiny particles making up everything in the world and Venti himself. Sure, cool concept. But different particles making different materials even though it was all essentially the same particle type but with different numbers of things floating around?! Too much for his brain. Venti wasn't an alchemist. He was not Albedo. The twins really should've explained it to Albedo instead. The guy woulda thought it was fascinating.
But anyways, it was Venti's day to cook. And he unfortunately had no idea what to make. He didn't even know what was safe to make. Since the twins had discovered a newfound hatred for shrimp, they were suspicious of everything they did not make and test themselves. How neither of them had come across shrimp in the centuries they had lived on Teyvat, Venti had no idea. Not that he minded, he shared Mora- Zhongli's dislike of seafood. And so did the twins now.
Zhongli had promised to show up this week. What that man did now that he was retired, Venti had no idea. He always seemed too busy though, claiming work or preset plans. Even Ei came to dinner more often than the old grump. Ei… she was coming tonight. What were her food preferences? Uuuuuuugh. The twins didn't usually make him cook. He was no good at anything except apple pie, that heavenly dessert they brought with them from some world called Earth. They mentioned Earth a lot. Venti figured they spent a lot of time there. Either that, or their were at least two hundred different worlds called Earth. Which, honestly, would make a lot of sense with how often the stories from that particular world didn't seem to line up with each other. But anyyyyway, Ei always had ideas about the foods from Inazuma for Venti to make. He could just pop over to Inazuma real quick and see what she wanted.

Ei wanted soup. Venti could do soup. So he wizzed over to Liyue, stole some bamboo shoots, and got to work. First he set a pot with pork broth to boil, having some leftover from the last time Paimon had gotten sick. Then he took a nap, seeing as if the house burnt down the twins would never make him cook again. Finally, he dumped all the ingredients in in one fell swoop and went back to sleep.
