The Granger Son

Chapter 21

The morning of their return to Hogwarts, Harry and Hermione were taken to Kings Cross Station by their parents to get to Platform 9 ¾ on time for when the Hogwarts Express arrived. Making it to Platforms 9 and 10 with their trolleys of belongings, the siblings hugged their parents 'goodbye' for now, knowing they would see them again at the end of term, before running onto Platform 9 ¾. They waited for the Hogwarts Express to pull in, and when it did, they loaded their trunks and belongings onto the red locomotive before finding a compartment and settling down. Before they knew it, the train was pulling out of the station and on its way to Hogwarts for the second half of term.

Harry watched his sister read a book for a while before asking, "When do you think we should hold the next Potter's Army meeting?"

Hermione finished reading the paragraph she was on before closing the book and looking up at her brother. She thought briefly for a moment before answering, "I'd say either tomorrow or the day after, either after dinner or during free period. Definitely not tonight, though. We all are just coming back to school. But don't worry, whether you tell me or Draco, we'll get the message out through the coin."

Just then, the door of their compartment opened and Draco stepped inside, along with Daphne and Blaise. Daphne smiled at the siblings and greeted, "Hello Grangers. It's good to see you both again."

Giving them hugs, Daphne sat down next to Draco who had taken a seat next to Harry, Blaise sitting next to Hermione. Looking at his friends, Draco asked, "How was Yule for you two?"

"It was great; we had a great time with our parents," Harry answered with a smile.

"That's good," Blaise replied. Looking over at the brunette next to him, he noticed that she was wearing a familiar ruby and diamond necklace around her neck. With a smile, he couldn't help but say, "You're wearing the necklace that I sent you."

Blushing, Hermione nodded with a smile. "Yes, and thank you for giving it to me. It is a beautiful gift, Blaise."

"I'm glad you like it, Hermione."

"I love it."

Draco, Daphne, and Harry watched the two for a moment before Draco finally just said, "Oi Blaise, just kiss her or ask her out on a date already."

Harry nodded in agreement. "Honestly, because the flirting and skirting around your obvious feelings for each other is becoming old. I can only tease my sister but so much."

"Harry!" Hermione cried embarrassedly, the blush on her face turning brighter while Blaise simply laughed, though it was obvious he too was embarrassed.

"Oh, leave them alone, you two," Daphne admonished them. "Blaise will ask Hermione out properly when he's ready. Besides, we have more important things to discuss right now."

Looking at the blonde, Harry asked, "Like what?"

"Like when we're getting back the P.A. back together. Or better, how to avoid Umbridge and Filch when we do."

Harry and Hermione looked at each other before Hermione said, "We were just discussing that before you three came in."

"Hermione is thinking either tomorrow or the day after," Harry said in addition.

Nodding, Draco asked, "When on one of those days?"

"We're thinking either during free period or after dinner. When I tell either you or Hermione what I decide, I want you to get the message out to the other members through the coin."

Satisfied with that answer for now, the five friends all sat in the compartment and talked, playing games of Exploding Snap as the train chugged along. It wasn't long before it was almost time for them to pull into Hogsmeade Station to arrive at Hogwarts. Blaise, Daphne, and Draco went back to their original compartments to get their carry-on belongings, the Granger siblings gathering their own to get ready for the return feast in the Great Hall. As they felt the Hogwarts Express slowing down, they knew that it was time to get back to the old grind.

As Professor Dumbledore gave his usual 'welcome back' speech for the second half of term, Umbridge couldn't help but glare over at the Slytherin Table. Yes, that was the table of her own Hogwarts House, but it was the child she was eyeing that was making her glare. Potter was back and she knew that he and his friends were going to be up to no good sooner or later. As if feeling her gaze, Potter glanced at her briefly before turning his attention back to the Headmaster. She watched as Draco Malfoy whispered something to the bespectacled boy, causing him to chuckle while the blond wizard smirked, Malfoy also glancing at her before turning back to the Dumbledore. Seeing them do this made her scowl harder, feeling herself bristle. She didn't know what the Malfoy heir had said to Potter, but it was obviously about her, and they were laughing. She was not going to be laughed at. As the feast began, she swore that she would find out whatever it was that Potter and his friends were doing, no matter what. And if she had to go about not so ethical means of doing so, then she would.

The next day, classes resumed as usual, and everything went smoothly. In Defense Against the Dark Arts, Umbridge "taught" her classes, but paid special attention to her Fifth Years, particularly Potter and his friends. They weren't acting strangely, taking notes, and reading along in their textbooks, but she knew they were up to something. She just wish that she had some concrete proof. Well, once she thought of a good way to get information out of a few students, then she'd proceed.

As Umbridge moved around the class lecturing, Hermione just knew that the pink toad was scheming. She wanted to uncover what she, Harry, and the others were doing, but she just couldn't. And hopefully, she would never find out. Even so, Hermione couldn't help but think of the repercussions of what would happen if she found out. Because she worked in the Ministry, she would more than likely involve the Minister since the Ministry decided to be involved in Hogwarts, but hopefully things would not get to that point.

Later that night, all was quiet throughout the castle, all the students in their designated Common Rooms were sleeping peacefully or up late studying for their classes. One of those students slumbering was Hermione, nestled in her bed in Ravenclaw Tower. However, unlike her dormmates, she was not sleeping peacefully. No, she was sleeping rather fretfully, for the dream she was having was not one that was pleasant. In fact, the dream she was having was one like she used to have when she was younger. A dream that was more so a vision.

In her dream, she kept dreaming that Umbridge was going to discover the Room of Requirement, blasting a hole into the wall where it was hidden and revealing the hidden room, as well as Potter's Army. She couldn't see how she was going to find out about the secret group, but she could just see that she would, along with Mr. Filch. No longer being able to stay asleep, Hermione woke up panting, looking around at her sleeping dormmates to see they weren't disturbed by the fretful sleeping she had been doing. Sighing, she wiped a hand down her face, hoping that dream wasn't going to come true. Professor McGonagall believed she had Seer qualities that only manifested in her sleep through dreams, and she had come to learn that any dream she had that seemed too real was more than likely a vision, no matter how minor it was. And that dream of Umbridge was just too real for her. But one thing she was able to see in her dream, was that it seemed like daylight when Umbridge had blasted the wall out. Hopefully that would be significant.

A buzzing sound met her ears, and she looked to her bedside table next to her wand to find her coin for Potter's Army buzzing. Grabbing the wand, she looked at it and read the message that either Harry or Draco had sent out. The coin read that the next meeting for Potter's Army was going to be tomorrow after dinner. Setting the coin back down, Hermione couldn't help but hope that her dream-vision had been wrong. Umbridge couldn't find out about them, not so soon. With a feeling of uneasiness, the brunette settled back down into bed, hoping that—for once—she was wrong.
