During the next week they went to all their classes and trained with Penny's Pokémon greatly increasing the level of pokemon, due to high level pokemon training lower level and Pokémon causing them to gain levels alot faster and evolving Floragato to Meowscarada, Fuecoco all the way to Skeledirge, Pawmi to Pawmo, and both Ralts to Kirlia (who recieved an Everstone each since they didn't want to be Gardevoir). Once the weekend came they took a Flying Taxi to the South Province (Area Three) Watchtower and headed through Artazon to East Province (Area One) followed the path, where Ashley caught a Wattrel that attacked while they were riding the speedy Miraidon, jumped off the cliff to land on East Province (Area Two), since Team Star had a blockade, though luckily Area Two was lower so they could safely land there. They then continued on through Levincia, through East Province (Area Three) through Zapapico, through Dalizapa Passage, up Glaseado Mountain, pass the Glaseado Gym, and to Montenevera with the Ghost Type Gym, with Miraidon being so fast they got there in a single day.
"Hey Chloe, Penny?" Ashley asked as they approached the door. "Do one of you want to challenge the gym first? I've challenged lots of gym before, but you two haven't."
"Chloe can go first," Penny said, "It will give me time to calm my nerves."
"I do have a plan," Chloe said with a smile.
"Got it!" Ashley said as they approached the counter.
"Welcome to the Montenevera gym!" the secretary said. "Let me register you three as Challengers. Your names are Chloe, Penny, and Ashley correct?"
"Yes," they agreed.
"Great!" the secretary said, "now, in order to face Gym Leader Ryme, you'll first need to pass the Gym Test. Here at Montenevera Gym that means warming up the audience for the Main Event! That's right-you're the opening act! Your job is too get up on stage, show usmsome dead fierce Pokémon battles and get the crowd excited before the Gym Leader's concert begins. You can start the Gym Test by speaking with MC Sledge in front of the stage outside. One of you will go first, then after the gym battle the next will go, then the third. Now get out there and have fun!"
"So we basically have to have warm up battles," Penny said, a little later as she and Ashley watched Chloe get on stage, a bit surprised it was double battles, but believing in the intense training to get up to the same level as Penny's pokemon. First was Gym Trainer Tas who had a Greavard and Shuppet. Luckily, Skeledirge and Kirlia both knew Shadowball and were at a low level 60 compared to their level 40 resulting in an easy win.
"We might have trained too much," Ashley noted.
"Agreed," Penny said as the crowd got more excited at seeing the easy victory.
Next was gym trainer Lani with Haunter and Misdreavus. Who were defeated the same way. Much to the crowds suprise at seeing such powerful Pokémon. The final trainer was MC Sledge himself with Sableye and Drifblim. With Chloe smirking before defeating Drifblim with Shadowball and Sableye with a super effective Dazzling Gleam.
With that Ryme got up on stage.
"What's allmthismnoise I'm hearin'?!" She said. "This crowds so loud, it could take the dead… lemme tell ya what I wanna hear-y'all feelin' good?!"
"Yeah!" the crowd cheered. "We're feelin' good! Ryme! Ryme! Ryme! Ryme! Woooooo!"
"Thanks for the killer opener, baby!" Ryme told Chloe. "Now I'll get this started for real. Just tell the lobby stagger you passed for formalities and come back for the gym battle."
Chloe went to,do that while Ashley and Penny stayed behind to watch Ryme, beat a cashier in a rap battle, easily, before Chloe returned for her gym battle.
Chloe sent out her Pokémon while Ryme sent out Bannette and Mimikyu. Banette started out with Shadow Sneak, dealing a lot of damage to Skeledirge, who retaliated with Shadowball knocking it out. While Kirlia's Shadowball broke Mimikyu's disguise ability, but left her open for a shadow Claw. Luckily she survived. Ryme then sent out Houndstone. Who Kirlia knocked out with Shadowball, while Skeledirge took out Mimikyu with another Shadowball. Ryme's last pokemon was a Toxtricity.
"That's not a ghost type," Chloe said to herself before remembering Terastallizing, and realizing its Tera type must be ghost.
"Kick back, relax, and enjoy this last track! Turn it up for a grave-rattlin' good time!" Ryme called as the music turned up, and several Houndstones burst out of the ground around the battle field to watch, while a Greavard showed up behind Ashley and Penny and dragged them with it to dance on top of the stereo, which they had to admit was fun.
"When I'm on the mic, even the dead rise up! DJ G-Rave and his friends over there's sure feelin' it!" Ryme said as Chloe smiled to see them happy, before Ryme terastalized Toxtricity into a ghost type, which lost to two Shadowballs hitting at the same time. "Givin' up the ghost's not really my style. I'll let you have this one though, baby. Haha! Great Battle-chilling AND thrilling! You've got spirit, kid. You earned my Gym Badge alright! And how about a VIP pass for my next show, not including the ones your friends will be the opening acts for their gym tests. I'm feelin' so good that I think I'm also gonna let you have this! Your Pokémon already know the move of course, but it may come in handy in the future. Too, but it's over! Make your way back to my stage sometime. Maybe next time we rap battle instead. Who knows? I'm sure you've got some scary-good adventures ahead. I'll be cheerin' for ya! Later!"
After the gym leader had time to heal her Pokémon, Penny and Ashley took their turns, Penny using Umbreon and Sylveon and Ashley using Meowscarada and Kirlia. Their typing and moves helping win against the Pokémon just as easily. Wattrel evolving into Kilowatrel due to the exp sharing. After healing up they returned to the Academy using the Flying Taxi.
