Father and I catch up with the other knights, were were waiting on us. "Let's go!" Father said, waving forward to the other knights. Father and I rode up front of the other knights. We started riding our horses to Camelot.

It took us three days to make it to the kingdom. It was bigger than I believed. When we arrived, the brown draw bridge was lowered, making a thundering sound when it his the ground.

We all rode through the gates in a trot, seeing other knights standing at the ends of the gates. I could see many civilians inside the gates, doing whatever they pleased. King Arthur wasn't outside just yet, so we had to wait for his arrival.

We stopped our horses and I dismounted mine, taking him by the end of the reins. One of the knights took my horse and led him to the stables so he could rest. The rest of the knights dismounted theirs, including Father.

At the stables, a boy about my age was working there. Since the king hadn't appeared yet, I decided to go talk to him. "Hello there," I said, giving him a friendly wave. His name was Garrett and we became fast friends. One unique feature about him, he was blind. It was sad that he couldn't see what I looked like.

We talked for about twenty minutes before King Arthur appeared from the castle. He was standing at the stairs with Merlin, the castle's wizard. I bid Garret farewell before following Father and the other knights inside the castle. Father and I were in the front while the other knights were behind us. King Arthur took the lead towards the round table.

I had noticed that another one of them had appeared out of the shadows. For some reason, this guy sent shivers down my spine. Why was he hiding in the shadows like that?

King Arthur pushed the two doors open, revealing the round table. Despite the uncomfortable feeling of that red-haired knight gave me, I took in the beauty of the round table. It was like just how Father described it.

We all walk to the round table, taking their seats. Father was on King Arthur's left side. There was an extra seat for myself because King Arthur knew about me coming with my father this time. We all stood up around the table. The knights, including Father, held up their shields, letting the light shine from them.

They lower their shields after saying inspiring words. The whole time, they were singing a song about being united to the kingdom. The red-head knight slammed his shield down on the table, making me jump.

"ME! Charming sing along. *Sits down with the other knights* Now let's get down to business. I waited a long time for this day. What about my new land?" he berated, his left eye was twitching badly. I crossed my arms across the table and listened closely to what was being said.

"Sir Ruber. *Shakes his head* Always thinking of yourself. As Knights of the Round Table, our obligation is to the people, not to ourselves. *Stands back up* The lands will be divided according to each person's needs," King Arthur declared to Ruber.

I already didn't like Ruber because of how selfish he was. "Then, I need more than everyone. I wouldn't support you all these years if I thought you were running a charity," Ruber said.

"The King has decided!" Father shouted, pounding his fist on the table. Father was rarely angry, but was when it came to defending the King. Ruber stood up and leaned on the table with his hands.

"Then, it's time for the new king, and I vote for me," Ruber said, using his thumb to point at himself. I couldn't help but feel angry at this request. He couldn't replace the king because he wants to. I stood up and said through gritted teeth, "My father will not serve a false king!"

"Then, he can serve... *pulls a large mace from under the table* A DEAD ONE!" Ruber shouted, leaping onto the table. He started to charge at the king, but was stopped by another knight.

Father quickly pushed me onto the floor in order to protect me. He also jumped up on the table to also protect King Arthur, only to get hit in the face with the mace. Father was knocked off of the table, landing on the floor.

Before Ruber could strike King Arthur, the king quickly pulled out Excalibur and used it to defend himself. The impact caused Ruber to fly across the table, knocking the mace out of his hand. Ruber quickly gets up, holding his right arm.

"One day, that sword will be mine! And ALL WILL BE MINE!!!" he shouted, running out of the room. I heard him barricade the door as the other knights threw about six other maces at the door.

I was still in shock by what just happened. It was so sudden that I couldn't rationalize it right away. When everything calmed down, I got to my feet and walked over to my father, who was still lying on the ground.

Other knights were wondering if he was okay. Tears rose in my eyes as I knelt down next to his lifeless body. My father... was dead... He died protecting me and the king.

I started to sob from the grief of losing my father. How was Kayley and Mother going to take it when we go back home? I didn't want to know. King Arthur brought me outside of the castle so he could speak with me.

"Your father was a brave man, son. We're going to bring his body back to your family. Your Mother and sister will need you more than ever. Would you like to ride on the wagon with him?" he asked me, putting a hand on my right shoulder.

"N-No, your majesty. I would like to ride my horse beside him," I answer him, tears running down my face. King Arthur gave me a nod and let me go to my horse.

I didn't want nobody to see me have a moment to myself so I could grieve for my father. I take my horse by the bridle bits and put my forehead to his, and started to sob again. More tears ran down my face.

I couldn't help it. Most knights or knights in training would hold back their emotions, believing that they would be seen as weak if they so much as shed a tear.

When I pulled myself together, I pulled my horse out of the stable and mounted him. Garrett had checked in with me because he could hear me crying, asking what had gotten me so upset. I told him what had occured where Father's murder had happened. He comforted me empathetically.

After Father's body was pulled out by an oxen, I followed them. I rode beside Father's body, staying silent the whole ride back home.
