The next day the three of them and all their Pokémon was in the director's office as Ashley and Penny were blacked out as there cable hatches were open and plugged in while everyone tested their programming.
"Well…" Director Clavell said, disconnecting and restoring them to wakefulness. "It appears you two have programming that can be adjusted to give you special abilities, but the codes required are in a programming language that does not exist though there are parts that were designed to be easy to understand. But you appear to be very advanced AI's now. You do however have the ability to modify each other's codes by plugging in. As well as the ability to download the move code from any TM and thus use the move yourself."
"Cool," Ashley said as Penny smirked, knowing she could get all the TM'S. They then went to get used to their new bodies.
Once the weekend came they headed to the Glaseado gym.
"Welcome to the Glaseado Gym!" the staffer said, "let me register you three as challenger, Chloe, Ashley, and Penny right?"
"That's us!" they agreed.
"Great!" the staffer said, "now in order to face Gym Leader Grusha, you'll first need to pass the gym test. Here at the Glaseado Gym, that means doing the Snow Slope Run! Ride a Pokémon down the designated course and try to reach the goal within the time limit! To start your test, just head out of the gym, and go up the slope to your left. We'll fill you in on the details there! Now get out there and have fun!"
"Sounds like a Pokémon version of Snowboarding," Ashley said as they left.
"Well the Gym Leader is a former snowboarder," Penny said, to there suprise.
Luckily the Snow Slope run was easy with Miraidon, and all three of them passed, letting them face Grusha.
"…I take it you three are the challengers?" Grusha said, "my name is Grusha. I'm a snowboarder. Used to be a pro, actually. Now I'm a gym leader. I saw you three on the slopes. Your skills… yeah, they were pretty cool. But don't let that go to your head. Winter Mountains are dangerous. They can throw your life right off course easy as that. Same thing with pokemon battles really… It's always the most dangerous when you're just starting to get the hang of things. Today's not a great day to face me, you know… you're better off giving up. You sure you want to battle me?"
"You bet!" Ashley said, stepping up.
"Still trying to act cool, huh?" Grusha said, "that's too bad. Well this is my job now… so don't take what I'm about to do personally. Get ready to feel the icy bite of reality."
With that Grusha sent out Frosmoth while Ashley used Kilowattrel who easily won with flying type attacks. Next was Beartic, which Ashley switched to Meowscarada, which looked like a bad idea at first, until you remember she knew fighting type attacks like Brick Break, which also took down Cetitan and Terastalized Altaria.
Chloe and Penny had it easier with Skeledirge and Flareon having the advantage over all of them, but in the end they won.
"You melted straight through my ice…" Grusha said, "that burning passion you have… you strive for the future no matter what challenges you face. Just like how I used to be… oh nevermind. I should give you your Gym Badge."
With that they headed back to the academy.
