It took forever for Meg to be ready to go home, as well as the triplets.
Christine hadn't expected any less when it really came down to it. This sort of wait just went hand in hand with c-sections and multiple births. They wanted to ensure that the babies were healthy and that the mama was healing well before they sent them home. She wouldn't have it any other way.
Christine carried the triplets out to the cursing herself for not bringing the stroller along today. She'd just been eager. Thankfully a nurse had remained in the room and another had pushed Meg out in a wheel chair. None of the children had been left alone for any length of time.
Christine returned with the youngest baby, Odette. She strapped her in the seat and pressed a kiss to her little forehead just as she had with the other children. She closed the door and approached Meg, holding her hands out to her.
The shorter woman took them and hesitantly pressed down on them as she pulled herself up with a wince. She helped her closer to the car and opened the door, the blonde settling slowly. She kissed her girlfriend's cheek and closed the door moments later. "Ready to go home?" Christine asked, climbing into the car.
"Of course I am. No more hospital food." Meg chirped, trying to focus on the positives. She didn't want to acknowledge that she still wouldn't be able to do anything just yet as it would just upset her and ruin her somewhat good mood. She couldn't wait until her hormones settled down and normalized again. She hoped they would, at least.
Christine giggled and pulled out of the parking lot. She made a mental note to order a couple cheese stuffed pizzas for her girlfriend and herself to share. It was Meg's favorite food and she more than deserved it.
When they arrived home, Christine's stomach dropped. For whatever reason, Chauncey was standing in their driveway. She honked and the man scurried out of the way so she could park. She stopped the car and the man showed just how much audacity he had.
Chauncey approached the back of the car and peered in at the triplets. He seemed somewhat moved, but clearly not enough to try and change his ways. He turned to the passenger side and yanked it open. He tugged Meg out of the car, causing her to yelp as he embraced her tightly.
"I want to be in my children's lives." Chauncey demanded. Christine hurried out of the car but she didn't need to do so as Meg managed to knock the man on his ass with an unexpected and well placed shove.
"Fuck you!" Meg spat, straightening her clothing. She moved to stand in front of the door that lead to the children. She would be damned if this man even got to hold his children for a second. Christine followed suit and leaned against the other side, staring Chauncey down so as to not show any weakness.
Chauncey looked between the two of them, before huffing as he stood up. "Fine. I'll see you in court. I've heard rumors about what happened to you after I left Meg. You're not fit to be a mother. Especially not when you're clearly planning on raising them with another woman when they need a father." He spat, storming away.
Christine and Meg glanced at each other before gathering the children and heading inside. They were just going to order pizza and pretend this was all a nightmare, Christine decided. It was better than actually acknowledging the situation at the moment. Hopefully it was just all hot air and empty threats.
