The Differents Mons
As Lego and Tale, known by most as the Talespinner69, waited for the trainers the Lego would be training, including Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko Kamado, an OC of Lego's named Lizzy Wagon, Inosuke Hashibira, and Android 21, the two turned to look at the path to find Lizzy walking up to the camp. She looked defeated… mentally, at least. She was also accompanied by the two Kamados, and they were alongside her.
"Yo, what's wrong?" Lego asked them, not expecting them to be back so soon.
"Munna fainted…" Lilly said. "The Shinx I was fighting used some move and took her out." Lego nodded. It was probably Bite.
"Well, we got some revives we can use," Lego said as he pulled out a little yellow prism-like crystal. "Let me see your Munna," Lego said as he stood up.
Lizzy took out her Munna, who had fainted, and Lego applied the revive to it, before Munna woke up. Lizzy hugged her Munna closely. "Munna I'm so sorry!" Lizzy said as she cried a bit while hugging her Munna. Lizzy's Munna seemed to be alright.
Lego nodded. "Let me heal Munna. It's probably still a bit injured since I used a plain old revive. They'll only restore half of a Pokemon's HP, or energy. You should probably train against a few Bidoof and Starly before fighting a Shinx again."
"Shinx can learn a Dark Type move known as Bite at a pretty low level," Tale said. "But, there is also a chance it was a higher level Shinx as well, but the chances of that aren't too likely, though there is still that chance."
"Don't remind me of the Wild Area," Lego said, referring to Pokemon Sword and Shield's Wild Area, where the Pokemon levels grew more intense the farther in the game a player got. "That was annoying in and of its own right. Especially when catching Galarian Zapdos."
"Galarian?" Tanjiro said, confused by the word.
"You know how people would say Japanese, or Chinese, or terms that refer to a region or country?" Tale asked Tanjiro. "Pretty much that. Galarian just refers to the Galar Region of the Pokemon World."
"Then what's a Zapdos?" Nezuko asked.
"Zapdos is a Legendary Pokemon that is a part of the Legendary Bird Trio," Lego said. "Being a Legendary Pokemon, Zapdos is pretty powerful as well. Not to mention, Zapdos is a part of the original 151 Pokemon of the Kanto Region, and one of the original Legendaries alongside its counterparts of Articuno and Moltres. Zapdos is also an Electric-Flying Type, though that should be a given."
"Well why did you say Galarian Zapdos?" Lizzy in return asked.
"Well, that's because in the Crown Tundra of the Galar Region, there were Galarian variants of the Legendary Bird Trio, with Zapdos becoming a Fighting-Flying Type," Tale said. "Likewise, Moltres became a Dark-Flying Type and Articuno became a Psychic-Flying Type."
"So depending on the region, a Pokemon's Type will change?" Tanjiro asked.
"Hmm… yes and no," Lego said. "You see, some Pokemon change depending on the region but because that's how they've adapted, or because of how the environment has resonated with them. This applies even here with a few regional forms able to be found, like the bestest boy, Hisuian Growlith," Lego explained. "Too bad he's a Fire-Rock Type…"
"You guys really take a Pokemon's Type into consideration," Tanjiro commented.
"Well, most battles are won due to a Pokemon's Type, as well as the moves it has," Tale said. "Pokemon Battling is literally just a giant battle of Rock-Paper-Scissors, except there are a lot of different things involved."
"Well, what are they?" Nezuko asked.
"The aspects of Pokemon Battling that impact the battle, in a simplified way, are types, moves, stats, abilities, held items, and how Pokemon are on each team's sides," Lego said. "Types apply to both the Pokemon and their moves. For moves, each one has different power and also accuracy with some moves being unable to miss, others having a more likely chance of missing, as well as moves that can instantly knock out an opponent. Stats are mostly impacted by a Pokemon's Nature, but can also be impacted in battle if a Pokemon uses a move to power up their stats or to lower their opponent's stats. Abilities we won't really be worrying about since we're in Hisui and they don't have Abilities here, sadly enough. Held items are a bit tricky, because there are a ton of different held items."
"I… only got half of that," Lizzy admitted.
"What type of items are there?" Tanjiro questioned Lego.
"They tend to range," Tale began, deciding to speak up. "A basic example would be berries, since you can use berries to either heal your Pokemon, cure them of a status like Paralysis or Sleep, raise a stat, and lower the damage of a Super Effective move. Other examples that are slightly more complicated include the Metronome which increases the power of a move the more it is used simultaneously, the Lucky Egg which increases the experience a Pokemon gets after a battle, assuming they haven't fainted, or the Soothe Bell that boosts the friendship of a Pokemon the more they spend time with their Trainer, whether it's just in their party or if it's battling other Pokemon."
"Do Z-Moves and Megas count?" Lego asked Tale.
"Yes, I believe that Mega Stones and Z-Crystals do, in fact, count," Tale answered.
"Alright, dope," Lego responded. "I personally believe that Z-Crystals don't count as a held item due to the fact that the Pokemon is not the one holding the Z-Crystal. Sure, it can be given to a Pokemon as one in the games, but in both the anime and the games, when a Z-Move is used, the Pokemon isn't the one who activates it. It's still the trainer who uses it, as well as hold onto it."
"Well in the games, a Z-Crystal has to be given to a Pokémon to hold in order for that Pokémon to be able to use a Z-Move," Tale countered.
Lego sighed. "I'm just… gonna stop before this turns into an argument."
"Fair enough," Tale responded.
"I… I'm so lost," Tanjiro said, with Nezuko and Lizzy also being very confused.
"You'll understand it later," Lego said to them. "Until then, you should probably go fight more Pokemon."
"Oh right, we were in the middle of training!" The three then went off to continue their training as Pokemon Trainers.
Lego and Tale went silent, before Tale looked at Lego. "So you were being serious about Lechonk being the new Inosuke?" Tale asked Lego.
Lego smiled, and said, "100%. I'm 100% serious."
"Oh well," Tale said. "We'll just have to wait and see."
We've covered Regional Forms, Legendaries, Battling Statistics, and Held Items. Perhaps next chapter we'll focus on an actual battle, or actually explain Mega Evolution and Z-Moves properly.
Anyways, again, thanks to Tale for appearing. Go check him out, since he is the Talespinner69. As always, we'll see you all later.
