A/N
Update schedule might be getting a little slower in the next month or two, buying a house and it is practically a full time job. Will still try to update on the weekends as usual but I can't promise it will be every weekend.
I posted a poll on my profile for the third pairing in this story, so if you are interested drop by and vote. If you have a suggestion for someone to be included in the poll, comment it. No percabeth, I just think it is a bit overplayed.
I own nothing, Percy Jackson is owned by Rick Riordan!
Chapter 5
No matter how hard he tried, Percy just could not seem to get to sleep, not after that bombshell that he had seen last night. He still couldn't believe that Grover wasn't a human, he looked so normal! And he was a higher level than him! Percy thought he knew Grover pretty well, he had spent most of the year with him after all, but apparently he couldn't even figure out that his best friend wasn't a human being.
Rubbing his eyes slightly and trying to go to sleep, his ears suddenly picked up the creaking of a bed across the room. Grover's covers shuffled, until he heard soft thumps on the floor as he got up. What was Grover doing up so early? Barely peeking an eye open, he saw Grover finish putting on his belt as he was looking around the room, before settling his eyes on Percy to see if he was awake. Stilling himself and keeping his breathing the same, Percy gave no outward indication that he was awake.
Satisfied that he was still asleep, Grover crept across the room, opening the door and softly closing it as he left. Percy sat up, what was Grover doing breaking curfew, especially since he always seemed to be the one that was always reminding Percy about the rules of the school.
Curiosity peaked, Percy got up and put on his clothes, creeping out into the hall to find where Grover had gone. Hearing steps on the stairs heading away from him and towards the main classroom area, he snuck down the stairs and followed after his friend, seeing his as he went out the door.
Percy knew he could not be caught, one reason being that he would probably lose a little bit of Grover's respect if he was and the other reason being that if a teacher or lord forbid Mrs. Dodds found out, he would definitely be serving a few detentions in his near future.

Accept/Decline
What was with all these new quests that he was getting saying death would be the failure condition? If he got a quest to eat a pretzel, would death be a condition of that too? Shaking his head, Percy quickly pressed accept and followed his friend out the door, slinking through the shadows of the courtyard to avoid being caught.
Grover seemed to be in a good hurry, almost a bit frantic, as he looked left, right, up, and down, almost expecting something to swoop in and get him any minute. Which they probably would if there is a teacher around, whatever his friend was doing he seemed to be aware of the fact he is breaking curfew.
Making it across the courtyard, Grover entered the main classroom building and continued on his way. Before Percy could follow, he saw a shadow walking along the path near the entrance, and heard the familiar grating voice of Mrs. Dodds.
"I know I smell goat, probably that damn satyr, but something else is mixed in. Definitely one of them, is the brat out here or is it just from the goat?" Mrs. Dodds muttered as she was sniffing the air. What the hell is she doing, Percy didn't smell that bad did he? Sniffing someone out is just supposed to be an idiom, not an instruction.
Deciding that he didn't want to see what sort of tor- err, detention, she had in store if she found him, Percy quietly snuck around the perimeter or the courtyard, keeping to the shadows and hiding behind bushes whenever Mrs. Dodds would sweep her gaze across his hiding place.
Mrs. Dodds stalked up to a bush he had been hiding in minutes before, only to swipe at it while cackling in glee, before snarling and allowing the bush to fall back to reveal his now empty hiding place. Deciding to continue on as his teacher seemed to be becoming more and more unhinged, almost like she wasn't going to punish him but instead kill him, Percy crept around the side of the school to escape notice. Leaving his grumbling teacher behind, he snuck his way along the side before noticing an unlocked window to a classroom. Shimmying it up, Percy crawled through and landed softly inside. Looking around, Percy crept up to the door and listened for any activity in the hallway. Hearing nothing, he decided the coast was clear and unlocked the door from the inside, slinking into the hallway and attempting to find where his friend had gone.
Hearing far away voices, Percy crept along the hall until he was outside the languages department. What was Grover doing here, who was he talking to? Creeping as quietly as he could up to the door, he pressed his ear up to it and strained to hear everything.
"But sir….she might….Percy! …solstice is coming….danger!" He could hear Gover say.
"I know my boy …. Percy may need …. taken to camp. I doubt Percy…child of…must make sure….kill him if we are not careful!" Was that Mr. Brunner? Wait tame him to camp, might be in danger, kill him! What are they talking about in there, is someone out to get him? What camp are they talking about, and what was so important about the solstice?
"In any case, we need to keep an eye on him, make sure no one hurts him. If he truly is the son of one of them, we don't want their retribution falling on our heard if he is harmed." Mr. Brunner remarked.
"Of course sir, I will do my best to keep him safe" Grover replied.
Wait, their voices are getting closer now, he got lost in his thoughts! If they opened the door with him there, it would be a disaster. As quickly and quietly as he could, Percy slipped away from the door and hurried into a nearby classroom, hoping he didn't make any noise.

"Of course sir, I can't fail on this one. The council will surely reject my searchers application if not!" Grover frantically replied.
"Off you go then." Mr. Brunner waved Grover off to bed, before he started leaving himself. Curious, Percy decided to use observe to see if his teacher was also like Grover.
Chiron (Mr. Brunner)
Title: Trainer of Heroes
Race: Centaur
LVL: ?

Chiron is the legendary trainer of heroes, and made a deal with the gods to teach as many heroes the tools to survive as he could until he wasn't needed anymore. Chiron is fond of Percy and believes he is a good kid, albeit misguided, and believes he is also a ?.
Wait, Mr. Brunner is a centaur? Aren't those things supposed to be half horse, then where is the horse? Staring at Mr. Brunner as he wheeled himself away, Percy glanced down at his wheelchair. Could they be in there, I mean that is a real small space to hide a whole lot of horse, but it is the only thing he could think of.

Oh, so his horse half is down there! Wait, it also said that Mr. Brunner, err, Chiron knew what he was, or at least had a suspicion about what he was? The plot thickens, everyone around him but him seemed to know what he was and now he might be in danger. He needed to do something with this information, he couldn't wait any longer to find out who his father is and why he affects his race.
Resolved, Percy went to the window and opened it, climbing out onto the grass outside. He knew he had to reach the dorm before Grover got there, or else he would become suspicious. Running back to the dorms, he arrived just in time to see Grover entering the building. There was no way he could beat Grover there unless he tried to climb up the building and through the window. No time like the present to try out new ideas.
Running up to the side of the building, Percy was thankful they used those larger bricks for the dormitories, giving him some place to at least get some purchase. Starting to climb, Percy went as fast as he could up the side, making sure he did not look down, after all he had no harness or anything and was a novice climber. Uh. Peeking down, Percy quickly pressed himself against the side of the building.
Why had he decided this was the only option, he could have just said that he needed to go to the bathroom or something! Gamer's mind suddenly activated, clearing his thoughts and allowing him to continue. It doesn't matter now, he was almost there and would definitely beat Grover with a little time to spare if he hurried.

Deciding not to chance fate and fail at acrobatics, Percy rushed up the rest of the wall until he reached his dorm window. Opening it while thanking Grover for keeping the window unlocked since he liked to 'smell the nature' or whatever, Percy quickly climbed into his dorm. Closing the window and quickly jumping into bed, he fought to get his breathing under control and regulated as if he was still sleeping.
Hearing the turning of his doorknob, Percy lay still and kept his breathing under control as Grover entered and looked around. Settling his eyes on Percy and seeing he was still asleep, Grover let out a sigh of relief and walked back over to his bed, climbing in and promptly going to sleep.

Letting out a small sigh of his own, Percy reflected on everything that he learned. Tomorrow, he had to look up who this Hecate woman was, if the name Chiron had any significance, and see if he could figure out who his dad was. Unfortunately, he still had classes tomorrow, so he would have to go to the library during lunch or something. Not like he needed to eat anyways. Finally, Percy drifted of to sleep, mind still whirling from the day's events.

For sleeping in a bed, HP and MP have both been restored to 100%! All negative status effects and physical ailments have been cured.
"Perce, dude, you need to wake up like now dude! We way overslept, we barely have any time to get to Mrs. Dodds' class." Grover's panicking voice floated into Percy's ears as he groggily got up from his sleep. Percy was glad for the game system, because after fighting all those dang monsters the day before and following after Grover until 3 AM, he felt fully rested.
Shaking himself awake, he noticed the clock was already at 8:50. Shoot, Mrs. Dodds class starts at 9 AM, and if he was late that witch wouldn't hesitate to punish him, maybe even making it so he couldn't go on the field trip Thursday. There was no way he was giving up on the chance to skip school work in the last week of school, even if they were just going to a museum.
Rushing out of bed, Percy quickly opened his dresser and started grabbing clothes that at least somewhat matched. Knowing he had no time to develop a fashion sense, he quickly got dressed and rushed into the bathroom. Brushing his teeth as quick as possible, he ran over to his backpack, making sure he had everything that he needed.
Glancing back at the clock, he noticed it was only at 8:53, so he still barely had time to get there.
"Let's go G-man, no time for makeup or enchiladas, don't want to be killed by Mrs. Dodds."
Paling, Grover responded, "Y-yeah, c-coming Perce." Jeez, she wouldn't actually kill them, though seeing her last night he could understand, Still, at most a detention or missing the field trip was awaiting them, but Percy still didn't want to risk it.
"Ready, let's get to class Perce! On the double!" Grover yelped as he rushed past Percy on his crutches.

Taking their seats, Percy went about bringing his notebooks out of his backpack before he noticed a shadow covering him. Looking up, he saw the sneering face of Mrs. Dodds.
"Jackson, just about late again, I see. You're lucky you got in that door on time, why I was just in the process of writing up a recommendation to the principle to expel you. Now since you are here, perhaps you would be willing to hand me your homework? That is, if you have your homework." Why was Mrs. Dodds so evil? Percy realized that he wasn't the best student, but she just seemed to relish taking in any opportunity to mess with him in some way.
"Yes Mrs. Dodds, I do. Here you are, on time homework this time as well!" Percy held the homework out to Mrs. Dodds, who snap the proffered paper out of his hands.
"Confident aren't you? If you are so confident, surely you wouldn't mind if I graded it right now?" She sneered. Pulling out a red pen, she started scanning through the homework, getting progressively angrier as she went. When she was finally finished, she slammed the sheet down on his desk and glowered at him.
"I know you cheated Jackson, there is no way that you could have gotten good enough at math to get a perfect score, even if it is on your homework. Perhaps the principal should hear of this, maybe then you will finally be expelled."
"No ma'am, I worked real hard on this yesterday in the library, I even got a tutor to help me on the concepts so I could do it right!"
"Lies, then your tutor did it for you!"
"Mrs. Dodds, I helped Percy yesterday. I can say for sure that he did the work himself, I only helped guide him through the concepts." Nancy piped up.
"Oh, err, fine! You got lucky this time Jackson, but I got my eye on you." Mrs. Dodds spat as she stomped away to begin her lecture. Percy looked over to Nancy, and flashed her a grateful smile, which she smiled shyly back to. Looking over to Grover, he was absolutely slack jawed not only at the fact that Percy actually did his homework in math and got a perfect score, but that he somehow got Nancy Bobofit of all people to help him!
"Dude, how did you do that!" Grover whispered.
"Do what?" Percy replied.
"You know what I am talking about! How the hell did you get Nancy freaking Bobofit to help you on your math homework!"
"Oh, that, I just asked her. She actually is really nice if you just talk to her, and she is very smart. I probably wouldn't have even passed that homework without her. Now quiet down, dude, I have to pay attention." Percy responded as he looked back towards Mrs. Dodds, going back to taking his notes.
All Grover could do was stare at Percy, what was going on! First Percy does good in math, then BEFRIENDS Nancy Bobofit, and now is paying attention in class! The world must be ending.
"MR. UNDERWOOD! Can you please look forward and pay attention in class unless you would like to spend another detention with me?" Mrs. Dodds glowered.
Grover yelped and resumed taking notes. Percy glanced at him from the corner of his view and smiled. You aren't the only one keeping secrets, now, Grover.
Turning his attention back to Mrs. Dodds, he listened as best as he could to her droning on about partial fractions and theorems.
Ping!
For paying attention in math class and understanding most of what Mrs. Dodds was talking about, you have gained +1 INT!
It was a good feeling to actually learn something in class for once, ever since he started training his English skill he was able to understand more of what his classes were teaching him, and he could almost feel himself getting smarter.
Speaking of training skills, Percy decided that this would be the perfect time to train his observe skill by scanning everyone in the room. Smiling to himself, Percy activated observe and started scanning his fellow students, learning some interesting tidbits about their lives and what they thought of him, but nothing that really caught his eye. Apparently a lot more people here were friendlier with him than he thought.
"Mr. Jackson, I assume that you were listening when I was describing your homework? If not, I would be glad to not explain myself again, you'll just have to ask one of your classmates." Mrs. Dodds sneered at him. My goodness, what was with her, why did she seem to hate him so much? Percy used observe on her and was in the shock for his life.
Alecto (Mrs. Dodds)
Title: Punisher of Moral Crimes
Race: Fury
LVL: ?
HP: ?
MP: ?
Alecto is the immortal punisher of the moral crimes of humans, such as anger and coveting, and is charged with overseeing the fields of punishment. Alecto hates Percy as she thinks he is a spawn of ? or ?, and believes his existence is an affront to her master.
Percy's eyes bugged out of his head before gamer's mind quickly clamped down on his growing thoughts of despair. He always knew that Mrs. Dodds hated him, but it is a whole new level of terrifying to find out that the person who hates him she is an actual immortal that punishes people in what Percy assumes is hell. Why, who did he piss off to get someone like this on his case!
"Well boy, answer me!" snarled Mrs Dodds, err, Alecto.
"Umm, uh, ye-yeah, I got it!" Percy stammered out.
"Hrmph. just remember I'm watching you, Jackson." Alecto stated as she marched out of the classroom.
"C'mon Perce, I'll give you a copy of the homework on the way to Mr. Brunner's class." Grover said as he pulled Percy out of the room and to his next class.
"Uh, yeah, thanks G-man."
Walking into Mr. Brunner's class, Percy knew he was running out of time to figure out his heritage, things just seemed to be moving so quickly and he could not wait any longer. Taking his seat, he prepared for the longest Latin class of his life.
"Hey G-man, I'll catch up with you later, I'm headed to the library." Percy called to Grover as he was exiting Mr. Brunner's class.
"Sure thing Perce!" Grover called back as he started marching to the cafeteria, muttering something about enchilada day. That dude could pack 'em down.
Rushing across campus to the library, Percy entered to find it deserted. Perk of coming during the lunch shift. Walking over to a secluded section of the library, he sat down at a computer and powered it on. Pulling up a search engine, he decided to go off one of the biggest leads he had as of yet, Hecate.
Typing it in pulled up a very interesting result. Hecate, Greek Goddess of Magic. Greek. Were the Greek gods real, that couldn't be! But the game system doesn't lie, or seems like it doesn't, and his observe specifically called out that Dominic was a son of Hecate. Percy could possibly think he was a son in the sense of a cultist and not biologically if not for the fact that observe also stated that he stole an item created by his mother.
Shaking his head, he typed in Chiron. First results were for the film Hercules by Disney, but going further he found that Chiron was a Greek Centaur trainer of heroes that trained countless famous Greek heroes, which was also consistent with what observe told him about Mr. Brunner. Typing in Satyr, he found that they were associated with the Greek God of Wine, Dionysus, and were half man half goat, specifically half goat on the legs. Is that why Grover always made sure to wear long baggy pants, even when it is hot out? And that little beanie, goats have horns, right?
A small sense of dread filled him as he pulled up the results for Alecto. She sure was a punisher all right, punisher of Hades, not hell, who is the leader of the three Furies. The supposed right hand of the lord of the underworld, Hades, who she also apparently castrated after the Trojan War as well.
Ok, so four for four on the Greek myths, so that means that the Greek gods are, apparently, real. It would certainly explain all the absolutely ludicrous stuff he has seen lately, and the weird things in his life that keep happening around him. So if the Greek gods are real, then could he also be related to the myths? After all his race is still a secret to him, and he can do things normal people cannot such as water manipulation. Wait, water manipulation! Who is the Greek god that had control over water?
Thinking hard, he knew it wasn't a minor god as the literal right hand of Hades wouldn't be here to eat his lunch, so it narrowed it down to stronger gods. He couldn't really think of anyone bigger than the Olympians, and there was only one Olympian that could control water. Percy could only come up with one conclusion as to who his father is, it would explain why he could do these things and why he always loved the sea so much. Duh, his mom even said his dad was lost at sea!
His father had to be the Greek God of the Seas, Poseidon.

Special Skill! (Click for Choice)
Oh god that confirmed it, or is it gods since apparently the Greek gods are real? Why does weird stuff always have to revolve around him? So he really wasn't a human after all, he is one of those demigods like Hercules or Achilles or Perseus, who Percy just realized he was probably named after. So his dad was a god, and not just any god but the God of the Seas. It certainly explained why he always felt at home when he visited Montauk, or really whenever he was near the sea, and apparently why he could control water.
Thinking about his father more, Percy got angrier as he realized his father was actually alive. He had never visited, he had never sent anything to him, he just left mom after impregnating her and never gave one look back. What a piece of work, what were they not good enough for him, the mighty God of the Sea can't be seen with his disappointing half human son and human lover!
Percy shook his head, it wouldn't do to think on this. If Poseidon wanted to be a deadbeat than Percy will treat him just like how he is to him now if he ever meets him: a total stranger. Clearing his mind, he noticed that with the quest completion he had leveled up and received some pretty great rewards! Looking at his new stats he saw that both HP and MP had increased by 100 now instead of the usual 50. Does the gaming system change the amount of reward based on how leveled you were? It would make sense, reward the player for doing better by giving heavier boosts to stats.
Looking at his attributes also made Percy realize that he only needed 4 more points in LUC to get 10 points in all attributes, meaning he was so close to reaching his deadline of 1 week for the other quest he had going on! Sweet! He decided to not use any of his attribute points yet and see if he could grind out his LUC stat a bit, maybe he could convince a few people to play some cards or something?
Looking at his other rewards, he clicks on the special weapon reward he got for finishing his family tree. A new prompt screen appears with two options.
Harpe of Perseus
Used by Perseus to slay Medusa, it is a mix between a sickle and a sword that is able to easily catch an opponent's sword or behead an opponent. It is made of celestial bronze.
DMG: 100 Damage
Special Effect: +100 DMG to Gorgons, +50 DMG to monsters
Hmm, so basically a sword with a hook coming out on one side. Might be useful, but he does already have a sword that works well enough at the moment, so he looked at the other option.
Bow and Quiver of Odysseus
Odysseus' bow that he used to slay the suitors coming for his country and wife, it is a Yew bow that is very accurate in the right hands.
DMG: 120
Quiver: 25 Arrows
Special Effect: +10% to accuracy
Woah, was this the actual bow used by Odysseus? How was this thing still around, and how is the gaming system just able to give it to him. Out of the two options presented, the bow would definitely be the best choice. He already had a sword, and a bow would give him the option of long-range attacks.
Clicking the bow, a weight fell into his hands out of thin air, with the bow magically appearing in his hands. It was a beautifully crafted bow, polished to a light wood color with dark brown leather wrapping and capped at the ends with what looked to be horns of an animal. After admiring the craftsmanship of the bow, he put it away in his inventory just in case anyone came around and saw him holding a weapon.
Turning his attention onto the other prompt, Percy clicked it to find a similar screen to the one he was just on, however it had four options instead of just two. It seemed like all of the options on this screen were for skills, and like the last time he had to choose one.
Photographic Memory
Photo Album! Make your mind a library and remember every minute detail you see. Automatically MAX LVL.
Shadow Manipulation
Agent of the shadows! Bend shadows to your will and use them to create constructs or to meld into them. Melding into shadows provides a + 50% boost to sneaking, and provides other abilities. (Cost: 100 MP/min)
Call of the Wild
Critters Assemble! Summon nearby creatures to assist you in your fight, from bunnies and squirrels to bears and wolves. (Cost: 80 MP/use)
Charmspeak
Silver Tongued Man! Exert your will upon another through the use of charmspeak, and get them to do whatever you want! Limit to +20 LVL over your level. (Cost: 50 MP | Chance of Success: 35%)
These were pretty good skills to have, though some obviously better than others. Photographic memory would be nice but he wasn't sure how much use it would be to him. Call of the wild would also be cool, summoning packs of wolves and bears to his aid, but he probably wouldn't always be in the woods and it wouldn't be too helpful to only summon small animals in the city.
That realistically left two options, and they were tough to choose between. Shadow manipulation would be immensely useful in a fight, being able to use shadows to attack your opponent, even their own. However the cost is very large at the moment, he would most likely have to train it hard to get it to a point where it wouldn't affect his MP so harshly.
Charmspeak could also be immensely useful depending on who he could use it on. If he grinded it out he could easily make it so that enemies fight each other, get access to places, and so many other uses.
This was a tough decision, but Percy ultimately decided that he needed to go with Shadow Manipulation. Charmspeak would be really cool to have, but being able to use the shadows to his advantage would be immensely useful in a fight. Clicking Shadow Manipulation, Percy felt a rush of power and knowledge as he learned the basics of using the shadows.

Satisfied, Percy decided he needed to do some training, both in attributes and powers. Until the school field trip on Thursday, Percy wanted to train his newly acquired shadow manipulation, water manipulation, observe, English, and his attributes. Grabbing a pen and piece of paper, he wrote up a training regimen for each day until Thursday.
Monday: Modern English, Running, Observe, VIT, INT, WIS, Shadow Manipulation
Tuesday: STR, DEX, VIT, Acrobatics, Observe, Water Manipulation, get familiar with his bow
Wednesday: LUC, CHA, Water Manipulation, Shadow Manipulation
Nodding to himself, Percy set out to start training all of his skills as quick as he could.
After grinding out his schedule in the library and testing out his new shadow powers, Percy was absolutely beat. Checking his new stats though put a good smile on his face, as he had managed to make quite a bit of progress today.

He had gotten quite a few of his stats and skills leveled, though he hadn't managed to level shadow manipulation much or even level observe. Shadow manipulation felt super weird at first, link an inky sludge that he was trying to pull up with his hands but constantly slipped through his fingers. As he practiced more, however, he was finally able to get a handle on it, even though it exhausted his MP just to do that.
Crashing into his bed, Percy prepared for even more training tomorrow.
Stumbling into his room, Percy was absolutely sore all over his body. Why does strength training hurt so much? It was now Tuesday, and Percy had stuck to his schedule to train his abilities and he was slightly regretting it at this point. No matter, the rewards had certainly paid off today, as he now is much higher in his stats. He even managed to learn a whole new skill, Archery, when he was messing around with his new bow!

Of course when he said he managed to learn Archery, he really meant that he managed to learn he was absolutely awful at it. Still, if he kept it up he would actually start hitting something! Now he at least knew he really needed to grind out the skill. Settling into bed, Percy almost immediately slipped into a nice dreamless sleep.
As Percy walked back to his dorm, he reflected on all that he had done over the week and how far he had come. He had finally figured out his heritage, he knew that two of his teachers and best friend were mythological beings, and trained his butt off to make himself stronger just in case one of said teachers decided to kill him. He had trained his stats up to a fairly good degree now, and was confident he would at least have a fighting chance if something came along to eat his lunch.
He had found that a lot of students did in fact play cards, and were happy to attempt to sucker him out of any of his money that he had earned over the week. It turns out that he was pretty good at Poker since he watched Gabe and his friends play it all the time, and managed to swindle $500 out of the student body before everyone decided they didn't want to play him any more in fear of losing any more. He even picked up some new games like Texas Hold 'em, Pinochle, Euchre, and Rummy.
Looking at the stats he leveled up, he was quite happy with the results.

Happy that he has progressed so much, he shimmied into bed. He was happy that Thursday would be the last day of school, as Yancy had decided to give the students the day off on Friday since they probably wouldn't be doing anything anyways. Percy's grades remained the same terrible D's, however, after all he couldn't stage an epic comeback in grades in less than a week. He was just glad that it was only middle school, after all colleges only look at high school and if Percy was able to pick up his education before then he may be able to actually go to a college.
He was definitely ready to just do nothing tomorrow, however the field trip to the museum left him with some trepidation. Mrs. Dodds, or rather Alecto, was becoming more unhinged around him lately. She would snap at anything he did and seemed to be out to get him even more than usual, watching his every move both in and out of class. Percy was worried that she might have caught on to him being aware of her, and if that was the case he might be in trouble. She was going to be the only other teacher present on the museum field trip, and that thought scared him because now the only adults that will be there will be mythological beings.
Hoping that he could at least survive tomorrow and just get home, Percy went off to sleep.
It may surprise you to find out that Percy did in fact like museums. He was always a little bit interested in history, but mainly visual history of stuff he could see before him. Now that he could actually read, however, Percy couldn't wait to see the exhibits and now actually learn what they entailed.
Walking into one of the main rooms of the museum with the rest of the class, Percy could see what looked to be a bunch of pots lining the walls beneath heavy glass. Studying a jar with Grover that looked to have a scene of two people standing on a cliff as one fires an arrow into the head of someone in the water, Percy looked to the description on the placard. Apparently this was the Goddess Artemis killing Orion after Apollo challenged her, after which his mother Gaia placed his body into the stars.
Looking to another pithos, he got an idea to rib Grover and Mr. Brunner. "Mr. Brunner, can you tell me what this jar is showing?" Percy called.
Mr. Brunner came wheeling over, when a smile popped up on his face. "Ah yes, this pithos shows a satyr conversing with Chiron." It seemed that Mr. Brunner was terribly amused by this, as well as Grover.
Percy smiled as he asked "Oh, Satyrs are like half man half sheep right? And Chiron was the ferryman of the underworld?"
The look of indignation on Grover's face was priceless, but he couldn't say anything to blow his cover and Percy knew it. Mr. Brunner looked flabbergasted at the idea that he was being confused for the Charon, the ferryman of the underworld.
Mr. Brunner looked to Grover as he said "Uhhh, no, no Perseus that isn't quite right. Satyr's are half goat not, uh, half sheep. And Chiron is most certainly not the ferryman of the underworld, that would be Charon. Chiron is the historical centaur trainer of heroes, trainer of those heroes such as Perseus and Hercules."
"Oh, but in the Disney movie wasn't Hercules trained by one of those satyr's? I'm pretty sure they were right about that part, so Chiron couldn't have trained him."
That got Mr. Brunner to look indignant, as he corrected Percy through slightly gritted teeth. "No Mr. Jackson, that is not right. Disney may have made Hercules the film but they were woefully wrong about the trainer, as it was Chiron the Centaur, not a satyr, that trained Hercules."
"Oh, my mistake Mr. Brunner. Thank you!" Percy said, smiling at both Mr. Brunner and Grover.
Looking at each other, Mr. Brunner looked back and said, "Right, well anyways class, perhaps we should go ahead and break for lunch, yes? I am sure you are all hungry so let us go out onto the steps to eat, as the museum was pretty adamant you not bring your lunches inside."
The class murmured as they filed outside to get onto the bus and retrieve their lunches. Grabbing his, Percy sat down on the steps of the museum building with Grover. Watching as his friend pulled out a large bag of apples and promptly started eating them, core and all, he shook his head as he went to eating his own sandwich.
"Hey Percy, how're you doing?" Nancy shouted as she walked up to him. Nancy had certainly become a lot nicer over the week, and they both had become friends. She had dropped her bullying habits as she hung around Percy and saw how he interacted with people, and she had become a lot more popular as a result. It was nice seeing the poor girl finally start to fit in and get attention through better means then picking on others or causing trouble.
"Oh hey Nancy, just digging in. What did you bring over for lunch?" He asked.
"Oh, I got a tuna fish sandwich. They aren't really my favorite, but it's edible so I can't complain." Pulling out her sandwich, the wrapping suddenly opened up and the sandwich tumbled to the ground, splattering in a mess of tuna fish. Guess that kind of justifies the museum not wanting the students to eat inside.
"Oh damn, that was my only food and I got no money to buy anything else today!" Poor Nancy. As he was about to open his mouth, a shrill voice reached his ears.
"Jackson, I saw that! How dare you! Come with me, it is high time this type of behavior stops!" Mrs. Dodds yelled as she came up to our group.
"But Mrs. Dodds…" Grover tried before being cut off by the angry teacher.
"Enough out of you Mr. Underwood, you and Jackson have caused far too much trouble. I will get to you later."
"Mrs. Dodds Percy didn't do anything, I swear. I was pulling out my sandwich and it dropped to the ground." Nancy tried defending Percy.
"Enough, come with me Jackson!" Mrs. Dodds marched away towards the museum. Great, being blamed for something that was no ones fault and now I was going to be one on one with a mythological creature that he knew hated him. Turning to Nancy he gave her $15 to buy a new lunch. He was still her friend after all, and now had plenty of money thanks to quests.
$: 12363 – 15 = 12,348
"Here Nancy get yourself something to eat. I gotta go!"
"But Percy I can't accept this!"
"It's fine, no biggie. Catch you later!" He called to her as he jogged after Mrs. Dodds. He just knew she was going to be enjoying this, especially since she had to make up an excuse to get him in the first place, he grumbled.
Before he entered the museum, however, he heard Mr. Brunner call his name.
"Perseus, unfortunate to get in trouble again. Take this, it may be of help to you later." Mr. Brunner said with a knowing smile as he handed Percy what seemed to be a regular ball point pen.
"Uh, thanks I guess. Look Mr. Brunner, I need to go before she decides to give me more of a punishment for keeping her waiting." Percy took the proffered pen and pocketed it before taking off into the museum to hopefully catch up with Mrs. Dodds before she has an aneurysm.
Walking into the pithos room, he looked around for his teacher but couldn't find her. Where had that woman gone, he was only a couple of seconds behind her!
"Jackson! Did you think you could fool us, that we would be tricked so easily? Where are you hiding it, I know you stole it!" Looking up, Percy saw Mrs. Dodds standing on the shoulder of a large statue situated in the room. Now he had no clue how she possibly managed to get up there, and had even less of an idea about what she was talking about, but he figured it all spelled out that things were finally coming to a head.
"Mrs. Dodds, what are you doing up there? You really shouldn't be climbing on the artifacts, aren't you supposed to keep us from doing that? And what are you talking about, I didn't steal anything!"
She snarled, "Don't play games with me boy I know you have it. Where is it? Give the bolt to me now and your death may be quick!"
Ok that was worrying, so she does indeed want to kill him, and apparently is dead set on doing so. "Death, what are you talking about! I have no clue what is going on, but I'm not going to stand here and be called a thief and have my life threatened!"

That was the wrong thing to say, she seemed to get a lot happier when he said that, most likely rejoicing in the thought of killing him. Looks like a confrontation is on, and judging by the new quest there was absolutely no possible way to avoid it. Clicking accept, he mentally prepared himself for the coming fight.
"Very well, boy, death it is!" As she said that, it was like his eyes suddenly became clearer. Her form shimmered and rippled, and suddenly two bat-like wings shot out from her back, and her features took on a more haggard and demonic look. Small snakes shot out of her brown hair, hissing at nothing in particular. Terrifying! She swooped down from her perch and came to strike him down, Percy barely managed to pull out his wooden shield to protect himself as her claws raked along it's center.
That was close, looks like he didn't have much of a choice but to fight for his life now. Pulling out his iron sword, he got into a ready position and waited for her to come back around. She swooped back down, banking to the right as she tried to get around his shield but her claws only met his sword as he blocked her strike. Stabbing towards her before she could pull away, he was shocked to find his sword phase right through her body and do no damage.
She smirked, and before he could fully retract his sword arm she raked her claws along it.
Percy HP: 450 – 100 = 350/450
"Aargh!" Percy exclaimed, seeing rivulets of blood flowing down his arm. 100 damage, and after only one strike! This was going to be a tough fight, and evidently his damn sword would be useless for everything except blocking! Focusing on Alecto as she flew away, he used observe to see just what he was up against.

Alecto is the immortal punisher of the moral crimes of humans, such as anger and coveting, and is charged with overseeing the fields of punishment. Alecto hates Percy and believes he has stolen the thunderbolt of Zeus and the Helm of Darkness from her master, Hades. She mainly uses her claws in attacks.
UH-OH. She was seriously way more powerful than him, her strength stat alone was greater than all of his physical stats combined! Her HP was even greater than Brthanz's, too!
Wait, Brthanz! Percy remembered he had received the Eye of Hecate for killing Dominic, that would be the perfect use for it right now! Pulling out the Eye, he attempted to summon Brthanz to help him out.

Wait why didn't he do this before, this would have at least evened the playing field a little bit! Shaking his head at his stupidity, he summoned Brthanz using the Eye. A small black vortex appeared in front of him as the massive golem of Brthanz coalesced out of bones. Finally, Brthanz was fully formed, and he turned to Percy with an expectant stare.

A massive golem created through the art of necromancy, Brthanz is a difficult foe that relies on powerful attacks. Brthanz is loyal to Percy due to him being his summoner. Brthanz prefers the use of a heavy broadsword.
Oh, that's right. He was hoping he would have the same Brthanz he fought against, but he remembered the limitation of the Eye in that it would only allow for 1.5x his level concerning his summoned allies.
Sighing, he looked to Brthanz and issued his orders. "Stall her, I need to figure out a way to actually hurt her myself."
Nodding, Brthanz turned towards Alecto and pulled out his sword to fight. Rushing towards Alecto, he sent a heavy overhead strike towards her which she deftly evaded.
"What is this, this is impossible!" Noticing the ring on Percy's finger, she recognized it as the one that Hecate had noticed had gone missing a few weeks ago. "I knew it, you are a damn thief! You must have the bolt and helm! I will flay your body and cast you into Tarturus for stealing from the denizens of the underworld!" She screeched as she flew towards Brthanz, raking her claws along his chest.
Great, now he was even angrier and he still hadn't managed to do any damage to her. Thinking, he was going over his inventory as he though of anything he could use to fight her. "I can barely use the Odysseus' bow at the moment, that would be more of a hindrance than help at the moment. I need to keep my water bottles as a trump card, shadow manipulation is too far out of reach at the moment."
Percy was getting worried until he spotted a new item in his inventory he did not recognize. Anaklusmos. The pen, why did it have a special name? Was Mr. Brunner one of those people that named his stationary?
Pulling the pen out of his inventory, he studied it. It looked just like a normal pen, what was the big deal? Using observe on the object, however, yielded some very surprising results.
Anaklusmos
Sword imbued with the power of the sea from one of the hesperides, ?, Anaklusmos was the weapon wielded by Hercules throughout the end of his life. Due to being made out of Celestial Bronze, the blade is able to injure monsters, demigods, gods, and titans. Uncapping the pen forms the blade, and it will always return to the chosen wielder's pocket.
DMG: 100
Special Effect: +50 DMG to monsters, gods, and titans
What, this thing was a sword, and it can hurt monsters? That must be why his iron sword phased through Alecto, only Celestial Bronze is able to harm mythological creatures!
Uncapping the sword, the pen turned into a brilliant bronze, leaf shaped blade that looked wicked sharp. Feeling it in his hands, Percy felt like the sword was an extension of himself, and felt more powerful being in contact with it. It must be since the sword had the power of the sea, it must resonate with him somehow. Either way, the one thing that mattered to Percy was that he could finally fight.
Rushing into the fight, he deflected a blow from Alecto aimed for Brthanz' exposed neck, which surely would have injured him a great deal.
"Brthanz, we need to work together on this. Unfortunately she is much to quick for your attacks, however if we can funnel her into certain directions with your attacks I may be able to get in strikes on her as she is dodging!"
Nodding his head, Brthanz and Percy enacted their plan as Alecto was coming in for another strafing run. As she came in Brthanz swung his sword in an overhead strike that was slightly to her right, forcing her to bank towards the left to avoid it. As she did so, however, Percy was there to greet her with a strike across the chest.
Critical Strike!
DMG: 100 + 50 = 150 x (350 + 20) % = - 555 HP
Alecto HP: 20,000 – 555 = 19,445/20,000
Great, that barely did anything, even with a critical strike! Just how far out of his league was she? Alecto screeched in anger as she quickly withdrew, flying up to make another run against Percy and Brthanz. Brthanz attempted the same maneuver, however instead of dodging to either side, she quickly ascended, barely avoiding his strike. She then quickly dashed forward and sliced at his cheek, leaving a gash as she successfully scored another hit.
She was insanely adaptive, after a single strike from a maneuver, she changed her avenue of attack to something neither of them anticipated. Percy needed to be careful now, this was a different class of enemy. Alecto quickly swooped down and flew towards Percy, and he saw that Brthanz was swinging his sword after her.
Knowing that she would duck under the swing to attempt to hit him, he rushed forward and then dove into a slide along the ground. As he predicted, Alecto flew under Brthanz' strike and attempted to reach out to where he was before. Sliding under her, he swung his sword upward, bisecting her wing and cutting it clean off of her body.
Alecto HP: 19,445 – 2000 = 17,445/20,000
Bleeding damage inflicted! -10 HP/sec
Alecto screeched in pain as she tumbled away from Percy, crashing into the wall. Brthanz was quickly upon her, swinging his sword and catching her as she attempted to uselessly fly away.
Alecto HP: 17,445 – 2000 = 15,425/20,000
Now she was pissed, but she no longer could perform those damn strafing maneuvers that were so difficult to defend against. Now she had to do hand to hand combat, though, and that should be a lot easier to defend against. He then charged towards her in an attempt to strike her before she could recover.
Unfortunately for him, it didn't seem that Alecto only relied on her claws. He realized this too late as he was charging towards her, seeing her summon a whip that seemed to be made out of fire and bone. Bracing himself, he felt the searing pain of the whip as Alecto cracked it against him, flinging him away from her and into one of the walls of the room.
Percy HP: 3000 – 500 – 50 Fire DMG = 2,450/3000
Ow, he needed to remember that he wasn't hot stuff at the moment. He couldn't take strikes like that willy nilly, especially since it seemed that Alecto was now taking the fight much more seriously. Brthanz charged Alecto in an attempt to avenge his master, but was quickly evaded and slashed by Alecto's whip.
Percy needed an advantage, and as he looked around he noticed the sprinkler system on the ceiling of the room. However, before he could reach out to control the water, Alecto's whip came flying past him, scorching the wall as he rolled out of the way. He signaled Brthanz to rush her from behind as he approached from the front.
Alecto cracked her whip as Percy deftly deflected it towards the ground next to him, advancing on her as he tried to keep her attention on him.
"Mrs. Dodds, I didn't realize you were so ugly. I mean no wonder there isn't a Mr. Dodds if that's what you go home looking like." He taunted in an attempt to keep her focus on him.

That pissed her off, seems like I may have struck a sensitive spot. "You insolent little demigod, I will have you in chains to be tortured eternally!" She snarled, focusing her full attention on him as she attempted to hit him with her whip.
Unfortunately for her, fully focusing on Percy is the last thing she should have done as Brthanz started to charge her. Percy dived to the side as Alecto was smashed into by Brthanz, crashing both of them into a pithos and having an oily liquid splash everywhere. As her whip touched the liquid, however, a great fire erupted around the both of them, burning the two in a sick show of green flames. Curious, Percy used observe.
Greek Fire
A deadly mixture of oils that will burn until used up, no matter if water is used in an attempt to put it out.
DMG: 200 HP/Sec
Unfortunately for Percy, as much as Alecto was being injured, so was Brthanz. As Alecto stumbled out of the flames as the oils slowly were burned off of her body, Brthanz was not so lucky.
Alecto HP: 15,225 – 8,000 = 7,225/20,000
Brthanz HP: 5,000 – 8,000 = 0/7,500
Brthanz reached up with his hand, but started to dissolve into darkness and a pile of bones until he was nothing but dust. That is definitely unfortunate for Percy, and most likely not a good way to go he lamented.
However, now Alecto was seriously injured, so he may be able to win the fight without Brthanz. Suddenly, the sprinkler system kicked on to put out the fire, raining water down upon Percy and Alecto. This was fortunate for Percy as he realized he now didn't have to waste time in summoning the water.

And now he is revitalized, too! The playing field even, Percy charged towards the dazed Alecto, swinging his sword in an upward arc. Alecto jumped back, scrambling for her weapon to defend herself before realizing it was too far out of her reach. She raised her claws a fraction too late, as Percy was able to score a hit across her arm twice.
Alecto HP: 7,225 – (350 + 20%) = 6,855/20,000
Pressing her and not giving her time to recover, Percy kept up his assault. Alecto, however, showed her experience as she started to block every strike Percy sent towards her. Dancing through the flames and water raining down the room, Percy swung his sword through the water collecting on the ground and splashed it into Alecto's eyes.
Quickly redirecting his strike across her chest, he was rewarded with a good hit that struck her deeply across her collarbone.

Alecto reacted quickly, however. As Percy was following through with his swing, she gritted her teeth through the pain and lashed out with her claws, striking him ten times across the chest before he stumbled back.
Percy HP: 3,000 – 100 x 10 = 2,000/3,000
Keeping up her advantage, Alecto pressed forward as Percy swung his sword left and right in an attempt to block her claws. Ducking under a strike from Percy, Alecto swung her leg and swept Percy's legs out from him. As soon as she did so, he rolled to the right, then to the left as he avoided her quick strikes attempting to capitalize on her move. Kicking his legs out and upwards as she came in for a third strike, Percy launched her off of him and put space between the both of them.
As Alecto stumbled across the water, Percy reached out with his hand and commanded the water to form spikes to pierce Alecto. The water gladly responded, quickly striking her with a eight spikes and sending her stumbling back.
DMG: 210 x 8 = - 1680 HP
Alecto HP: 6,300 – 1,680 = 4,620/20,000
Percy MP: 2,500 – (95 x 8) = 1,740 MP
Alecto looked surprised, before grinning as they circled each other, wading through the ankle level water and fire. Alecto stalked to the left in a circle, as Percy matched her movements to the right as he held Anaklusmos out towards her, ready to defend or attack.
"So, I was right indeed. You are the son of that damnable sea god. Does he have no sensibility? My master indeed is the only one who had kept to the pact then, hmm? Tell me demigod, when did your father instruct you to steal my masters helm and Zeus' bolt?" Alecto asked as she studied percy.
"Yes you were, I am indeed his son, though frankly I never had been contacted by the man. I only learned of my heritage this week, and it was a little bit unfortunate finding out. I swear I haven't stolen anything from anyone, neither on my own or acting on another's orders." Percy responded.
"Still you lie, why? You are in possession of the Eye of Hecate, which she had notified me to be on the lookout for as it had been stolen. At the same time, both Hades' helm and Zeus' bolt had been stolen. Who would benefit the most from such an action? Your father of course. He now is the only one of the big three currently in possession of his symbol of power, giving him an advantage over both brothers." She studied him, shaking her head as she said, "And now he has a son, a direct violation of the pact. You must admit these are most suspicious circumstances."
"I will reiterate, I have had no involvement in whatever you are accusing me of. I have NEVER had contact with my old man. He left my mother and I to fend for ourselves, forcing her to work her ass off to make ends meet while she had to marry a walrus of a man that does nothing all day. She has paid dearly for my father's actions, giving up her dreams. Why would I help him in any scheme, or whatever this is?"
"For his approval, love, whatever you want to call it. So many demigods are willing to do so much for their parents, I would have been surprised if you said no." She then grinned evilly. "Unfortunately for you, you decided to carry out his orders, and for that I must kill you. Poor demigod, so blinded by his need for acceptance from his godly parent, unknowingly sacrificed as a sheep to the slaughter."
Percy then noticed Alecto tense slightly, the time for talking was over. Deciding to take the initiative, Percy leapt forward through the water, controlling it to form bonds around her ankles to prevent her from moving. Striking her across the arms, Percy leaned back as she attempted to strike him in retaliation.
He swung his sword up as she did so, severing her arm at the elbow.
Alecto HP: 4,620 – 2500 = 2,120/20,000
"Ahhh. Damn you boy!" She snapped, cradling her arm. She broke free of her bonds suddenly, bringing her other claw to bare as she struck him on the left side of his neck.
Critical Strike!
Percy HP: 2,000 – 1,500 = 500/3,000
"Ahhhrgh!" He stumbled back, holding a hand to the side of his neck. He needed to end this now, one more unlucky strike and he was done for. Doing so was much easier said than done, however, as Alecto started to press the offensive. Striking repeatedly and giving him no room to relax, Percy was forced to block and backpedal until he tripped over a piece of the broken pithos.
Falling on his back, he barely had any time to bring his sword up to bear before Alecto was on him, striking towards his head with her only remaining arm. He attempted another slash to remove the other arm, but Alecto twisted her body so that her severed arm would take the brunt of the attack.
Alecto HP: 2,120 – 700 = 1,420/20,000
Grunting, she then immediately swung her good arm towards his sword hand, knocking Anaklusmos across the room and embedding it into the wall. She then immediately swung her arm back through, clawing his chest.
Percy HP: 500 – 200 = 300/3,000
"Any last words before you die boy, maybe about the location of the items I am searching for." Grabbing his neck and forcing him to look at her, she asked "Where are they, tell me now or you will face tortures incomprehensible in the underworld."
Percy rapidly thought of a possible way out of this scenario, but there wasn't much he could do. His sword was in the wall, his iron sword was useless, and Brthanz was gone.
"No? Then die in agony, I will be seeing you in the underworld boy." She leaned over him, ready to cast the final strike. "I do have to commend you, though. You put up a much better fight than I was expecting. It is a shame you were involved in all of this."
As she raised her claw, Percy focused on the water around him, but felt an odd feeling coming from Alecto. Sluggish, thick, it felt almost like the water he had controlled before but was more, alive. Reaching out, he grabbed ahold of it with his powers.

Alecto froze up, and started shaking as if fighting against an invisible force. Forget Shadow Manipulation, this was the hardest skill he had ever used. It felt like trying to tie down a moving animal, it was actively fighting against him in what he assumed was Alecto trying to break his control and move.
He needed to do something quick before it used up all of his mana, however. Closing his eyes and feeling another tug in his gut, a flash of water screamed out in front of him and he heard Alecto gasp in pain.
Alecto HP: 1,420 – 1,500 = 0/20,000
Percy MP: 1,740 MP – 200 MP – (95 x 3) = 1,255/3,000
Opening his eyes, he saw the shocked face of Alecto, her claw still raised in the air and ready to kill Percy. Protruding from her chest were three spikes of water, directly through her heart.

She looked down in shock and coughed up blood, falling over into the puddle of water in the room. Percy shakily stood up, watching her as she started to flake away in golden powder.
"You may have won this time, young hero, but I will come back and finish the job later. Until the helm is returned, I will hunt you to the ends of the earth." She rasped out, before finally succumbing to her wounds and dissolving into golden dust.

+Claw of Alecto
Signing in relief, Percy picked up the Claw of Alecto and studied it.
Claw of Alecto
The claw of the Fury, Alecto. Imbued with the fires of the underworld, the claw is able to inflict burns upon those it strikes!
Sighing, he placed the claw in his inventory. Looking around at the destruction, he was happy that they only managed to destroy one of the pithos, after all it would be a shame if the artifacts were destroyed.
Looking to the wall where Anaklusmos was flung, he only saw a hole. He started to panic, before suddenly feeling a weight in his pocket. When he pulled it out, his ballpoint pen, Anaklusmos, was sitting in his hand, ready for use.
Placing it back into his pocket, he decided he needed to get out of here before he received the blame for all of this destruction. Rushing out of the museum, he caught up with his class as they were boarding the bus to go back to Yancy.
"Mr. Brunner, thanks for the pen. It was tremendous help against Mrs. Dodds!" Percy exclaimed.
"I have no clue what you are talking about my boy. Who is Mrs. Dodds?" Mr. Brunner responded.
"Uh, our math teacher? C'mon Mr. Brunner, she was just here! Grover help me out here."
Grover looked over to Percy as if confused, "Perce, I don't know what you are talking about man. Our math teacher is Mrs. Allen, not whoever this Mrs. Dodds is. You alright, dude?"
"What, but…"
"Anyways Mr. Jackson, it is good you finally came along, now we can get going. Please get on the bus so we can return to Yancy." Mr. Brunner requested.
Confused, Percy decided to not fight it. He had no clue why no one remembered Mrs. Dodds, but he didn't want to look like a crazy person.
Once they had gotten back to Yancy, they had received their end of year report cards and had been sent off to pack their rooms. Knowing Gabe probably wouldn't be picking him up, Percy signaled a taxi to take him back to the apartment.
He had decided not to say goodbye to Grover, however. He knew that Grover knew who Mrs. Dodds was, but for some reason decided to act like she never existed and it got on Percy's nerves. Hugging Nancy goodbye and flashing her a smile, Percy clamored into his taxi and directed him to his apartment.
Arriving, Percy gave the driver $20, "Keep the change, thanks for the ride."
"Hey thanks, no problem kid. You have a nice day, y'hear?" The taxi then sped away to look for his next fare, as Percy looked at the dismal walkup that constituted his 'home'. He knew that man would be in there, and would attempt to shake him down for whatever was in his pockets, which was why he was thankful for the inventory system acting as his wallet.
Walking through the door, Percy smelled the acrid smoke of cigars and the smell of beer as Gabe and his friends were crowding around a poker table. Typical, did the man ever do anything else? Walking past Gabe, he stopped as he called out to him.
"Hey kid, you got any money on you? You know the drill."
Turning towards the vile man, he responded, "No actually, I don't."
"Oh don't give me that, I didn't pick you up and I sure as hell know you didn't walk here. You just paid a taxi driver, so turn out your pockets and give me whatever is in there, I need more beer money."
Percy smirked, and turned out his pockets to reveal what seemed to be a cheap ballpoint pen and nothing else. "I gave him the last of it, too bad."
"Grr, whatever, get out of my sight." Gabe grumbled as he got back to his poker game. His friend, Eddy, looked up as if trying to apologize for how Gabe acted, but Percy didn't care for his nonverbal apology. If he truly wanted to help, he would have spoken up; he just wanted to make himself feel better.
Walking towards his room, Percy set down his bags and started to unpack. He heard his doorknob turn, and open to reveal his mom standing there.
"Percy, how is my sweet boy doing? She asked as she came over and gave him a hug. She truly was a great mom, and Percy hugged her back hard as he had missed her over his time at Yancy.
"Hi mom, I'm doing ok. What about you, ahs Gabe been mistreating you?" He asked. He was always worried about leaving his mom alone with that man, he didn't even want to entertain the possibility of him hitting such a sweet woman. Sally deserved so much more than someone like Gabe. He had no idea why she insisted upon staying with him even though she truly didn't like him.
"Oh I'm fine Percy, everything has been business as usual over here. Now start packing some stuff up in your bag, Ok? I think I have a pretty good surprise for you." She teased.
"What?"
"Oh you know, I just thought my little boy would like to take a trip. Just a small ways away to a little beach that he seems to like!"
That could only mean one place, and if it was true then his day would definitely be made. "Montauk?" He asked.
"Yep, so pack your bags my little man. I got Gabe to give up his car keys for a few days so we will be staying at the family cabin for the weekend!"
Percy smiled and hugged his mom before hearing Gabe's ugly voice yell out that he needed more dip. Sighing, Sally let go of her son and told him to finish packing before heading out to give Gabe his dip.
Finishing his packing, he walked out to the living room.
"Ready?" Sally asked. "I already have my stuff in the car."
"Yep, let's go." Percy picked up his bags and walked out with his mom.
"Gabe, beers are in the fridge and there is money on the counter for takeout. Now, keys?" Mom asked.
"Yeah, yeah. Still don't know why I'm doing it but whatever. Not a scratch on that damn Camaro!" He exclaimed as he tossed mom the keys.
Walking out of the door, we piled into the Camaro and got ready to go. The Camaro was the one thing Gabe kept clean, and that includes himself, and Percy had to admit it was a pretty sweet ride.
"Let's go!" His mom said as she turned the car on and took off towards Montauk. Whatever happened this week, it was all going to be made up for when Percy got to spend some time at Montauk.
