Darwin, known then as Raglan, was weaving his way through seaweed chasing his friends around
They hid in the plants and playfully jumped out at each other.
They were having a blast when one of his friends suddenly stopped, worried.
"Hey did you just feel that? It felt like the water just shook slightly."
Darwin shrugged. "It was probably your imagination."
They continued playing for a bit until the sea shook again slightly harder.
"Okay no, there was definitely something then. I felt it." His friend replied worriedly.
"Relax, it's probably just the wind causing a few waves."
"I...I suppose so."
They continued playing again, though his friend wasn't paying attention as much, still worried.
Darwin paused hearing something and looked up.
He could see something making small impacts on the water, slowly getting faster and realized it was raining up above.
"Woah, look at that!" He pointed to it
His friends stopped and looked.
The water began to shake again more violently as the waves began to pick up.
"Woah, starting to get a little bit rough. Maybe we should start heading back..."
"Hmm, I suppose so...though...a few more minutes couldn't hurt, right?"
His friends nodded in agreement except the one who was nervous.
"Are you sure? What if it gets worse?"
"We'll head back if it does."
"I...alright..."
They continued to play, except for the nervous friend who watched anxiously when suddenly a loud boom was heard above and it started to get dark.
"Uh oh...w-what's happening?"
The waves started to get rougher, becoming slightly difficult to navigate.
"Uh oh...I think...I think it's a storm! We need to get back now!"
They began to swim back as the waves got more and more violent.
As they swam a wave dislodged some rocks, causing them to roll down the hill.
One crashed into Darwin's fin, trapping it underneath
"AGH! Guys, help, my fin!"
They swam over and try to move the rock but they weren't strong enough.
"Wait here, we'll get our parents!"
"WHAT?! You can't leave me here!"
"We have no choice! We won't be long, we promise!"
"Oh...alright then.." He reluctantly agreed.
They swam off to find their parents.
Darwin tried his best to pull out his fin but it wouldn't budge, and only served to make it hurt even more.
The waves continued to get worse, starting to thrash him around slightly, worsening the pain in his fin.
"Please...hurry!" He called out, despite knowing they wouldn't hear.
A few minutes passed and he was starting to believe they'd just bailed on him when he heard his father's voice.
"Raglan? Raglan!? Where are you!?"
"HERE!" He yelled out.
His parents swam over quickly and saw him trapped.
"Oh my goodness, my poor baby!" His mother cried out.
"Come on, help me push!" His father asked.
They pushed together as hard as they could and were able to make just enough room to free him.
He held his fin in pain as his mother hugged him.
The waves were really intense now, too difficult for Darwin to swim in with his injured fin.
"I can't swim, my fin is too injured!"
"Just hold onto me!" His father told him.
He did so and they began to navigate the waves, which began to thrash him.
They continued to do so, more and more as he struggled to hold on .
A huge wave suddenly slammed into him and caused him to lose grip.
"AHH!"
The storm made the ocean floor difficult to see much ahead of him as he was thrown around.
"HELP! MUM, DAD, PLEASE!"
"RAGLAN, WHERE ARE YOU!?"
They swam around frantically trying to find him as the waves pushed him rapidly further and further away, unable to control where he went, despite his best efforts.
"MUUUUM, DAAAAAD, PLEASE HELP! I'M SCARED!"
"DON'T WORRY, WE'LL FIND YOU! I PROMISE!" His father cried out.
That was the last thing he heard before he was thrown into a boulder and knocked out.
He continued being dragged away by the current of the waves, his parent's voices growing distant.
Eventually, he regained consciousness briefly on the shore of a beach, barely able to breathe
Uhh...where am I...what...what happened.. .
He flopped about, trying to get towards the water for air when he heard someone approaching. He looked up, his vision blurry due to the lack of air, and saw a shadowy figure pick him up and put him into a fish bowl.
"Nice. Been looking for one like you."
He turned and Darwin saw himself being taken towards a red van before blacking out again.
When he awoke he found himself in what look liked a old antique store. In front of him were shelves upon shelves of items, as far as they eye could see.
He looked around, having no memory of how he got here. Where was he? Who was he?
Oh my god, he didn't even know who he was...
He had no memories, nothing, Did he have parent? Friends? Family? He had no idea...
Days and weeks went by and nothing changed. His memories hadn't come back, nor had anyone to collect him. The only person he'd seen was he shadowy figure who fed him every so often. It was a peaceful, albeit boring life, but there wasn't much he could do about it. He couldn't just hop out of his bowl and try to leave otherwise he'd suffocate. He had no choice but to stay where he was, and just accept his new life.
Things remained like this for what seemed like months, until one day and large pink rabbit came in. He saw him talking to the shadowy man, before he was taken away. He had no idea what has happening, This was the first time he had ever moved from...where he had been. Where was he going? What was happening to him!?
After a long drive the rabbit took him out of the car and towards some large building. He opened the door and hurried upstairs to a room, where he saw some blue cat panicked and searching for something.
"Gumball, look what I found!" The rabbit said as he held out Darwin to the cat.
"Darwin there you are! I was so worried!" Darwin? Is that my name?
The cat peered into the bowl at Darwin, who looked back confused and slightly intimidated.
"What's wrong Darwin? You look scared." The cat asked, seeming concerned about him.
Darwin shook himself and begin to swim around, wanting to make the young cat boy happy.
"Oh, neverminded, guess you we're asleep or something. Let's go play under the table!"
Gumball happily ran out of the room with him, and well, the rest was history.
